I requested a tow after my vehicle broke down leaving my subdivision. Since I previously had a great experience with a driver, I passed on two other companies to call for their services in particular. However, after providing a very specific location at an intersection in my subdivision ( I pushed my car off the main road to a specific corner, five blocks from my house), I was repeatedly asked about the specific address of pickup for billing purposes. I couldn't provide an exact addres, but I volunteered an estimated address, since I knew I was on a similar east-west coordinate, and my own address was provided as well. The dispatch hung up on me, after insisting that the address was necessary for billing, and I said that I didn't care about the cost, I pretty much knew the cost in advance, and that an additional block for a 5 block tow would not significantly change the cos, I just wanted an 'F ing tow. exasperated, as I was. I called back to complain 15 minutes later, discussing the unacceptable situation with a person who claimed that they were not the same person I had talked to 15 minutes earlier. I wanted it to be known that people who are calling for tows are not in good situation and frames of mind, and I had already moved on to a different company for my tow, but I would definitely have a conversation with someone in charg. My totaled car ended up here after an accident. My insurance company tried to get my car for 2 weeks before letting me know that Vans was uncooperative. I had to go down in person to straighten it out. Now I'm still waiting for my money from the insurance company and I don't have anymore rental car time left so I have to pay out of pocket for a rental car. No one called me to tell me there was any issue. I would have gone there immediately if I knew it was necessary. This has been a very stressful experience made worse by this tow yard. read more

If your car is here, there's a very good chance you did not have a good day. In my case, my daughter's driving career - which started with three accident free days - got off to a smashing start with her crashing her car into a post. Fortunately, she and the car aren't too bad off. I was fully expecting that the workers here would be uncaring at best, but I was pleasantly surprised. The lady I spoke to had an easy smile that put me at ease. The guy that brought me out to look at the car was also very nice. It's difficult to underestimate how important this in a situation like this. When I decided to have the car moved, they were very fast and getting it hooked up and on the way. The prices aren't cheap, but you are paying for quality here. I don't have AAA towing service, so I will definitely consider calling this place again if I do need to have something towed, hopefully under better circumstances. read more

The lady who is a receptionist has a horrendously bad attitude. I cannot even express in words how badly she treats people. There is no reason whatsoever to be that rude to people who have done nothing to you. They have insanely unreasonable stipulations for getting your car out of the tow yard that allows them to keep it longer and charge more money (and don't forget "cash only"). I specifically asked Roseville PD not to tow my car after a car accident (that was not my fault) because this company is corrupt. RPD will also try to make any excuse for this company to tow your car because they clearly are in kahoots with each other. read more

If I call my insurance for tow assistance, it takes 4 to 6 hours to send somebody. I still end up paying $100. Every single time now I call Van's. They get there within the hour. Today. Less than 20 minutes we had assistance. Thank you. I never mind spending money on good service. read more

Understand procedures but when the customer has asked the car to be towed to the dealership and NOT your towing yard because it is my right and I'm flat out lied to that the dealership is closed is not an excuse. I had my insurance company fax a copy of my insurance to them and they charged me $1 per page. The insurance card was in their tow yard in my car. They didn't even have the decency to check my car! Car was impounded on 4/14 (I was not driving and unaware of where it had been towed to). Received a letter from the state of Michigan telling me it was at Van's. By the time I called about the car, impound fees were $500+ dollars. It's a savage title car and not even worth the money to get out of impound. Just wanted to recover my things from the vehicle. Receptionist, Jennifer, proceeded to tell me I had to pay the impound fees to retrieve my belongings. I used to work dispatch for a tow company about a 1/2 mile from this place, I assure you that it is not Michigan law to make customers pay the impound fees to get personal items from their vehicle, when I told her this, she hung up on me. I called right back, and asked for the manager, Liz, I believe her name was. She was polite and courteous & told me what I knew to be true about getting my property, come in and show license & registration. The first time I went in around a week ago, I asked them to get the registration out of the car so I could show "proof" that it's mine. They couldn't find it, of course. I had to go to SOS to get a duplicate copy of it. The receptionist today, a different woman than the one I spoke to on the phone & saw last time I came in, was also nice & polite. The young man who walked me out to my car was also very pleasant. Then there was Bob. A driver, I assume, who proceeded to rush me through getting my things out of the car. Told me I obviously didn't respect other people's things, because when I opened the door it was scratching the car next to it (it wasn't, I promise Bob). The cars were parked, extremely close to each other & there was very little room to even open the door and get my stuff. There were also things missing from the vehicle that I know I left in there. Oh and I found the registration that they couldn't find last time......funny how that works. Overall, this company has quite a few rude & unprofessional employees. I've read several other reviews about this company that said they were told they had to pay impound fees to retrieve their belongings too. Definitely illegal and definitely will be reporting your business for these practices. If I could give them no stars, I would. Working in the business, it's natural for other tow companies to not do business with their competitors. Cheryl, Jen, and Liz were the biggest wenches I've ever had to deal with in my entire life. In trying to get a vehicle released from their lot, long story short, they wouldn't let anyone other than their own tow drivers take a vehicle out because they're greedy as hell. This deserves zero stars. The woman are extremely rude, condescending and do not communicate their fees and policy's to people. "We can't tell you everything we can't predict wjat your going to do" I went there on Monday was not allowed in my car to get my wallet. After much persistence they allowed me with a driver. I had to come back was on a time restraint. I called 2 more times they told me the fees until Wednesday. Never mentioned that it goes up $40 on Thursday. When I got there Thursday the woman counted on her fingers how Thursday to Thursday was 8 days. 100% rude and snotty. Insulted me on many levels. Took advantage of people who live in their city. If I ever need a tow for any reason I will go with private people that I know next time. When I called for a person above her to speak with she said there was nobody. I will find the next chain of command and find out why the service is so unprofessional and lacks pertinent and valuable information. A different company came to my car first (called by my insurance company) After the other company caused more damage to my car, I wanted a different company to come out. The first truck from Vans came very quickly. Realizing he needed some more equipment, a second truck came shortly after. Both men were very professional and did the job great. They were very friendly, they used the proper equipment and everything went smooth. I wish these guys were the first company to come! Definitely recommend this company. Worse "Service" ever!! Very rude office staff. I called them for a tow, told them I wanted to use my road service but could not reach AAA (due to the floods) and for 3 days I spoke with their office staff telling them I was still trying to reach AAA and not to tow my car- they said fine, keep them updated- added helpful suggestions to get through to AAA. Turns out THEY towed my car within 2 hours of my first call and didn't tell me. When I discovered it, they said they are "not responsible for what they tell me on the phone", and they had no idea they towed my car and had it for 3 days! When I discovered this after 3 days I went to them at 6:30 pm, they refused to release my car as it was after business hours. I came back the next morning and was charged another day of storage! I had to pay $237.00 for towing and storage. And they had the nerve to tell me I "was difficult". I have never had such horrible experience with any company!! stay away!!! read more
