This place is so awesome! it has a feel good vibe to it. very homey and comfortable. it's a small little restaurant that even has a map on the wall where you can pin where you're from! the two workers there were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was very filling! i got it with hash browns. we also got a big breakfast with pancakes that were amazingly good! and an iced coffee to top it off. Prices here weren't too bad. it's fairly cheap for what you get, so expect to get nice and full! Very cute, mom and pop hole in the wall. Was excited to try their kimchi fried rice, and it did not disappoint! The french toast was awesome too. Had an iced coffee which was great. At the end of the meal, the husband came out and offered little foam flowers to all the women in the restaurant, and even gave a little boy a toy car. This may not seem like much but this little place was one of the highlights of our trip to Maui. We were looking for a place for breakfast before we caught our flight at the airport and I found this little place. When we pulled up we almost backed out but luckily we decided to go in. Let me tell you this place had the best breakfast in Maui as far as I can tell. I've had eggs Benedict all over the world but this stood out as some of the best I've ever had in my life. This little place isn't much to look at it's kind of sketchy but trust me you need to go there and enjoy the best breakfast you'll ever have. We came and had breakfast here twice while we were on vacation! A huge reason for coming back was the people who work here, they are so incredibly kind and attentive! This was where we ate our first meal after landing and getting some sleep and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and service. Be aware that there is one person working the front and one cook in the back, so your food might take longer than usual to be served. Both times we came here the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. It did get a little busy both days but the employees managed to get everyone's orders out in a timely manner. If you're in a hurry I don't recommend coming here. We will definitely be back here when we visit Maui again! read more

If you didn't already know, my second favorite kind of food (first being dessert of course) is breakfast! So, of course I had to check out at least one brunch place on Maui! First off, I'm not sure if this place changed their name or if the Yelp name is incorrect but the sign out front says "Vanta Coffee Hub." Either way, they're the same place! :) When finding breakfast places, the bf and I stumbled on this place with 5 stars! We looked at the pictures and the prices and thought we HAD to check this place out! The prices were so reasonable and the portions looked pretty big! We arrived around 10 am on a Saturday morning and were hoping it wouldn't be like brunch places on Oahu where the wait can be over an hour! To our delight, there was no line and we were seated right away! This place is located in the industrial park area and is EXTREMELY small. I'd say only 15 people max could be eating there at once time. Once we saw the menu, we were a little disappointed that we didn't see any french toast, eggs benedicts, or omelettes dishes on the menu. Darn! My bf LOVES french toast and I love omelettes. But we soon found out that this place is run by one hard working, sweet older man. He was the waiter, cook, cashier, and busser! We then understood why the menu was significantly downsized even if the menus we saw on Yelp were fairly recent. The bf decided to order a Classic Mocha and the Kimchi Fried rice with a side of bacon. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. Everything was delicious! The bf loved his Kimchi fried rice that he got with over easy eggs. The side of bacon was done extra crispy which he liked! My sandwich was toasty and buttery with melted cheese, scrambled eggs, and crisp bacon. Mmmm... so good! For me, the clear winner was the Classic Mocha! Omg.. it was so chocolatey! I'm not a coffee drinker so having no bitter after taste at all was perfect for me! The bf on the other hand, who is a coffee drinker thought it was overly sweet. But like I always say, it's all based on your preferences and taste buds! Overall, a great little hub owned by a hard working man. Got there a little after 6am. We were greeted at the door by the two loveliest people ever (2 men, whom I believe to be the owners). The place is small but quaint and comfortable. We ordered the Fried Rice Omelette and some drinks, came out to $21. Good price for the portions you get. Everything was cooked to perfection and the fried rice was amazing. Our boys day out adventure started with brunch. I swayed my friends away from a buffet which I'm not fond of, and figured it was the perfect time to try this place that has a 5-star average rating with over 100 reviews. I tried to pick up lunch from here a few months ago but my lunch time was not jiving with their lunch schedule. ATMOSPHERE: They're located in a dinky strip mall, the Hookahi Business Center, in the Wailuku Industrial Park. The inside is clean and inviting but small, with seating for only 14 people max. We came in around 11am on a Sunday and luckily grabbed the sole 4-top table. Tables were constantly occupied. MENU: Coffees, breakfast selections, ramen. They usually have local plate lunches but for some reason were "not offering them" during the month of February 2017 according to the owner/server/buser/cashier man. He even turned away a take out order over the phone while we were there, so you know what the palate is around these parts. Because I feel I can easily make breakfast at home, and they were out of their local plate lunches, I took a chance on their "ramen". I'm not sure whether to laugh from disbelief or be mad with insult from what I received. You be the judge. FOOD: Ramen Noodle Soup - $6.95. I thought the price was abnormally cheap for ramen, with most places charging $8+ for a bowl. What the heck, take a chance. It took a good maybe 10 minutes for it to come out, so I had high hopes of a homemade dashi, chewy noodles, and delectable toppings, especially being that the chef/owner is a Japanese national. What came to the table floored me. I thought to myself, no way, it can't be. Sure enough, as soon as I took my first bite of noodles and dashi, I was shocked. It was instant saimin, straight out of the package!? Sapporo Ichiban-brand in the shrimp flavor to be exact. I know because I eat this at home! To add insult to injury, the noodles were overcooked. He did doctor-up the dish with scrambled egg slices, white onions, and a few slices of fresh mushrooms, but come on... In reality, this dish was marked up 880% if you do the math. SERVICE: The man running the front of the house was friendly in a sushi bar sort of way. You get the greeting and thank you, but nothing in the middle. TIP: They're open for breakfast & lunch only, with lunch served at 11am. OVERALL: When and if they ever bring back the local plates is when I'll return. Cute little hole in the wall restaurant, great for grabbing breakfast. The place only sits about 14 people inside, and that's with a tight squeeze. The guy taking orders and serving everyone was the owner I assume and he did a great job with making sure everyone felt welcome and had everything they needed. Located in the Wailuku Industrial area, Vanta Cafe is a small cafe that has yummy lattes and breakfast items. The parking lot is small, but we scored parking right in front of the restaurant at 9:15am on a Friday. The waitress is a super nice Korean lady, but be patient. She's the only one working the front! I believe there is only one cook in the back. My fiancé got the Kim Chee fried rice with two eggs scrambled and a banana smoothie . I got the Spam Benedict with hash browns and a Sweet Bee latte (honey and vanilla). We shared the regular pancakes, which came with a slice of strawberry papaya. Everything was tasty! I really enjoyed my food and we enjoyed the fluffy pancakes. My fiancé was okay with his Kim Chee fried rice, but he probably wouldn't get it again. Overall, food was simple homemade and delicious! This place was a great choice. We were heading to the airport the morning before our flight. I yelped a few places on the way, and this popped up. The main reason why this was my first choice is because my boyfriend is a pretty picky eater. He is from southern Virginia so he is used to more traditional southern food options. This trip was a bit of a struggle for him. So when I saw fluffy pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, and biscuits with gravy, I knew I had a safe choice. The place is in a bit of a weird little shopping plaza right across from the beach. It is kind of 'old 90s Chinese diner'. BUT the have really good smoothies! And big serving sizes and flavorful food. I got a veggie omelet with hashbrowns since I was trying to be sort of carb conscious. I was originally gonna get the banana pancakes. The pancakes others got looked fluffy and delicious. My omelet was huge and had lightly sauteed veggies (tomato, onion, green bell pepper, and cheese). I added pepper and sriracha. My boyfriend got gravy and biscuits with bacon and a la carte eggs with cheese. He really enjoyed it. His bacon was super thick and crunchy and the gravy was on the thinner side. After a weekend in Honolulu, the mister & I were too lazy to cook, so we decided to eat out for breakfast after dropping the kids to school. He chose the kimchee fried rice. I had the spam Benedict. You read that right. SPAM Benedict. The mister wasn't too fancy for his Kim Cher fried rice. He said it literally was Kim Cher fried rice with very little meat in it. He also said it was a little too wet for his liking. I, on the other hand, loved my Spam Benedict. The salty from the spam, the hollandaise sauce was just right and it as served with CRISPY hash brown. I don't like soggy hash brown, so i gotta was Uber happy to have mines crispy. BREAKFAST Vanta Cafe is a hole in the wall place in Wailuku that most of my friends have not even heard of before. Someone suggested I check it out, I finally made time to do so, and I am certainly glad I stopped by. Before going here, just be prepared for a simple place, which appears to be family run, with limited seating. While their menu appears basic at first glance, everything they do seems do have excellent quality and flavor, and the portion sizes are generous. It sounds like they get very busy on the weekends, so either go a different day or expect a wait to get a table. I love bloody marys but unfortunately the do not sell alcohol. However, I did order a Large Strawberry Banana Smoothie ($7.99) and it was full of flavor and had perfect thickness. I have heard that their omelettes and their biscuits and gravy are must tries, so I ordered both. Biscuit and Gravy Side Order ($6.95) was excellent and well presented. I also ordered a special of the day; Denver Omelette ($12.95). It was a full plate of Ham, Onion, Bell Pepper, Tomato, Mushroom, Cheddar Cheese all covered with a large portion of egg, along with a large serving of Hash Browns on the other half of the plate, and even a side of toast is included. I was very happy with my order. My friend ordered a Vegetarian Omelette ($12.95) which was pretty much the same exact thing as I ordered, just without the ham. He also enjoyed his food very much. I should also note that everything came out fresh with steam still coming off of the food. Before leaving, we talked with one of the staff, who I also assume is one of the owners. She was very friendly. She highly recommends trying a few other items and they all sound amazing; Eggs Benedict, Kim Chee Fried Rice Omelette, and a spicy Ramen Soup. I definitely plan to return to try these! Vanta Cafe does not offer Kama'aina discount. However, their prices are reasonable, especially for how much food that you get. Breakfast hours run daily from 6 am until 2 pm. If you are looking for a nice breakfast spot in the Wailuku area, then definitely check out Vanta Cafe. This is also a great place if you are looking for a hole in the wall that most people do not know about. The eggs were over cooked, bacon was under cooked, and the hash browns were barely cooked enough. My husband ordered the special of the day. It was French toast topped with blueberries, bananas, and cream, with bacon and sausage. The French toast was simply thin toast with egg fried on it and the blueberries were clearly previously frozen and still cold in the center. We also shared a hazelnut latte.
