Soon after our arrival in town my boyfriend was having excruciating jaw pain. It must've been bad for him to want to see a doctor so I Yelped an urgent care. This place was open, close by and most important had good reviews. It was closing in 30 minutes tho, but if we didn't go, bf would be miserable all weekend to see these races. We walked in, place was empty lucky for us, no appointment. Couple of waivers filled out, insurance given and Doctor took us in. Dr. Gilliam is by far the kind of doctor I wish I had as my PCP. He's funny, caring, gentle and educational. After asking my bf some questions and a little exam, it was concluded he had a little infection that needed antibiotics. Dr. Gilliam took care of ALL of it, sent the scripts to Safeway right next door (we needed to get snacks anyway) filled out the claim and sent it to insurance. I mentioned I was a medical coder. He does all of his own coding using software. But if Dr. Gilliam ever wants to hire a certified outpatient coder/biller with Urgent Care experience, we could always use an excuse to relocate to Monterey (hint hint) We were treated like humans, even laughed a little bit at some funny stories. Warm, kind Doctor. I hope we'd never have to be patients again but if we're in Monterey and need an Urgent Care, we're going here. He's the way all Doctors should be.

I carried her in, although on the phone they asked if I needed a gurney, which I didn't, but has kindly offered. The second they saw me and my pup, everyone stopped what they were doing to help. They could clearly see between my face, and her, that this was serious. Although our sweetie passed, they did everything they could, and kept me in the loop the entire time. The physician gave us great peace by telling us what had occurred, there was nothing we could have done, and even if we'd gotten her there earlier they probability to survival was low. In an extraordinarily difficult time they give my wife and I peace knowing we'd done what we could and it wasn't our fault. I had a mentor tell me, "why and what if are what keep you up at night." They did everything they could to shut down those difficult thoughts. While this is a sad outcome, I can't think every person who helped me and our pup last night do what they could. I'll never forget how you helped me through one of the most difficult processes of my life and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I brought my French Bulldog to this emergency veterinary hospital on August 23, 2026, around 4 PM…read morebecause the entire left side of his face was severely swollen. We specifically told multiple staff members, including the doctor, that we suspected the swelling could be related to an ear infection. My dog was taken to the back, and despite being there for approximately six hours, I was never allowed to see him during the visit. We were told that they needed to discuss payment before examining him. We ultimately paid $243 for the initial "exam," $357.25 for blood work, plus medication fees, for a total of $761.21. After getting home, I checked his ear myself and noticed a significant amount of wax. I called the hospital to confirm whether his ears had been examined. Emily put me on hold to ask and then told me that they had not checked his ears. When I asked why, considering we had specifically raised the possibility of an ear infection and his face was swollen extremely close to his ear, I was told that they do not check ears unless there is a specific reason to. I find that extremely concerning. We specifically gave them a possible explanation for his symptoms, and his swelling was located directly next to his ear. I expected that to at least warrant an ear examination, especially after paying hundreds of dollars for an exam. I then asked to speak with the doctor or a manager. I was told there was only a shift lead. When I asked to speak with the shift lead, I was told she was busy and that the doctor was in the middle of a "procedure." I simply asked for the shift lead's name, and Emily told me I did not need to be given that information and then hung up on me. I understand that emergency veterinary care can be expensive, and I am willing to pay for appropriate care for my dog. What I cannot accept is paying $761.21 and later learning that something as basic as checking his ears was not done--even though we specifically raised an ear infection as a possible cause of his facial swelling. The lack of communication, compassion, transparency, and professionalism throughout this experience was extremely disappointing. I brought my dog here because I trusted this facility to properly evaluate him when he was clearly unwell. Instead, I left feeling like my concerns were dismissed and that the focus was more on payment than making sure my dog received a thorough examination. If you are considering bringing your pet here in an emergency, I strongly recommend asking exactly what will be examined and what is included in the "exam" before agreeing to treatment or charges. My experience left me deeply disappointed and concerned about the level of care my dog received. I don't need a generic response with " we apologize for your experience ,please feel free to contact us" what you need to do is train Emily for some customer service and the other lady who rolled her eyes when I was speaking to them during my visit.

Over the years we have had mixed issues with this pharmacy. But today was a big day. First of all…read moremy husband went in to get his monthly prescription refilled. He started at the pickup desk who told him there were no prescriptions to pick up. So they sent him over to the "consult" counter where a young Asian woman in a white jacket was working. She was not very interested in doing more than the absolute least amount. Told him - no, no prescriptions. And in fact told him there were no prescriptions with any refills. When questioned she told him that the prescription must have been sent to a different store - excuse me??? No, it wasn't. So, she then basically told him to take it up with his doctor. When he got in the car I said, nope, this isnt right. And so we went back in. Started with the "new and improved" check in on the monitor and that person said, no, no prescriptions. And sent us over to stand in line at the Drop Off Counter where Isaiah was working. He gave a little more information, and said that actually the insurance company refused to refill it because it was "too early". Again he asked if it could ave been picked up somewhere else because the pickup date was over 2 weeks away. BUT instead of just sending us away, he stepped away and spoke with Tysin. Tysin came over and found basically the same information Isaiah had given us. But he instructed Isaiah to call the insurance company and ask where and when the prescription had been refilled since we last picked it up at the end of July. And to ask them that since it had not been refilled at this store, could the reverse the refusal and allow them to dispense it. We went to sit down while Isaiah was on the phone with the automated menu......Not even 10 minutes later he called us back, and said that the insurance company admitted it must have been a "glitch in their system" and that they reversed the refusal. And so CVS was able to dispense the refill just a few minutes later. The young Asian woman needs some retraining in customer service, and Isaiah and Tysin should be the ones to show her how it is done! Thank you, Isaiah and Tysin. You showed what customer service really means.

The photo area is always unmanned-- I end up standing there for several minutes before having to track someone down. Customer service is hit or miss, and the checkout lanes remain crowded together with little regard for spacing. My most recent experience was especially frustrating. I stopped in quickly on my way to an event to purchase deodorant, only to find that the barcode wouldn't scan. A passing employee confirmed there was no price in the system at all. After already waiting in line several minutes, this was the final straw-- I left without making a purchase. For such a common item not to even appear in inventory shows a lack of organization and attention to detail. This store gives the impression of being poorly managed and not customer-focused.

The hospital actually referred us. He arrived home Friday afternoon and Saturday morning our nurse, Amy, telephoned and scheduled a morning visit. Amy arrived on time, conducted a thorough interview with my husband, assessed his health/vitals and monitored his incision. The following Monday our Physical Therapist, Dominic, called to schedule his first visit with us. He arrived on time, also conducted a thorough verbal interview, checked my husbands wound and started some gentle physical therapy. From there Dominic scheduled two visits per week, always arrived on time, conducted a complete assessment of my husband and gradually increased physical therapy. Dominic always left my husband with "homework" so to speak, gentle exercises for him to do daily between visits to increase strength and stamina. Within three weeks my husband was walking without a walker or cane, was stable on his legs and could walk around the block. Dominic made his final visit this morning as my husband was released to outpatient physical therapy and was also released to drive. We were both very impressed with Amy and especially Dominic. He is very easy to talk to, very forthcoming with information and expectations, and answered all our questions thoroughly. We both feel very informed and ready for the next steps in recovery. I highly recommend Choice Home Health Care for your in home therapy needs and I highly recommend Dominic for home physical therapy treatments. We are both very impressed and very happy with the care that we received.
