My alternator began having trouble just before this exit Friday night. I got a room for the night at the Quality Inn and popped over to Midas the next morning, Veterans Day, so I thought it was my only option. They quoted $983.03 for the alternator and serpentine belt, claimed it was about to catch on fire, and insisted that I couldn't drive it more than three miles safely and would need to purchase their financing to pay for this. They said the parts would be $619.98, which I knew wasn't true so before opting for a tow, I drove to the Napa down the street. Napa sold me a new alternator and belt for $390.53 and said they trusted another shop in town that was open, behind the Walmart. That shop, Tire Source, charged $109.46 rather than the $247 quoted by Midas. We took the alternator core back to Napa for a $77 refund and a box of donuts as a thank you. Midas quoted $983.03 but the repair total ended up being $422.99. As a side note, it took me five minutes to eyeball the situation at 10pm on the side of your interstate but around five dudes and an hour to play around with it at Midas. I'm accustomed to my mechanic behaving like he knows what he's doing and not making wild claims, but maybe I'm picky. Attached are four photos. The quote from Midas and a photo of my text authorization from them with slightly different part costs listed (did they record a quote different from what they told me?) The receipt for parts and the refund for core return from Napa. The labor receipt from Tire Source. I've redacted identifying information but left my car details for anyone curious. Descriptions included with photos.

Why respond to this post if you genuinely don't care about your customers? To make it worse? I'll update if they do respond. We drove up from Florida to visit family - as we do several times a year - and realized it was time for an oil change. We chose this location based on ratings and proximity to where our family reside. Huge mistake! While we were in line, we noticed a pregnant female extremely upset because the tech caused "$7,000 in damage to her car" and the store refused to make it right. They were telling her to leave the store because she was causing a scene - that should have been the red flag we needed. But it wasn't my business and I don't know the entire story. We paid for full syn oil change + tire rotation, and asked them to air up the tires in our brand new 2024 Subaru to which they agreed. I noticed while they were rotating the tires in our AWD vehicle that they did not do so in diagonal pattern as is the correct way. I pointed it out and the lead guy on site. Manager? Said "that's how we always do it." So instead of apologizing, or better yet, knowing how to properly perform a service they charge $30 for, he profers a lame excuse. They did agree to correct their mistake. How many unsuspecting vehicle owners have they done this to if it's how they always do it? This can lead to blowouts and unexpected accidents in the future!! So I get in the car because "it's all done," and I asked if they filled the tires with air as we had one that was very low. He tells me yes and that the fluids were topped off, tires were rotated and oil was changed. I turned the car on and the tire sensor was still on indicating it wasn't done. He says "they must have forgotten." So they finally air up the tires, I pay $112 and head on my way. I get home and pop the hood and notice they didn't top off ANY of the fluids, not only that but all of my after market metal valve stem covers were missing. We had to buy new fluids to top them off and just purchased new stem covers on Amazon. Highly disappointed in unprofessionalism, dishonesty and severe lack of customer service. I'd love to speak to the owner should they be interested in reaching out for more info.

I took my truck to streetsboro ntb for an allignment and rotation. I was told to come on Saturday…read moreso the best allignment tech would be there to do the job. I arrived an hour early because I was working close and asked if they could fit it in or if it would be better to come back at my scheduled time. With some hesitation the manager told me they could fit it in. As I walk to sit down I hear her ask a tech if he wanted to do my allignment. He replied "sure, if you show me how to use the computer." I'm guessing he wasn't the aforementioned alignment tech. I was approached shortly after by the manager to tell me that they just realized I was there for a rotation as well. She told me that it would be real quick. A short time later I was approached again asking me to come out to the shop area. I followed and the tech that was doing the rotation could not figure out how to use the special socket to take the special shaped lugnut off of the front driver wheel. He told me that it was the wrong socket. I assured them it was the only one I had for them. The manager, being aggravated, told him to put the other tire back on and told me to bring the truck back Monday and they would do the rotation for no charge. It took the tech 15 minutes to reassemble my vehicle. I went in to pay and was charged $133 to have the first guy train how to do an allignment when I was expecting a tech that was experienced. I was pushed out the door so quickly that I never received the allignment printout showing the work performed. So not really impressed with the service I received. I took the truck home and did the rotation myself. And FYI the special socket worked just fine to take the special lugnuts off. The outside of the nut looks like a gingerbread man so the socket only fits on one way. I will not be returning to streetsboro NTB.
