Dear Yelpers, A little outside the scope of my normal review but I have been going to VanDevere for a few years now and it has always been...ok. Nothing great, but nothing horrendous. They tend to have a good selection of vehicles and if you can't find what you like on the lot, odds are one of their sister dealerships would have what you want. Customer service is generally pretty good, but they tend to get lack luster on the wash job (if they even offer or remember to give you one). If you are going on a long trip by yourself or have a child, going on a road trip, do NOT take your vehicle here for a check beforehand, as they will not fix or find any issues, but they will also NOT communicate with your whatsoever while you are HOURS from home and stranded. You will be passed around from AI to the same AI with a different voice and typing background, you will NOT receive any responses to texts, and they will NOT reach out to you whatsoever. They will use every excuse in the book to try and justify this but won't do anything to change it. I would like to express my extreme disappointment with your company. My husband and I purchased a 2015 Chevy Equinox from Vandevere in late 2014. One of the things that attracted us is the forever warranty. We didn't realize we would need to cash in on it. Unfortunately, on 4/3/26, while on the highway, our car abruptly shut off. We had the car towed to Vandevere. For days, we heard nothing. Finally, we were told the car suffered catastrophic engine failure. We thought we understood what that meant, because after all we have a warranty and this should be covered. What followed was an absolute travesty. Communication was very sporadic. We would call hoping to speak to a human and be greeted by AI. I attempted to communicate with your staff via text and did not receive one response. My husband finally did hear from someone who was apologetic. Vandevere held our car until 5/29/26! We had to pay $900 for fees related to a covered warranty! We drove the car for one day and the check engine light popped on along with the stability track light. We brought the car back to Vandevere yesterday. Come to find out, the warranty covers the bare engine block so the technician used all the plugs and other parts from our old engine and they are, of course, failing. The new recommendation, replace all the plugs and other parts for $2700!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, but you'll give us a discount and only charge us $2100! Are you serious?! This is the forever warranty. The forever warranty that is designed to give consumers peace of mind that if their car fails, you've got them covered. What an absolute joke!! In order for us to be made whole after taking advantage of this "forever warranty", we have to spend over $3000!!!! Do you believe the average consumer knows that they may be out thousands of dollars for warranty covered repairs?!! The icing on the cake was when the technician asked if we would be interested in trading in our car for another one. You've got to be kidding me! I will never spend another dime or my time with Vandevere and I'll make sure anyone I'm connect to knows what the truth about your "forever warranty". I don't want anyone I know or love to endure what we have. It is NOT okay to play with people like this and lean on technicalities. I purchased a car here In 2024. I was told one of the perks was free car washes for the life of the car. Every time I try to take advantage of this perk, the car wash is closed. They also advertise that I can go to one of their other dealerships, so I stopped by their Kia dealership today and learned their car wash is unavailable for the foreseeable future. I then drove t to the Chevy dealership and found their car wash closed. I inquired as to the reason for the closure and was told by Nick that it will be closed for at least two months. I asked if someone could hand wash it and he said they don't have staff available who can do that. (I wonder what the gentleman who occasionally runs the car wash is doing) He suggested I try their Cadillac dealership across town, but I also recall being referred to the KIA dealership by that dealership . Bottom line the free car washes are spurious at best. Don't fall for it. The only shining light during this experience was meeting a technician at Chevy named Rodney who seemed genuinely empathetic and wanted me to have a good customer experience. read more

Title: Failed Warranty Support, Repeated Misdiagnoses, and Over $3,200 Charged I bought my 2017 Chevy Colorado from Vandevere Chevy in July 2025 and originally felt confident thanks to their "Forever Warranty." That confidence is gone after my experience with their service department. In December, Stabilitrak, ABS, and T/C lights came on. Vandevere diagnosed a corroded driver-side hub and ABS sensor, told me they weren't covered under the warranty, and charged me. Later, the warranty provider confirmed that wheel hubs are covered and that Vandevere had actually submitted the claim--yet they still billed me. They also performed an alignment and replaced a battery, bringing the visit total to $1,600+. A month later the same lights returned. Vandevere charged more diagnostic fees, performed an oil change, replaced a pigtail, charged me to diagnose a loose heat shield that only needed a larger washer, and charged me to diagnose an "oil leak" that I or an independent mechanic could find no trace of. They also charged me for repairing a broken wheel stud even though they rotated the tires and cross threaded it during a previous Vandevere service. Despite the charges, the actual issue was never resolved. The lights came on when they test drove my vehicle. I took the vehicle to a trusted independent shop. They immediately found the real cause: the passenger-side wheel hub, which Vandevere never inspected. They fixed it correctly, and the warning lights disappeared. When I raised these concerns with Vandevere, a manager admitted certain items should have been covered and offered partial reimbursement including submitting the independent shop invoice for reimbursement. But another employee later told me that the independent shop charges would still stand because I didn't get "pre approval" for that repair--even though Vandevere had failed twice to fix the issue and repeatedly misrepresented warranty coverage. In total, I paid over $3,200 to Vandevere and they never fixed the problem. This is not what I consider honesty, accountability, or customer service. I cannot recommend their service department and will not be returning. read more

BUY SMART- LEAVE EMPTY HANDED! SOLD VEHICLE OUT FROM UNDER MY SON!! Don't waste your time!!! The whole "faith and integrity " core values don't seem to be more than print on a pamphlet. My son has been working and saving for almost two years now to purchase his first vehicle. After driving an hour and hard credit pulls on us both, my son decided this was the one and put money down ( SO IT WOULDN'T BE SOLD!) He waited more than a week while it was being "conditioned". Upon finally getting word that it might be ready that evening he received notice from the salesman that they accidentally sold his vehicle to someone else!!!??? When speaking to one of the 4 sales "managers" that the vehicle was marked SOLD in the computers but no one put a SOLD sign on the vehicle!!?? In the end there "was nothing to be done and it was best if we go our separate ways!!" WOW!! If thats the faith, integrity and love that the VanDevere Bunch gives I am glad my son didn't buy a vehicle there!!! I would hate for him to be subjected to any more of that kind of LOVE!! read more

Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful, they didn't try to sell me a car that was out of the price range I gave them, and their cars are priced on the lower end of the range so you don't have to do the dreadful negotiating. Visited VanDevere today to see what they would offer me for a 2019 Mustang 5.0 with low mileage. My experience was 5 stars all the way. The selling process originally started on KBB, which provided a cash offer for the vehicle, and that info was sent to VanDevere. I then received a call from someone at VanDevere to schedule a day and time to bring the vehicle in so they could check it out and make an offer. So today I showed up with my low-mileage Mustang washed and vacuumed and in showroom condition and they checked her out while I sat in the warm showroom. It's actually quite a large showroom and all of the employees were wearing masks. Everyone whom I spoke with was friendly and helpful. One of the salesmen, Alan, helped me out with the selling process. Super nice guy from start to finish. Very professional, and worked hard to get me as close to the amount I wanted as he could. The manager, Shane, was a really affable guy and took time to discuss my vehicle and an acceptable amount for it. We had a nice convo about Corvettes and cars in general. Both Alan and Shane really went out of their way to accommodate and get a deal done. At this time, i'm taking a couple of days to consider it. Ultimately, VanDevere's offer was substantially better than KBB's cash offer, and I really appreciated that. It was actually a very reasonable offer and we were only off on agreeing to an amount by about $500 so I decided to just put everything on hold for a couple of days while I figure things out. Now I cannot speak about purchasing a vehicle from VanDevere but based on my experience today of trying to sell them my car, I suspect that they would work hard to get me a good deal. Since I've gotten this car I've had numerous of things wrong with it. I've already paid $1,000 in repairs shortly after getting the vehicle which was unacceptable. Also shortly after getting my vehicle my check engine light came on. My check engine light was intermittent so the dealership said they was not able to diagnose the issue with my car. I've been stranded places because of my car turning off and starting back up. I've been pulled over multiple times because I am not able to get my plates on my car. Because my car cannot pass in eCheck I'm now facing charges in court because of driving this car. I took my car to get looked at again and I'm told to fix my vehicle it wil cost $8,000. I supposedly was giving a warranty with this vehicle but funny thing is none of the problems that's wrong with it is being covered. I am stuck with a vehicle I'm unable to fix. I've invested already 11,500 into paying for this car including repairs and I still owe $9,000 on this car, this is absurd. The worst part of all ,if it can get any worse is that the car is unsafe to drive but I have no choice but to drive back and forth to work so I am now putting my life in danger. Not only is this affecting my record, my Financial stability but it's not affecting my safety. Getting this car was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my entire life. What's been done to me is a complete SCAM. I will do everything I can to make sure that everyone knows the type of company this is, the cars they sell&what they do to people's lives! read more

Scheduled an appointment to see a car the day before. Drove 50 miles to see it the next day and it was sold. Instead of telling me and saving me the trip, they waited till they got me there and tried to talk me into a credit application. After I said no, they told me the car was gone the day before. Ridiculous and shady practice. Then I was looking for a tiny hatchback for a work car and they tried to push me into a full size car lol. That place is a joke and if I can deter people from going there, I feel like I have done the right thing. In my entire adult life, this was the shadiest dealer I've dealt with. Come to find out on his drive home the AC isn't working. Worked fine when he dropped it off. My husband and I leased a 2022 Chevy Equinox in September 2022. We turned in our 2020 Equinox that was not due to be turned in until January 2023. We told our salesgirl the Equinox that we would be interested in leasing again would need all the safety equipment our present vehicle had. When we test drove the vehicle, we were told the change lane assist lights that did not come on were due to the fact the button to operate was turned off. After making a decision to lease the new vehicle we drove off the lot, no one explained that the chip to operate that button was never installed. After 2 days when we realized we did Not Know how to turn that safety button on, I called dealer to come in to show us where and how to turn it on. We were used to having this safety light on side view mirrors assist us. We were told to come in! At that time , after many employees looked at the vehicle, we were told this SUV did Not have the proper chip to make it workable. But we were told a chup would be installed as soon as it came in at their expense. At this time the sticker on the window was given to us, not before. One month later , I called about the chip. I was told " No estimated Time before a proper chip would come in to install. it has now been 2 months since we drove that car off the lot. I have dealt with an Asst. Manager, Trisha Lindsey, the Manager, Bob Burger, but no one at VanDevere wants to admit that they were not upfront about telling us about the missing chip before we made the Lease agreement. I just keep getting the same remarks back, it will be installed when it comes in. Also, I was told by the Asst. Manager at one point to come in for the installation because the chip did come in. We had an early appointment,7:30, we got there at 7:15am, to be told , no chip had come in for our vehicle. The Manager who had called us, never even called back to apologize for our inconvenience of going in for no reason. I might add, my husband and I are 79 years old. We have a paper trail of all conversations and emails that have not solved this problem. We would NEVER recommend VanDevere to anyone. We feel VanDevere was not honest with us from Day One. But with todays day and age any business that wants good reviews and repeat business would have refunded my deposit. My daughter talked to someone at the dealership about a car. They told her on the phone that they had it and to come for a test drive. Well we drove from Cleveland to Akron (45 minutes) and get there and they tell us they do not have that vehicle there. The salesman told my daughter that just to get us down there. Took Chevy Cobalt in for a scheduled oil change ($86) that took over 2 hours and came out with only 3 of the 4 hubcaps on the car. Called and they said the hubcap wouldn't go back on car after tire rotation. Said the plastic wore out and they disrespectfully asked if I knew what plastic was. Seems to me like an easy excuse for damaging a part. I expected the car to look the same as it went in. Didn't get an adequate explanation or apology. My previous review needs to be corrected. I was given the incorrect information from a representative from the credit reporting agency. My fraud alerts were untouched and still working. Predatory lenders are what you deal with when your credit isn't up to par. So I bought a 2017 Chevrolet Duramax 2500 from Vandevere in February. While driving home from my purchase, I noticed on the highway that there was a shake in the steering wheel. Its my first 3/4 ton truck so I didn't think much of it until friends rode in it commented that the tires are going to fall off. I then took it to a Chevrolet dealer near me because I'm from the Pittsburgh area. They informed me the radials in the front tires were broke and needed replaced. Its a 4x4 so its meant all 4 tires needed replaced. I contacted Vandevere again about this issue and they said, "the tires aren't covered under warranty." I agreed but advised that I unknowingly bought the truck with defective tires. They did not care and said they couldn't help. I have also found that the vehicle must have been buried in mud because there is mud packed into every compartment that could be hidden from obvious view. For a truck with only 31,000 mikes on it, it had mud buried all through the undercarriage like it was a 5-6 year old truck. When I brought this to the attention of Vandevere, they said, "well, I'm sure they drove it in the mud." This was beyond just driving in mud, this was straight up mud bogging. I know I bought a used truck but when you buy a 2017, you expect it to be in better condition than this truck. If it isn't, I truly believe a reputable dealership would be helpful in some way rather than saying its not our problem. read more

I brought my car in to Vandevere to be looked at on July 8 for an oil change and also to have them quote me on a price to get my doorhandle fixed. My doorhandle had fallen off when I went to open my door previously and I wanted to know the cost to fix it. I received a call stating that it would be $270 and they would have to order my door handle because it needed to be replaced. I asked Anthony in service if he would submit to GM because my car was only two months out of warranty at this point and a car handle should not just fall off the door. Anthony stated that he would submit the quote to GM and get back with me. Three weeks later after not hearing anything I called Anthony back and he was not in that day so I spoke to the manager in service and he said that I would need to bring my car in for a quote that he saw no record of a quote being done. I said that Anthony took my information down and supposedly submitted it already and he said that he would have Anthony call me when he came back in the next day. I didn't receive a call for another three days and Anthony said that it would be $274 and he was discounting me labor for the trouble of waiting for them to call me. I said that the quote was higher than what he had originally told me and he gave me no explanation and I told him I would call him back. I called back a week later and Anthony was not there and I spoke with sam the manager in service and stated that I wanted to schedule to get my doorhandle fixed and asked how much it would be without painting just to replace the part. Sam quoted me 83.74 to just replace the parts and not paint so I said to go ahead and schedule it and he said he would need to order the part. I took my car in the next week to be fixed at 7:30 in the morning and received a call at 2:30 PM from sam stating that they cannot figure out which door handle needed to be fixed. I was extremely frustrated and I said I've been dealing with this for a month and a half and you guys don't even know which door handle you're fixing? He stated so you just don't want the door handle to pop off anymore is that correct? He said that they didn't need to order a part like I had told them. I said I have zero idea what part you would need to be ordered I am the customer I have no idea how to fix this door handle so I would not have told you to order anything that you guys didn't say that you needed. I went back to pick up my car after work and the person that took my car Eric told the other service associate to just give me my keys back that they didn't do anything to my car. He then said that they just needed to tighten a screw and that nothing needed to be done and said that I could just blame Anthony for that and started walking away. I became extremely frustrated and said that's all you're going to say for a month and a half of my time no apology no anything just that you thought I should blame Anthony. He wanted to really make sure we were happy 100% before we made a decision . We also had our 2 small children with us , and with his - no pressure time with us made the experience even more wonderful. I went in for a promotion that they were offering for the 2018 Silverado lease. It's $199 a month for 24 months.. I show them their website with the pictures of it. So I test drive both 2018 and 2019 Silverados just for them to tell me that they don't do leases for the 2018 Silverado and the 2019 don't have the same incentives.. even though it's still showing the special on their website right now. They offered me $749 a month for the 2019 Silverado! They aren't honoring what they are advertising and wasted 4 hours of my time! Never will recommend them to anyone. read more

DO NOT BUY a car from here. They are dishonest and hide critical safety conditions of their vehicles and then refuse to even negotiate on any sort of resolution. My husband and I bought a Chevy Tahoe with only 35k miles from Bo at VanDevere Auto not even a year ago. We had the car shipped from Ohio to California. Upon receiving the vehicle, we discovered significant RUST along with several other mechanical issues that were NEVER disclosed or mentioned. Our family was on the freeway when the brake lines blew due to the rust and were almost in a very bad accident. We have since spent over $2,000 to repair the brakes and were told by 3 mechanics to sell the vehicle because it is not safe. Upon calling VanDever Auto and speaking with Chris Bender and with JERRY VanDevere, he said it wasn't his problem and he was going on vacation and that he would not even send me the safety inspection report of the car so that we may mix anything else. Family company?? They take advantage of trusting car buyers and then will not even discuss a resolution. We are now taking a loss of about $10,0000 for only having the car less than year as we refuse to sell it to a private party since the car is unsafe to drive and we will not be liars like VanDevere Auto. James Bosley I had a negative experience purchasing here. With that being said they had the exact truck that I wanted year and miles. I went to look at a truck that was advertised, I get there and the actual truck had 10,000 more miles on it. But it was the truck that I had wanted so I reluctantly chose to purchase the vehicle. Not even 30 days later, it started rusting from both bedsides where apparent body work had been done. So nowx I have spent $17,000 at this dealership on a truck that has rust and poor craftsmanship to remedy it. I have a quote for $1,700 4 rust repair three months after I bought the vehicle. This company said it was not their problem. And there was nothing they would do. Very very very dissatisfied. read more

I wish I could give zero or negative stars! One star will have to do. My wife was losing her company vehicle so we decided to take the 45 min ride to VanDevere to see what options were available. After walking in, seeing Joe and a few vehicles we decided to lease a new trax. Everything went well and was fine for 3 months until the phone calls started reminding us that we "needed to call back and schedule an oil change". Let's see... in 3 months she put roughly 600 miles on her car, how could it be ready for an oil change already?? We caved in and scheduled an appointment for the following week. After I found out that the first oil change was paid for by Chevy I thought "why not" and took it in. When I arrived they checked me in and said why are you here It's not time for your first oil change? Really!!! After a few minutes I decided that I was there and it was free so let's just get it done. Fast forward 6 months and another phone call came demanding that we get the oil changed. This time there was about 1000 miles on the current oil and the owners manual says every 7500 miles so I am thinking it wasn't time. After a few more calls I finally answered and was told that we were overdue for the latest service. After a 5 min discussion I asked "so if my wife drives down and gets her oil changed and drives home (21 miles each way) and doesn't put another mile on her car does the oil need to be changed?" I was told absolutely, the warranty papers that you signed state ever 6 months or 7500 miles and after checking they certainly do. He also reminded us that the work needed to be performed at the dealer or I needed pre approval to get it done somewhere else. WHAT??! So my wife's car now has 4900 miles on it (3300 when purchased) and has had 3 oil changes. Makes no sense to me but we will honor the agreement that we signed however four more oil changes and they can have their vehicle back! They advertise 0 down and 179.00 per month on a 2020 Chevy equinox when l got a price per month from their sales manager that 179.00 grew to 294.00 per month. He said that was the tax and title added on. 115.00 per month equals over 4000.00 for 36 months. I think their television ads should tell the whole story. Seems like false advertising. We purchased an expensive Chevy automobile from VanDevere this past year. Although the automobile itself is very good (thank you Chevy), the level of customer care, customer communication, and after-sale vehicle service at VanDevere was deplorable, among the worst I have ever experienced (and this maybe the tenth Chevy I've purchased in my life). They did not do a good job of communicating throughout the sale process or when I had the vehicle in for after-sale service. They missed several obvious defects on the vehicle that they should have proactively caught and fixed. They missed several promise dates/deadlines, often without even telling us, which wasted a lot of our time. The financing process is creepy because they video record you while you sign the paperwork. They totally botched the license plate and registration process, and their excuse was that they didn't realize they were the ones who did the financing (duh). When I escalated these issues to their senior management, I got no response. Last month, I bought my next vehicle from a different dealer in the Akron area, and there was a WORLD of difference in the customer experience. The VanDevere "bunch" is off my list, permanently. They don't live up to their "bunch" of advertising at all. P.S. Their "free" car wash is a gimmick - hard to get in, when it's even open, and you're paying for it anyway in the cost of the vehicle. We saw an ad for a SUV lease that seemed too good to be true, and called to verify the info was correct...as we live more than an hour away...After being told YES, we drove MORE THAN AN HOUR to visit this place in hopes we could finally get the SUV of our family's dreams. We walked in, impressed with the layout, and the fact they had a small area for kids, snacks and drinks included. Unfortunately, that's where the good part ended. They took up 2 hours of our time, let us test drive the SUV we were there to lease, let my kids literally fall in love with it, then walked back out with the "numbers". $200 dollars MORE PER MONTH THAN THE AD STATES. I was in shock. Total disbelief. They come back, oh, well, we added more miles per year to your package. Problem #1. They knew we only needed 10,000 miles per year. They knew we could only afford the price stated in the ad... so whhhhhy would you ad miles to the package?!? Thennnn they go on to say that the price we saw in the ad is only if you meet every single requirement for discounts. WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE TOLD US THAT ON THE PHONE?!?! We physically packed up our kids, put them back in our current vehicle. During this time, some other gentleman came out THREE different times with "lower" numbers. They came out AGAIN as we were pulling away, with the lowest number yet, but still not what was seen in the ad. By this time, unless we got the SUV, for the price we came there for, it wasn't going to happen. Not to mention the level of our anger got higher each time they came back to us with a lower number. You should have had that price the first time! All in all, we drove more than 2 hours round trip to be taken advantage of, and I won't take that. Never again. I hope at least one person learns from my mistake... if I even made one, because I even called before I made the trip to make sure the lease deal was accurate. So disaapointed in this place. You made not only my husband and myself sad, but my 2 little boys who couldn't understand why we would travel so far to come back home with nothing. read more

I used there shuttle service for an oil change. They picked my car up at 9:00 AM. I let them know I needed my car back by 4:00 PM. They told me no problem. Received a call at 3:40 that they were a little behind but they just finished and my car was being brought back very soon. Waited until 4:20 called VanDevere again and was told by Anthony all the valet drivers were on deliveries and my car should be leaving soon soon. At this point I have now missed 2 appointments I had scheduled and had to reschedule them. At 4:36 Anthony calls me and says my car is leaving shortly. I am 31 minutes away. Finally at 5:51 my car arrives at my place of business which has been closed since 5:00. Manager did not call me back. I called in the morning and talked to Sam VanDevere and his attitude was very condescending like I shouldn't be upset.  At $84 for an oil change, which is outrageous anyway, you think the service would be better. I won't recommend this place for any service. For a company whos slogan is we don't treat you lik a corporation we treat you like family, pretty sure I don't want to be in their family. read more

I can't believe what happened when I went to this dealership, I had an appointment to look at a Cadillac and wanted to buy it from a salesman that I bought from previously, so when I left work I called the dealership and got a hold of this dealership and told him that I was coming in to look at the Cadillac, a man on the phone said the car was there and it would be there when I got there, when I showed up at the dealership they didn't have the Cadillac that I wanted and I asked for the salesman I had the appointment with, and I was told that they didn't work on commission no big deal they brought out a different Cadillac and I explained to the salesman that I did not want in all-wheel drive Cadillac, 6 hours later I gave in and bought the Cadillac, I have never had a car that I cannot stand more than that Cadillac and after telling the salesman I didn't want to know I will drive one the cars all wheel drive, I cannot believe the deception and the lying that went on , I realize it's my fault for buying the car anyway and I'm in the process of figuring out how to get rid of it but I wouldn't recommend anybody going to the steelership with tactics like that. The salesman did call and asked me how I like the car and I told him I didn't like it and I told him how I told him six times I didn't want it all wheel drive and his closing line was will you bought the car anyway. read more

I have purchased 2 used vehicles and 1 new vehicle from VanDevere in the past 3 years. I had to trade in a Honda Ridgeline 1 year after I purchased from Vandervere because the rear end was completely rusted out and it was not viewable from just looking under it when I bought the truck. Needless to say I had to trade it in on a new truck because of safety issues. So, I was stuck with the negative equity. My daughter's Ford Focus has had nothing but issues with the transmission and is in the shop once or twice a year. We just had it in their shop 3 weeks ago and work was done under warranty again plus maintenance work (which should have told us that we needed new tires and an alignment). We took the car back in today for vibration. We are being charged $115.00 + tax to tell me that it needs new tires and an alignment. This should have been a free diagnosis because they missed it 3 weeks ago. If they would have driven it and looked at the tires they could have told me the same thing, just like a normal mechanic would have done. The Warranty Forever is a GIMMICK.... will no longer be taking my vehicles back to Vandevere for any services. read more
