Vasa literally is the worst. The equipment is always broken, the TVs are always on lame stations and the auxiliary jacks on the treadmills never work. The employees aren't overly friendly or helpful and the overall vibe is just dirty. The bathrooms are outdated and pretty dirty and the every time I would respond to their email surveys asking for feedback, I never got a response to my concerns and it never seemed like they were trying to improve. Trying to cancel my membership was a hassle and when you switch plans, they make you cancel your old plan and then pay again for the registrations fees, "hello! I'm already registered with you, i just want to change my monthly payment plan." Would not recommend signing up here at all! Go to the Provo Rec Center! Beware of hidden fees! My boyfriend was home on military leave and wanted a one week pass. They wouldn't sell him a one week pass and a MANAGER told him it would be "cheaper to sign up for a one month membership and cancel at the end of the month" than to buy a couple day passes. Well, when he tried to cancel at the end of the month, they hit him with a hefty fee for cancelling after less than 6 months. No where did the manager ever mention anything about a cancellation fee. Never again. Had an existing premium membership with Vasa, but got a job with Vivint and wanted to sign up with my new corporate discount. After a month and a half of being passed off from corporate to the local gym to my HR to corporate and back to the local gym to try and get set up I was told i'd have to pay a month in advance cancellation fee to cancel my current account. And then I'd have to pay a new sign up fee for my new membership... All to just keep going to the same gym I'd been going to. A friend sent me a free one day coupon so I thought I would try it out while I was in town waiting for a flight. Despite the huge sign that says "OPEN 24 HOURS" the kid at the front desk said it closes at 4pm. Ok, moving on. He asks for my ID which I hand to him and he says "we will hold onto this as collateral". To which I ask "collateral for what?" Have been attending this gym from the beginning, however, there are some recent changes that are incomprehensible to me. First, why are the spin bikes not available for general use outside of class???? Makes no sense to me especially as one of the maim reasons I train at VASA is to use the spin bikes in my offseason training. My team and I train at VASA when it's too wet or cold to ride outside. I haven't tried to use the Spin bikes until last week as I've been riding outside. I showed up at 7 to use the bikes only to find the room locked. Really VASA?!?! Spare me with the excuses. None of the cyclists use your stereo or mess with the lights. I've only seen issues using the equipment with teachers. Second, why do I need to get off my bike to go outside and then have to go in again? Gimmicky at best. I just want to ride the bikes and enjoy a good spin class. You are outsmarting yourself and you have no understanding of your clientele. Third, I have noticed some of the teachers (the ones with a clue) are gone. What gives? Where'd they go? I live in Tulsa Ok. and a VASA gym just opened here. I was excited to change gyms and VASA seems to have it all for a great price. I am a bodybuilder so I know my way around gyms quite well. This gym is so busy it's miserable to try and work out there. I wish I had never left 10Gym and will be going back. Literally can NOT get to any weights or machines! If something comes available 10 of us are waiting and trying to get to it first. Hundreds of people crammed into this place around 5 PM and I am not able to complete a workout or get a solid workout in. And I have had to get creative to try and deal with this but it isn't worth it. I NO LONGER recommend VASA at all. VERY unhappy!! read more

As far as the gyms and local gym staff goes, this fitness center is pretty good. The employees are nice and attentive. The equipment is fairly well maintained. BUT.... The way they handle payments, billing problems, and cancellations is atrocious. We opened an account for our son during his senior year in high school so that he could continue to workout pre and post season for basketball. After graduation, he used his membership through the summer and then left for college out of state. VASA is only in Utah. We were told at the outset that the membership would be transferable to myself or my wife when he left for college. Come to find out that the membership was NOT transferable. So, we were forced to cancel the membership as an additional cost. Had we known of this, we would have opened the membership in either my wife's of my own name and let our son use the facilities as a "guest". Not only did we have to pay the cancellation fee, when we tried to contact anyone about it, no one was willing or able to help us. My wife followed the online cancellation process to completion. When we were charged AGAIN the next month I called the company who handles the billing, Paramount Acceptance. I was told that the memebership had NOT been cancelled! I was also told that I could dispute the charge in the "exit survey" after going through the process online once again. I followed the online process, then as soon as I completed the form I got a message onscreen saying "membership cancellation complete". But, it only shows this confirmation momentarily and then page redirects back to VASA's page. I didn't even have time to take a screenshot for proof!!! I called Paramount for a third time to ask how to enter my notes about the previous months cancellation. The woman there told me it was cancelled. But that is merely verbal confirmation. I wanted written proof this time! I asked her if there was any way to recoup the monthly charge for the previous month since I had already "cancelled" the previous month. She said "NO". I said, "So, your just going to keep the money?" She said "Yes" I can't believe companies are getting away with theft. This one won't without a fight... I will go to my bank and dispute the charges. They create an irrationally large exit cost that makes me never want to do business with them again. The lunk behind the desk- "No, sorry, we don't let people work out for free." Me- "Well, I'm new here, and I'd like to see if this gym will work for me." "You get what you pay for," is what really comes to mind when I think of Vasa Fitness. Locker rooms & bathrooms are pretty much always a mess & need some updating. The employees they have now are definitely the friendliest they have ever had, so props to that! One of the best things Vasa has done recently is updated their weightlifting section. They now have 6 squat/deadlift stations & 2 additional deadlift stations! I've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for one of them! Hallelujah! Poor equipment maintenance. They have two new stationary bikes that give wattage and one of them is broken with an "out of order" sign. The remaining 8 machines are 15 years old, and one is out of order, one has pedals that grind, and one is missing a pedal and cup holders. Have fun jumping from broken machine to broken machine. Vasa as a company itself sucks. They says it is a set price a month with no commitments, thats is fine until the small fees come in. They want you to pay a start up fee. What does that fee entail? Their employee typing your name into the computer? Then they have a late payment fee where the bank sent us a new card and they say since they payment didn't go through they want to charge us $25 to fix it plus the monthly payment. They charge a yearly service fee also of $40 dollars. Since it is month to month they want to charge me the next month fee to quit also. They have such stupid fees and when I call to talk to management they were rude on the phone. They also try to charge you a gym cleaning fee at least once a year. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. I have trained since September 2018, so I like doing exercise and when I arrive in Orem, Utah I wanted found a gym very near my house. When I was looking some gyms, I saw VASA fitness. The first thing that it like it was the cost, because is cheaper than in Colombia, and I saw photos of the facilities and I really love it. I decided to be a member, the workers are very friendly. The gym is the biggest I have been, with a lot of machines, very clean, it has pool, sauna, and basketball court. You can train a lot. If you want a personal trainer you can choose this option and pay for that. It has a lot of locations in Utah, you just need found the near and choose the better plan for you. Every barbell here was bent, and that is not exaggeration. Plates strewn everywhere, the weight area was a mess. 10 and 25 lb plates were very difficult to find. People were dropping metal plates (not bumper plates) onto the floor. Nobody re-racked weights, 45s were always left on the bar. I travel all over the country and hit up a gym wherever I go. I have been a member for a while, since it was golds. The showers, bathroom and locker room use to be really clean and maintained. Now 3 of the 7 showers are missing handles to even use the showers and I keep being told that they put in a service order. The bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a month. Tons of space, you don't feel very squished. There are a lot of provo all-stars who go here, so if you don't like that don't come. But i really enjoy the color and it is laid out very well. The staff is good, contracts and stuff can get a little confusing but just make sure you are committed to going to the gym before you sign up or its a waste of money. Great basketball court, pool, cardio section, and raquetball. But vasa... the only thing you did to change from golds... was a new logo... and some new flooring, make some more REAL changes and i will change this rating. but until then... this is still gold's gym. THE VERDICT: based on the other reviews and that vasa is not letting people out of their golds gym contracts i cannot support this organization. I'm from California- in town for work. I didn't like the hotel gym, so I went out. I read some the reviews- sounded pretty bad. I still wanted to give it a try since Planet Fitness didn't have a lot of free weights and had no barbells. Downloaded a free pass online. I walk in- no greeter, no questions- so I just walked in and headed to the cardio area and started working out. Most of the equiptment looked pretty nasty- I think no one wipes off their sweat after they work out and I don't think they have staff to clean them. The bikes were super dusty and just gross- I'm usually not this snobby, BUT DUDE... I've never seen such a lack of care for gym equiptment. I make my way to the free weights- Weights are just everywhere! I couldn't believe it- I could not find one pair of weights that I needed. I would go crazy if I worked out here everyday... I guess people here do not know how to read the sign that says "Please re-rack your weights" After working out- went to the locker room to wash my hands and just check it out. Just like everything else- pretty dirty and had a musty smell to it. Headed out of there real quick... On the plus side- the protein shake was pretty good. read more

I think that a large majority of people see gyms as humanity's method of achieving pack dominance: like male rams charging full-speed at each other, many go to the gym to ascertain who will become the alphas and who will be cast aside. This is a turn-off for a lot of docile betas like me. VASA Fitness will not change that opinion. Every time you go, there's still a large population of huge dudes and super fit girls that have long since established their dominance over the herd. However, despite my lack of dominance, I still really enjoy my time here for the following reasons: 1. It's a really large gym, with a lot of equipment. Even at peak hours (6-8), there's room for you to do SOMETHING. Of course, if the only workouts you do involve 25 lb dumbbells, you'll probably have a wait on your hands (GET IT!? Wait on your hands, and dumbbells are weight in your hands!). Get creative. 2. The vast population of the gym ignores the pool, hot tub, steam rooms, racquetball courts, many of the cardio machines, sit-up machines/stands, pull-up/dip bars, and most of the weight machines. Really, create a workout centered around any of those, and it's almost like you have a gym to yourself, while everyone waits in line over by the free weights (get it, waits in line!? Because the free weights are all stacked in a line, weights in line... ok I'll stop). 3. The deal for a buddy pass ($6/month) is totally financially unviable for the gym and I feel like I'm a criminal mastermind every time I bring my wife, best friend and his wife in for free. For the 4 of us to workout together costs $26/month, all they need to do is bring ID and sign a short waiver every time. That's ludicrously cheap. Customer reps have explicitly stated that I could bring 30 friends in for free. Get a buddy pass and make some friends. 4. My wife says that the classes kick A. 5. They often have sign-up deals that let you get a membership without paying any of their stupid fees. Just gotta wait for the right time. However, complaint time: 1. The stupid pool STILL doesn't have flags for backstroke. I'm going to complain tonight. It's not hard to string up some flags. 2. If you do happen to want to do a set that involves free weights, good luck. It's a madhouse in there, with most of the weights being used by 300 lb guys supersetting 6 workouts at once, who will sniff you out and hunt you down if you take their curl bar that they were planning on using in 10 minutes. 3. On most weeknights, the 1% of basketball superstars snatches the court from 99%ers like me and plays 5v5 full-court. That's a freaking bummer, because there's 6 hoops in there and they render them all unusable. I want to play 3v3 with my friends or just shoot around after working out, but I can't. 4. They, like seemingly every other gym, have a mountain of fee BS that you have to wade through in order to sign up. It's $19.99/month... but don't forget cancellation fees, a $39.99 "Rate Guarantee Fee", and other nickel and diming. read more

I've been going to this VASA for 3 years (my membership contract is finally almost over) and feel they have a terrible business model. I dislike their model because it seems to be more about getting more members and less about member experience. It's overcrowded, equipment doesn't get fixed promptly, and Dumbbells are left on the floor throughout the gym (they don't enforce it, or pick them up). Other locations might be better than this one. I love this facility and all the equipment and classes that they have available. My favorite class was always zumba followed by dirty dancing on Thursday nights. I miss dirty dancing classes now that I live in Salt Lake City; nobody does a dirty dancing class up here. There are certainly plenty of any machine available for use. I also really appreciate the women only room they have off in the northeast corner of the gym. It is a small room, but for the more self-conscious ladies out there, it's nice to have a place to go work out without feeling like the guys are looking you up and down because... This place is TOOL CENTRAL! I feel like so many of the "Prove all stars" come here and anytime I go to the gym and see that half the girls look like they just put on makeup for a night at the club, I get annoyed. If you are working out the right way, that will be running down your face in no time. It feels like a big meat market in here, and I hate that part of it. It stays really busy until about 11 pm. I used to come here around midnight because that's when all the tools are out getting their NCMO (non-commital make-out) on. (Wow I miss the quirky Utah County/BYU lingo). If you want to avoid a huge, yet not so huge that the selection of machines is squandered crowd, I'd suggest coming during your very obscure times. With it being centrally located between both BYU and UVU, there are always students in and out of there between classes, before and after classes, and what have you. The added features like the lap pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, racketball courts and basketball court are great. They regularly run specials for signing up, so just wait for that to roll around, and you will probaably be able to get a great deal for a membership if you are patient, or if you know someone who works there, otherwise it will start to get pricey. read more

I heard you got a new CEO and he is doing something right, that's for sure. This location is much cleaner. I actually see staff going around putting things away and wiping equipment off. Management didn't do anything to help find me a new trainer. Tried to contact them multiple times and never heard from them until today after I had called corporate. Pricy and typical weight lifting gym. You remember the Gold's Gyms that at one time dotted the country, right? These are the same locations, under new national ownership. The stereotypical image of Gold's Gym remain, slightly rebranded, with new ownership and name. Nice quality and great gyms if you want swimming pools (in a some locations) and you are looking for a lot of free weight workouts. They are pricy. But many argue that you get what you pay for.
