Needed to move my belongings from storage to a 1bd apartment. They promised start time of 9AM and 4-5 hours total for the move. Was waiting by the storage for hours upon hours, with their office telling me that they are on the way every time I call, or that they got held up with the previous move, or whatever else and that they would be there in 40 mins. Hour after hour after hour. Finally some bozos show up in a rental truck around 5PM. Same ridiculous excuses about being held up. Only one was speaking decent English and was translating what to do to others in Arabic. Otherwise, the move was fine, some minor damage. That said, this is not a professional company, more like some random guys in a rental truck, probably getting paid under the table. read more

1 bedroom apt move....elevator in both locations. Good stuff: 1. Very professional management. 2. Very professional and hard working movers who were mindful of the time and they did nothing but work as soon as they arrived. 3. Easy to understand rates. I will I agree there were no hidden fees Not so good stuff: 1. Movers were 1 hour late. 8-9am window. I got a call at 9am saying they would be at my residence at 10am. They mentioned they were not stuck in traffic so I'm not sure of the reason for the hour delay. not a huge deal. 2. They didn't bring a hand-truck for a move that was 90% boxes and bags. of course the bags could be carried but the large amount of boxes though....? Bad stuff: 1. The movers didn't pay attention to any of the labels/warnings on the boxes. Some boxes could withstand being thrown around so they just had labels indicating what room they go in ( ignored but that's ok). Others contained fragile items such as glass, plants/flowers and other delicate things. There were labels on every side of those boxes saying fragile or please do not stack anything on top and a few had arrows and labels so that they knew that those boxes could not be overturned ( these boxes contained flowers/plants). everything was overturned and left in the new apt with other boxes on top of them. Now i will say this..from the beginning time was a concern for me. I had been quoted three hours with two guys ( though management thought it would take 4 hrs). They did make sure that i knew if it went over that i would be charged in 15 min increments. I totally understood and at no time did I ever tell anyone the move was taking too long. Due to my concern... I give them my hand truck and i actually helped them move! I was the third guy for a three hour move. Therefore I kind of think they should have had time to pay attention to the messages that were on the boxes. A couple small things were damaged. not the end of the world but just annoying as hell. I'm new to using movers so I will most likely try another company for my next move to see how they compare BUT I will keep Van Express in mind in the future since overall I did not have a bad experience. read more

I will absolutely use this company again for all my moving needs. We had a slightly complicated move that we needed done. We had a large antique pump organ at our home that we needed moved to a store about a half an hour away. Once that one was delivered we needed to bring a larger one home that we purchased there. We were scheduled by Maddie who was super friendly, gave us excellent and prompt service and a reasonable quote. Wahid and Louis were our movers and they were wonderful. They expertly wrapped and were super careful with the fragile furniture. Everything arrived in perfect condition and they set up the new organ easily. I did my shopping prior to choosing Van Express. I have only considered companies that were willing to come and see the house and provide me with final price. Estimates were not accepted by me, only final price. The team was very professional and paid attention to keeping my staff and the house(walls,floor) undamaged. Very good moving service. Scheduled 2 moves (local) to bring items to a charity when cleaning out my parents' storage lockers. Lived up to positive Angie's list rating. No problems. 1st move ran over budget a bit but I expected that from the information my sales rep and my mom gave me. David in customer service is great to work with. Van Express offered a flat rate deal and my antenna went immediately up (I talked to two other movers and one said by the pound and the other said by the hour.) The owner takes the time to travel to your house at any time - calculates a price for you on the spot and there are no extra charges at all. We had 4 stops on our move as we were moving into our first house - no problems at all - they made all those stops at no additional charge - just super nice and honest guys. I had 2 different moves done with this company and I have to say I am very happy with everything. The manager and staff are the most friendliest and helpful people. The move from Brooklyn, NY to NJ went smooth in both moves (second one being the best), only exception was one draw which the track was broke in the first move, but after talking with them, they reimbursed fully for the repair. I recommend these guys to anyone and any issues, they deal with it promptly. Whatever they took apart, the easily put back together. Absolutely the worst moving experience ever. They sent me two movers, one of whom was physically ill and used my bathroom to vomit. This wouldn't have been the worst thing, except he was too weak to move my furniture. I had to help move my own couch into the moving truck. They arrived at least half an hour late at my destination with no explanation why. They broke my two bookshelves. The move took 9 hours for what they themselves told me would be a four hour job. The worst part was when they tried to bill me DOUBLE what they had quoted me. When I refused, the mover called the owner and made me talk to him. The owner told me it was my fault the move took 9 hours instead of 4, because I "didn't tell him that my new apartment building had long hallways." Save yourself time and frustration and go with a different company, even if the quote is higher than what these scammers quote you. I used Van Express for a double move. They moved me out of one residence and into storage on July 13th and then they moved me again from my storage location into my new home on August 28th. Both moves went very well. I felt that the movers were very cautious with my belongings and took the time to properly protect my furnishings. I had done most of the packing myself but they were prepared to do the necessary residual packing. (I did notify them in advance that I wanted them to pack my TVs.) Look elsewhere!!! I was charged for an extra hour of "travel time" and somehow it took me 20 mins to get to the second address and it took them an hour and 20 mins Allegedly there was "a lot of traffic" which I don't believe for a second. That was done deliberately. They chose to wrap only half of my desk with cloths- a desk that was expensive. The half of the desk that wasn't wrapped now has several deep scratches and it looked like they just threw it in the back of their truck!! I was overcharged and the only large item I moved was damaged. Will never use them again!! Avoid!!! read more

i recently used van express for a local move for my wife and it was the best move that we have ever done. we are military and have done numerous moves with the army (up to about 6 already) but this was a personal move and it definitely beat all the others by a long shot. the movers came early and got everything out of the apartment in impressive time. all the furniture was taken apart and wrapped up safely including a tv and large printer. things were set up in the new place also in a quick manner and put together without any hitches. we even tried to do small things like put shelves into a tv stand and move a rug around and the movers without hesitation offered to help...truly great service!!!!!! i would without a doubt recommend them for a move!!!!! read more

Awesome experience! They were on time, and super courteous and gentle with the furniture which I loved. My house is a little tricky to get too since it's not listed on the GPS! (Brand new home) once we got it resolved the guys were all cheerful and didn't let the delay stop them! We than headed over to my new apartment, what made the experience moving to the apartment even better was that they knew the area, and the apartment I was moving into because they come here so much! We used van express for a complete move within the state of New Jersey. The workers were courteous quick and careful. Yes a few things were broken and some of the boxes. Here's the thing if you don't want something broken pack that stuff up and you move it. The best part was they forgot a small one dollar piece to my patio set as it got lost in the truck. 3 1/2 weeks later is there on my doorstep. That's cool and I do appreciate that. I knew it was unlikely considering it was the short notice and the end of the month but they were able to fit in my move. They were on time, professional, careful, and diligent. We were very dissatisfied with this company. When researching this company my husband provided them with the measurements, number of boxes & furniture to be moved in order to get a close estimate. They provided inaccurate estimates, it took 28 days to deliver our furniture which were moved from our home to a warehouse and back into a truck which was not disclosed to us especially during COVID!! The staff did not wear masks or gloves and upon delivery 28 days later they felt insulted because we were wearing masks when they delivered our furniture. On the day of moving that rate changed tremendously and was reduced to 1/4 of our belongings for the quote given. Upon delivery new boxes were broken, ripped, bent & dirty due to multiple moving from this company especially boxes marked as fragile! Glasses were broken, one of my diplomas is missing, missing a box and on delivery they mistakenly brought in things that we had to inform them didn't belong to us. Upon calling customer service to determine when our furniture would be delivered we were given multiple lies. Our advice DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

I found this company through Yelp reviews and would definitely use them again. The guys worked hard right from the time they got to my location. There was a mismatch on the original time estimate and Jasper, the crew chief immediately caught what appeared to be an over-billing of the hours estimated. He put me on the phone with Lazar who had originally estimated the job and the matter was cleared up right there in a very fair manner. My worst nightmare when using movers is that they give you an estimate, they arrive, begin work and hit you with a much bigger bill. This situation was the exact opposite. My final bill came in less than the original estimate. The men were efficient and incredibly good natured given the fact that my wife and I had added an extra drop off point on the original plan and that we frankly dithered, having the poor guys move things back and forth on the truck as we decided what should go into my new office and what should go back home. They had to carry a number of pieces up and down stairs as we were making up and changing our minds. All throughout, they were helpful and all around good sports about our changes. I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again. They were honest with their time, courteous and immediately corrected what looked like could have been a problem with the estimate. Of course, not everyone can expect the cost to come in below the estimate. But the point is that they were fast, efficient and honest. I found choosing a mover very difficult, as everybody had both good & bad reviews on the internet. Although I was looking for a low price, I also wanted a perfect move, so I know that I was asking for a lot. With Van Express, I got both! They are a small, family run company that really cares about the quality of their work, and the satisfaction of their customers. Lazhar, the owner, runs the company with his wife, and does most of the estimates himself. His sincerity impressed both my wife and myself. After only 8 years in business, they are small enough to give close, personal attention to every job they do, but also big enough to offer the most professional service to every job they handle, no matter how big or how small. I paid them extra to come the day before the move and pack us mostly all up. I highly recommend that, as it made the move the next day smooth, fast & flawless! I couldn't have asked for a better move. Zed, the crew manager, was on top of everything. He kept things moving along quickly and efficiently. By far the worse decision I made hiring this company after constant communication with the sales rep assuring me the job at hand wasn't going to take longer than it was. My scheduled move was between 2-230pm I didn't receive a call till 2:30pm to let me know there running an hour late, no problem they showed up and looked as if they weren't prepared to do this job. All helpers were new and in training they sent me 3 guys which it should have just been the one gentleman that was the driver which he was doing all the work and continuously apologized for the other two helpers. Besides them damaging furniture and walls the job was supposed to take 3 hours in which it actually took over 6 hours. Two of the new guys were more concerned about how much rent that I paid carrying one item per time to move and moving slower than molasses. Then they charged me 60$ to put a box around my tv when he only put blankets around it and still charged me the 60$ then at additional 260$ because they went over the time. Then they said only cash!! I sent a complaint to the sales manager and his only reply was sorry fill out a claim form. I would recommend you make sure they don't send new helpers that do not know what they are doing because it's at your cost not the company. read more

I hired Van Express on a personal recommendation. I had positive interactions with the staff when I called to get a quote. I gave my furniture inventory over the phone, made some corrections to the furniture inventory that I received from the company via email, and was happy with the price quote, so I booked them for my cross-town move. The movers showed up on time on the day of the move. However - as was immediately apparent to me when they arrived, and which I commented on first thing - they did not bring a vehicle large enough for my move. Instead of sending an actual moving truck - as they had done for the person who recommended them to me (who had moved with significantly less furniture!) - they sent a van and a trailer. I told the team leader immediately that I didn't think that our belongings would all fit. He did the in-person inventory of our apartment and said that it would all fit. Five hours later, they still insisted that it would all fit. Six hours later, they gave up on trying to make it all fit and admitted that they would have to make two trips between the apartment and house to move all of our belongings. Our move began at 10am and they did not unload the last of the belongings until after 8pm. The actual movers were kind and worked hard. They took good care of our things and we only had one small table break in the move. Because of the stress of the move and the confusion of the two trips, even they didn't provide the service that we were looking for. Boxes ended up in the wrong room and on the wrong floor, despite exceedingly clear labels. Our TVs were almost left on the truck and thankfully my husband realized that we did not have them before the team left. (We choose to believe that this was purely accidental after a long, hard move.) The real problem with the move, however, was that the dispatchers clearly screwed up and the company was not willing to take full responsibility for the error. I refused to pay for the full 10 hours of the move because the fact that they sent the wrong size vehicle cost us time in 2 ways: (1) the obvious way - needing to make two separate trips; and (2) the subtle way - the fact that the movers took an excessive amount of time loading the van (6 hours on the first trip!) because they were trying to make everything fit in one trip. When I spoke with the office, they were only willing to give me a break on 1.5 hours of time and claimed that they sent this vehicle combination (van plus trailer) for all moves of this size and that I had "lied" on the inventory. The only inaccuracy on the inventory was the number of boxes, and when I originally spoke with the office regarding my inventory and told them that I did not yet know the number of boxes, he said that it wasn't a problem - they'd estimate the number of boxes and the size of the vehicle based on the furniture inventory; the furniture inventory I gave was accurate. Furthermore, from the personal recommendation, I know that they do not always send a van plus trailer for moves of this size. I was incredibly disappointed with my experience with Van Express. I would not recommend them. And I would generally caution anyone hiring movers to be very careful with regard to the size vehicle that the company is going to use. And - if possible - try to get a guarantee with regard to the maximum amount of time for which you will be charged, or go with a flat-rate mover. read more
