A bachelorette party spa afternoon brought me to this quaint little spa-salon on Mill Avenue. Situated conveniently right off of Mill Avenue, you could also miss this little house that has convenient parking behind itself. You have to drive past Subway and past Subway's parking lot and turn right into a small alleyway to access the parking to this spa. This spa had a Portland vibe to it, since it's located in a little house. It's very welcoming and "warm" feeling on the inside. Our spa bachelorette spa party consisted of at least 10 girls so it was slightly difficult to accomodate us all getting pedicures and manicures at the same time. There weren't as many chairs available so some of us were persuaded to try some of their other services, one of which included massages. The massage room was very tranquil, and had two massage beds next to each other. The massage therapists were very professional. However, this was the first massage I've ever had at a salon so the experience was very new to me. The girl that worked on me was very friendly and takes her job very seriously. She explained how it's important to keep breathing, and every time she reached a "knot" somewhere, she told me to take even deeper breaths. She explained how it's important to stay well hydrated and explained that I might even feel sore the next day. I really had no idea there was so much involved with getting a relaxing massage but I am grateful for her thorough and communicative time with me. I'm usually not in Tempe, but I would definitely recommend getting a massage here. My sister in law received a manicure, but it seemd slightly rushed and her nails only turned out "okay." She thought that she could have done a similar job painting her own nails at home and wished that a massage came with the manicure as well, so one could see how she was disappointed in her experience. I guess most places even with the $20-30 manicures, the manicurists typically gives somewhat of a hand massage in the process. I don't get them often though, so I felt bad that my sister in law's experience wasn't as nice as mine. read more

What a breath of fresh air. This little place had such a welcoming feel and convenient location. I saw Jessica for a cut and style and I have to admit I was super nervous. I am mixed race with unpredictable curly hair. Jessica assured me that she knew how to do ethnic hair and she did not disappoint! She was able to perfectly blow out my hair without pulling my head in pain in every which direction. And to top it off- she was super quick! read more

I've only had three hairstylists in my life, and that's due to my super pickiness! If you want someone that is literally great at everything hair, you definitely need to go see Jessica West! She cuts great, she styles amazing, and she always does great color for my friends and I -regardless if you want traditional color or highlights, or you want an hombre or vibrant color. Some stylists only style one way and that way for everyone, but Jessica literally can style a teenager's hair and then set my moms hair who is 80 years old and each style fits the person! Her special event styles are always unique and different! She recently did my hair for my wedding along with my friends hair, keep in mind we are girls that really never fix her hair that much so she made us look amazing, love her! read more

The salon has recently been renovated and is bright and cheerful, with a definite funky vibe. It is a converted home and is vintage chic. I booked online the night before without having to be a returning client which was awesome, all they needed what a credit card to hold the appointment. When I arrived I love the relaxed atmosphere, and a yoga session was just ending in the back of the salon. I went to "Vanity on Mill" in Tempe for the first time in May and the place is adorable. Cute little brown stone place with funky decor in each room of this house turned Salon. I like the relaxed atmosphere of this salon; the decor and color look and fill all works out for this place not too far from downtown Mill. I had a hair cut here and it came out very well; they take their time cutting your hair. I came here after I was disappointed in another cut I had another place and one of the ladies there fixed it for me for free while I was waiting for other service. Hands down the best salon visit I've ever had! I saw Michelle for a color and trim. I have blonde, very fine but dense hair and haven't colored my hair in six years (after a traumatizing experience of being administered straight peroxide to go back to blonde after a collegiate experiment with dark hair). I explained that I wanted to just brighten the look of my hair and look natural with very little maintenance required. She explained what she was going to do based on my hair type and what I wanted and the end result was beyond fantastic! As I said, I've never been so happy with my hair. It took several phone calls to get an appointment because no one answers the phone! I played phone tag with someone because every time I called back, no one answered - even though it was during business hours. I pre-paid for five laser sessions and every time I go, the lady never knows my name (even though I am on the schedule). When we get into the laser room, she says, "What is your name?" "What are you here for?" Can't she look this up and at least sound like she does know? The laser is not work so I'm disappointed that I paid all the money. so this just happened... staying in a hotel in tempe and didn't rent a car- so i am exploring tempe on foot. so i went in to this spa/salon looking to get a relaxing 80 minute massage. nicki b. says i could come back in a couple of hours for it...& i did. she then felt awful that i returned but wasn't able to get my massage. BUT THEN SHE OFFERED TO WASH MY HAIR AND BLOW IT OUT FOR FREE! who does that? she's got the sweetest personality, best customer service attitude with so much charm & grace. if i lived here, I would be a regular. i think i look quite fabulous & am feeling quite sexy now - ready to meet up with a high school friend I haven't seen in decades. mahalo (thanks) nicki! While, I have heard nothing but praise about Nicki.. She is not who I am reviewing, I went saw Shelby the other weekend for a small trim and full highlight. I instructed Shelby when I sat down,t hat I was growing my hair out for the first time in almost 20 years and I am taking biotin to assist with that, I DO NOT want it cut, trimmed maybe half an inch and thinned. With coloring I wanted it a very light blonde (google a photo of Juliana Hough blonde that is what I wanted) I have naturally dirty blonde hair, so it's not hard to lift. She proceeded to hack my hair off shorter than I have ever had it ( and i usually keep it on the shorter side) it is now above my chin, choppy and completely uneven, and my color looks exactly the same. $120 later, I am very disappointed. My friend went here and she is dealing with rude management and unprofessional people. The stylist (nikki) claimed she can make her hair a certain color and instead it was something that was way out of the norm. She advised her that after a few washes it will fade to what she wanted. I saw my friend get escorted out of work because of the color. Not only did they want to get paid for this mess THEY caused her, but called fraud ON HER when something personal happened in her life. Manager hung up on her. Stylist won't take blame for letting the poor girl walk out with damaged hair. Now they are treating her like a criminal for taking a stand and not paying. Sorry but if that was my hair I wouldn't of trusted the stylist first off by saying "a few washes will fix it" and then 2nd taking a managers unprofessional approach to my friends situation. All the manager cared about was is the stylist going to get paid. Ummm what about my friends hair! It's falling out and she missed WORK because of it! DON'T GO HERE!!
