I walked into Vault 31 with high hopes--the vibe was spot-on, and I loved the variety of games available. After ordering food and a round of drinks for the group, we sat down at one of the gaming booths, excited to dive in. When I went back to the counter to ask how to start playing, the bartender told me it was $5 per person to access the games and that guests needed to consistently order drinks to maintain access. Honestly, that seemed fair to me. However, things quickly went downhill. I offered to pay the game fee, but was told I needed to buy drinks first. I explained we had just bought drinks--he had literally served us minutes earlier. His response: "You need to have an open tab, and we won't let you play unless you order more." At that point, the experience soured. The staff felt dismissive and unwelcoming throughout the interaction. Despite already spending money, we were denied access to what we came for. We finished our drinks--which, for some reason, didn't count--and left. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, likely my last. This place is pretty mind blowing. I've been here three times. It had been a while since my last visit and they have massively grown! Gamer centric bar lots of options and fun things going on. Parts of it felt like a museum because there is lots of cool stuff to look at. I'm sure they thought I was a crazy person wandering around looking at everything. Drinks were pretty sold and creative. Extremely rude and ill-tempered staff. I understand working customer service can be soul crushing, especially with the verbal abuse a lot of people experience, but the staff here have no problems taking it out on its customers unprovoked. The atmosphere and theme is really cool, so it's a shame how the owner treats people. We were prepared to reserve a table for a birthday hangout, but their website stated they no longer do reservations. Which is fine, we were prepared to change plans if it didn't work out. 4 of us arrived just before max capacity was reached, and it was admittedly pretty busy. However, 2 members of our group were running a bit behind, and arrived after the bar had put up a "capacity reached" sign. Since we made sure to get a big table, and we still had a couple of empty seats, we asked if it would be okay for our friends to join us when they finally arrived. They said this would not be possible. When our friends finally did arrive, the bar had cleared out considerably (under half of the tables were being used). Our friends approached the counter and asked if it was okay for them to join us since it was a lot emptier now. They were told they were not welcome, and that we should have reserved a table if we wanted to guarantee a spot for everyone. When we told them we had tried to reserve a table beforehand, but they no longer do reservations, the owner admitted this was correct (and that he had lied to our faces). We asked how long our friends would need to wait, and we were told it would likely be hours before they could reassess capacity (mind you, it had cleared out considerably since we had arrived, and no one was even at the bar ordering drinks). I think they just wanted us to leave, because the owner also accused one of our group members of being "abrasive" to the staff earlier in the night. All of us are mild mannered people pleasers, who have always tipped well and treated the staff with respect every time we've visited. We were not going about this interaction expecting special accomodations, or going in with an entitled attitude by expecting them to let our friends in. We were respectful, didn't express annoyance at the situation, or try to be difficult in any way, and were fully prepared to go elsewhere if things didn't work out. Nothing we did warranted the hostile treatment the owner was giving us, so it was really off-putting to treated in such a way. We left pretty shortly after this, and even went up and apologized to the owner in case we had made their night more difficult, and were met with the same snarky, hostile attitude from earlier. If you look at the way the owner responds to other negative Google reviews, it will kind of give you an idea of how we were treated. I don't know if we just caught them on a bad night, or what, but I hope they figure out whatever it is they have going on in their lives. read more

For all you gamers out there, this is the place to be. They charge a pretty affordable price to use their gaming systems. And if you want to bring your own games, they're very accommodating for you to do that. Being old school I went with my own cribbage board and I enjoyed playing there. Be sure of which game you are playing or be ready to be up charged for switching, upon realizing our game was not multiplayer the main bartender with a beard was very snappy and annoyed for us wanting to switch games. "We don't do game switching !" Was his exact response, however we were not aware the game we had chosen did not have a multiplayer option. After agreeing to be charged extra he reluctantly changed the game for us. From the $5 all you can game price, to the fun themed food and drinks...to the staff that remembers our orders and our names and welcomes us like we are family...it really feels like a welcome and inviting bar to hang out, drink and have a good time. Closed for a private event on a Saturday? Made a special trip on our one rare night out. I want my gas money back. Literally watched another couple walk up and leave disappointed as well. Based on the negative reviews, though, and seeing how childishly the owner responds to every negative review with some sort of tantrum, this was their first, last, and only opportunity to earn my business. Neat video game themed bar in Vancouver! Located in a strip mall, it's definitely not the kind of place you'd expect in a suburban area... but as a visitor of Vancouver it was a nice surprise for our group of gamers. I wouldn't categorize this as a "barcade" like Ground Kontrol in Portland or LVL Up in the Bay Area... they don't have coin arcade machines, but actual console setups you can play while drinking/eating. There are couch set ups that seem to be reserved for large groups, but you can also go up to the bar to play some games on the screens above the bar. They also have a collection of board games at the tables that are available to play. I would also note - majority of the setups were for modern consoles, like Switch, Playstation 4+, Xbone, etc. There were maybe 2 TV's that had classic consoles at the ends of the bar, but for the most part they were occupied and didn't offer much if you were a group of 4. You might wonder - well why don't I just buy some booze and game at home with your friends? Well you go for the vibe - for a bar in a plaza, this place was well decorated with the Fallout vault and other video game themed nods. Also RGB lighting, because gamers love that stuff. My personal gaming hub (the living room) may have a bunch of video game themed decor... but I don't have the effort to put up cool lighting or make the video game theme decor flow, like this place. And unless you have a friend that's a great bartender... it's nice to have some themed cocktails over the usual beer/wine/whiskey. It's a $10 cover to play games, but at the time we were visiting the cover charge was waved if you could prove you were vaccinated. I thought it was a nice incentive. Since our entire group was vaccinated and we had proof on our phones, we were able to waive the cover fee and put that money towards drinks (lol). The drinks were great! Coming from the cities of Seattle, San Jose, and SF... I've gotten accustomed to paying for overpriced drinks, but here the prices were really fair for what you got. The drinks were tasty, a little strong at times, and the themes were fun given the environment (Mana Potion and Health Potion, for example). Finding a game to play was a bit confusing - it took awhile to get some help on a Sunday night. Though the TV's support all modern consoles, they also only had so much of each - we went from trying to rent out a Switch, to a PlayStation... then finally settling on the Xbox (a console that we don't really care much for because we have gaming PC's lol). Still, our group of 4 had fun playing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat em up game while going through drinks. There's also the novelty factor you have to appreciate about sitting at the bar and playing on the screen above with a controller. Didn't get to try the food, but it was your typical American/Western offerings of pizza and the like. Drinks were solid for the prices and atmosphere, so I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area. Chill way to spend a Sunday night for out of towners, Wish we had more places like this! read more

Let me explain a few things here. The first time they opened I was super excited about this place. I brought my dad here and his friend. They both were like wow! Old game systems and loved it all. The drinks are always so good. The shots are great as well. All the video games you can possibly think of. Drinking while gaming? Who wouldn't?! The service is always great every time we come in. Friendly fast the food is always good! The food portions are what a bar should have. If you come in as a group and want to play on any of the game systems y'all have to stick together. Tuesdays are always bingo nights so if wanting to do bingo recommend showing up right when they open or they fill up fast! Last night was the League of Legends Watch Party @ this unique video game bar, and I had MAJOR FUN!!! We were able to play the old SNES System "Super Mario World" game, and a selection of "Kirby" games too. There are a PLETHORA of options to choose from, and that's part of the fun. Vault 31 offers their own in-house wood-fired pizzas (Rad and Delicious)! The owners here make their very own dough, AND sauce! Last night we tried the "Pickle Rick" pizza! Surprisingly delicious. Composed of red sauce, pepperoni, and bread N' butter pickles! YUMMMMM!!!!!! Any of their pizzas or sandwiches are absolutely delish! This is, without a doubt, our FAVORITE place to go for date night. The food: delicious comfort food. We have never been disappointed by the food we have been served here and they recently expanded their menu! Our personal favs are the whole high pizza, double jump abbey smash burger , and THE COOKIES. Ask for the cookies. Ambiance : A nerds DREAM. They have it all. Table top space and board games to borrow, ( cute little lights too if you can't see in dim lighting! ). Even the 2 top tables have extra room for being able to eat while playing a boardgame. They have video game options out the KAZOO - and a QR code you can scan to see a list of their options. THEY EVEN HAVE A DREAMCAST. RGB lighting and fun nerdy decor everywhere. A recent upgrade they put in was a long desk with 5 high powered gaming PCs you can use with friends while having an adult beverage. ( You can tell that they sunk a good amount of money into this project for all to enjoy so everyone use your damn napkins ) We used them for the first time last night and had an absolute BLAST. Nerd Service: the owners and staff here are awesome. They are attentive and friendly always. I read some of the other reviews here mentioning that the " staff seemed grumpy " or " they didn't let me walk around the restaurant during COVID without my mask on " ( dude really? ) But we have NEVER experienced any sort of unfriendly atmosphere here despite frequenting the establishment dozens of times in the past 2 years. No they don't offer table service - however it's not that kind of place. This is a BAR not a restaurant - and there is a literaalllyyy a giant blinking sign above the bar that says " order here " in all caps. Like literally.... it blinks. One of the reasons we fell in love with this place was because of the friendly people that own it and work here. I recently visited Vancouver and was really looking forward to checking out Vault 41 with my friend, who had hyped it up for its gaming atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing. When we arrived, the place looked great, and we were all in high spirits. However, things took a turn when a bartender rudely demanded to see our IDs. After we complied, he rolled his eyes and walked away, leaving us waiting for service. We sat there for over 20 minutes while it felt like the staff was prioritizing their friends over us. It was awkward and frustrating, especially since it seemed they were having a great time while we were ignored. Honestly, I can't imagine ever being treated like this in New York. Feeling completely overlooked, we decided to leave and headed to the Star Bar in Portland instead. What a difference! The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was friendly, and we had a fantastic time. I don't know if it was just a bad day for Vault 41, but my experience there was far from enjoyable. I can't recommend it based on my visit. There are definitely better places to spend your time and enjoy your night out! Oh I forgot... I've never written a review for any place in my life until now. This is my first time, and it was definitely worth it. I want to share my feedback about the experience and hope they can improve their communication skills with their patrons and treat them much better. other than that, it was a horrible experience wouldn't recommend it to anyone read more

Date night, we met up with a friend. It was much smaller than I had pictured in my head but much cooler too! We ordered drinks, they were ALL fantastic. The bartender ladies were friendly and made excellent recommendations. We couldn't sit at the bar together, one of us didn't have their vax card on hand and that was a requirement. No biggy, we moved to a table and got the same awesome service. I really love the decor, everything video game related, menu includes! There were several stations where you could sit and use consoles while you hang out. I don't know if there is a time limit but my party was there for a while and no one left those comfy little couches and so, we never got a chance to play Mario Kart or Sonic. However service kinda sucks...I got here at 4pm on a Tuesday so not very busy but took almost 20 minutes for them to finally log me into a game? That's crazy? And it didn't seem like they take their customers as a high priority. I was told they'd be right with me when I wanted to order and then proceeded to take the next 5 minutes cleaning and grabbing glasses? I'm relocating to Vancouver in a few weeks, and while I was down from Tacoma touring a few apartments, decided to stop in for a quick drink. While I can't speak to the food, or the gaming experience, the staff were very friendly, and it looks like an awesome place to kick back, have a few drinks, and play some video games. I definitely plan on stopping in again once I'm settled. The staff even invited me to join their Discord to make some new acquaintances before I move down there alone, which was very thoughtful! Love the idea and game systems. We went here for the first time for my step son's birthday. As soon as we walked in the one guy seemed super annoyed that we were there. Once we ordered we decided to play a game, totally fine until my husband's controller wasn't working. I heard a lot of huffing and puffing that he had to get us a new controller. Then after a bit we decided we wanted to play on the switch, it was like pulling teeth to get the guy to even talk to us and do this. He seemed super irritated and bothered that he had to do his job!! I thought the rudeness was cause this bar supports LGBTQ community cause my husband was wearing an American flag hat, but after looking at the reviews on google - no the owner is just a d**k. Service was kinda terrible. For an activity bar, there were a ton of barriers to said activities. I get that you want to keep your stuff from being broken, but still. Lots of parts of the bar's vibe can be reduced to "flippant memeish profanity" but it comes off like a toddler practicing curse words on the playground under their breath. This bar is a fun place to go to. I love the atmosphere and the way the place is decorated. They have unique names to their drinks and their food. I like going here to play some video games, or even card/board games. The service is wonderful, I like how friendly everyone is. They are also always willing to make suggestions on food and drinks if you don't know what to choose. I come here a lot and play Smash Bros. I went there for the first (and only time up to this point) for a friend's birthday, and it wasn't a fantastic experience. We were not treated well by the staff on multiple occasions throughout the night, even being chided once that they don't bus tables by a staff member, even though that wasn't an expectation that we had, and he was very rude about it. Additionally, the purchasing of time for video games is wrought with confusing, and in my opinion, arbitrary rules, and our group was continually treated as if we were attempting to steal from them or cheat them. This establishment has many rules that govern it that are not explained or posted clearly. It was a very poor experience. read more
