When we arrived Saturday evening, the place was packed. The ambience of this place is really cool. It's totally decked out in German flags and wooden alpine decor that I imagine what Germany restaurants will look like when we eventually visit We waited approximately about 30 minutes for a seat which was fine. We got to our table and were tended to right away by the host and the waitress. I ordered a large 22 ounce size Stein of German beer and my son enjoyed one of their cocktail specialties, The Black Forrest, which consisted of , Jägermeister , whiskey, chocolate, and cream, topped off with chocolate sprinkles on the top. Very tasty. The wife had an Arnold Palmer, well because, someone had to drive home! LOL! The food was absolutely outstanding! My son had the Bavarian feast which is a sampling of all different types of German food. His first time having German food and he loved it. My wife ordered the chicken schnitzel and she liked it a lot. I ordered the Hungarian Jäger Schnitzel and it was outstanding. Either way as others have noted the service is extremely s - l - o - w. Firstly, I want to preface this by saying the one waitress they have tending the bar, tables, and everything else is amazing. She should not be doing all that on her own, and that's a lack of planning allowing that. She's friendly, helpful, and does what she can, but she's only one person. Secondly, the food is often way too oily. This can range from the appetizers, to some of the sandwiches/burgers, and even veggies. Lastly, I used to love coming here for the salads. They were fresh, large/filling, and full of toppings. Now? A $25+ salad with some added protein comes in a regular sized salad bowl you'd have in your home which is seemingly new with the recent change in management. Definitely not worth the price. I don't say all this to disparage the restaurant or employees. I want this place to succeed because I like the location, and think it's a fun spot to frequent. Changes are needed though if they're going to continue to charge the amount of money for the lengthy waits, and quality/quantity of the food being served.

I explained we had just bought drinks--he had literally served us minutes earlier. His response: "You need to have an open tab, and we won't let you play unless you order more." At that point, the experience soured. The staff felt dismissive and unwelcoming throughout the interaction. Despite already spending money, we were denied access to what we came for. We finished our drinks--which, for some reason, didn't count--and left. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, likely my last. (This place had 5-star potential when I first arrived, but the staff interaction left miserable)

The station is located in the same parking area as Sunny's Diner and Big Al's. There's plenty of parking, unlike some places in Portland. There's play area with turf in the center of the food carts for children to play. There are plenty of seating inside and outside the patio. The bar and coffee shop are located inside. Individual Food cart reviews will be posted separately. Unfortunately, we missed some other food cart menus there like Kilos Smashburger (my kid's new go-to burger), Flavors of Joy, and more... The Vancouver Station is a great addition to East Vancouver food scene. I'm sure it'll only get better as more food carts are added.
