Excellent work and very reasonable. The staff always manages to work out a deal you can afford. However, his practice has antiquated equipment and sometimes long wait times/overbooking. Lots of good talented doctors here and friendly staff. Crowns are outsourced and shoddy quality porcelain type, not the newer zirconia that many dentists use now. I had four separate visits to fix just one crown, which did not fit right and also cracked. To his credit, the owner truly cares and is a master craftsman. It is disappointing to have to write this review. I was seen at a scheduled appointment over a year ago. I have been a patient at this location for several years. When I arrived for my routine cleaning, I was informed that my insurance had requested my records and that I could only be seen if I was experiencing pain. I was told the office would send the requested records and follow up with me so we could proceed with my cleaning and X-rays. Unfortunately, more than a year has passed and I was never contacted. There was no effort made to communicate with me or provide an update regarding my insurance or next steps. As a patient of over four years who has spent a significant amount of money at this practice, this lack of professionalism and follow-through is disheartening. Quality of care is unmatched. I've been going to Van Nuys Victory Dental Group for over a decade. The staff and providers are all wonderful. Both providers are extremely adept in Dental care; However, I do prefer Dr Quan as his approach is more in line with my individual needs as an anxious mess. He has a calming demeanor--very Zen vibes, and always goes out of his way to make sure I am comfortable and at ease. The ladies in the front are very friendly and always helpful. I wouldn't even rate this place a zero--it's that bad! Avoid this office at all costs. I visited about 15 years ago, and that experience has haunted me every time I've had to go to a dentist since. During my visit, Dr. Gabby claimed I had 11 to 14 cavities that needed treatment. At the time, I was only 18-20 years old, didn't know much about dental care, and didn't seek a second opinion. Looking back, it's clear that Dr. Gabby was more interested in maximizing insurance payouts than actually helping me. Fast forward 15 years, and my teeth have become extremely brittle. I've already had four teeth break, and now I need crowns to fix the damage. I've finally found a competent dentist who is now repairing the damage caused by this awful place. When I say the quality of work for the price!!!!! Back story first. I was going to my original dentist and they were basically robbing me of my money. I decided to go somewhere else and was recommended to this place. The same things I needed done has been covered by my insurance with this place. Not sure how one place can charge me an arm and a leg and another place charge me absolutely nothing!!! (Mind you I have amazing dental insurance) Dr. Gabbay is super friendly and even cracks jokes with you. The staff is super friendly and all willing to help. They don't make you feel bad about your teeth. The last place I was at I felt like I was on a display case and had multiple people staring into my mouth in awe. This dentist office had me drive up there two times for my wisdom teeth. First time I drove one hour away for X-rays and a check up I get there the dentist said I just had x rays get your x rays emailed to me and sends me home. After he gets my emailed X-rays they schedule me to get my wisdom teeth done on Tuesday I get there Tuesday he says he doesn't do bottom wisdom teeth and refers me to another dentist gave me a referral paper not filled out had to call them and go back in to get my paperwork filled out. This dentist office has horrible communication between the dentist front desk and the staff. I will never go back here again read more

OMG..... This is the WORST dentist office that I have ever seen in my life!!!!!! Everything (chairs, equipment, etc) is in terrible condition! Looks like they took them all from the trash! 30-50 years old stuff, not less! X-Ray machine is kinda first edition! One of the receptionists did not wear any mask and the doctor didn't even bother himself to wear gloves during examination?!! He just stayed barehanded! I came there to remove wisdom tooth due to acute pain, but they were trying to push me to do deep teeth cleaning also, expecting me to pay out of my pocket as insurance most probably wouldn't cover it!! I have no idea what these other people on here experienced, because I just got off the phone with LORI, who might have been the most friendly and HELPFUL receptionist ever. I called this place for the first time, needing an impression and a few other things done. To be honest, I was expecting a very dull zombie-like person who would be giving me one word answers.... NOPE, complete opposite!!! Lori answered the phone sounding like she actually wanted to be there. EVERY single question I had, she went above and beyond to either verify with the dentist, or to very thoroughly explain the answers to my questions (like WHY and HOW this or that works).. very unexpected! Plus, just her bubbliness actually brightened my mood. When's the last time the receptionist successfully gained new business just from the initial call, and not from the prices? If I could give a zero I would. After a recent visit and some follow up phone calls, I've decided to never set foot inside this office again. Recently, I had to visit the office and found numerous issues. These are some of the things witnessed by myself and other patients: 1) They allow patients to be maskless in small a waiting room, front desk and hallways during this pandemic. 2.) Not consistent checking patient temperatures upon arrival 3) Exam rooms have older equipment and look dirty. 4) Staff is unprofessional and at times very rude. 6) Neighborhood is dangerous to the point where we were told by staff that they have to escort each other to their cars due to the homeless people. 7) Stepped in human excrement along the curb when exiting our vehicle. 8) They don't produce detailed receipts. 9) Have to keep pushing billing person to get insurance approvals which takes a ridiculous amount of time. 10) Dr. Gabbay has a rough hand and is not patient enough to wait for novocaine to work. 11) I've been given the runaround to get my records released so I can go to a new dentist and still have not been able to obtain them. I cannot speak enough of how Dr. Gabbay saved me from fatal pain! Heading out to California on a trip, I came down with the unimaginably worst tooth pain I've ever had. Unfortunately, my plane landed on a Sunday and of course there are no dentists open. I get referred to Dr. Gabbay by one of my friends who encouraged me to leave a message with him so he could get back with my first thing Monday. But someone actually picked up when I called! She got Dr. Gabbay on 3-way and he was so nice enough to call in prescriptions for pain and antibiotics to the local pharmacy. On a Sunday, who does that?! He then told me to stop by the next day on Monday. I came and they were very quick in seeing me. It turns out I needed my tooth extracted and a number of cavities filled. I mean A LOT of work done. They discussed price with me-- since I was referred by one of their own patients, combined with my (not-so-great) dental insurance... grand total... FREE! I was elated. They were able to see me two days later for my work. The staff was extremely friendly and did everything they could to make me comfortable. Dr. Gabbay even wanted to make doubly sure I was okay, so he told me to drop back in before my flight home. Again, service was very quick on such a busy day. He removed my stitches, wrote me another Rx, and sent me on my way! Now it might not make sense to have a primary dentist on the other side of the country, but I am really sold on Dr. Gabbay. I have been going to this dentist for three years and Doctor Gabbay and his staff have always made me feel important as a patient. My teeth used to hurt all the time, but now I'm able to eat the foods I like. This office has created a good system, to maintain a sanitized lobby and limiting number of patients at any given time to curb the spread of coronavirus. I just had my first exam here, I have to say I was really impressed by the level of courtesy and professionalism. Dr. Gabbay was extremely pleasant and addressed all of my questions (even a general question about insurance), and his staff was efficient and courteous. Despite it being a Saturday and having 3 people in front of me, the total wait time was no more than 10 minutes. I need to get some work done, and there is no question in my mind that I will be going here (I actually already booked the appointment). I'll update this review once my work is completed to let everyone know how it went, however I would be very surprised if the work wasn't as excellent as the service. ***Update - 2014*** Unfortunately, I ended up running into a few issues with my work. I had a tooth extracted previously and paid for a 'flipper' to replace it. I stated many times that it did not seem to fit correctly, even before leaving the office, but was told I would 'get used to it'. Many months later, I never have. I initially thought I'd give it a try and if it didn't work, I'd ask them to replace it. After a week or so, it still hurt so I suggested it needed adjustment. I came back in and had them take a look, but the doctor only filed the piece down a bit and put it back in. Now, let me be clear. It took several minutes of effort and some discomfort to position this thing in my mouth, even with the doctor there. I have friends who have had similar pieces made at other dentists who did not have this problem. Unfortunately, the office was not receptive to my request to have the piece replaced in it's entirety, unless I was willing to pay for it again. That doesn't seem very fair, so after a few attempts, I took my business elsewhere. read more

First of all I hate going to the dentist after having a traumatic wisdom tooth extracted by a horrible ex-dentist. Everyone in this office were extremely kind and professional. I was hesitant to come here but they were the only dentist office that would immediately see me for what I suspected was an abscessed tooth and I was in excruciating pain. I wasn't too happy that I would have to drive out of West Hollywood and into this area which is the "hood" but after the A+ care I had received I just kept coming back because these guys are so good at what they do. I had Dr. Qin work on me and he was so kind and gentle with my extraction and the root canal, Dr. Gabbay was very nice as well. No surprises for billing and insurance and even the office manager was awesome and took care of my insurance issues. Definitely will keep coming back to this place while I'm in L.A. read more

I called ahead of time to schedule my appointment for an extraction. They told me my insurance covers everything and I didn't have to pay a copay. So with that being said I scheduled an appointment. I get there of course they take x rays. Then all of a sudden they tell me because I have a different regular dentist they have to charge me a $100 copay. When this was never mentioned over the phone. Before I took off work to give them a try. She also told me "it's your choice you can pay or look somewhere else". Money hungry, they just want to milk your insurance and pockets. This is the worst dentist in town. Firstly a couple years ago, I had a tooth pulled and they left a piece of something in my gums and when I mentioned it they ignored me. Who knows where it is now, it moved up into my skull I think. Then each time my insurance allowed me to get my teeth cleaned I went in and they tried to tell me I needed 2500 worth of work and made me feel bad for not doing it. I would call for a teeth cleaning and they would say 'Not until December'. So, I started to call in December through April. They said 'No, you were already in and got them cleaned in August.'. I said no, that is not true and you must be doing insurance fraud. After a few more calls they called me back and after arguing with me about already coming in and how I can't come in for another year-they told me I needed a deep cleaning without even seeing me. They just want your money. How do they know I need a deep cleaning? I do not by the way. They simply either committed insurance fraud or don't want to take my insurance and or again, just want cash in the door. They lied, were rude and also I spoke to more than one person, so they put me on hold and came back with a story each time. Don't go here. Go where they appreciate you. Had work done by Dr Quan. My anxiety was already climbing just the thought of having to go to the dentist. Dr Quan was very gentle and nice. Even the staff at the front was very pleasant. Actually everyone I came in contact with was pleasant and understanding. Mainly went to have a cleaning but unfortunately a week before my appointment I had chipped a tooth and the day before my appointment I knew I probably needed a root canal. Dr Quan took care of that the same day. Still have a bit more work that I have get done but I feel more at ease now with staff. Another good thing about this place is so close to my work and they're open on Saturday's....big plus! Thanks also to one of my co-workers for recommending Victory Dental.
