My boyfriend gave me a 7-day pass to use at this LA Fitness on Northern. When I scanned the QR code, the staff were rude and insisted on seeing an ID, which I provided. I showed my valid work permit ID with my name and photo, but they refused to accept it. I ended up having to call my boyfriend to come back to the gym just to scan the pass himself. The way the staff treated me made me feel discriminated against, and if this happens again, I'll convince him to cancel his membership. read more

Worst gym at enforcing weights back where they belong. Dumbbells never in order or on the floor somewhere. Same with barbells. You go to a machine and previous user did not unload the weights. It's like a thing to not re-rack here. Ridiculous. But this falls back on management. I have to come here because it's the closest to my home, but sometimes I do go out of my way to go to Greenway/Moon Valley for a much more organized gym when I have time. It's a shame because this is one of the newest gyms. read more

I wanted to update my review here to better reflect this place. The last review talked about it being horribly messy and unclean, with a 2 star rating. It must have just been a bad spell, because before that, and currently, this staff has been on top of it. Perhaps just a couple of weeks when they were short staffed or issues with something. The equipment is updated and the ventilation system is nice, however it is crowded like a bar with penny drink specials. I had to pass on the hot tub because it was overcrowded. It's nice that this kids club stays open an hour later than my neighborhood club. read more

I stopped going here because the parking lot is full of homeless people every day, camping out in groups, doing drugs, and leaving tons of trash around that sits for weeks. The smell of urine and feces can be a thing, too. I've contacted the manager several times and they act helpless when all they need to do is apply for an Authority to Arrest with the Phx police department, so that any trespassers can be removed. In the meantime, be prepared to drive into a dumping ground when you arrive at their parking lot. read more

Of all the LA Finesses in town, this one is a notch better. I have not had that happened to me personally, but I do know it is a common problem across other gyms too. It has the basic stuff; however, a lot of stuff I wanted to use for strength training kept getting roped off with a sign saying only for people with a personal trainer. This was never explained to me when I was given a tour (in fact, they said I could use the area), which is frustrating. I wanted to start swimming before work and the person who signed me up said there was never anyone in the pool that early, which was not true. There is always someone in the pool, sometimes it's full. I also thought the pool was very dirty. The whole place is actually pretty dirty. I would go to wipe off the treadmill when I was done and it would always be covered in dust/dirt. I also think it's shady that I signed up for the membership on a Sunday morning but when I called to cancel, they said I had to go in there in person M-F 8-5 and speak to a manager. I'm sure they know this is an inconvenience for a lot of people. read more

I added my daughter on a month to month plan, as she lives in another state and was visiting for the summer. Three days after adding this $50 plan, the gym was shut down again due to Covid. Although, I requested to cancel (since she would no longer be here when the gym reopened and therefore wouldn't have used her membership at all), LA Fitness refused and only offered to put a hold on her account, which had zero effectiveness, since she wouldn't be able to unfreeze and use the membership at any point. read more

We were all excited to join. Went 5-6 times. I never was asked any time to register guest all the times we went. He's on my membership card so it was never an issue. This last time we went same thing. I used my membership card on phone, scanned in and they said Have A Good workout .We said thanks. I went back and asked how to work the tv on treadmills to hear on my ear buds and some chick jumped my stuff about some paper to sign and I was mad. Uummmm since when! This LA Fitness location is one of the closer one to where I live so I gave them a quick call. Oscar was quick to set something up for me via phone call. I then went in person and was surprised to see that the gym was newly renovated. My last impression of the gym wasn't so great as it was overcrowded. But for the past few days, I've been going around 7-8 PM and the gym was about 30% filled. There's nothing smelly either. The music choice is definitely interesting but motivating! Alex was also quick to get me started with the membership. Overall, great gym, doesn't smell, spacious, not too many people, and there's definitely a great variety of machines. read more

We decided to join LA Fitness in March of 2020, pretty dumb considering the pandemic that was about to happen. We paid an initiation fee, first and last months fee upon signing. We went once, and we got the message that they were closing all gyms. (Wether they knew they were gonna close at the time of our enrollment is uncertain) the sent us an email saying our account will be frozen for April and May and that we won't be charged for that period. They decide to open in June, and start charging us again. When I went to the gym I noticed that NOBODY was wearing a mask. Masks were not an obligation. KNOWING THAT GYMS ARE ONE OF THE PLACES YOU CAN MOST LIKELY GET INFECTED BY THE VIRUS. Anyway, we decide to freeze our accounts until we feel more comfortable to come back. They said they could, but will still charge us. While a pandemic is going on, they want to still charge us $10 a month for not coming. Please note that a pandemic is not in our control and therefore it's not by choice we can't go to the gym. Also on a side note, my wife is pregnant, and the last thing we want to do is go to places where it's very likely to contract the virus. We decided to cancel our accounts because of poor management of the situation. The pandemic is still here, they should at least give their members the choice to freeze their accounts until they feel comfortable coming back. Especially when one of the members is pregnant and more at risk. INSTEAD, they choose to lose two member/ advocates, you get a bad review, and we will most likely not recommend LA Fitness to our circles... and for what? Just because you rather charge us then trying to keep us as members. read more

Who wants to get fit in the North Central Phoenix area, without breaking the bank? LA Fitness offers decent memberships for less than $30/month. They do have an "initiation" fee and annual fees, but if you're a good bargainer there's ways to get those reduced. Make sure you get your contract "printed" and read it before signing. That's the smart way to do business before lunging into a long-term contract! Nice gym and lots of amenities. Pool, racquetball and basketball courts, and plenty of weights/machines. The locker rooms (at least the male one,) is cramped for elbow room, and the sauna is SRO at times (standing room only.) There's no towel service at this location, and you'll definitely want to bring one. Very FEW people are courteous enough to wipe down machines when they're done - even though there's a plethora of paper towel/sanitizer stations around. There's small key/sunglasses lockers near the front door that are nice - if you can find an available one to use. There's also a Kids Club (day care) which I would imagine would be helpful if I ever had my grandkids with me! The free WiFi is "eh" depending on how busy the gym is. Don't expect to stream Netflix on your treadmill! Download your stuff to your device first. Most stair climbers, bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, etc all have individual TV screens, but the channels are very limited and it's not Bluetooth ready - you have to have wired headphones to plug in. And unless you have an old iPhone 4, the charging docks on the machines will do you no good. No lightning cable hook-ups. They're all antiquated/large plugs. They also have a small food/drink stand in the gym that is privately owned/not connected to the gym in any way. The lady who runs it seems very nice. Over-all, the gym is pretty decent. I've already used the membership at a location in Tucson as well. If your work reimburses you for working out/being healthy - LA Fitness has an app that tracks your check-in's, and you can export the data which is convenient. read more

I have been training at this gym for four years now. As a female in the fitness scene it's easy to feel uncomfortable. However the staff at 22nd and Northern are the best! They have made me feel welcomed and safe everyday. I appreciate how attentive they are towards me and all gym members. I had an issue with another gym member being inappropriate towards me and they went above and beyond to ensure my safety. And continue to do so months later to check for any concerns I may have encountered. read more

The staff is super nice to greet you as you come in and when you leave. However, I'm only giving 3 stars because of cleanliness. I've been going to this LA Fitness location for a while and although they did a good job remodeling, it's not very clean. I get weary of putting my things down on the ground when I can visibly see body hair and dust collect. Especially by the hip abduction machine and stretching area. Besides sanitation, I liked that they added more squat racks and the staff is nice. Keep in mind it's a very busy gym so I can understand that it might be hard to keep clean and wipe all the equipment down, but sadly because of cleanliness I might start going to a different LA Fitness. read more

**WARNING** THERE IS A THIEF OR GROUP OF THIEVES WORKING THIS GYM!! The new facilities are very nice and the staff is friendly but patrons should be aware that there is a problem with theft from locked lockers. Last Thursday night I unlocked my combination lock and found that my purse was no longer there! I reported it at the front desk and the young man working there said that a woman came to him earlier that day and said her cellphone had been stolen out of her locker, which was also locked. It's a nice gym but if you use it you should probably use one of the little lockers they have at the front desk to secure your important items until the the thief is caught. They're pretty vigilant about making sure only members enter so it's either a member or an employee. read more
