Spur of the moment scheduled an appointment and came in with neutral expectations, nervous because of how long my hair was. Ella was my stylist and she made me feel very welcome and comfortable. She ended up cutting off about nine inches of hair and I was super nervous that it would end up too short, but she perfectly cut my hair just like my inspiration pictures and I have never been happier. So, they offer a 15-minute consultation where you can go in and have one of their hairdressers look at your hair, ask you questions and listen to your concerns. They they offer their solution. I have not been disappointed. Dina is a listener first. She asks the right questions, and tries, in all ways, to meet my needs. My bangs were bothering me as they were at my nose. I made an appointment for a BANG TRIM. Not hard, except for Melissa... she was challenged, so she got another woman over to help, and she realized it was botched beyond repair. Come back in 3 weeks next it grows out and we can fix it. If you are a male with medium to longer hair, and like your hair around the same length run if you get Melissa. She doesn't know how to stop cutting and I am starting to think she either one doesn't care about haircuts and puts minimum effort into them, or two simply doesn't care about my haircut. I've received a hair cut twice from her, first time was too short, but it grew out fine. The second time was completely butchered. She used clippers entire time, ignored my requests to ease up on it and in fact doubled down and cut my hair even shorter in the back and sides, when I specifically asked for layers. She only briefly used scissors, but continued to rely on the clippers. When her next appointment came she rushed me out didn't let me even see the sides or the back. I am going to a wedding this weekend with this hair. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! From start to finish, this was the worst salon experience. It started by meeting the stylist Melissa, you could tell before she even started that she was done cutting hair for the day. I was excited because she had curly hair and I felt I was in good hands. Boy was I wrong. I explained that I wanted some body to my hair or a style--something to bring my hair back to life. I also was going in for a deep condition treatment in addition. She informed me that a gloss would be better. I said you know best let's do it. Another mistake, I should have just got the deep condition. I get my hair washed and glossed then head to the chair for the cut. From this point, I attempted to conversate with Melissa but it became like pulling teeth. It was obvious she wanted to be done. I even asked about curly hair and how to help maintain the curls. At one point she referred to curly hair with mousse in it as crusty, Melissa stated that they do not style hair but she would do it for me this once. Another mistake! When she had finished I was truly uncomfortable with my results. I was mortified to tell her I saw no difference in my hair. From that point, I paid and left. I went home and immediately took pictures of my hair. I attached the photos from after my salon visit. I thought to myself, maybe I need to style it myself to make it look better. The next day even after I styled it my hair looked the same. I called the salon the next day and informed them of my experience and that I wanted a refund to go to another salon to get the result I was looking for. I expressed my uncomfortablity in coming in. I did not want my hair touched again by anyone at the salon. I was told to give them a few days and they would respond to me. 5 days had passed by and I had still heard nothing. I called again and I was informed I would receive a text message with an answer. Hours later they told me that I needed to come into the salon after sending photos of my hair and expressing not wanting to go in due to feeling uncomfortable. I have attached the messages from the salon. The customer experience was awful and the customer service in response is just as bad. Do not come here! read more

After doing much research, Grooming Humans Hair Studio is one of the only salons in the Phoenix Valley that will install and cut a toupee. The owner of the salon "Brad" has been styling men's wigs for 40+ years and even has a special hair cutting station "in the back" so customers can feel comfortable and be discreet with this often sensitive and personal topic. Aside from this niche, the rest of the salon has a pretty cool vibe and had a mixture of young customers (ASU is just up the road) and of older people (several senior communities nearby). The building is modern and has a covered patio area outside...not sure if this is for the staff, customers or both, but you definitely feel relaxed while waiting for your appointment. The music playing in the salon was SiriusXM's 80's on 8, which is fine be me as that station is my jam! I also observed the two stylists working at the time were both friendly and engaged with their clients. All in all, a great first encounter with this salon!!! read more

My experience was 10/10! Best haircut I've ever gotten since being a kid and lucking out with a sweet older Hispanic woman at a JCPenny's that's now closed. My stylist (I think Talia was her name!) was so knowledgeable and helpful. She was very attentive to my specific needs (gave me options to keep it longer if I wanted or to cut more split ends off- I went with her recommendation), and made me feel like I was getting a trendy celebrity haircut! Terrible customer service. I called to tell them that I wouldn't be able to make it to my appointment due to a family emergency. The lady on the phone was EXTREMELY RUDE. She told me there was a 24 hour cancellation policy which I was unaware of since I've never been there before. Also they never called to confirm this appointment or go over the appointment protocols. She really knows how to cut hair so that it falls just right. I always used to have to dry my hair and then use a curling iron or something to get the right shape. Their prices were not posted and when I asked for a senior discount they took $5 off because the stylist did not wash my hair. When I left I felt very taken advantage of. Erika gets me. Really. Actually, I think she gets everyone. She is great at reading people and interpreting what they actually want when they sound a little confused. Over the summer I decided to cut off a large amount of hair. I brought Erika a couple of pictures that probably did not have anything to do with one another, but I sat down and she knew what I wanted. I have loved every haircut I have gotten from her. Hubski's mom was in town a few months ago. After getting a terrible haircut at an overpriced salon in West Hollywood, she saw my hair and insisted we make an appointment for her right away. This conversation ensued: "Mamechka, the place I go is a little punky." "OK" "Erika has tattoos and piercings, and green hair." "OK, vat's de problem?" We went that afternoon and now she can't stop raving about Erika. The haircut was fabulous and much less expensive than the one Erika had to fix. She's a badass. Great service near Asu. I've been coming here since 2004, long before bright colored hair was trendy. I've followed a few stylists to other places but this remains my go to for last min things and my recommendation for friends wanting good service, reasonable prices, and people who can do fun edgy stuff. Ive seen probably a dozen stylists here over the years- they've dyed my hair every color of the rainbow, permed it, chopped it off, and I've never been unhappy (well, except that one time and they went through everything to fix it. Since I've moved to Phoenix I have been getting my hair cut by Erica. She does a great job with a simple cut that looks polished and excellent highlights. Oh, and she doesn't judge me when I come in an almost 3 month rotation to reduce beauty maintenance costs. I used to avoid conversations with stylists, but Erica makes me feel really comfortable.
