Foggy, the store Manager! made a purchase up for a shoe at a different location. Called up a nearby store , Foggy answered. I told her my situation with a pair of shoes that dug into my heels, and I bled on the shoes. She was so kind and so patient and told me to bring them in, assess the shoe and saw that I really wasn't kidding and they made my heels bleed. She set them aside helped me find another pair that was more fitting with my foot size. Handed me an alcohol wipe a Band-Aid and opened up a new pair of socks that I could wear. She completed the exchange hassle, free with a very welcoming and warm embrace with my situation, and the reason that it stuck out to me so much was that I was expected to be turned away, having lost money on these pair of shoes as well as the pain that the pair of shoes has caused me. I have shopped this store twice. First time I felt like I was bothering them. I was looking for a kids size in the kid area only to be told I was looking in the wrong place. Was made to feel a little stupid. Got what I needed fast but paid a lot for a boys pair of shoes I thought. Second time I really needed these shoes so I had to go to that store. I went to the section I was told last time only to be told I was again looking in the wrong section. Again both girls were rude . The one who checked me out was on her phone. Just got some customs online with a big pic of my daughters cute face on them and custom black and red components and they are the coolest shoes ever.. only $100, $75 after my coupon! I'm sure I won't spell her name right but, Tami was amazing! In fact, every employee I had an interaction with was friendly, helpful, and professional. My adult son is on the autism spectrum and is very particular about his shoes. His favorite shoes were recently discontinued (Stefan Janowski Nike skate shoe) so, finding a replacement has been challenging. I probably would have given only 4 stars because the shoe he actually wanted, was at the bottom of a large shipment that had just come in. I am very disappointed in this Vans Store. I purchased a sweatshirt online and received a email stating it was canceled. I ask the gentleman (Stanford) that the email was confusing. I had to ask him to look my order up. He said that it was canceled. The other email said I had 2 days to pick it up. I ask him if he check with other stores to see if anyone else had one. He said no but you can call and see if they have one. Great customer service skills. It's Christmas and in a pandemic. I don't understand how people think. I would have called other surrounding store and call the customer and ask if it was okay to pick up in another store. I have worked my whole life in customer service. Where the Vans store shines is the selection of Vans. The only other place I've seen so many choices for Vans in a store is in New York. And well, New York is New York so no complaints there. The service was good and the store was clean. So if you want to gawk at expensive Vans, head on over. Do not expect amazing service here. You have to have guessed already a bunch of skaters and surfer work here. Despite that, I got great service. Have brought my son in numerous times for shoes and the guys are always so nice and extremely helpful and always measure his foot first to see which size he's in bc he's growing so fast. Last week we went in w/o him and a super cool dude helped us (Nick) with which skateboard he should have for his age/height. He had been using an old one that was really small. Came to this location with my husband to buy him a pair of SK8 Hi Vans as well as another similar pair as a gift for a young man. The staff was friendly and attentive and we were helped in particular by Shane S, who not only laced the shoes for us prior to them being tried on but recommended the Pro Style SK8 Hi Vans that look basically the same but have a very cushiony insole and are more sturdy on the outside - for a difference of only $5. We purchased both pairs of shoes in the Pro Style and couldn't be happier - they are much more comfortable than the standard style. RACISM AT THE VANS STORE Yesterday (11 of april 2011) i went to the Vans store located at the 5 points plaza in HUNTINGTON BEACH and right when the blond seller saw me speaking portuguese (I am from Brazil) she changed completely. I asked her a bigger size of a tennis shoe and she said "ok, I'll get it". AND DIDN'T. She kept talking to her bitch girlfriend and went to another customer . AFTER 10 minutes standing next to her and waiting for the shoe, I asked again and she became a smart ass and asked me "Oooohh, so are going to get anything?" I say "YES, I am still waiting for the shoe." After another few minutes, she IGNORED ME AGAIN and didn't go get it. All she did was playing a smart ass to impress her co-worker friends and had the courage to ask me in a fast way, with the intention of me to do not understand and play the silly, If I would buy anything from the store. I said "excuse me?" and she replied "Nothing", and left with a stupid smile on her face. I say YES and when I finally called my husband to complain about the embarracement I was putting through, she finally got me the God Dammit shoe. There was 2 ladies working there. The blond treated me with a difference thinking i was not going to buy anything, probably because I was a foreigner. The brunnete was telling a mexican boy that probably works on the store for cleaning " I am going to make you scrub the toilet with your tooth brush". I am sure she was "joking", but I don't think this is an appropriated joke to make in front of the clients, this is public humiliation and If I was him, I would do something about it. Why did I take my Daughter during Spring Break? The store was packed!! There were people and shoe boxes everywhere. Despite that, the employees had smiles on their faces, worked well together to get the shoes out, keep customers happy, and the register ringing. I was told about the clearance sales, while waiting for my shoes to be brought out from the back. Good idea, it distracted and entertained me. In a store packed with people, I was treated like a special customer. Kudos to the staff. Why the 4 star review? Went to Vans to pick up some shoes for my nephew who was in my wedding, called to verify that they had the shoes before I drove down there and the lady on the phone said they did. When I got to Vans there were 3 sales people working... no one offered to help for the first couple min. so I asked about the pair on hold, etc & they were the wrong shoes.. no biggie- I got him a diff pair.... I then was looking for myself and found the perfect pair of vans to wear during my ceremony of my wedding.. purple sequence. When I finally got the girls attention she brought me a pair, tried one on and purchased the two pairs. Samantha was the girl that ended up helping me. On my wedding day... the shoes for my nephew didnt fit so no bueno there but not anyones fault at Vans... My shoes on the otherhand just about ruined my day... they gave me two RIGHT FEET and to top it off they were different sizes! So two of my friends (bless there hearts) missed my wedding ceremony and went to a diff vans store to pick me up the shoes that were the same size and a right and left. When I went back into vans in HB last week to return the shoes that we were unable to wear, the cashier didnt apologize.. just said "if it makes you feel better she doesnt work here anymore"...
