It's been time to look for a new pair of Vans for me, so I thought I'd stop in while I was here. Nothing stood out, they have more than enough options to choose from I'm just picky and I think ultimately I'm gonna have to go with their online option of designing your own, BUT this place was super nice and helpful. I was in with 3 other people and the employees made sure to ask all of us if we needed any help finding anything. We were all kind of browsing but it was nice. I'm not a follower of sneaker brands, but my youngest kid is and she's a HUGE fan of the Vans brand, saying they are of super quality and are "cool". So I ventured in this store this past weekend to check it out. Sure enough, there were a gazillion fun designs on the slip-on sneakers, including glow in the dark models, and you can custom-make your own sneaker designs, too. I wanted a few sneaker models myself! They had sneakers for different purposes, too, and for men, women, boys and girls alike. The quality did seem high, as did the prices, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I was not expecting to see clothing and accessories here: shirts and sweatshirts and some jackets, hats and scarves, socks, cute keychains and more. And some shirts were on sale for pretty decent prices - and as a bonus, if you bought one, you'd get the second one half off. Even on the sale shirts! So I got my kid 2 t-shirts. Granted, purchasing them took a long time as there was only one cashier staffed and the clerk ringing up folks was SO slow, many of us in line were grumbling after waiting nearly 10 minutes with no movement in the line. Finally they opened up the second cash and the line began to move. Fast forward a few days: my kid adored the shirts but said they were too big. I remember the sales clerk saying to retain the receipt if there were any problems, so I searched high and low for said receipt but it was nowhere to be found! I called the store today and Eli assured me that the receipt was not needed, I can come by and swap out the shirts. And sure enough, after work I swung by Bell Square and presented the two t-shirts and the clerk there walked the store and found for me the two identical shirts in a smaller size and I was out of the store within 5 minutes. Painless and smooth exchange - even without the receipt. Thanks, Eli! Thanks, Van! My kid is thrilled with the shirts (they fit perfectly!) and we will definitely be back! read more

I generally don't like shopping at mall stores and corporate chains but I have to admit Shopping at the Vans store was the best experience I've ever had shopping at bel square mall. I came to the store because I ordered a pair of Vans online from another vendor and the pair that I ordered was a size 6.5 in a men's 10.5 box. I was able to find exactly what I needed and wanted at an affordable price and the service was good and it was refreshing to be helped by a real person (and an actual skateboarder) in a world where shopping is fully automated and online orders dominate. Even at a corporate level Vans is the ultimate core skateboard company. They have been able to do what other brands haven't when it comes to skate shoes. They are vertically integrated, direct to consumer AND they support local skate shops. If you are looking for skate shoes or are just a fan of their shoes I would highly recommend. read more

There are two listings for the same store here on Yelp. This one has a more accurate location listed. I didn't experience any difficulties with the customer service here as I was drawn in by a shirt I saw while passing by on my way to Nordstrom. As I headed back to my car I decided to drop in and take a closer look at the shirt I saw earlier. It truly was love at first sight.. I spotted the plaid flannel rack and an equally amazing plaid flannel hat on the rack adjacent to it. I tried on the shirt over what I was wearing and checked myself out in the mirror between the shelves. Within 10 minutes I had checked out and was happily on my way with my new happy flannel plaid products. No issues, no complaints. Just a happy customer loving her Vans products! read more

VANS slip-ons bring back fond memories of Socal, sun-bleached hair, the call of the beach. Here in Seattle, we may not have enough sun, nor the crash of waves, but the VANS company wants its salespeople to look the part. Peroxide bleached hair, check. Fake-baked to a rich mahogany hue, check. IQ maxed at 75, check. Last weekend, my 5-yr old son decided that some cool VANS were the school shoe of choice this year. Not great for arch support, the mom in me thought, but the absence of laces would be a daily time-savings bonus. Great choice, I agreed. The Bellevue Square VANS store wasn't crowded, but all three sales people had customers, so we scanned the wall o'shoes while waiting our turn. Not that I don't love to wait for long stretches of time while being studiously ignored (apparently the concept of eye contact and a quick, "I'll be right with you," doesn't exist in skaterville), but I did have to summon all my patience because I knew that the selection here greatly surpassed what was available at Nordstrom next door. When I finally managed to flag down a salesgirl, I was saddened to observe that she was overwhelmed with multi-tasking, barely able to acknowledge us, while simultaneously stacking the boxes of unpurchased shoes from the last customer. Saddened, that is, until I started blacking out from the purgatory of her smoker's breath, a noxious cloud that threatened to drive me straight out of the store. Somehow, through sheer strength of will, I regained my composure, readjusted my personal space to keep her a safe three feet away, and asked her to measure my son's feet for size. She pulled out a measuring device, a variation of which is found in all shoe stores. Simple. The first thing I noticed when she told me my son's feet were a size 2, which meant they had virtually doubled in size this summer, was that she incorrectly measured, leaving an enormous gap between his heel and the back edge . I tried to be polite and not call attention to her obvious ineptitude, and instead, asked my son to stand on the device again, sliding his foot back, as she measured. This time, it indicated that his feet had still grown several sizes, which seemed impossible, so I took it upon myself to do the measurement, after she left to retrieve his shoes. This is when I realized that she had been using the device backward, placing his heels against the wrong end. Oy. Anyway, I just told her the correct size at this point, which was a 10.5, to bypass the painstakingly long, multi-step process of her own discovery. However, unwilling to budge on the full shoe-shopping experience, the salesgirl brought the correct size, but the wrong color. If commission is paid on effort and time wasted, this girl is in the money. In the end, though I had to embrace my inner calm to endure this experience, my son ended up with shoes he loves, in the correct size, which is mission accomplished. Sigh. Great selection, many sizes out of stock, ridiculously inept salespeople. Shop at your own risk. read more

I have read Michele's review, and I'm blown away - I think it was a fluke and from her experience, was probably related to the back to school "rush" that many retailers experience that time of year. I'm not calling out whether it happened or not, but I'd just like to say that I've shopped there about a dozen times since they've opened (around a year ago?) and have always had a great experience. My experience so far (with multiple sales people) has been wonderful. I find their selection of Vans to be awesome - although I WISH they had a skate shop as well (hoping they'll add that). Their policies around returns or exchanges is really good also - I've had things not fit right and no problems. For the record - as a kid, I lived just over the hill in SoCal (simi valley) from where the first VANS store was built and had my first pair of slip-on's (blue/grey) in 7th grade (in the mid-70')s...that was my last pair as well. My husband and I are both Vans fans for life. We went to this store (it being the most convenient to home) last year when he'd ordered a pair of Old Skools for himself from vans.com that didn't fit quite right. We walked from the bus stop and through the mall as quickly as possible, knowing there was no way to hide from the yuppie stinkeye. The kids in the store were extremely helpful and kind, letting my husband exchange his shoes for another pair in the same size which fit correctly. Apparently the shape and fit of Vans shoes can vary depending on which factory they were made in, so it's definitely advisable to BUY THEM IN STORE. The salesperson will quite probably know the secret markings on the sole to determine which factory produces the fit you like best. When you know the right code, it will be one you can stick with (I'm guessing.) Try on all the pairs in your own size of the style you want, so you don't get a pair that looks funny shaped or fits oddly tight on certain toes. When you have found the perfect one for your feet, go buy it and enjoy your new Vans till they get old and fall off your feet! read more

Horrible service. My husband and I went in on a slow Saturday morning and the two employees there were more interested in chatting with each other than helping any customers. Four other customers were looking at shoes. We were not greeted and they didn't even look up from their conversation. After a few minutes an additional employee came out of the back room (clearly helping two of the other customers in the store). Asked if we had been helped and when we said no he directed the two employees to help us and the other customers waiting for service. "Zoltan" begrudgingly helped us, if helping us is trying to get by husband to buy a size that doesn't fit, and had a terrible attitude when I asked him to call another store to find what we actually needed. I was homeless, sleeping on a church floor in the heart of the Illustrious Downtown Bellevue in the evenings.. when.. low and behold! the sole of my boot finally gave way while walking the Mercer Slough Wetlands. I came to this Vans store for help and was greeted like an old flame. Salesman could smell my intent to purchase along with my week old sock. He measured my foot. He told me he just moved from Lake Tahoe. I wore my new Vans out of the store and he asked if I wanted to keep the box. I said, YES. My boots need a coffin and a proper burial. I was absolutely blown away by the customer service at this store. I have a semi prosthetic brace which requires me to wear 2 very different sized shoes, and the employees at this vans store went above and beyond to help me find the perfect shoes and didn't charge extra for the two sizes. I had originally come to the mall for Nordstrom because they advertise for this specialty, but I received far better assistance and selection at vans! read more

It is awesome to know that Vans stands behind their product - that is unless you actually wear it. Six months after purchasing a pair of Vans the rubber sole is completely pulling away from the fabric, this is apparently not the fault of the shoe design, but of how I walk and is clearly not a concern of this store. read more

I have gone to this particular vans store many times, and after a couple very frustrating trips I have finally decided to write a review. Most times that I have come here the employees have been very nice and helpful and gone out of their way to help me. However, I have also been treated like crap and the last time I went was one of the worst. I can't fully blame the sales people for being overwhelmed since it was black friday weekend, but I also don't think that they handled the amount of customers very well. I was told multiple times by sales people that they'd "be right back" with my shoes only to have them completely forget about me. They were all younger sales people so I assume that they were seasonal hires or something but still. Also, I went to to this vans store during the summer and the girl working was so rude to me that I asked her to speak to a manager, only to find out that she was the on duty manager. Instead of being friendly or helpful she spent the whole time glaring at me and my boyfriend like we were going to steal , and when she did talk to us she had a very rude tone of voice. Not to mention that the nose ring and gauges didn't seem appropriate for bellevue square. i also heard her yelling at the poor sales kid who was helping us with shoes, and I seriously though the sales girl was going to start crying. I didn't see this manager girl when I went recently so I can only hope for the sake of other customer and the employees there that she no longer works there read more
