This place is an enigma for me. Maybe you need an advanced PhD in cookieology to understand the buzz, but dang there's always a huge line waiting to get in and spend an awful amount of money on a terribly sweet round baked piece of dough with chocolate. The presentation is key and they spend more time wrapping and labeling the cookies than actually taking your money and saying goodbye. To that effect, they seem to be perplexed by the frequent drug-tourists and weirdos as they are almost never in a personable mood. One time I had the fortune of standing behind a guy who couldn't stop asking for the 'secret ingredient' as his girlfriend tried not to be too embarrassed. The secret ingredient is lots of love with sprinkles of fancy typography and packaging. Get it? That said, yes, I have indulged in the cookies - sometimes more than one at a time. They just happen to be on the way most of the times. I am not a fan of white chocolate, and they'd do good by creating an all-dark variety. Ok so i'm an aspiring pastry chef. So obviously i was dying to try these highly rated and most talked about cookies... So i went down there an hour before closing time and only six were left they apparently bake them every half hour and the last batch goes out at 5:30pm. It's this incredible chocolate cookie with white chocolate melted center goodness and I'd even say they're Amsterdam's version of NYC's Levain chocolate peanut butter chip cookie - both are perfection! Anytime I'm in Amsterdam this is probably one of the first stops that have to be made, adding to the feeling of having arrived in this wonderful city. Get it with their coffee or one of their Kusmi tea selections and sit down on the street side benches, to enjoy the cookie deliciousness while taking in the atmosphere and people watch. A hidden gem in an alley-way-like street between Spui and Singel. Anytime I'm nearby, I have to make a stop. Just one cookie type chocolate with a white chocolate center, but oh so good, you won't be thinking about any other kind. They package it so nicely in a white bag with a old fashioned gold seal, but as if it will make it out of the store even! There is usually a cookie + coffee deal -- ah HEAVEN! You can also buy present packs of 6 cookies, which make for great gifts. They even give you reheating instructions--they care that much about the quality. read more

My waistline is already sobbing at this fact because it's going to suffer the consequences. The cookies are sublime. There's only one kind - take it or leave it. It's a triple chocolate threat: chocolate cookies with chocolate chips with white chocolate filling. The surface is lightly crispy, giving way to a soft filling. Best eaten warm, especially with a glass of hot chocolate or coffee. As a chocoholic, this hits the spot! Staff makes cookies right in front of you; I stared with my greedy eyes, counting down the line as I got closer to the glass. Wait times can seem a bit unbearable, but personally, I find it worth it. I was craving dessert when I was in Amsterdam so I decided to check this place out. They are really well known for their chocolate stuffed cookies so I bought 6 of them in a cute to-go box. I thought they were really good, but just a little bit expensive. The line wasn't that bad when I came and I will say that this place is easy to miss (had it not been for the line of people outside, I might not have noticed it). I will say that the cookies are good, but they do seem a little bit overrated.
