At times it is a really solid gym but most of the time a bunch of the equipment is broken and a bunch of attachments are missing. The trainers have no respect for the people who don't train with them and tend to treat people who are not there clients poorly. The front desk workers are super nice and the gym is usually pretty clean. The try and push training down your throat constantly though so be careful to not be sold on that. read more

BUYER BEWARE Don't believe all the billboard and commercial advertisement for this place. I've had multiple gym memberships in my life so when signed up for a month to month here i knew to ask them about all the "hidden" fees that I would have to pay that isn't included when you sign up (like the application fee, the annual maintenance fee, the guest privileges fees, etc.) and they told me because of the current promotion, I won't have to pay any of it. At first it was too hard to believe but I rolled with it and didn't get charged any of those fees that first month. But the next month I was charged twice as much as I expected and when I called they wouldn't wave the extra fees and denied telling me about the fees I "wouldn't" have to pay and said I "signed" documents agreeing to them but that there for sure wouldn't be any other hidden fees so I let it go and reluctantly paid it. The following month, I was charged even MORE than the previous month. I called again and same thing, they wouldn't wave it. I then proceeded to cancel my membership and was forced to pay yet ANOTHER hefty fee to cancel. Management here isn't reasonable, doesn't care about customer satisfaction, and won't accommodate to your concerns. This place will straight up lie to you just to get to your wallet. This gym loves to take your money and will make any excuse to do so! Customer service is impossible to get ahold of. I wasn't told of any yearly fees or other additional fees that they put through my account. I would call the location, they told me to call corporate, I would call corporate, they tell me to call billing, I call billing, they tell me to call corporate with a different extension, I was put on hold for half an hour, seriously this is such a sleazy business! This is the worst gym I've ever, ever worked out at. 1. They take forever to fix their equipment. Yet they easily have a thousand members paying to lift here because it's the only gym around Orem Provo area. 2. They've been doing rennovations which is great, except they make sure all the new equipment is only for their "group class paying clients" I was asked to get off the new pull bars they put in on the new turf area because it's reserved for the group training. I'd understand that if they had an entire class of people working out, but they had 3 people working out in the class and there was plenty of room. This also happened to be outside of the caged area that they have reserved for their other clients who pay for an overpriced trainer. 3 It's a joke of an establishment. They cram all of the free weights into one corner of the gym, which also happens to be the most used equipment because no one wants to pay for an overweight trainers to train them. They'd do good to improve their freeweight facility and make more room for that instead of their "crossfit like" group training. read more

In my entire life (47 years) I have never done a yelp review, but I have had such a frustrating experience with this company that I felt the need. The gym itself is ok, but often very crowded. But the issue I have had is that it is so difficult to cancel the membership when you want to. For two months I have been trying to cancel, and have been told over and over to " call corporate". I don't know if there actually is a corporate, but I have called at least 10 times, only to be placed in hold that is never answered, or leave a message that is never returned. I spoke at length with two of the gyms managers, Mica and Cameron, both who assured me that they had contacted corporate and that I would hear from them, but of course never have. So just be forewarned, it's only $20 a month, but if you want to cancel, good luck. read more

It's a good gym when you can get in. They open at 8 on Sundays and it's now 8:20. Sitting in front of the gym with several others waiting for them to show up and open. Other than that, staff is really friendly, equipment is kept up, and facility is very clean. read more

Yes yes, I know the switch was kind of out of nowhere and some people are confused because it used to be a Gold's Gym. That aside this place has just improved since it changed to Vasa Fitness There is new equipment and they did some remodeling. I am a little disappointed that I won't be able to use it out of state at Gold's anymore, but I'll live. I don't travel far often, so for now I'm perfectly happy the way things are. Things still work great, staff is still friendly, my personal trainer is still awesome and the world hasn't ended. I will still recommend this place. There is never toilet paper in the bathrooms and they don't clean very well. I often see the employees just standing around not working, and many of them are very judgmental. It is not a very safe environment for working out and they don't seem to care for their customers. read more

Great Facility, sleazy contracts, money-grubbing business. This is the gym I signed up at initially, and it was my home gym for a long time. I signed up for the extra 5 bucks a month visitor privileges, which was a particularly bad judgment on my part. Doing business with Vasa in general was also a rather poor call for me. Salespeople with whom you discuss your membership still cannot be trusted to inform you of the fees and stipulations on your contract. I asked specifically if I would be able to bring the autistic 16-year old to whom I'm a mentor with me sometimes using my visitor pass when I signed up, and was told yes. We got there and were turned away. Have to be 18 to use the additional visitor pass privileges. (We were told it was an issue of insurance liability, but then, of course, we were told if we wanted to buy a day pass for 10 bucks, that, of course, would be fine - but then, I'm already paying 5 bucks extra per month - it just serves to lay the inconsistency and greed underpinning that lie.) VASA Fitness in Orem is my second favorite gym in Utah County, the first is the Provo location. But this place is great, it is HUGE and spacious. They have it all: plenty of free weights, squat racks, machine weights, racket ball courts, basketball court..the list goes on. After the transfer from Golds to VASA, they got funding to make great improvements like a grass area for tire flips, sled pushes, crossfit fun stuff. Also, got a bunch of new cardio machines for the huge cardio area they have here. VASA Orem also has a swimming pool, spa, sauna, and steam room. They also offer a variety of classes here throughout the week which is nice when you want to mix things up a bit. Like all VASAs in Utah, the price is inexpensive they are always offering different deals as far as enrolling is concerned. The staff is as good as you could expect, they are friendly and are there to help and of course they're there to do their jobs and sell you on the premium packages. The facility is huge but it still gets really busy during the primetime hours in the afternoon far into the evening. Overall, in my opinion, it's a really great gym. read more

I do a month to month membership their, which is a great deal and cheap! They have a lot of great variety of machines and there is so much to do there. My issues with it lie in the fact no one puts away there weights, no one enforced putting away the weights and they have no one to clean up the weights. The people at the front desk don't look busy so... anyways there are always broken machines as well, which is a bummer. But I can't complain to much it gets the job done great and has a court for some hoops. read more

You have to go through so many hoops to cancel, they are SO ashamed of their cancellation policy they outsource it to a bunch of incompetents! Great Gyms Good Equipment. But I have had consistent issues with a prepaid membership being cancelled. Also 800 North opens at 5:00 am or 5:20 + am when I show up at 5:00. But in the end VASA is a solid place to work out but little issues keep it at a three star for me. If you got rid of some annoyances with billing, etc. I would give it 5 Stars. read more

Today I was trying to find equipment that had been moved and I asked every employee I could find I finally gave up and called the front desk to find the equipment. The front desk girl made so many excuses and tried to hang up on me and I asked her in desperation who I should ask? Who I should talk to? I walked up to the front desk to beg for help finally because she refused to tell me who to ask. She had lied to me on the phone about not being able to find someone to answer my question and pointed to a guy RIGHT BEHIND HER!!!!! He then LIED TO ME told me the equipment had been removed from the gym because it had injured people!!! I was so disheartened and after I'd finished my workout found where the machine had been moved to. The employees here DO NOT GIVE A CRAP! The guy who LIED to me actually smirked at me when I told him I found the equipment. Zero apology he just stared and shrugged. Billing policies are crooked and shady. My experience with the gym itself was fine and the personal trainers are great. However I got online to cancel my membership on Nov. 8 and was charged at that time for the final 30 days of membership. The following day I was then charged AGAIN $64--this included the annual "rate guarantee fee" to cover the UPCOMING year that I was no longer registered for. When I called their THIRD PARTY billing agency to get a refund I was informed that if I had cancelled on the SIXTH of November that charge would not have been applied. But because my payments autodraft on the SEVENTH, there was nothing I can do. NO REFUNDS But good news!! That means the $21 I paid when I cancelled online now applied to DECEMBER instead! So I have two whole months of membership ahead of me that I will not be using even though I paid $50/month for them!! read more

Great setup, nice big space, good ventilation, fun and social environment, HORRIBLE job with maintaining the equipment. Many machines are broken and don't get fixed or adjusted for long periods of time. Not enough handles available for cables and I find myself wasting time searching for them. The children's water fountain was broken for weeks! Can you believe that? They let the poor little kids go thirsty? If they could fix these maintenance and equipment issues, it could be a great place. read more

Good gym, but dry sauna is always way too hot and they can never keep the temperature at or below the recommended maximum of 220 degrees. The right dry sauna burner does not cycle and should just be turned off. The same is true of ALL the other dry saunas for Vasa, they don't have a temperature control or thermometer in the sauna to control the burners and they are all too hot. This is not good as I see it for the throat and esophagus - all this extreme heat. You don't need extreme heat to sweat. read more

I like this gym but one thing that really bothers me about it is this: all throughout the facility it you'll notice several panels of sexy female fitness models. How many panels are their of male models? ONE. Just 1 male model and about 9 women models. Vasa tries to be very "women" friendly by providing the lady vasa room; however, this makes me feel extremely uncomfortable, sexualized and disgusted, especially in an environment where women are already harassed and objectified on many levels. read more

I am new to Utah and an avid gym goer. I used to use LA Fitness at home and was sad to learn that they do not have any locations in Utah so I decided to give Vasa a shot. I have zero complaints about the facility or the equipment. But I am now dealing with a collection agency that is trying to collect $200 dollars from me, my membership has been canceled, and there is literally not another gym in town that I can use. Apparently my monthly payment of $20, which I have never had a problem paying, was not coming out of my account. Vasa told me AFTER my account had been turned over to collections that my bank account was imporperly entered by the rep who signed me up for VASA which resulted in 3 months of delinquint payment. Even after confirming that my bank account DOES exist, and that the error was on the employee's end and not my own, they will not allow me to pay the balance and continue using their facility. I have begged and pleaded with the FEW individuals that I could successfully get on the phone after being put on hold for over an hour at a time. They all say there is nothing they can do. I keep getting calls from Vasa as if my membership is still valid offering coaching and classes. Which is why I was shocked to learn my membership was delinquint. I even confirmed my bank account details of with a rep a month prior to them sending me to collections and damaging my credit. I have never dealt with such awful customer service in my life. Especially being that I was willing to rectify the situation by paying the balance in full, took several hours of time out of my work day to wait on hold to get through to SOMEONE that even knew what I was talking about. This doesnt even include the fact that I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY ACCOUNT WAS DELINQUINT until it was too late. AWFUL company, awful managment, plenty of hidden fees, I would not recommend them to anyone after what I have experienced. Keep in mind, three months of membership equates to $60... not the $200 they forwarded to the collections agency. read more

Never ever again.. the locker rooms were pretty disgusting.. to start off the hot tub was closed down by the health dept... the steam room smelled terrible like mildew and was yellow all over like there was mold, the showers were super gross like they hadn't been cleaned in a bit, the pool looked dirty to the point we didn't want to go in. I would recommend driving a longer distance rather than go to this dump. read more

ZERO STARES ....... DON/T JOIN..... I was a member there a year ago, the hours said they opened at 5 A.M at the Sandy, UT location multiple times no one got there until 5:15-5:45 am one time no one got there until 6:12 AM, So I canceled it 3 months later (they still charged me a cancellation fee) Signed up for 24hr Fitness about 4 months went by and they closed all their locations in Utah and all accounts got transferred to VASA , Downloaded the APP. put it on pause multiple times, and still got charge for 2 months of it, (never when once, 0 check-ins with all the covid stuff happening) called 09/08 cancel my account asked for the refund for the 2 months and was told I needed to show proof and should of snap shoot the multiple times I put it on hold on their APP. and no refund would be refunded and was told that through 2 different employees one on the phone and another online! You would think with zero check-ins and being an transferred member and with covid happening it would be a simple deal , not for this company, Just another cooperation screw job read more

Basically the worst gym in Utah. Very shady business practices. First year I was a member (back when it was Golds Gym I signed up for a year long membership. I DO NOT let companies keep my card information to make automatic withdrawals. Especially Golds Gym. I had multiple people in my family (4 people) have their credit attacked because of Golds Gym continuing to charge their cards even after they cancelled their accounts. When I first signed up I told the representative that I do not want them to have any record of my card. So I told him that I will pay for everything up front including whatever BS fees they will charge me in the future (random "cleaning fees" that clearly don't do anything). So he put everything in one lump sum and I payed for everything at the beginning of my year. Well I had absolutely no problems with my membership so that made me very happy. So just before my year was up I decided to renew my membership. By this time the gym changed names to VASA fitness. When I renewed me membership I got a different representative and when through the same process. I told him that I do not want VASA to take automatic withdrawals from my card so to please put everything on at once and to not keep my card information. So I paid for my year long membership and thought everything was taken care of. Well it wasn't. At the beginning of February I got a call from some sort of collections agency or someone that represented VASA fitness saying that they tried to run my card for a mandatory cleaning fee they have every February for $40. But the card that they said I had on file was declined. Problem #1 I told them not to keep my card information on file and they clearly did. Problem #2 The reason why my card was declined was because my bank sent me another card to keep my account secure. So I talked to the lady on the phone and explained that I told them that I told them not to keep my card on file. Therefore I never updated my card information because I had no idea they had my card on file. So I was pretty upset since they clearly lied saying they didn't keep my card information and they were shadily trying to charge it. So I called VASA to explain the situation and have them take my card off file. The person said that the cleaning fee was something I agreed to in my contract which I was never actually given to me to read. The rep just told me the "rules of the gym" (no fighting, you need to wear a shirt etc.) and then had me type my name on a keyboard. That was it. When I called to complain the lady emailed me a copy of my contract that I "signed" and my initials were typed by every paragraph at a certain point which I swear I didn't do. Because I would have clearly remembered a part saying: you will pay $40 in February for cleaning. Now I honestly don'y really care that much about the money aspect as I do the horrible way it was delivered. Why don't they just have you pay that $40 as part of the signup fee? Seriously, do you REALLY need to do something shifty like sneaking it in every year? When I went to pay for my $40 fee at my gym they told me that it was company policy to keep someones card information on file and that it hadn't been deleted (this is now the 3rd time i was told it was not on file or that it was taken off file). So I told them my whole story and finally got them to tell me that it was taken off. Then when I was about to pay the $40 fee the guy told me that it was $48something. Um I had just talked to that person on the phone earlier that day who said it would come to like $40something plus tax. Well the guy said that since they tried to run my card and it was declined my bank charged them a fee. So they were pushing that fee back on to me. After some talking they finally removed the fee and I paid what I went there to pay for. Since then everything has been okay as far as the finance side goes. Some positive sides of the gym: -They are finally changing out the covers on the old equipment. -Some locations have a decent selection of equipment. - There are a ton of locations which is convenient. Really crappy stuff about VASA: -lots of their equipment is extremely run down -when they change out cables on fly machines they use different sized cables which creates an uneven pull so one side works harder than the other. -I have literally gotten a fungus infection on my legs from their equipment at the 800 E. location in Orem. (And I use those alcohol wipes) -The gym is always cluttered with dumbbells not in the right place. -The VASA next to the University mall is a nightmare for dumbbells. They are ALWAYS in the wrong place or scattered around the floor next to the rack. -If you don't go extremely early in the morning then you will have to deal wit the worst people around. VASA attracts douchebags like poop attracts flies. Advice I would give VASA: Go to Lifetime Fitness and learn how to properly run a gym. And take special note on how clean they are able to keep it. read more

Just renewed my membership, tried the online payment paying $21 a month to go to any Vasa when I saw a $64.09 charge on my account this morning. I didn't know that they had a hidden fee of $64 after the first 60 days after my renewal. Thats bull crap what makes it worse is I am a college student trying to pay for my schooling and getting a unexpected $64 taken out of my account has hurt. Because I didn't know about this, I didn't have enough money in my account and now my bank is charging me an additional $34. After moving to Utah I was skeptical about signing up for VASA because I had never heard of it. It seems my skepticism was well deserved as I was charged five times the amount I agreed to pay this morning for fees that I never agreed to pay. I created a Yelp account Just to warn you guys. When I signed the contract associates conveniently made no mention of any "annual fee" and I assure you I would have never signed up If I had known about this fee. I simply would have signed up for my Universities gym. I was told and was under the assumption that I signed up to be charged 9$ a month, and paid a 1$ sign up fee. This is straight deception, meaning associates lied to me. Upon calling VASA's office to sort things out associates were extremely rude, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor they told me that none were available and one would contact me by phone tomorrow the following day.Well here I am and still no phone call. I notified my Credit union that they charged me fraudulently. TO MAKE THINGS EVEN BETTER. Since I refused to pay this bogus fee until we sorted things out they charged me an additional 25$ fee. It does not surprise me in the slightest that VASA fitness has a HORRIBLE BBB and Yelp ratings. Lying to your customers wont get you anywhere. I'd been a member of Golds for a few years before an injury made me cancel my membership. When I rejoined what is now VASA, they told me it was a brand new "personal training gym", now that they'd gone through the enormous hassle of adding green turf to a corner of the gym. So they (Tamia was her name) pushed this personal trainer narrative on me extremely hard, but I turned them down on the basis that I simply don't have $120 to spend every month. So they call over the head trainer, who says "oh, well you can do it for a month for $20, no big deal." Sounded fine. At THREE different junctures, I told them that I only wanted a single month. They smiled and nodded. I signed away my life and rights in about seven of these extremely dense "terms and conditions" documents that are absolutely riddled with fine print only to find out today that I, in my foolish haste, had neglected to read the 44th page of the third document (sarcasm, but not too far off) which clearly stated that I had signed up for a YEAR of personal training at $120/mo. I went in to the office today and they told me I could either find someone to take the sessions from me or I could MOVE OUT OF STATE. So now I'm stuck paying over $1000 dollars to a gym that is falling apart and is not at all well maintained. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE. Do not let yourself get burned by these scumbags. They will nickel and dime you for everything you have. PLEASE seek elsewhere and do not make my mistake. read more

I've never been happy with my VASA experience, ever. The salesman are pushy, vague and very not upfront about fees and charges. It seems to good to be true when you sign up... It is. There are fees and charges that aren't explained fully upon sign up. There is a cancellation charge meaning it's NOT truly "month to month", so I have no clue why they advertise that. If I could give no stars I would. I had a membership and loved going there. It was welcoming and I even did the personal training. I was there for about 6 months with no issues. One day my instructor was being very verbal about how great my body is. An uncomfortable amount of "compliments" about how sexy and perfect it is and so forth. I was very uncomfortable and left. I called VASA to tell them that they need to train better because it's not appropriate to talk to anyone like that especially when you are working. They never called me back or said anything. I'm not giving my money to a company who sweeps those things under the rug. I called and cancelled which to my surprise I had to pay $200 to do so. read more
