Got take out from here via Uber eats. This was recommended by a co-worker who also was a bit flabbergasted about the lack of solid Mexican cuisine locally (in Vancouver). Moving from Arizona, where you can get delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine just about anywhere and it is often very cost effective; a bit different in the PNW. I got the quesabirria, which I would recommend as the flavors were rich and indulgent. I was happily full after the meal. Breakfast burritos are the best here. My favorite is the El Mexicano that has the right amount of chorizo, beans, egg, cheese so good with the avocado salsa. Kids like to do the original with sausage or bacon (hashbrowns, eggs, cheese) with the green salad. So good...... horchata and cucumber lime frecas. Lunch time my husband loves the Quesabirria it's a taco with melted cheese (think soft taco had a baby with a quesadilla). My husband loves these... I'd go for a breakfast burrito anytime of day but it's only served until noon. I'd say I've been kinda disappointed in the regular tacos and would go for a burrito here. Tried a new spot today. Great price on the breakfast burrito. Burritos were good size, salsa was flavorful but it was lacking a little bit of salt. Friendly service and the food came out quickly. I actually ordered the street tacos combination from the El Jefe Birria & Tacos food truck on 78th & Hwy 99, across from the Joann's Fabric store. The tacos were so delicious, I didn't need the salsa. For my 3 tacos, I chose birria, pastor, and carne asada. Went well with the rice and beans. Service was good. There were some seats in front of the food truck. But I brought my order home. Definitely try this place, if you haven't done so already. Delicious, authentic Mexican food. read more

This is the best Mexican I've had in Portland. I'm from Southern Arizona, so I'm qualified to say this. This is what Mexican food should taste like and be priced at. Service was quick and there was covered seating. The price for a burrito was very good. The burrito was gigantic. Lots of rice that was cooked just right and beans. I was adding a lot of salsa to get more flavor out of the burrito. I got the pastor and the flavor wasn't my favorite but still good. I didn't try the birria which I think is what they're best at. Stopped in around 11 on a Sunday for lunch. Only a couple of people in line. The line moved quickly. We ended up ordering 2 Mulitas Pastor ($7.50). Once you order and pay, you're given a pager to let you know when your order is ready. Unfortunately, there's no seating set up outside the food cart. I noticed other reviews referred to a couple of tables set up, but nothing was set up during our visit, so we sat in our car and ate. Maybe theft issues?! I'm not sure but since the weather is so nice, it would be ideal to enjoy the food outside. Our order was ready in about 5 minutes. Our food was really good. Ingredients were fresh. I like how they give you packets of their homemade sauces. We enjoyed our first visit, so we'll definitely come back to try other menu items! read more

This is a popular food truck, there's a big parking lot since it's at the lot of Living Hope Church in Vancouver. There's no seating available unfortunately, but, many people just eat in their cars or open up their car trunks and eat there. I ordered some birria from them along with other items. The staff there was very nice. For the Birria, I ordered the quesataco, el jefe special. I also got a al pastor taco, steak taco, california burrito and a passionfruit agua fresca. I was able to order and the food was ready within 5-10 minutes. They give you a buzzer and ring it when your food is ready. The California burrito was decent. Decent size for less than $10. The fries were crispy and good amount of filling for a burrito. The Al pastor taco is pork and it was fine. Nothing to special for me. When I eat al pastor tacos, I expect smokiness from the meat and a hint of spice. The steak taco was fine too, it had similar looking meat like the Birria. The Birria itself was good. I personally liked the Birria with no cheese on it, then dipped it in the consommé. The quesabirria had a crispy crust and cheese in it with a good amount of Birria. The vampiro and the Birria taco from the el jefe special was good. Highly recommend getting that special so you can get a taste of everything Birria. Overall this place is good. read more

Tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago, people were so sweet, order was out in a time manner and the food was DELICIOUS.

Pretty cool place. When I first walked up to the order window I could not see anyone inside. They have a high tech way to pay right there to help you pay with your iwatch or tap your card. I got two orders of the tacos. One chicken and one pork. I took them home right me and ate them. The sauce they give you is awesome. You can tell they give you sauce that's packers of what they make themselves. So, this sauce is pretty authentic. It tastes pretty dang good too. The chicken and pork tacos were both delicious. They had a good flavor to them and with the green sauce it kind of taste a little spicy. I spent a like 23.00 for 6 tacos. I guess that's how it goes. I will come back again for sure. Man, I tell you what, when I'm home from being on the road I tend to stick my usual feed troughs. But with Javier's in Vancouver burning down I hadn't found that place that was gonna fill the void in my heart. Tonight I tried el hefe's food cart on Andersen. God damn. It was absolutely delicious. The Birria nachos. Top notch. The queso birria, was so filling and tasty, gives the same feeling of wellbeing and serotonin boost as busting a nut. The service was great. Friendly order taker. They have a little device that lets you know when your food is ready so you can wait in your car. But that cook was fast as fuck boi. The food was done quick and in my hands in under 5 minutes. As far as ambiance they have a roof and heaters. So you aren't totally exposed to the elements when you order. Ya gotta give this place a try. read more

Saltier than pirates! My BF had the Loco Burrito without rice and double steak. He seemed to enjoy it since the burrito quickly disappeared from its wrapper after we got home. I got the birria plate which came with beans, rice and meat. While the beef was nice and tender, it was also quite sodium-rific. The beans were likewise pretty salty but the rice had, oddly, very little seasoning so I ended up eating the beans with the rice mixed in. They also included tortillas but they're corn so I ate two and tossed the rest as I prefer flour and didn't feel like spending the calories. All in all, the convenience of the location isn't enough to lure me back, but I'm glad I tried it. The food truck is next to the Winston's fish and chips which we also didn't care for, so no reason to return to that strip mall with the huge, Walmart-esque church. :/ read more
