ZERO STARS I need everyone that has or is thinking of a VASA gym membership to read this. Don't do it. I have been charged over $800 in personal training fees even though I will never use their training. I was told in November to not worry about it and it's been taking care of when i asked to no longer receive personal training as it was expensive and i was moving back to texas. what i was told was furthest from the truth as I was texted mid april saying I had 8 $60 dollar training that i had been charged for after my conversation in November being told I no longer need to worry. they asked if i am ever coming in to use the trainings I had unknowingly payed for...? I had said to cancel everything and refund the money to me since i won't be using these trainings and they had said they won't be able to do that. They still charged me for two more sessions after a call and email sent to their "support" saying i will not want any training and a refund. yall they will not listen to their customer and they do not care about you...they care about their money. I am a college student and have never had such little amount of money since attending college. please don't sign up as they will only wish to take your money as i have seen from my experience. Also, if you move in with your parents and give the real excuse of moving somewhere that there are none of their gyms near your new location then they will not work with you as they have said they need utility bills as a proof of move...I don't pay bills for utilities in my parents house. I have no idea how I am going to get this money back and it's been a discouraging and upsetting process and I only hope to protect others from joining this gym. JUST. DONT. read more

Tons of equipment, 8 squat racks and 4 deadlift platforms. Wish they had more incline benches but otherwise plenty of stuff. Yes it gets busy but what do you expect it's an affordable super gym. Confused by these 1 star reviews. I've not had billing issues. Most people don't even review gyms so take the bad reviews with an ocean sized grain of salt. read more

I'm not going to lie. The facilities are amazing. All the locations I've been to are clean and well equipped. But it's the back end of things. Charging fees all over the place, for price lock, cancellation, you name it. Absolutely ridiculous. Dealing with these guys is far worse than dealing with the federal government. Vasa is an active scam. I can't believe no one is talking about this. If you change credit cards or your card declines when they charge membership fees your account doesn't just cancel, but rather they count it as debt and continue to "charge" you, growing a negative balance. This is unlike any access service EVER. Eventually your account is sent to collections. I just found out I have hundreds of dollars at some collections company now and had no idea. 0 Stars if I could. The facility itself is fine but go at the wrong time and there will be so many people you'll wish you'd just stayed home. But that's not the major complaint. The real reason it gets 0 stars is for its absolutely predatory fee structure. You think you get a membership billed monthly, and they might even throw in a "promo" that waives the sign on fee. But that's just the start. Annual fees, cancellation fees, cancellation restrictions... Your all in costs are way above just the monthly bill. They've essentially made sure that they'll get theirs no matter what, and then some on top if they can. All on your tab. Steer well away - There are other gyms in the area that will provide a higher value for the cost. And they'll be transparent about what goes on in the fine print. I like the atmosphere in Vasa. I love the people that go there. I have a couple of things to say that I think could improve the place. The cinema room works 50% of the time. Sometimes it's blaring audio and other times it's simply not working. I do appreciate how one week they showed a new Jurassic Park movie every single day. That's cool. One of the chest machines that is most commonly used is never working, always broken, and never repaired. Some of the weights are dingy and shedding their outer layer. Overall, love VASA but there some easy maintenance issues that can be fixed very easily. read more

Not a bad gym, equipment is standard, they have plenty of machines and free weights. Only gripe is it get very packed at the Provo location. Dealing with the staff is quick and painless. Overall, a decent gym. UPDATE: Travele back to Spanish Fork/Provo area. Went to pay for my temp pass, I was turned away due to the 'pandemic' BUT was told I could join the gym, then cancel and be allowed to train....unreal. I am from Henderson, Nevada. At the end of June, I went with my family to Orem, Utah on a family vacation for two weeks. I went to the VASA fitness at 1585 N State St, Orem, UT and asked if I could get a two week pass. The employee told me that they did not have such a pass but I could sign up for a free month trial. I would simply need to cancel before the 30 days and pay a $25 cancellation fee. I asked him if there were any other fees attached. He assured me there were no other fees. I signed the contract and went online after returning home to cancel. Once I logged into the VASA website, I discovered that they had charged me a $15 fee for some training (which I was never provided) and another $45 for the next month's gym membership. I called into Paramount Acceptance (the parent company I presume). They took off the $15 fee but said that there was nothing they could about the $45 fee. I explained that I had been assured it would only be $25. Their response was that it was in the contract and legally binding. I paid it so I would not be sent to collections. read more

I am profoundly disappointed with the service I received from Vasa. The experience I encountered while attempting to cancel my subscription due to an unexpected move was nothing short of a scam. Despite my persistent efforts over the course of several weeks, I was met with an appalling lack of responsiveness and assistance. Countless phone calls went unanswered, and not a single return call was made. The company even went so far as to deny me the ability to leave a message, which is simply beyond comprehension. Such an astonishing display of negligence and disregard for customers is utterly unacceptable and merits serious reconsideration of their business practices. I ended up paying $100 for one month of use. Would give zero stars if possible. read more

In all reality I don't have much good to say about this gym...but the reason it gets 2-stars instead of 1 is because it is convenient. That is the only reason I go there. Let's delve deeper!! For starters they are the worst at hidden fees. They really like to advertise their 9.99 a month plan. Well, in addition to the 9.99 a month they have a fat registration fee in addition to a fat "rate guarantee" fee. I have ended up paying something closer to $20 a month for their services. The employees seem indifferent at best and the machines are total garbage. One of my favorite machines has been broken for close to 6 weeks and they seem to have no desire to fix their broken stuff. The weights and benches are old and falling apart and they seem to play about the same 10 songs each and every day. Their TVs are old and they seem to only play CNN and infomercials. The day I find a better gym or lose the desire to work out, I will leave this hell hole in an instant. In the meantime I will continue to go because of convenience. As an update it is now going on four months and some of their machines are still broken. They have absolutely no desire to listen to their customers and provide a good experience. read more

This place is dirty and run down. The weights are breaking, the building is old and run down, and the drinking fountains (and everything else) are dirty. I understand that some of this probably comes from it being cheap but they could do much better. They advertise a great price but they are full of hidden fees. For example, when I tried to cancel I found out that I had to cancel 30 days in advance. Well, that may be in the contract and I am sure they will respond to this comment (as they have with many others) confirming that it is in the contract. That doesn't change anything. That is a stupid policy. There also should be a no fine print policy so we are warned about these things beforehand. I'll explain at the end what is probably the reason that I didn't know about it. Just let me explain how this works. My monthly payment is normally due on the 20th of each month. So, on May 20th I pay my monthly payment and on May 23rd I go to try and cancel my contract. Well, I see that I have to pay another monthly payment and the rate guarantee fee due. This monthly payment does not cover May 20-June 20 (I had just paid for that on May 20th). Instead it covers June 20-July 20 and the rate guarantee fee covers June 20, 2020-June 20, 2021. SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY I HAVE TO CANCEL BEFORE MAY 20TH TO AVOID PAYING A FEE THAT COVERS JUNE 20TH AND BEYOND!!! I already paid through June! That is ridiculous. Not to mention that I had to call them 1000 times before they called me back and "helped" me work through this. If I am not using the gym after June 20th I should not have to pay that fee. Oh wait, they made me pay for the month of July membership fee as well. So now I can use the gym until July 20th even though I don't want to because I tried to cancel 27 days before that month started instead of 30. Look, I understand that $9.99 a month is a good price and I can't expect it to be the nicest gym in the world. Because the rate is so low I even understand having a "rate guarantee fee." But that doesn't excuse having this kind of policy. Well, maybe I would have been more aware of this and not so frustrated by it if I hadn't had honesty problems from the very beginning. A couple months after I signed up there were some payment problems and I called to figure them out. Well, the guy told me that he looked at my account and saw who had signed me up. I was told that the person who had signed me up had been very dishonest with many people and they had to fix the accounts of many people and that he had been fired. While they did fix my account, there seems to be a lot of reviews on here about payment problems. Seems like VASA should do more than just comment on people's Yelp reviews saying that they are always looking to improve. read more

Smells bad and THE CONTRACT IS RIDICULOUS. Advertised as $10 per month but they'll hit you with a "Rate guarantee fee" two months after you sign. Bad customer service. It took almost a week to FINALLY cancel my membership. My husband got hit with the rate guarantee fee the week that we planned on canceling our memberships and they refused to refund it. I had a membership with golds for 2 years, and immediately got a year membership after the transition with vasa. I paid the yearly guaranteed rate fee or whatever it is for $50ish. Plus a year membership for $190. My membership ended in February... I knew I would move early June so I was like whatever its all good. Ill pay the 25$ activation fee, 10$ a month for three months... Alex, we would like to thank you for giving us so much of your money, and even though you have thought the way we handle contracts is poor, you have always tried to support us on yelp. However, since you cancelled before 6-months that will be another $25 fee. soo... $80 for 3 months, or $26.66 a month. Thank you for your business. Now get the f*** out. Let me start of by saying that this gym is utterly tiny and disgusting. The bathrooms/locker rooms are covered in mildew, sweat, and grime. The stench punches you in the face as soon as you walk in. It makes public high school locker rooms look pristine and desirable. Half of the machines are old and usually not fully working. Half of the elliptical machines are busted looking and dirty. Moreover, this tiny gym is packed constantly since it is no bigger than an austere restaurant. You'll spend half of the time waiting in line to use anything. VASA is no better than Gold's Gym. They are a despicable company and will nickel and dime you every turn. They'll try to hook you in with the attractive "Month to Month" pricing, but they will still make you sign a shady contract that is packed with a slew of hidden fees and legalese in tiny 4 PT font, not to mention a $25 "Cancellation Fee" if you decide to cancel your membership. They are a shady company that does not care the slightest for the customer. Save your time and money and go to the rec center or 24 Hour Fitness instead. read more

VASA Fitness in Provo is one of the smaller locations in the state of Utah but it sure is my favorite. Ever since the transfer from Golds to VASA, they have gotten funding for a ton of new equipment which is nice! This VASA provides that "home" feel as far as gyms go, it's almost like you're part of a family here. Please note that it is the main location for college students to go because the price is inexpensive as far as memberships go and it can get quite crowded during primetime hours. They really have everything you need to get a great workout in: plenty of free weights, squat rack, powerlifting platform, benches..etc. They also have a ton of machine weights for those who don't spend too much time on the free weights. There is plenty of cardio equipment which is also new and great! This isn't your gym if you want spin class and yoga, you may want to head up to the VASA up in Orem for that. The staff is beyond great and is always seeking to improve the fitness experience for their customers. They are super friendly and helpful. Whenever I have any sort of questions/concerns, everyone is trying to help whether it is from management, trainers, or the front desk. Like I said, it's like you're part of a family here! read more

After probably 10-11 months of membership, I cancelled last month. Today was my last day of that membership, but I decided to consider continuing, just going from premium down to a basic membership for two more months. I thought the last 10 months would exempt me from the extra cancellation-before-6-months fee for new members, especially since I caught it and called while I was still technically a member. But they said there wasn't anything that could be done about it. Kinda disappointing. I enjoyed the variety of activity options offered at Vasa, but I'm really bummed I won't be going back the last two months I live here. read more

I wrote a Full review on the other Orem location that covers all of VASA fitness but this one is struggling. The dumbbell rack is a mess. They are never in the right place or are scattered everywhere! They need to do more of a walkthrough and keep it clean. It would be really nice if they asked some of the people that are there constantly to stop yelling profanity all of the time. If you want to swear a ridiculous amount and be extremely crude could they be a little more quiet about it? The equipment is spaced out pretty good but even some of the new equipment is starting to tear or break down. I give this location 2 stars because there is more space and equipment I like to use. read more

Pretty much a scam service. The facilities are decent but there are so many hidden fees. They offered me a 30 day free upgraded membership trial and then after 30 days they tried to keep charging me for the more expensive membership even thought I told them I didn't want it. Then they tried to charge me some ridiculous cancelation fee just to downgrade from the upgraded membership that I told them I never asked for. Cancellation fees, rate guarantee fees, application fees... I would avoid this place. Mostly just a hangout place for overprivileged tools. read more

They are also very misleading in saying that their monthly membership is only a certain dollar amount as they frequently charge for other things as well. This is about the signup process, not about the gym. The gym itself (in Spanish Fork) is very nice. When my wife and I went in to see about signing up we were told of the different programs and amenities and given a tour and decided we would each go with he $21.00 per month package. We worked all the way through the sign up process, gave emergency contact info, gave our credit card for billing and then on the very last page there is a mandatory checkbox for $49.99 annual price protection fee. They word it like it's insurance to make sure you can keep your same great rate but what it's really just a HUGE LIE! That extra $50.00 bucks a year buys you nothing. It means that your $21.00 per month membership fee is really $25.00 per month. Now, would I be willing to pay $25.00 per month. Of course! It's a really nice gym. What I refuse to do is be OK with being lied and tricked into paying the extra money. It is a sleazy way to get an extra $50 bucks out of people. So on sheer principle I voted with my feet and canceled everything walked out. If you want my money you have to be straight with me. This kind of of stuff smacks of the old Golds Gym and that is not a good thing. read more

Not a fan of their policies. We moved and tried to cancel our membership and it was way harder than it ever should have been to get a hold of someone to talk to to cancel the service. Calling the actual gym, they sent me to a different number that would never let me through to talk to a real person. Conveniently located, but in a very old building with low ceilings. The gym always smells like a high school locker room and the equipment is probably 20 to 30 years old. All of the Vasa gyms in Utah County are really beat down. The weird thing is that the Salt Lake County Vasa gyms are pretty nice and have good equipment. It's like the corporation sends all of the old equipment and hand me downs to Utah County. But the gym on 900 is really the worst one of the lot. In fact the first week working out there I was on a stair climber machine and I looked up to see the silhouette of a rat walking through the clear light cover. There was rat feces spackled all over. I went in to sign up for 3 months. The guy hounded me personally " why are you only staying 3 months". Then he gave me a tour. Very very small gym. The only cool thing was the was a dark room for running a it had a big TV playing movies. I was expecting 10/ month as advertised. Ha. No. It's a 25 dollar start up fee after taxes and then 10 bucks a month and then either a cancellation fee for only going 3 months or renew membership for a year which is 50 bucks. At least the guy was honest and said yeah it'll be actually about 60ish bucks a month while you are here for 3 months. So it's not 10 a month. It's 60. They could have just said that on the website. The cheap membership sounds pretty good right? SIKE. They're going to charge you a rate guarantee fee that ends up being over $50 to guarantee so your rate won't change. How often are they changing their rates in the first place to make this necessary? On top of that, the gym is always packed so it's easy to spend most of your time walking around trying to find an open space to work. If you want a place to work out and you go to a university in the area I'd highly recommend that instead. There's more space, it's cheaper, and you'll get the same set up as if you were going to VASA. They're dishonest and corrupt and pretend to help out college students but they'll screw you over. read more

Great gym! It's very clean every time I come, the staff is very helpful also. Less busy than most of the gyms.

It's clean and the staff are nice. Don't care for the extra fees (sign up fee, cleaning fee, price-lock fee, and cancelation fee) but at least it's not always super crowded. (Good work-out facility on 900 East, in Provo. It's small, but fits a bunch in) The awful part is the TEN DOLLARS A MONTH that is literally advertised ALL OVER TOWN... We enrolled on black friday for their $1 enrollment and had to spend a long stressful time arguing away a $50 hidden "Convenience" fee that very same day. Then two months later they add an annual $40 maintenance fee. so.... $10 a month plus $90. that is NOT $10 a month. We only wanted a year membership, so we signed up. When we went to cancel, they cancelled us, but Lo and Behold, they kept charging our credit card. Also, we signed up for personal training, which they kept charging us for. We are working with the bank now, but it is a rough road. Slimy accounting policies. Stay away. read more

Gym itself really isn't that great. But that's just half my issue. My issue is that on January 6th 2020 I was successful in cancelling my membership (I even have the email from them saying as much) but was charged the monthly fee on February 3rd 2020. Unfortunately I had discontinued my old bank account (that was connected to VASA) after the fact of receiving the cancellation confirmation email and therefore had no idea they were trying to get money from me until I got mail and calls from their collection agency Aldous & Associates who have made it abundantly clear they only care about taking my money and refuse to discuss the charges. I even mailed them but they apparently did not look at it and simply mailed me back asking for money. Oddly enough... in bold on their letter back to me were the words "At this time no attorney has personally reviewed the circumstances". This trouble has turned the initial $10.71 charge into $81.96 and they're threatening my credit! I called and emailed the billing company Paramount Acceptance many many times (very hard to get a hold of) and asked why I was charged and wanting to resolve the mistake. I was very upset that they provided no information as to why I was charged for February and told to talk to the debt collectors who also have also provided no information or reasoning as to why I was charged. In fact they refuse to do anything but collect debt! (big surprise there). I have gone into Vasa fitness twice to speak to the people at the desk and looked at their computer system. Both times I was told they don't know why I was charged for February and that I'd have to call Paramount. BTW I was actually NEVER EVEN TOLD by Paramount or the debt collector when the charge was for (that's odd). I only found out it was February 3rd from their computer system at VASA that I looked at. I thought I was double charge for January until I found this out, this is arguably worse! You've heard that right! It gets worse! The letter I got from the collection agency for some reason neglected to tell me when and what exactly the charge was for! Gee, that's kind-of important to know, don't you think? It's not like I'm ignorant enough to just send people money without knowing how I owe them!? (but some people are unfortunately...) I have been around this loop many times and it has been months and I still have no idea why I was charged for February. Obviously that leaves me unwilling to pay the expected debt because apparently nobody wants to spill the beans and explain it. That makes me very suspicious! I am very tired of this game and being treated like a crook by Paramount and the debt collectors. I'd have paid the whole damned thing if any one of these groups could have even ATTEMPTED to explain why I was charged for February after my contract with VASA was no longer valid. Again, I successfully cancelled and received the membership cancellation confirmation email on January 6th. I have all the letters and emails saved. I could provide them to anyone at a moment's notice... I wonder if this has anything to do with VASA bleeding money from Covid??? read more
