My experience here was great! I walked in without an appointment on a Saturday morning (about 45 minutes after they opened) and was seated right away. I told my nail technician what I wanted and she complied without trying to upsell. I got the signature pedicure which was amazing and the shellac manicure. I'm usually very ticklish when it comes to my feet but my tech took her time to the point where I got used to her touch and could actually relax and enjoy myself. It has been four years since my last pedicure of any kind (October '21). Then, two years ago I dropped a 70lb steel object on the big toe of my right foot which probably broke it (September '23). My big toe was swollen and dark purple for some months before the toenail became detached in my shower (March '24). When the nail grew back it went sideways as a result of my now misshapen toe, slicing into the side of my toe to create a separate peninsula of skin. Naturally, the blood and then the pus would flow out and for a time I had to frequently apply a tincture of antiseptic to manage the developing infection but once that subsided my foot fell into a resting state of low-medium but manageable pain. The purple of my toe had subsided to a tender red, and the nail took on a yellowish sheen from the pus. For some months I hadn't sought treatment or even clipped the nails as I had feared the resulting pain which usually followed might disrupt my participation in local footraces. I thus concluded that my right foot would serve as the perfect control group to assess the level of care that could be provided by Van's Nail Salon. I immediately got on a plane to San Antonio and entered the salon at about 11:30am local time on December 11th. The staff greeted me and offered me a complimentary drink for which the options were many but I chose the Long Island Iced Tea (wow!). The staff was nonjudegmental of my foot and even took the care to be gentler with the Pedegg due to my sensitive feet, while still not cutting a corner or sacrificing any measure in the harvest of dead skin deposits. I went with a clear coat finish bolstered by the cucumber aroma and could not be happier with the relief in my toes. The technician was very observant and even spotted an abscess on my toe which had previously gone undiscovered. Overall I could not be happier with the level of care I received for what I paid for, which was somehow cheaper than my last pedicure four years ago. read more

To start off I got there at 12 pm thinking ok this won't take too long, I was soaking for about an hour before anyone came to do anything. When the guy finally gets to me he asks me if he could file my nails instead of cut I told him if he feels that's better than ok. I wanted to do a gel color but aside from the basic pedicure priced at 32.00 they added 18.00 on top of the pedicure price for gel. I opted for a regular nail color instead. By this time he finally finished everything and it was paint time it was 1:38, I asked him if it would take long and he said yes so I just told him I had to leave because my child care was only for 2 hours. I get home with no color whatsoever whatever fine, but this mad didn't even take my hang nails off or anything l was so upset with the worked I shouldn't have even tipped. I decided to try this place out and I was a little disappointed. My pedicure was amazing and they did a great job, but my acrylic set wasn't good. I think my nail tech was still learning or maybe he wasn't feeling well that day, but they were really lumpy and the shape was inconsistent. I was a repeat customer for a couple of years. Recently, I noticed the quality of work was declining. They seem to rotate nail techs and it was hard to establish a rapport with an individual. My last appointment was the worst. The nail tech couldn't get my nails even or shaped. He kept filing each nail too much and I wound up with very short misshapen nails. Additionally, he started applying the wrong shade of polish and insisting it was the same color as the polish on my toes. He didn't want to fix it and kept blaming the polish manufacturer. My first time here started off good. They sat me down and wrapped my nails as soon as I arrived. The problem was that there wasn't anyone available to do my nails for a long period. I waited about 25-30 minutes before anyone came over to start my nail dip. It would have been nice to know ahead of time that I should expect to wait that long. It was kind of deceiving thinking they were taking me in right away. I know it takes time to get your nails dipped, but I was there for 1.5 hours from start to end. Now, I did give them a four star because aside from the time it took, they did a good job. The lady assisting me was super nice. I have only had my dip polish for two days, but so far so good. The place looks clean. I'm not sure about other prices, but for dip, it was $45. I'm used to paying $40, but I know some nail salons are going up in price. I live 30 min away from this salon, but keep going back to it. They are very kind, they seat you in a timely manor and they have lots to select from. When I get a full set it will last me 2 mo the with out any chips or breaks. They are fast at filling and making sure that you leave with the design, color and shape that you are happy with. They also are super kid friendly. When I go get my set I bro k my 3 and 4 year old daughters with me to get their nails painted. They use gel on their nails and the girls love it! I chose this salon specifically for their COVID safety measures - they had check in with temperature checks at the door, masks required, plexiglass set up and distancing enforced, and hand washing. Wow this place doesn't even deserve one star! I saw them using a sponge to clean the pedicure basins after my pedicure. They are too preoccupied with other customers coming in that my pedicure turned out terrible! My clipped my nails too short and now I'm in pain. I was then constantly reminding them to fix the nail polish on my skin, and I didn't get a top coat. When I told them about the top coat they argued and said they had already put it on. The worst. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi and they did not start my pedicure for over 40 minutes. I had to cancel my manicure because of time it was taking. At the end, I pulled the owner/manage aside (he is the one who gave me my appointment time) and confronted him about the wait. He proceeded to say I was being unreasonable for expecting to get my pedicure started within 15 minutes of my appointment time. I explained I was extremely disappointed and felt he had been dishonest when I called ahead asking for a time that I could come in for an appointment.
