I stopped here twice recently. The first time I was told that the lady at the counter was very busy and I would have to come back another time. The second time I arrived, I was told that they only do certain jobs on cars at certain times of the year! If you can believe this! I suggested that no matter what a mechanic was doing, they were being paid by the hour, and she said it was the owners decision that they can only do certain types of work certain times of the year Coming from a family of mechanics, you could've knocked me over with a feather. So we were driving on Rte 14 when the low tire sensor popped up. It was at 23 pounds while we were stopped at a red light. I needed to find a tire shop fast because by the time the light turned green it had dropped to 18 pounds. This was no slow leak! I saw Van's on the right hand side and pulled in. The lady at the front desk said that they were busy and that it would be about an hour. No big deal, it's a warm sunny day. I returned for another Oil Change, I could not do it myself because they tightened the oil plug bolt on so tight, it broke my Craftsman Socket. I already put the oil filter in & bought a new bolt because my wrenches kept slipping off. I aske them to change the oil & not the filter, subtract that from the charge. I got "attitude". then She said I needed Synthetic, I stated No that is not what the owners manual & online states. She said here "system" is right & I am wrong. I get the Invoice @ $74.85, for oil not requested, online spec's: 5.9 quarts of SAE 5W-20 Motor Oil, including she did not take off the filter charge. Gave me attitude on the way out. Poor customer service. Only reason why I went back is because I thought they would cut me a deal for cranking that bolt on, I not charging me for another new filter. They LOST my business after 5 years. No Number to who to complain to since she is the one to complain to. First time some one RIPPED me off since I was a Teenager 40 years ago. We were RV camping nearby and heading out to Cuyahoga Valley National Park when our neighbor told us our drivers side rear tire was flat. Repair shops were closed since it was Sunday and fortunately it was a slow leak so we could still go sightseeing. On Monday morning, we were at Vans Tires when it opened. Our hope was that the tire could be repaired again, as it had been in New Jersey several weeks prior, because we had tickets for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that morning. After close inspection, the manager, Karen (a really nice Karen), told us they did not do repairs as what was done for us in New Jersey. Also, the puncture was too close to the sidewall. Long story short, she had her team install my spare, sent us on our way so we could make the Hall of Fame, and told us to return the next morning. The following morning, they had the spare reinstalled and four new tires of the same type I had before and had us on our way to our next sightseeing stop, the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library. We did not miss a beat on our trip and the price for everything was fair...maybe even a bit generous. I'm a fan! read more

I didn't pay for service here. Let me just state that up front. However, we needed e-checks done on our car and truck, and I didn't feel like driving to Ravenna. Van's did them both, a month apart, no complaints, no hard sell, no hard time at all. Just said as soon as a guy was free (they were busy both times), they'd get to it. Great tire and auto shop that was a life-saver for us. We were on vacation and our rear breaks went bad late friday night. I called them Saturday morning and Lowell answered the phone and was very friendly and helpful. He said to bring in the car right away because they close early on Saturdays. A few hours later we had new breaks and we were back on our trip. The waiting area is small but satisfactory for our needs. It might be very chilly in the winter though. They have coffee and tea available and we had a nice place to wait while they worked on our car. Fair pricing. The break repair came in about where I expected it to. Thanks Van's. read more

my husband and I took our 2000 Nissan pathfinder here to get fixed to pass e check. our car was there for 2 months, finally they call and say it's ready. we pick it up and the check engine light is still on after paying them $3,800. so we take it back, they have it for a little over a week and then call and say there is a misfire code coming up but everything looks great and it drives great so they don't know what else to do. so we go pick it up, pay another $400 and my husband says it drives worse then it did before if anything. I'm not sure what the issue is but to me it seems like these guys don't know how to fix cars. we are extremely understanding people but I just cannot believe we paid these people $4,200 and our car still has a check engine light on and doesn't run great. I get it's an old car but if its out of your skill range, say that before wasting my time and money. definitely would not go here. read more

The first time we went to Van's we thought they were amazing, good price and nice guys. However, the next time we went in for a strange noise and they told us we needed new struts, joints, etc. to the point of $700 dollars or so. We went for a second opinion and it turned out our tire was losing the tread. Thank God we got a second opinion otherwise our tire could have blown on the highway. We gave them another chance when our front tire kept going flat. Their diagnosis rim leak and sealant around the rim. Tire was flat next morning. Went back, valve stem leak, which they said it wasn't the day before. Next morning, flat tire. We are done. We can't keep doing this and not getting anywhere. read more

We lucked out finding Van's when our check tire light came on while traveling through town. They identified a small crack in the rim and showed it to me with a leak check solution. They went out of their way to order a new one overnight and had it repaired the following morning. We couldn't have asked for a more professional and pleasant experience. read more

I dropped my car off at Van's after receiving a recommendation about how it's a family run business, etc. I told them that my car recently began sounding like a bus with the exhaust and what not and asked to please have my rear breaks checked. I quickly received a return call with a quote. The breaks and rotors were a bit over-priced and was told, upon trying to negotiate, that they could knock off $10. When I told them that was not enough and I'd rather have a friend do it, the manager became very sharp on the phone. I picked up my car, having the repair for the exhaust done, and noticed the "service engine" light was still on and the car made the exact same sound. I called and mentioned this and was told, "you did not talk to us about the service engine light" and "he fixed the sound he saw." Wow! I thought they may be in business to make money but apparently you have to tell them what to fix versus them evaluating the problem on their own. read more

Pretty sneaky taking off all of the bad reviews. I wrote a bad review and needless to say, it's not listed here. That's because Van's Tire did a very very poor job on our car. They charged us $332.00 to not fix the problem. We were told we had to just start the car 100 times to make the notice go away on our car. The notice never went away and they just shrugged their shoulders and said, "that's weird". Once we paid another $250 and a reputable service place, we found out Van's put in a bad part which they should have seen was bad since it was clearly present. But Van's only wanted money for work not done. So it cost us twice to do the work Van's should have done in the first place. So how long before Van's takes this review off of their web site?? Don't want people to know the truth about the real work you do? How many other bad reviews have you taken off your site? I guess I need to put my review on more websites than just yours to make sure people actually get the message. read more
