David Tuttle opened Richard's Fine Coffee's on June 11, 1996. Upon realizing that there were no independent coffee house in Winter Haven, he wanted to bring residents and visitors a new coffee drinking experience. Richard's originally operated out of the Arcade Building before moving to the new Winter Haven Public Library when it opened its new building in 2005. In the ensuing years Richard's Fine Coffee's has become a cornerstone to the revitalization of downtown. One of the keys to Richard's longevity has been providing a place where people can meet, relax, and enjoy delicious coffee and bites. On the first Friday of every month they have a live music event. They serve a daily breakfast and lunch menu that includes hot and cold coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soup, and pastries. I popped in for caffeinated refreshment during a recent trip to Winter Haven. I like how you can enjoy your drinks and food in their large dining room, on the patio, or across the street in beautiful South Central Park. Richard's has become more than a place where you can eat and drink. It is an important part of bringing the community together in downtown Winter Haven.

The crumb cake was warmed up for us and brought to our table. The coffees were ready within 5 minutes. The coffees were delicious (yes, I sampled the latte), one of the better fresh coffees I've had. I ordered a coffee (I think it was the Honey bee or something) and it was honestly AMAZING. I also had their chicken salad for lunch while my husband had their pulled pork and my dad had their Cuban. Everything was delicious and I loved my bean salad too! Kids had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and they enjoyed them along with the chips it came with. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was nice as well. I saw a couple tables there enjoying books and it seems like a cute little place to read. I will definitely be back on our next visit.

I tried the ube latte and the Blue Pandan Cloud Vietnamese latte, and both were delicious. If I had to pick a favorite though, the ube latte definitely takes the cake. The staff was super friendly, and the café had a quiet, relaxed atmosphere that would be perfect for getting some work done or catching up with a friend. One thing that makes XO even more unique is that there's also a tattoo studio inside. From what I saw, appointments are required, but I thought it was such a cool concept and added to the overall vibe of the space. Was super excited to bring my wife here the next day as it was her Birthday and she LOVES COFFEE!!! To keep it short It's a nice place, things are pricey, especially the Cheesecakes and it was just ok in comparison to other Winter Haven Coffee Hot spots - Haven anyone??? We were going to do coffee and cheesecakes for a Birthday Breakfast, but WOW, the cheesecakes were like 8 something a slice and they are small for the price. I don't care how good they are they are not a good Food to Value in my pockets opinion. We were there so we got drinks. 1 medium caramel macchiato for the Wife and it was very caramel sweet, not a good ratio in her opinion. We ordered a cappuccino, quad shot espresso, that I was charged for 2 espressos for instead of 1$ per extra shot like most other places. 2 Teas and it was over 30$. All the drinks could have been better. None of us really enjoyed them. Got the Fam some cake pops for 2.25 each everyone said they liked them. The service was good, only 1 kid working by themselves and it did take time for the drinks to be made. Luckily no one else was there so he was able to focus solely on our order. They were also out of a few different drinks the girls wanted first, so they had to choose a tea that was not really the best. My little one had the frozen hot cocoa and they enjoyed it. All in all we would most likely only stop back for coffee if we were in the area. It is a Sunday and we want coffee out, but not good enough to drive past our go to's for coffee on the other 6 days. Cheesecakes looked good, but for the price of 3 slices. I can buy a whole cheesecake and add my own toppings. AS ALWAYS, TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!
