I would strongly advise against using Van Express Moving & Storage. While the entire process started out incredibly positive and professional, it ended with us feeling completely taken advantage of and paying nearly double our original quote. From the beginning, everyone we dealt with was friendly and reassuring. The sales representative came to our home, assessed our belongings, and quoted us a price for a single large truck, which he assured us would be sufficient. The price was a little higher than other quotes we received, but we felt confident in their services and their apparent honesty. The plan included them holding our items on the truck overnight, as we were closing on our old house one day and our new one the next. On the first day of the move, the crew was careful, professional, and efficient. They worked hard, and everything seemed to be going exactly as planned. However, at the end of the day, the story changed. Suddenly, we were told that not all of our belongings would fit on the one truck. They informed us that we would need to pay for a second truck to come the following day to move the remaining items. This new cost almost doubled our original, binding quote. It felt like a calculated move. They knew we were closing the next day and were in a completely helpless position. With our house sold and our possessions halfway loaded, what choice did we have but to agree? It feels like a business model designed to prey on people during a stressful and time-sensitive situation. To make matters worse, the crew, which was supposed to arrive at the crack of dawn the next morning to ensure we could make our closing on time, was several hours late. This added immense stress and could have had disastrous consequences for the sale of our new home. While the movers themselves were polite, the company's business practices feel deceptive. The initial friendliness and professionalism were completely overshadowed by what felt like a classic bait-and-switch scam. We were left with no other option but to pay their inflated price. However, to suggest this is an issue of "inaccurate claims" is misleading and ignores the facts of the situation. Your company's "transparency" did not extend to the initial, crucial quoting phase. We had a sales representative physically come to our home, walk through every room, and assess all of our belongings. He is the one who determined that one truck and a crew of 5-6 movers would be sufficient and provided a quote based on that professional assessment. That is the price we agreed to and expected to pay. The failure was not on our end; it was a significant misjudgment by your salesperson. Forcing us to bear the full financial burden of his mistake is unprofessional and unfair. You claim the need for an extra truck was "communicated and accepted." Let's be clear about the context. We were informed of this issue only after your crew had already loaded 80% of our home onto the first truck. At that point, with our closing imminent and the vast majority of our possessions in your hands, what other option did we have but to "accept"? It was a classic bait-and-switch tactic, leaving us completely cornered. As for the timing of this review, we have been busy settling into our new home, a process that naturally takes months. However, our intention was always to share our experience to warn other potential customers. Furthermore, this should not have been a surprise to your company. Shortly after the move, a representative from your office called me to ask for referrals. I explained the horrible experience we had, and her only response was a simple "sorry" with no follow-up or attempt to rectify the situation. The only reason I am taking the time to write this now is that your company has been persistently emailing me, reminding me to leave a review. So, I did. I will not be able to say enough good things about this company and the experience I had. We got 3 quote's and Vans was right in the middle. We went with them. They explained everything to me before the move and made me feel comfortable. The day of the move, 5 guys showed up with 2 trucks and the excitement began. The foreman, Ismael, came right over and introduced himself to me. I showed him everything that we needed moved and away they went and within 2.5 hours they packed my house without any problems!! They even allowed me to add items I didn't tell them about to start with. they wrapped everything in record time and took extra care of our things. these men were VERY FRIENDLY and SUPER POLITE. The got to the new house and like well oiled machines, they busted they butts and got us all in without any problems. All spoke good English, all of them showed up ready to work and WORK THEY DID!!! No cursing, no guy/s taking extra smoke breaks, no yelling, 2 small breaks (well deserved) and...well you get the point. I am a fan of this company!! USE THEM!!! Worth every penny. I had a really bad experience with Brantley Brothers Moving -- showed up late, broke pieces of my furniture, including my vintage armoire, lost my Gohonzon (Buddhist case), chipped my frames, etc. etc. etc... way too much to say here -- when I moved to Newark in June 2018. I didn't write a review, but decided to revisit my experience, because I had a great one with Van Express. The drivers showed up late (problem with the truck) but made up for the time: 10:00-11:30a to load a full two-bedroom apt, which included wrapping furniture, breaking down a bed, and boxing perhaps 20 framed-art pictures. It took BB 3+hours to load less furniture. VE even suggested furniture placement in my new apt in Bloomfield, which is smaller than the one in Newark. Nonetheless, I don't plan on moving for another 5+ years. I'm rebuilding my life after losing my mother to cancer, BUT when I do, I will be able to rest easy knowing that I have a moving company that cares for people and their belongings. We were extremely satisfied by the professionalism and friendliness of the crew. Iman was great and did everything possible to explain and address any concerns. Unis was also amazing in organizing all the furniture and insuring that everything fit in the truck and in the storage unit. David, at the office offered me great customer service and was always responsive to all my concerns. David really allowed me to feel at ease and I really appreciated it. And I must also mention Yassine who provided me with the original estimate. He reassured me that all the furniture would fit in the storage and was very reassuring. He was great, he made me feel comfortable and made my decision to hire Van Express LLC an easy one. I recently used Van Express to move from New Jersey to Maryland. I am a recent widow and was concerned about how I could handle this move by myself. I contracted with Van Express for the move and it was the best decision I could have made. They helped make a very stressful situation painless. The team of Mark, Brian, Jeff and Louie took excellent care in packing up my home. Furniture was blanket wrapped and great care was taken with any of the glass items. They remained very cheerful even with the hot temperatures of the day. They were all polite and friendly. I was very impressed. They (this time Mark, Brian and Jeff) came the next day to my new residence in Maryland which is in a high rise building and again were friendly and cheerful during the grueling day. They had to load the furniture in an elevator and bring down a hallway and never complained. My furniture and boxes arrived in excellent condition and I was very pleased. They arrived both days on time and the price quoted was the price charged. I totally recommend this company. read more

Setting this whole move up was pretty easy. After giving David a comprehensive list, all was taken care of. I gave David a plethora of questions and he answered them with confidence and it was confidence that put me at ease, which made the project easier. I had 5 guys and a lot of furniture! They meticulously wrapped and labeled the furniture. Very organized. What a long day! Started at 9:30am and ended at 6:30PM. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the second truck was smaller, I thought I was going to have 2 large trucks. I had to have a third party transport items. I know the guys were exhausted but a table was left unassembled, large scratches on a floor and a scratch on a piece of furniture. I wish they had bought these things to my attention. All for honesty. I expect some issues but when things are not bought to my attention that becomes a bigger issue. However, overall satisfaction is up there and I would use them again, and recommend them. read more

Moving is such a stressful experience even in the best of circumstances. We initially hired a different moving company and had the typical bad experience... low ball estimate and then when they showed up they were so shady we told them to leave before they picked up a piece of furniture. I then found Van Express and spoke with David on the phone. His estimate was on point and he made me feel very secure that they were a company who did what they said, and all on short notice. When the van showed up with Luis, Lester and Alex I knew I hired the right company. They were extremely professional, pleasant and handled our stuff with tremendous care. They took all the stress out of moving day. And most important for me, the company lived up to its word, the timing and price were exactly what David had said... no hidden fees of any sort. ZERO stars would be more appropriate. I have used Van Express twice for local moves and never had a problem. This time I moved from NJ to MD. And the experience was a lot different. First off, I did all of the packing and made sure everything was out of the attic and ready for easy loading. Marcel you were very unprofessional by complaining to my daughter how insulted you are by the amount of the tip I gave to you and your two workers. I am in between jobs and what I gave is all I can afford. But you are ungrateful and bashed me to my daughter instead of telling me face to face how you really feel, Your workers put a gash in my daughters wall and you actually said did we really do that??? He wasn't worried about my daughters brand new carpet and made it clear her fireplace is ugly. It is safe to say I will never recommend your company nor will I ever use your services again. read more

Van Express made my move as stress-free as any move can be. Prior to the actual move-in day, Maddy, the secretary, was beyond helpful and answered all my MANY questions. I moved from Sussex, NJ to Morristown, NJ and the movers were prompt, professional, and really quick. Not to mention that they were really nice and answered all my questions. They were very careful and everything made it to my new apartment without a scratch. The team helped me pack and wrap-up/protect some of my breakables that I had not wrapped up prior to the move. I continuously kept thanking them because had I done the move with a couple of friends, I know it wouldn't have been as simple. Van Express is fairly priced and very reasonable for a moving company. I have used them for my move from New Jersey to Long island , The movers showed up on time , they were very professional and they even helped us pack/unpack all of our stuff ! Lazhar ( which is apparently the owner ) called me two days before the move to confirm everything we have spoken about . on the day of the move , he also showed up with his movers to make sure everything was going smooth , and because I had three kids , I had more stuff than we originally were quoted for , nevertheless , price was never changed !!! and I do give Lazhar credit for it . We have never hired movers before, but I'm glad we called these guys. They made the moving look so easy and they were done in no time. We moved our 3 bedroom home to a new house here in Morristown. I do have to say that these guys only took about 6 hours to move our entire home with a garage packed full of stuff and did a really great job with taking care not to break our things. They were courteous, on time and were ready to work when they showed up. I have great respect for the guys that did our move, since much of it was heavy lifting and we could not have done all of this by ourselves. It would have taken us much longer. Top notch moving company. I was really impressed about how they swiftly went about loading the truck while maintaining good practices to ensure every item was well covered / protected. They provides great advice on how some furniture items should be transported (whole / dismantling). The crew leader was meticulous in his approach and very methodical in how the items were loaded and positioned (Fragile vs heavy). Very courteous crew and well mannered. Unlike previously used moving companies, these guys were not interested in milking the clock in order to raise the labor cost, they went about their business fairly fast. We moved out of a 2600 sq foot house and put almost all our belongings into a 10 x 30 foot storage unit 50 miles away . The team from Van Express showed up on time and went right to work . They wrapped what needed to be wrapped and took care of moving our belongings , the real talent was Anthony he placed our belongings in the storage unit like a jigsaw puzzle . Anthony created a aisle down the middle and placed all the boxes with descriptions visible on either side which has made returning to the storage space a breeze to retrieve items as we need them . This company was great! The movers came on time, we're very friendly, yet professional. And they know what they're doing. They work well as a team , are very fast, at the same time, very gentle with our possessions.. we have a 400+ gun safe in our basement , that they moved without difficulty.(maybe some sweating though lol) . The best thing is they store your stuff , so you can go to your new home, clean, paint, annd figure out how where you want to put everything , so it makes move in so much easier. Van Express were by far the BEST movers ever. I scheduled my move on Unpakt.com and selected them. They were easy to get in touch with from day 1! The 2 movers that came to my house to help me move where quick, efficient, and worked very HARD! I moved 70 miles north from south jersey to north jersey (a skip away from NYC). And we moved on the hottest day of the year in July in 2013! the movers were very quick didn't socialize or waste time and moved my whole 1200 sq ft condo in a matter of a couple of hours! All three men were extremely friendly and wasted no time. AND, they managed my financial expectations PERFECTLY....accomplished job 45 minutes faster than quoted. I liked that Ben followed up with my quote to get the order. They came late but due to traffic. They had one stop at my home before the rest of the furniture went into storage. They moved the furniture into place and set it up with no problem. They took my Credit Card for payment as not always the practice with movers. They had a crew of 4. Everything was wrapped and packed as expected. There was a small damage on one piece but anything can happen in a move so its something easily repairable.
