I've had a number of great experiences at Birch Street, and recently popped in for happy hour. It was a lovely summerish day so I opted to sit street-side, which was very pleasant. There's table delivery service but no table-side ordering so I headed in and ordered the current special Pecan Old Fashioned and waited for my friend. When he got there, he ordered the Gin Gimlet and Brie Fondue, which was served with sliced baguette and apple. The street-side vibe was great, we go to people-watch and enjoy the weather, while also enjoying great drinks. I used to live just of the street, and find that it's one of the places I'm happy to make the cross-town drive to visit. read more

Not a spot for dinner, but wonderful shareables (artichoke heart dip and pulled pork flatbreads) and desserts (chocolate lava cake and ice cream). Stopped in for the first time after having dinner in Camas. Cute bar with a cute little vibe. Dark inside and plenty of seats for a small bar. They also have outdoor seating. Drinks were good, but a little on the spendy side. We ordered 4 drinks total, all from the special cocktail menu. Service was okay... Very slow service for it not being busy at all. There were only 2 other people there when we got there. My husband went to order our second round of drinks and it took over 15 mins for them to be made. Came here on a Sunday evening before a movie in downtown Camas Super cool atmosphere. Kind of old school with nostalgic pictures on the walls. They make several specialty cocktails. They have a special the menu with a bunch of delicious drinks. My daughter and I had some fancy drinks off the menu, and we were not disappointed ! Deliciousness My daughter had the cucumber Collins. Fresh cucumber, and some lavender syrup. So delicious. My first drink was a fancy margarita. Very yummy. I chose to have a draft Stella Artois for my second. I absolutely adore this place. Drinks are good and they have an excellent variety. My go to when I am there is a Vodka Gimlet. I recommend going in the evening when it's darker outside, because you can really enjoy the ambiance of the lounge. It's dark and the music is soft. I love to look at the menu as they have the location and date that the drinks were first introduced. The bartenders are friendly and very nice! Drinks come quick and made very well. read more

It's nice to know there's a place in downtown Camas to get an amazing sazerac! We left by 11:59, but they had already turned off the lights (on a Saturday night!) I am so upset! I have never been here before. I ordered a spicy margarita which was too spicy for me. The bartender said he had to pay for my drink if I didn't like it and tried to remake it. He added lavender to it which didn't taste good. Then he said if I didn't like it he was stuck paying for my drink which wasn't fair to me or him, pressuring me to not complain. This was after he called the owner. The bartender should not have to pay for a drink that someone didn't like or drink. I ended up getting 1 shot of tequila of tequila for $10 & giving a $13.50 tip so the bartender would not have to pay for the drink I didn't like or drink. I've never had this happen and am never coming here again. This is so unfair! read more

I didn't have food. We had drinks and listened to cool jazz music from Neon Moss. I don't drink alcohol so the bartender mixed me up something that tasted wonderful. Very busy place but they did their best to get everyone taken care of. The ambiance was fabulous and the drinks that I saw coming out to the tables were raved about. read more

Been a customer for 5+ years. So sorry to see Dennis pass away. I have to say that the new guy is a real come-down. He complains under his breath, and makes the drinks wrong. Really wrong. I ordered a drink with citrus, and he built it in the glass. No shaking. Another day, he mixed a stirred cocktail in the glass, and missed an ingredient. Still great ambiance, but it needs to be spot-on. I need this place to be careful, and accurate. Sad. I will be exploring other establishments. The Hammond and Acorn & Oak have more respect for real cocktails at the moment. read more

It was a hot summer afternoon when I walked into this bar for the first time. First impression, it was the kind of classy old-school bar that you'd see in 1930's movies, with a secret passage to a members-only high-stakes gambling room, and a basement where shady characters were quickly wheeling in pricey bootleg liquor through the back door. I sipped my excellent Moscow mule at the bar, where I could observe the mixology magic. I've been to a lot of bars, and not many bartenders these days wear a tie and uniform, and move with a confidence and style that only comes with decades of practice. I looked around to see if Nick Charles was working his way through a line of martinis. When I wasn't playing "name that cocktail" with the bartender (that was fun, by the way!), I was studying the impressive high-end liquors stocked on the shelves. God in heaven, they even have The Botanist, my favorite gin from Scotland! If you want weak cocktails at some bar blaring One Direction, served up by hipsters posing as bartenders who think loading up a drink with fruity syrups would disguise the shitty base liquor, go elsewhere. If you want a work of art served up by real pro at a place that celebrates the era when beauty and bliss were conceived in a cocktail shaker and born in a martini glass, come here. read more

WOW. That about sums up our experience tonight. My husband and I walked in at about 8pm tonight, Saturday 02/17. The place was nearly full, but we were able to find a couple of seats up at the bar top. It took about 10 minutes for a server to grab our drink orders. While we waited for our drinks, we watched the only bartender make drinks for other patrons. What we witnessed of this bartender was enough to make me throw up a little in my mouth. Firstly, we saw him pack ice down into a glass with HIS HAND. Then, he shook another drink in a glass using HIS HAND to cover it instead of a shaker. That's right. HIS MOTHERF****** BARE HAND. Touching the ice, the liquid and everything in between. Needless to say, we walked out after waiting for a total of 20 minutes. We never got any drinks, but we probably didn't want them served by that guy anyway. Shame on him. He should have his MAST certification revoked for such offenses. I should also mention that this wasn't our first time into Birch. We had been there several times in the past but hadn't visited since the remodel. Family members told us to steer clear (quality and service had gone down since the changes), and I wish we had listened. read more

The friendliness and the cocktails have changed. This has been a favorite place for several years but recently the service and drinks have left a bad taste. The service has always been slow but when customers are treated with disdain it leaves a bitterness that is hard to get past. Still, maybe the staff is having a bad night, right? Amazing retro cocktails. I've wanted to try an Aviation cocktail since the first season of the Blacklist. James Spader's character, orders it for someone and says, "It's from the 20's, tastes like spring, doesn't it?" Well, 8 years later I finally tried it at Birch Street Uptown Lounge and it's my new favorite cocktail! The weather was beautiful and we had our drinks outside. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the bartender did not acknowledge me even when I paced back and forth not knowing where to stand to place an order. I then decided to stand directly in front of him for over 5 minutes. He seemed to make a concerted effort not to make eye contact. Eventually a second man appeared from the back and greeted us and took our order. I understand that the bartender might have been "in the zone" mixing drinks, but it did not make me feel welcome. However, I will definitely be back to this establishment for another "taste of spring". They also did a nice job concocting a lemon mocktail for my daughter. read more
