Van has amazing food and their service is excellent and they are very attentive to their customers.

We used to go to Van's all the time, but today we went in and the place next to them was having a party. The music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. So we went to the bar area and asked if we could put two tables together as there was only one large table which was occupied. They said no, they were not allowed to move tables. She called the manager and the manager said no also. So we went to eat somewhere else. What has happened to customer service?? We will not be returning to Van's again. read more

Customer Feedback: Today, my wife and I came back into town and decided to stop by for some fried mushrooms and dinner. We seated ourselves and were right behind another party that had arrived just before us. Shortly after, another couple came in, and a young waitress grabbed menus and walked past our table without acknowledging us. I politely said, "Excuse me," but she responded rudely with, "I KNOW," and continued taking the other table's drink order. This kind of attitude is exactly what's wrong with the current workforce--there's a real lack of basic customer service. I've been to Van's numerous times and always enjoyed the food and the staff, but this experience was disappointing and left a bad impression. Now I understand why my buddy, who's from here, always says "It's alright" when asked about Van's. read more

Man I loved this place. Local burger spot that didn't not miss. I ordered their low carb option. A two beef patty option with cheese. Veggies and avocado on the side. The patties were good and juicy! I also added bacon to mine and they were not stingy with the bacon at all. I took down the whole thing! My waitress was super friendly and attentive. There was quite a bit of people, but no issues getting a table for myself. I will definitely stop here again if I am ever passing by on my way out of south Texas. read more

My husband and I met a friend here for dinner. It's a little dark. Service was good. We started off with fried green beans and fried jalapeños both came out hot in temperature and the jalapeños brought the heat in your mouth! We got fried catfish, a taco salad and our friend got a burger. The catfish was the star, it was delicious, fried well and moist and flaky it comes with fries and hush puppies. The taco salad was a little off, the greens were fresh but the meat was an unseasoned hamburger patty. Our friends hamburger looked good and he ate the entire thing so I guess he liked it. If you like beer or margaritas from a machine this is your place. No old fashions could be made and the wine is little airplane sized bottles, one red and one white, with the wine I had rather that than a bottle that's been open for months. The service was extremely poor. It took 30 minutes for a waiter to come and take our drink order, and we should have left after that. Finally, the waiter brought us a menu and insisted that we place our order immediately. Now, we're still waiting another hour for our food, if it ever arrives. read more

Took a detour and made it out to Vans. Our server recommended the 1/2 and 1/2 appetizer, with cheese curds. She was very helpful and should was so right about the cheese curds! The drinks were refilled without having to flag down the server. Major points for that. My daughter ordered the chicken straps, which she enjoyed. She enjoyed the crunch and the chicken was moist. The highlight for her were the fries. My double burger was huge and very filing. My only complaint was the patties were under seasoned. The char on the burgers provided a nice textual element to contast the soft bun. Speaking of the bun... this is just my preference and takes a good burger to a great burger. I prefer my buns buttered and toasted. Perhaps you have to ask to have this done, and it's my fault for not asking. But when your burger arrives and it's got that shiny sheen to it with a little toasted char on top? That's next level. All in all it was a good experience and I would be back soon. read more

Another disappointment, appetizer basket sucked. Fried Zucchini cut 1/2 inch thick, raw and cold. Ask for a manager to complain to and there is NEVER one there. Air head wait staff can never do anything to rectify the problem! I am a local and I am SICK of taking a 50 50 shot chance on how the food or service is going to be there today! This time ripped it! Forgot to take a pic before we ate most of it! The chicken tenders were juicy and the batter was light and delicious. Sweet potato fries were perfect. My husband had fish and shrimp. Shrimp were fresh and very big. Catfish also was very fresh and yummy. Onion rings were crispy and light. Sweet tea will give you diabetes but was soooooooooo good. We are staying at a nearby hotel and was looking for a place to eat. This place popped up and wanted to give it a try. If you are in a hurry then don't come here. We waited an hour for our food. On the other hand, our food was nice and hot when we got it. When we walked in, we could sit anywhere. There are lots of tvs around to catch up on some sports and the staff was friendly. My dad ate the hoagie sandwich and he said it was tasty. It was a little on the greasy side but that's to be expected. It reminded him of a Philly cheesesteak. I got the lineman burger with two patties. It was tasty! The prices are very reasonable. The mozzarella sticks came with six so this was a good appetizer for our hour wait. I went in for lunch today 04/16/25, it took them 20 minutes to see what we wanted to drink. We already knew what we wanted to eat so we ordered our food as well. Ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I asked my server Arianna for the pirate burger with lettuce, pickles and cheese ONLY, she verified that I didn't want any condiments on it. Well 10 minutes later the mozzarella sticks came out with no marinara sauce and we still don't have our drinks. Arianna was no where to be found so I had to ask a different server for marinara sauce. Arianna brought out our sauce and we were still waiting on our drinks. She finally brought us our drinks and a few minutes later our food came out. Right away I let her know that my burger was made wrong and it had mayo on it. She took it back and brought it out right away. All they did was take off the tomato and onions and put lettuce and pickles, it still had the juice from the tomatoes and it had mayo still. I told her that it still had mayo and she had an ugly attitude and told me that I didn't ask for no mayo. I gave her just the burger back and she gave me attitude because I didn't give her the whole tray back. I wasn't gonna give her back the tray cause I wanted something to eat so I was eating the fries. At this point the person I'm eating with already finished their food and I need a refill on my drink. My burger finally comes out, and all they did was wipe off the condiments. I took 2 bites of the burger and noticed it still had tomato pieces on the burger and it has mustard. I tried looking for our server and couldnt find her. I someone else to get a manager for us and was told there was no manage. So we explained to that waitress what was wrong and Arianna our server came back and said that since I took a bite of the burger I had to pay for it because the burger she brought me didn't have any mustard on it. I took the bun off the burger and showed her the mustard and she didn't say anything. It was ridiculous having to deal with Arianna and her attitude. All the burgers they brought out to me were the same burger just wiping the condiments off and changing the toppings. I am very disappointed in the way she handled things and management needs to do something about this. read more
