Went to Dr.Clark for heart check out, he is very experienced and I felt he was capable. But the second visit, he bought a new Physican Assistant into the room. No problem , but his demeanor seemed to change with me. He was short, and actually I felt confused. No real communication problem was happening, that he didn't want to happen. Is think I feel like he personally didn't like me. It was so strange! I was asking him questions, and apparently he thought I was changing the subject a tad, which I wasn't aware of. This irritated him, and he left the room saying that someone else would have better luck talking to me? What? Feel confused and angry. But I do think he knows his stuff very well as a doctor. I would feel totally secure with him treating me. I just wish he hasn't gotten upset at me for nothing. read more

I've been seeing Dr Clark for over 10 years and I've definitely noticed that he's gotten more irritable, defensive and refuses to tailor patient education that is constructive and inclusive, That actually involves you with your cardiac care to help educate you so you can evolve and become healthier. He fat shames people by telling his overweight patients that they need to cut their portions in half on many occasions he's told me that exercise doesn't help you to lose weight. We all know that diet to 80% of it and he thinks that everybody who is heavy just sitting there at the Buffet, eating triple portions. Those comments comes off very condescending to his patients, that his staff is even very uncomfortable when he talks to his patients. He has been using the same, very simplistic, elementary cardiac education speech for the last several decades. The last five years, the doctor doesn't come into the exam room, you have to go into his office,while he sits in his chair because he is not physically fit anymore, and not strong enough to stand for long periods of time, I wish somebody would talk to him about retiring because it's become unprofessional and an uncomfortable situation. Please consider in giving a review what type of person you are reviewing. Yes, Dr. Clark is "old," but that gives him many more clinical years of listening to and reviewing your particular heart. I'm sorry other reviewer's mentioned his age and the decor in his waiting rooms - without thinking about his dedication to medicine and helping his patients. For God's sake, you're not hiring a personal trainer or a nail salon - this is a man with decades of with the highest level of experience and credentials. Among other things, before he retired from the San Jose area, he was the head of cardiology at Stanford University! Most of us have no idea what is required to attain this level of expertise. Yes, I have had to wait each time I have been to see him. But what I noticed is that his waiting room is full of people of color and different socia/economic means - I am absolutely certain that he isn't working because he needs the money! He is working because it is his calling. He takes the necessary time with each patient, and educates us according to our questions and our ability to understand. I am very embarrassed for the people who don't understand who they have giving them medical care. read more

The bad reviews are sad. Really decor, get over yourselves. The office staff and nurses are kind and helpful. I waited an appropriate 30 min or so, as a new patient, half due to the fact that I came early to fill out forms, because I am a considerate person. Don't be late, better yet show up early, your not the only one with an illness, everyone is there with some suspected heart issue. Dr. Clark is kind, informative and totally in touch with reality. He ordered tests and explained them. He asked me questions and, I feel as if I received warm expert care. Thank you Dr. Clark. Ps. As I'm sitting in the waiting room right now, the front desk employees will not stop talking about their own personal matters as well as information of other patients. One of the receptionists hung up the phone after talking with a woman about her mother and then stated to another employee quite loudly that "that woman can talk"...clearly taking her concern and questions about her mother not seriously and with no respect. I look over and they start whispering about these topics as well. I found this atmosphere extremely unprofessional and rude to their patients whose lives and medical information should be private. This office and their rude staff made me extremely uncomfortable and now I feel as though they are exposing my families medical information as well. read more

I saw Dr David Clark for an EKG and consultation, and I am scheduled to return in a week or so for a stress test. I found Dr Clark very pleasant and he explained my EKG results patiently so that I could understand them. The office staff was also friendly, concerned and accommodating in schedueling my return visit. I felt like I was getting skilled care and I was happy with my experience there. read more

I was referred to Dr. Clark to ensure that my heartburn problem wasn't actually a heart problem. I found Dr. Clark to be competent, mature, experienced, caring and thorough. He left no stone unturned in diagnosing my condition. His staff was courteous, professional, and friendly. Although my problem proved to be simple heartburn, I would not hesitate to consult Dr. Clark again, should the need arise. read more

Unfortunately, Dr. Clark has changed. As a senior myself, I'm hesitant to attribute poor care to potential decline in an elderly practitioner, but in this case, that's what I suspect. Over time, Dr. Clark has seemed increasingly impatient and closed-minded; worse, on a recent visit, several important mistakes were made, including that he had apparently not looked at my chart before meeting with me and completely misremembered his previous recommendations in my case. He became irritated when I corrected him and actually seemed hostile. I honestly have never experienced anything like this with a doctor before, and since I've dealt with him over a period of time and previously noticed his increasing testiness, I no longer feel confidence in his care, judgment, or follow-through and will not be returning. read more

It's been 6 weeks since my visit and I juat received an email stating to "access and pay my bill online". However, it won't let me access the bill. Since I got the email statement, I am unable to get anyone to answer phone or call me back. I have called numerous times and left messages. I also had my insurance company call and they could not get through. I understand doctor's offices are busy, however, this is difficult when you can't get answers. read more

Dr. Clark is one of the premiere cardiologists anywhere, and we are very lucky to have him in the Monterey area. Not only does he provide excellent care in Monterey, he volunteers 2 days a week in King City, a rural area that would not have access to to top cardiology care were it not for Dr Clark. My visits have always been a good experience, very little waiting, despite the fact that Dr Clark spends a lot of time with each patient. Dr. Clark and his wife are very kind, generous and contribute significantly to he local community. I highly recommend everything and everyone in the office. its a Bright atmosphere, and a warm, friendly place, with excellent medical care. read more
