I got the eggs Benedict with spam and hash browns and my girlfriend got the special vegetarian omelette with hash browns and toast. Both meals had big portions and lasted us for two meals. The eggs Benedict with spam was delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly and it was hands down the best Hollandaise sauce I have ever had. Honestly I didn't, but came across a few post from my reliable Yelp buddies - (Vince N., Bruddah Ric C., & Ariana M.). Their posts on Yelp led me here for a quick morning bite....... My original plan was to come here and have some blueberry pancakes with coffee.......but when I entered the joint & saw other customers eating omelettes with hash browns, my plans changed. Upon getting seated, I had to wait awhile to get a menu, then it took even more time for the lady to come back and take my order. Granted, they were a bit busy in the morning, and there was only one lady running everything upfront, I guess that's understandable. Upon looking over the menu, I decided to get the Veggie Omelette. With my omelette, the meal came with Hash Browns, and Toast (wheat or white bread). To wash all of this down, I got myself a cup of coffee. What can I saw about my morning grub? It was a delicious hearty breakfast! Generous portions, my veggie omelette was topped with cheddar cheese, and it was loaded with green bell peppers, mushrooms, white onions, and tomatoes. To top off the meal, it was garnished with a banana slice, and orange wedge. The hash browns was nicely done, as the outside was crispy, and the inside of the hash browns was soft. Toast was offered with the meal, so I got the wheat toast, and it came with some butter and grape jam. The weakest part of my meal was the coffee.....sorry to say, the coffee was just terrible! Not sure what type of brew they use, but may I suggest NOT to use any instant coffee! Lol! Service - When I received my meal this morning, they didn't even give me any eating utensils so I had to tell the cook who brought out my meal to provide me with some eating utensils so I could eat. Friendly service here........but a bit slow. If you're in a rush, you're better off going to a McDonald's! Buwahahahaha! But if you have time, and are not in a rush, this is a Great Breakfast Joint! Just an FYI, Vanta Cafe is a really small Cafe, with about (5) small tables, and (1) bar like table inside of the cafe. If it gets busy here, you may have to wait to get a table. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and my husband ordered a veggie omelette since there was no ham left. My sandwich came out at least five minutes before my husbands omelette which was kind of weird because I was hungry but also didn't want to eat without him. I started so my food didn't get cold. His omelette veggies were not sauteed prior so they were a lot more crunchy, and the egg that wrapped around the veggies was very thin. More veggy than egg. When you look at the menu some items on a laminated sheet of paper and some items on the walls. My beautiful wife went with the Kim chi fried rice with 3 over easy eggs on top. Me and my beautiful wife agreed to split or meals to share, I snuck a couple early bites and man o man THAT was some good stuff, the kimchee was very flavorful but not overpowering the rice was fluffy and amazing. Eggs are eggs but they were cooked perfectly. I had the eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon for those who dont know the difference between Canadian Bacon and ham it is the part of the pig it comes from ( yes I googled it). But I digress, ham, sausage, and even spam are options for the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was good and plenty. (Loved it) I had hashbrowns with the meal and it was well cooked perfectly the right crunch on the outside the flavor and softness on the inside yum yum. Remember I said "we agreed" to share, that women of mine loved her meal so much she changed the deal to :you eat your and I eat mine" . It was that good , BUT SO WAS MINE so all was well in the world. I don't usually speak on the coffee but dang it was delicious, smallest amount of aftertaste that every coffee has, but the less the aftertaste the better the coffee and this coffee had very little and therefore very awesome. On the way back to the Kahului airport on an holiday Monday morning in January 2020, my friends and I drove from Lahaina in search of breakfast. Thanks always to Yelp for telling us what was open at 700am on a Monday morning. My friends and I settled on a cozy and quaint little cafe called Vanta Cafe, which is nestled in Wailuku. It's one of the few places you miss if you are not actively looking for it. With my stomach grumbling, we came here around 7:15am and the parking here is limited. They are in a small commercial cul-de-sac, with maybe 20 parking stalls. The restaurant itself is quite small, boasting only 5 tables, but my friends and I lucked out and we got a table immediately. We spent about an hour here, although the time waiting for the food to arrive was probably 20 minutes. It's not fast food here, but good ol fashioned home spun meals that made me thankful that I have yelp at my disposal to find these type of places while on vacation or just on the go. I feel like this restaurant is like a small house that's converted to one. You don't see this too much nowadays. I agree with the star rating and can say that this is a hidden gem for anyone that loves breakfast. Only thing about this place is that the prices here can be a little bit of a shocker. Especially the one that's like $15, which I ended up getting. I eventually picked up the tab for my friends, since they're driving me towards the airport and I didn't need to pay for an uber. It was the nice thing to do really. The time spent here was really enjoyable and got to hang out with friends and talk story before we went our separate ways. The overall experience here at Vanta Cafe in the heart of Wailuku, Maui was nice and very good. As eluded to above, it was like having breakfast at a friend's house. The ambiance was like that. It was casual and quiet, although we were the only ones talking loudly at the time. There was a couple of tables that were occupied besides ours. I did enjoy the service here, although it was slower than usual during our stay here, it was a good time just to sit back and relax. The Vanta Cafe is located at 291 Hookahi Street in Wailuku, Maui. Kind of tucked away, if you're not looking carefully. They accept major credit cards, but they do have a minimum spend amount before you can charge. As mentioned before, there is parking here if you drive yourself, but it is limited. Best bet would be to get here before the crowds. Not sure if the Maui public bus service comes through here, but you'll be better off if you had a rental car or your own. If not, take an uber or lyft and come and sample Vanta Cafe's signature pancakes and other breakfast dishes. I think they're only good for breakfast, although I could be wrong. Might need to see a lunch menu sometime. For the most part though, my experience here at Vanta Cafe here in Wailuku was a favorable one. The ambiance was a delight and the lady who served us was nice and friendly. I ordered #13 in the pancake section. I chose blueberry pancakes with bacon, sausage, and eggs. It was a filling meal that was worth the price. It was definitely delicious and hot the spot after a weekend of 13.1 miles on foot on both Saturday and Sunday - on different islands. While prices can be a little high, you do get awesome service and it helps having friends here to share the experience. Do yourself a favor and come here after you arrive on Maui or before you depart for home. I adore the pancakes and it was one of the best I've had in a while. I would recommend coming here to Vanta Cafe for breakfast or lunch, but they close at 2pm daily. However! They open from 6am, which is awesome for early birds who travel to and from Maui and need food that's not from the airport. Come here early and come often. One of the best on Maui, I guarantee it. 4.5 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the food and service. 4.0 stars for the ambiance, but 3.5 stars for the prices. It is what it is. If you've got a larger party this may not necessarily be the place for you. Table size is around 2-4 at max. If you're looking for a far more comfortable experience this place would be great for couples. Also the owners are very aware of this and do their absolute best to make seating arrangements for their guests. They will re-arrange tables if possible and if not they do ask parties if what they have available is comfortable for them prior to seating. I had really high hopes when I saw the reviews, but the breakfast was pretty meh as a whole. For what it's worth, the hubs liked his food a lot better than I did, so maybe it just depends on what you order. When I looked at the pictures of the menu online, I saw that Vanta had chai tea, one of my favorites. However, the current menus have this item removed using correction tape. I decided to go with a green tea instead. The water for the tea was boiling hot, to the point where I couldn't even drink it until after we had received our food and were pretty much finished with the meal. I also didn't get a plate or bowl to remove the teabag when it was down steeping, so it ended up over-brewing pretty quickly with the water's temperature and made the tea bitter. I could overlook the tea situation if the food was better, but the French toast was made with really thin bread and the top was super eggy. On most of the pieces, it was like I was eating an omelette instead of bread. I did like that they added cinnamon, though. The service was pretty prompt and friendly, even when the whole cafe filled up. You can use a credit card if you spend more than $8. As a whole, I would pick another place for breakfast, but I'm glad the hubs liked his breakfast sandwich. read more

The food is what keeps this review so high. So delicious. Every bite! Inside isn't very spacious yet it's cute. Very homey feeling. If it's not busy, dining in can be nice. If it's busy... Tables are near each other. There's no waiting area for seating. I always prefer to order take out and then enjoy the deliciousness at home. My wife had the pancake, egg and bacon breakfast, and I had the egg benny. Food was delicious and portions were on the bigger side. They do fresh smoothies too (can't vouch for those though). It seemed to be run by a husband/wife duo that were very accommodating as we had our 9 month old daughter with us.
