Very open atmosphere. I was the first in for an early lunch. The service was excellent I only ordered the caprese salad and loved that they used yellow tomatoes. I'm use to more of a softer mozzarella similar to a burata which was a little disappointing & it could have had a tad bit more of their balsamic englase. The house Pinot was ok... Bit of a wait on Saturday night. Hostess said 1.5 hours but ended up only .5 hours. Lots of empty tables so we speculated they were slowing down seating for the kitchen. Had a nice Caesar salad and large enough for 3 of us. Focaccia was soft and delish. I had chicken parm with spaghetti. Was nice but not overly cheesy. Spaghetti was meh. Hubby had bees sting pizza which was quite tasty. 12 yo had fettuccine Alfredo with side of shrimp. He loved it but I felt shrimp was dry. Service was hit and miss. She would disappear for a time. My friend and I went here last night for a girls dinner. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We got the burrata and Caesar salad for starters. The salad could have easily been an entree. Both were presented lovely and were delicious. She got th margherita pizza. The sauce was delicious, the crust super crunchy but still soft. Probably one of the best I've had in awhile. I got the carbonara and it was so perfectly creamy. The bacon was thick little chunks of it. Pricing was decent for what you got. We had just finished working in Vancouver and decided that we wanted to eat on this side of the river- at a restaurant new to us. Hubby's YELP app told us that there was an Italian restaurant nearby - Nostra Tavola, so we chose to give it a try. And we were glad that we did. Despite being located in a strip mall, Nostra Tavola has a feeling of elegance once you step inside. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a modern feel. (I happened to be wearing a Roma jacket, what a perfect time for that). We were seated promptly. Our servers were friendly and helpful, especially Collin. I consider myself somewhat of an expert at cooking Bolognese, so I often order it when we are at an Italian restaurant. Their Rigatoni Bolognese was very good, but perhaps not as good as mine :). Hubby ordered the Fettuccine with added marinated shrimp. He said that it was delicious. We also shared an arugula- heavy "Italian Table salad". Lucky we love arugula. The good: Friday evening and there was no line. Staff were friendly. The vibe of the place was good. Salads and bread were solid. The cocktails were good too. I really wanted to like it. I mean, you can add chicken parm to any entree! What's not to like about that?? The not so good: The chicken parm added was a fried chicken breast with some cheese on it. No sauce, so it was dry. Great idea but the execution was a miss. The alfredo sauce wasn't a traditional either, not bad just different. The pasta was undercooked. Not Al dente but this weird mushy texture. I've had this place on my 'list to try' for awhile now. We came in for lunch on a Saturday around noon. Note: Yelp says they open at 11:30, but they don't open until noon (per their website). I've asked Yelp to update. They are located in a busy strip mall. The face of the restaurant is super cool looking, but a bit misplaced for a strip mall, in my opinion. There's plenty of parking available. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our hostess was also our server. She was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The interior was really dark. They could use some candles and flowers on the table?! The interior seemed kind of industrial, not very cozy like most Italian places I've been to. After perusing the menu, we decided to try the risotto sausage balls (arancini), focaccia bread, Caesar salad and Margherita pizza. The food was good. Our favorite part was the risotto sausage balls. They were so flavorful! The price of $15 seemed a bit steep for two risotto balls. The focaccia bread wasn't what I was expecting either. It was super fluffy, like white bread, not dense, no pockets, no olive oil or herbs on top. Kind of odd, and expensive for three pieces at $7. The Caesar salad was good. We liked the dressing and tons of parmesan, but I did notice some pieces of romaine weren't fresh and browned. I'm not happy when I pay for a salad with brown lettuce. The Margherita pizza was good. We were astonished how they could get the crust so thin and cooked so well without burning it. It was nice and crispy and toppings tasted fresh, but kind of pricey at $19. Overall the service was good, food was okay, and the atmosphere lacking. We ended up paying $70 for lunch and we shared everything. We made a reservation just to be safe and our table was ready for us on arrival. The waitress was very nice, it was nice inside but a little plain appearance. The half booth style table had one of us sitting much taller than the other so that was a little odd but not terrible. We began ordering and food came quickly. We ordered the burrata and table salad. Went back again today and food and service was just as good as the first time. Restaurant is clean and modern. We went at 3pm and it was pretty slow. We love going after lunch rush and before dinner rush. The waitress let us know they had a couple menu updates and that they were going to start swapping things for seasonal items which sounded fantastic to us! We got the Italian table salad, burrata, focaccia, arancini, and the bee sting pizza. If you're not getting a pizza when you come here, you are missing out!!! I will continue to shout from the mountaintop, best pizza in Vancouver!! Thin crust, the red sauce is on point, meat is excellent quality. The crust is thin but crispy & chewy in all the right places. The arancini was two crispy balls from heaven, filled with risotto and sausage, served on top of marinara that you will want to lick off the plate. I went here for lunch today and was disappointed. I've been here before and enjoyed the pizza I ordered then," but it was a few years ago. Today my sister and I split an order of eggplant Parmesan and Cacio e pepe. The eggplant was pretty good, if skimpy. 4 small rounds, cut relatively thick. 2 more rounds would have felt more generous. The sauce was good and it was smothered in plenty of cheese though. We thought they should have served it with spaghetti. It was the Cacio e pepe that really disappointed. It had barely any flavor. This is a dish that needs lots of cheese along with pepper and pasta water, but what we mostly got was the flavor of pasta water with a little cheese melted into it and no pepper at all. The server ground a dusting of pepper on it but that is NOT how this dish should get its pepper. We were both quite disappointed and for the price, we felt ripped off. There wasn't even any salt on the table to zing it up. I was here a few years ago and was pleased to return, but I doubt we will be back which makes me sad. Made reservations through Open Table. Was seated quickly. Selected food from the Happy Hour menu. This restaurant is located in the space that Rally Pizza used to be located at. Near Planet Fitness, off of Mill Plain. Ambiance was nice. High ceilings. Lots of windows. Casual dining. We chose the garlic knots (rolls), Caesar salad, calamari, and Margherita pizza. The garlic knots were the BEST!! Buttery with lots of garlic. Light, fresh, and steaming hot. Freshly baked bread items are my kryptonite. I consumed them so fast I didn't even take the time to dip the garlic knots into the side of marinara sauce provided. The house-made salad dressing for the Caesar salad was good. I love anchovies. The salad is enough for two. Wish we had better cuts of romaine lettuce though. That would be my only complaint. Not enough to bring the review down from a 5-star rating. The calamari was excellent! The batter was crisp. Not as oily as other places I've had calamari at. The calamari tasted fresh. Not hard or gummy. The dipping sauce was good too. But the calamari was so good that I didn't use much of the sauce. The Margherita pizza was delicious. Love the air pockets in the dough, the sauce, melted cheese, and fresh basil leaves atop the pizza. We ordered so much food that we had enough to take home for lunch the next day. Could not resist ordering the tiramisu. LOVED it! Not too sweet. It was light and smooth. They way we like it. My husband and I ate all of it. We will most definitely be back. I'll order spaghetti, plus meatballs (which are extra). I told our kids about this place (they're in their 30s). I mentioned to them that the garlic knots were even better than the garlic rolls at Bravo's Italian Restaurant in Pearl City, Hawaii (Oahu), where we used to dine, when we lived there. THAT got their attention. They will most definitely dine at Nostra Tavola soon! I discovered this place after reading about it in the Facebook Group, "Dining in the Couve". My friends and I were hesitant about stopping in because of all the negative reviews we've seen online and on social media... We finally decided to give it a try and we were please let surprised that it wasn't as bad as the reviews we saw. We all ordered cocktails while we waited for our food, which took awhile. Our waitress was nice and friendly. For appetizers we had calamari and garlic knots. Both were good and off the happy hour menu. The happy hour menu was a little disappointing. Not a big menu and only a couple bucks off the regular price. For dinner, we each ordered a different entree, but all were pasta dishes. They were all good, but spendy for the small portions. The chicken on the eggplant dish was really dry and my friend was a little disappointed in that. I was over in Vancouver and did a quick Yelp on pizza in the area. The pictures looked enticing and honestly - the pizza is nearly 5 stars, but oddly sliced! We had a reservation, but they had plenty of tables. Our server was attentive and food came out pretty quick. They were sold out of arancini - still trying to figure out winter quantities, I suppose. A bottle of Chianti, antipasto plate, Caesar salad, and a Bee Sting pizza were the perfect meal to stuff two! The antipasto plate had some delicious bread and options, great pairing with a salad. Got the Bee Sting pizza- very good, crispy, right amount of heat(spice) and paired great with the hot honey! The drinks were great as well- we got a Mona Lisa and a black rose; excellent drinks, not too strong, and not too sour! Easy to find and parking was good too! Only thing that we did not know was we did need a reservation- although someone did not show up for their reservation it allowed us to get a table, but the host stated that usually that does not happen and with out a reservation you typically won't get a table. When the antipasto at an Italian restaurant is memorable, you know the food is going to be delicious. The staff is attentive, polite and made us feel at ease (I couldn't see the menu w/o a phone flashlight)). The place was humming with folks, families. We experienced an awesome neighborhood vibe and cozy ambiance. The penne and sausage is delicious! It is best shared unless you are super hungry. I don't know what they do to prepare the sun dried tomatoes but they were AMAZING in our dish. I love surprises and this was such a pleasant one. The house wine (Chianti) is also amazing and complemented our main course. Sharing gave us room for dessert which the house provided for a special occasion. I complimented the chef on the way out. Spaghetti sauce lacked flavor. I asked for Chicken Parmesan and was informed that they were out. Instead, I got meatballs. Sadly, those lacked flavor and my plate could of used more sauce 3. I hate to be the one, but I have to be honest. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, but finally made reservations tonight for a Mothers Day dinner and was a little less than impressed. Everything is a la cart, the bread, the salads , etc. We ordered a moccasin bread for a table of 4, there were 3 pieces with one butter and it was like 9 bucks for the bread. I ordered a martini that was $14 that came in a tiny port wine glass and we actually laughed at it, was so small... tasty, but maybe half the size of a martini. The table didn't have enough utensils, so we had to steal some from the neighboring table. We ordered 2 fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, one sausage pene and one margarita pizza. The pizza was fine, the sausage penned sauce was good, but had maybe 4 crumbles of sausage. The fettuccine Alfredo was pretty bad. Very watery and tasteless. The chicken looked like it was pre cooked frozen and microwaved or something. Not something Id expect for the price tag. It was definitely not fresh and on top of it not being fresh, it was cold in the middle, which it disgusting. 2 of our party didn't finish their meals because it was just bad. I'd honestly rather have gone to Olive Garden. Im sad that's my first, and definitely last experience there. They were very slow with the food even though they were at half capacity. A lot of empty tables and still was almost an hour wait for sub par food. Just a heads up, if you go, stick with a pizza and beer. Also, there are a lot of good pizza places in town that charge the same price for a large, comparable pizza. Our server was nice. For the price I would expect better. They charge the same price for food and drinks as the restaurants on the waterfront that have a view of the water as opposed to people just leaving the gym. read more

This is truly a hidden gem! I would have never expected to find such quality Italian food in a strip mall. Every dish was of such quality that I'm salivating as I write this review. We shared the seasonal burrata plate which was outstanding. We shared the rigatoni bolognese which was so delicious and made with a braised beef. The flavors were so deliciously complex. Located in a strip mall, it's easy to find and has ample parking. The interior is visually pleasing. I've been here a few times and I've had the Aracini, which are good and few pasta dishes- the Bolognese, Cache e' Peppe and most recently the Carbonara. Thanks to posts here I decided to check out Nostra Tavola tonight. Everyone had a really good time and I'd go back for sure. Service was very good. Tables were being bussed and reset quickly. Drinks came out fast and were AMAZING. Bartenders and cooks looked like they were working at the pace, that they could put love into their work. Highlights of the night, the cocktails. Tiramisu cocktail was over the top amazing and gorgeous to look at. Aperol spritz was perfect and also stunning in a giant white wine glass. My drink though..OMG! I had a paper plane. It was the Best paper plane I've had to date. I had to switch to peroni beer after that because I just wanted to chug paper planes in three sips a drink lol . Highlight 2 was the service. Never felt neglected. A quick glance at our server and she came right over two separate times. She didn't miss a beat. The food was a mixed bag. Things that were really good.. the Cesar salad with anchovies, I loved it, and ate all the anchovies. I'm gross, I know. The orecchiette with hazelnut pesto and ricotta was a stand out dish. Would recommend. Tiramisu was so good, and one of the main reasons I came. It did not disappoint. The chocolate cake was so decadent and perfect. The other side of the mixed bag of food. I sent back the carbonara. Somthing was wrong with it like it was bitter, bitter does not belong in carbonara. I think this was an accident, like somthing went wrong during the cooking process. Politely sent it back and it was taken off the bill with no hesitation. The other thing I would not order again was the pizza. We got the vegetarian. There was no flavor to it. Could have used some finishing salt for some pop, maybe some garlic, fresh herbs, anything to give it some life. Also the crust wasn't very good. It may have been over cooked. The burnt spots tasted like charcoal, the crust was dry and cracker like. The overall experience was really good. It's romantic. Even though it's one big open dining room it's quiet and you feel like you're in a secluded place. The food was good minus a couple things but I'm a professional chef and I'll find every imperfection. When I saw there was a non-chain Italian Restaurant in Vancouver - in its spot, I almost fell over with joy! I made reservations for a Thursday on Open Table. Sat at a high top table which I enjoyed. Collin, our waiter - was super attentive and helpful. Thanks dude! We ordered the Manila Clams and Olives to start. Clams in white wine - is one of my favorite dishes. This dish and toasted bread - was delicious. The broth was full of a lot of flavor and the pancetta - it worked! My husband despises olives - and we both loved the olive dish. Unique and refreshing. We split the Arancini and the Penne with Italian Sausage. HOLY MOLY. Some of the best flavors I have had in a while. The Arancini had the perfect crunch and consistency and the flavors were out of this world. I had to stop myself from ordering another. The flavor profiles on the Penne and Italian Sausage - wow! I didn't think red onions could work in a pasta and boy was I wrong. We ended with the Tiramisu which I historically don't always love. This desert changed my mind. I had wanted to try this place for awhile and tonight was the night! Husband is carb loading before the Portland marathon this weekend so it was a great excuse for pasta. We went in just after 6 on a thursday, no wait at all. You'll want reservations on a weekend though! We had the fettuccine alfredo, caesar salad, calamari when the ficasa bread. Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. Food was served quickly! Calamari had fried artichoke heart and lemon slices added in which were yum! Pasta is not a large serving but the sauce is made fresh each batch and was perfect. Caesar had sliced anchovies on top and fresh ground pepper was offered. This should be your next date night! Great vibe; the restaurant was full the whole night, but we got reservations the day of. Interesting cocktail menu with some fun drinks. I would have liked a few classic Italian cocktails--Aperol Spritz, Negroni (they did have a twist on a Negroni). But I enjoyed the Negroni I ordered and the bottle of Chianti was more than affordable for a restaurant. The menu has appetizers, salads, pizza and pasta. We had the focaccia, the antipasto, a pizza and a pasta. The pasta was the big standout--get that! I tried the linguine and the hubs and I shared the gnocchi. Both were fantastic! The antipasto could use some tweaking. The focaccia was good, especially with the shallot jam. There was also a quince butter, if you're more into sweet than savory. The pizza (the chicken one) was pretty good, but I'd go for the pasta. Give this place a try! It's definitely worth it! read more

It's a Friday ready to start my weekend. Hungry for Pasta, my daughter and I decided to try Nostra Tavola on Mill Plain in Vancouver, Wa. Delicious!! Greeted with friendly hostess, had no reservations. We were seated and server was at our table within a few minutes or less. We ordered the House Salad to share, a side Focaccia Bread with whipped butter, Alfredo Linguine with an added Chicken Breast and their Orecchiette with Hazelnut Pesto. Marlece was magnificent and make our experience was top notch. Each couple had brought a bottle of wine. Corkage was very reasonable at $15/per. First we started with a pizza for 6 and Calamari. Both delicious! Dinners were all fantastic! We had the Penne with Italian Sausage, and shared a Cesar salad. Bill came to $98/couple, including tip and corkage.
