Then called a couple of days later to say they don't have any answers from the first tests but need more blood and more money to run more tests. Another $300 later and still no answers. I've avoided writing a review about this place for several reasons, but after recent correspondence with them, I decided it's my duty as a pet owner to let people know how poor their practices are. Back in June, my 13yo Siamese with no prior health issues was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and put on a medication. I began administering the medicine to him as directed, and after about a month, it was time to bring him in to recheck his thyroid levels. Before I had a chance to bring him in, he began showing signs of illness (vomiting, struggling to defecate, and was very lethargic). I knew that these symptoms were uncharacteristic for him, and when I brought him in and suggested that the medication was giving him a reaction, i was gaslit by the doctor. The doctor who had seen us that day indicated that he was a "vet for over a year and a half" and "has never seen those side effects from that medicine" (despite it being the most common side effects albeit it per chat gpt), and suggested that the habits were because i was cleaning his litter every other day as opposed to daily, as he does with his cats. Frustrated (and knowing my baby for 14yrs) i suggested that the medicine was the only thing that had changed and the correlation seemed too much of a coincidence for it to NOT be that. Long story short, after testing it was confirmed my cat was having a toxic reaction to the medicine and his liver enzymes had elevated to dangerous levels. This was back in June. I began working with a holistic vet who implemented a new treatment plan, eliminating the processed food recommendation "prescription" diet recommended by vca, and she suggested that i bring him back to vca to get baseline levels of his thyroid, liver, and kidney values to monitor how his new treatment plan was going. She also recommended that I decline the rabies vaccine at this time, given introduction of an additional variable could interfere with monitoring his progress on the holistic plan. When i brought my cat back in about a month ago, i was seen by another doctor (who ill decline to name here) and explained the situation to him. After being essentially admonished for declining the rabies vaccine for my indoor cat, he informed me of a process where my cat would need to be beheaded for testing if he bit someone. Mind you, this same doctor over a year ago agreed that the rabies vaccine isn't really necessary for indoor cats, but only required under state law. After the blood testing on that day, which obviously still showed that my cat has hyperthyroidism, the doctor suggested via email that i increase his thyroid medication dose almost three fold (yes, the one that almost killed him months prior). I kindly informed the doctor via email that i would not be doing that, given the toxic reaction he had to the small dose. He did not reply, apologize for his misunderstanding, or anything. This would've went a long way to me. About a month went by and I received a call from vca informing me that the doctor requested that i bring my cat in again to recheck the value given he wanted to see the results based on the medication increase he recommended. I was literally appalled that no note had been made to his file originally back in June about his toxic reaction, or even after the email after his follow up blood test (to ensure his liver enzymes went back down after the toxic episode) where i had to remind him that this medication was toxic to him. Imagine if this were a human patient or i just blindly followed this guys recommendation?! The staff on the phone was apologetic and said that she would speak with him. Long story short--this place is big pharma disguised as a vet facility. Your pets are just numbers to them, and they're not interested in treating causes, only pushing medications and processed food "prescription" diets for symptoms. If you care about your furry family member, steer clear from this place. Their egos are dangerous, and the lack of accountability is infuriating. I'll be withdrawing all three of my cats from this practice, and continuing with other providers. Unfortunately i can't give zero stars, so I'll toss them one. read more

I was a long time client there, from the time Dr Allen Tucker opened it, in the 70's ,until just a few yrs ago. When I lost my dog, due to health issues, I remained with them. The staff was courteous, and helpful, and I got to know Judy, one of the technicians, and she was great with all my pets I had through the years. From Dr Tucker, Barabara Heald , Dr Rooney , and finally Dr Sullivan, you couldn't ask for a better staff of drs. There are others, but of course, but I never had the privilege of having them. I've never written a one star review before, but this is more than justified. I've taken my dog to this vet for many years and have used their care plan. I've always been very pleased with them until this week when my dog got sick with some serious symptoms. When I called for an appointment, I was told that there were no appointments available for over two weeks. My dog was sick , and there was no one who would see her. I was appalled. Luckily, I called another veterinary hospital that gave me an appointment the same day. I would expect that Daniel Webster would have some plan in place to accommodate emergencies. I had paid for the care plan, but I was told I could take her to an emergency vet who would have no knowledge of her medical history and we would have had to pay an exorbitant price. To say I am very disappointed in Daniel Webster Animal Hospital is an understatement. It turns out that my dog has a serious kidney infection and her creatinine level was very low. This explains all of her symptoms, and we were able to start her on medication right away instead of two weeks from now thanks to her new vet. It is so wonderful to see her tail wag again and see her spark coming back. read more

Fantastic experience. Left Bedford Veterinary Medical Center due to how cold and unfriendly they are in addition to never being able to get call backs on labs or getting in for needed appointments. Had the best experience with VCA today. McKayla was amazing. The front desk is friendly. Dr. Biggemann took his time with my dogs. He answered all of my questions and spoke to me with such respect and compassion. I immediately felt my dogs were in great hands. My little one needs surgery and I have no doubt it will go well. Been coming here for a few years and can't say enough good things about them! I booked an appointment for our female cat a week out for tummy issues. I was told to call back later in the week to see if they could get her in sooner for any cancellations. Called back a few days later and they had no cancellations. I said no problem, just a worried cat mom. Receptionist said she would call me back if there were any cancellations. My luck, there was a cancellation minutes later, got a call, and said at 1pm to come in for 2pm. We saw Dr. Dutton and she gave me different options. She was patient with me when I called my boyfriend and explained everything in detail and I never felt rushed or pushed in a certain direction. She is so calm and nice and very in tune to my concerns. Thank you VCA and Dr. Dutton! Our cat already feels better and held her new food down! read more

I visited Daniel Webster VCA yesterday with my dog as we are new to the area and looking for a long term vet for his care. Let me just say: after the experiences we had at VCA yesterday, we will not be returning back. 1. The night before our appointment, I get a call saying the vet wanted my dog dosed with about 5x the amount of anxiety medication that he normally takes for a vet. This "recommendation" was completely out of line based on my dogs weight. Already not a great start and we weren't even at the appointment yet 2. I arrived at the building the next day and I texted the curbside number at right at 12:00 for our appointment. I did not get a reply back until 12:15 (which I did not have a problem with as I know business are short staffed right now). What I did have a problem with was when the tech called me to go over information and what needed to get done in the appointment and told me "well, since we're already 20 minutes into your appointment we'll have to see what we have time to get done." - Basically telling me that they're going to be rushing through this appointment and they are blaming me. 3. Also on this call, you would think that as a new customer, she would go over things like, how long have I had him, what food does he eat, how much food does he eat, how much exercise does he get. There was none of that. All she told me was the vaccinations he was due for, and "hopefully they would have enough time to get them done". 4. After speaking with the vet during the appointment, she told me that she was only able to get 1 shot done and I would need to reschedule to get the other vaccines done. Ideally, she would want him back in 2 weeks but due to their scheduling I probably wouldn't be able to get in for another month or more. 6. With my dog back in the car after an incomplete visit, I received a text from their automated site for my payment. I had a $20 off coupon for my first visit so, before I paid I called reception inside to let them know of this and hopefully get it taken off of my total. After 3 tries of calling and getting no one, I finally got through on my 4th call, I told the woman about the coupon and after being placed on hold she said "since we already totaled the amount for this visit, we cant take off the $20, but I can give you a credit for your next visit here". With this information, I told her that there would be no need for a credit because I would not be returning back with my dog. I had her print out all of his medical records that I had sent over from the previous vet (which it was obvious that the tech and vet never looked over), as well as the detailed invoice of what was done in the appointment so that I can bring it to my next vet that I find in the area. I am so disappointed with the care that was given and I know a few customers that have been going there for a long time with their dogs. After I told them about this experience yesterday, they also told me that they would be moving their vet as well. read more

My dog Matti tore both rear acl (ccl). Dr. Rosa recommended tplo surgery. Dr. Rosa is the absolute best. He brought my dog Matti back to her puppy phase. It is a long, painful process, many ups and downs (which is a given for this type of surgery). Dr. Rosa was so professional and knowledgeable. He takes the time to research best practices, and walked me through the whole process. You will not find anyone better in New England. Their prices are very fair and they were able to work with me many times to accommodate. This has been a long journey- I hope no one has to experience this, but if your dog requires TPLO for torn ccl, you will not find ANYONE better than Dr. Rosa. I feel like since the change to VCA the service has been rocky here- I have since lost my two seniors, one at home and one at the hospital. I wasn't thrilled with either interaction with Daniel Webster Animal Hospital- this is the time when I expect a place to shine, and they just didn't for me. I was contacted promptly by Dr. Heald and she genuinely listened to my concerns and I was open to returning there and just chalking these up to bad experiences that were rare. However with the recent news of Dr. Heald's departure I don't think I have a reason to give them another chance. I hope that once the transition to VCA settles down there are able to return to their extremely high level of service I was familiar with before. read more

I just had a horrible visit with my dog. I have had Dogs all my life and never have a had anyone ever treat my dog the way my Dog was treated tonight. I had the worst end of life experience in my life yesterday. I was a customer of 20 years, bills always paid promptly. While waiting outside for the tech to come get my friend, I got a text informing me of how I could pay my bill. I texted that he wasn't even dead yet. The tech asked me the same questions I was asked just a couple hours earlier when I made this apt. Shortly after 7am today, less than 21 hrs after his final breath, I got another "courtesy reminder" how to pay my bill. This is devastating. His need for end of life services came so very quickly that I wasn't near as ready as I had been with my others. The procedure was done with compassion. The vets are very good but the front desk is icy cold. I am in no hurry to pay my bill. I am in a hurry to find a new clinic. read more

This is my primary Vet for my cat. They handle him with care, and there are never long wait times once I arrive. When I took my cat to an overnight emergency vet, VCA was able to give him a follow up appointment on the exact day I needed for a check up. I recommend VCA for primary veterinarian needs. Their app works perfectly, I receive check up reminders and follow up phone calls after my cat's visits. During COVID when we had to wait outside in our cars during the appointment, I knew my cat was in good hands inside. Everyone is always very pleasant to deal with. read more

We saw Dr. Rosa when my dog of 10 years needed his spleen removed because he has a large mass. Dr. Rosa was amazing. He sat me down and went over everything I needed to know and what to expect. When my dog had problems, like scratching off some staples, Dr. Rosa responded right away and told us what to do. He made himself available for an office visit the same day to take a look at my good boy. He gave me a phone number to text him anytime with questions, concerns, and I could even show him pictures of things I was worried about. He always responded and it gave me so much peace of mind. He even responded to me on a Saturday too, it was so nice. Unfortunately my dog was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Rosa went through all of our options. He was kind enough to go through everything with me two different times because I was too sad to retain the information the first time. He is so kind and caring. He is also very professional and knowledgeable. He went over recent studies about what the best treatment options were for my dog. He even reached out to and discussed my dogs case with a dog oncologist. I didn't have to stress about doing any of it myself. Even though we are extremely sad with my dog's diagnosis we are happy that everything was done in the best interest of my good boy and that we are in good hands with Dr. Rosa. If my other dog ever needed surgery I wouldn't hesitate for one minute to go with Dr. Rosa again. Our day to day veterinarian is Dr. Rydstrom. She is so great. She knows our two dogs really well. Our new dog was only partially treated for heartworms before we adopted him she looked through all the literature to see how to proceed and make sure he was okay. She is very knowledgeable and very friendly. I gave her a vague symptom for my other dog and she found out what was causing him to not feel well. She's did a very thorough assessment of my good boy and found the tumor on his spleen. She went over all of our options and took care of all the scheduling and everything to make sure my dog got in for surgery with Dr. Rosa ASAP. My dogs love her and so do I! You can tell Dr. Rydstrom cares so much for animals and loves her job. The vet techs and secretaries are also super nice and shower my doggies with treats and pets every time they visit. I am absolutely FURIOUS with Daniel Webster Animal Hospital. This will be the last time I ever go there. First of all, when I made the appointment, I was told drop off was 7:00-7:45, and she would be done around 1-1:30pm (I specifically asked for work reasons). When I dropped her off, the doctor said she would be ready between 4:30-5pm. I asked why so late... The response was they decided to put another dog before her. So they were going to leave her in a crate for an extra four hours before her procedure. What!? Umm, no. If someone had told me, I would have booked her for a different day. As a bonded pair, it was already going to be difficult to separate them, and this was going to be the longest they had ever been apart since meeting when Cupcake was 8 weeks old. When I spoke to the owner, they did end up fixing it (not before some initial attitude from the front desk on how she doesn't handle complaints, she just books appointments). Ok, fine. When I pick up Cupcake, they tell me it was $780... Which is well over the quote of $540-710 they had given me. This quote covered 1-2 extractions, and Cupcake had two minor ones. So, how was this so high? But fine... Ok. I get her out to my car, and as she got in, I noticed that she is literally COVERED in diarrhea. Her paws, her little bum, her stomach, her side, even. Ok, NOW I'M RIPPED. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Cupcake has had it and just wants to go home, so I leave them in the car, running with the AC on and go back inside quickly. I tell the front desk person when happened and then leave. I will never ever go back there again. When they asked me before I left Cupcake for the procedure, they asked me if I wanted to tell them anything else about Cupcake. I told the Doctor to please treat her well, because she is the best, sweetest, most amazing dog I've ever met. Cupcake deserved to be treated better than she was treated today. Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Rosa are awesome. You can tell that they really love animals and they call to follow up after appointments to see how things are going. They both have an excellent way of explaining medical and behavioral information in terms that are easy to understand. When we were trying to figure out why our dog Martin was having digestive issues, Dr. Rosa spent a great deal of time with me on the phone and in the office, and I really appreciated his help. Our other shepherd, who is a rescue and not usually a huge fan of going to the vet, has also adjusted really, really well. We don't have to muzzle him when he gets a check-up or vaccinations, and he doesn't seem as stressed out as he has at other veterinary offices. I've found that the front office has always been very helpful - faxing proof of vaccinations when necessary and squeezing us in for last-minute appointments if something is wrong. Their hours of operation are convenient, so it's possible to grab prescriptions on the way home from work or on a Saturday. The hospital itself is also quite impressive. It feels like walking into a regular doctor's office - everything is well decorated and clean and the interview rooms feel private. On Saturdays they do tours of their operating room facilities, which really helped to put my mind at ease that I had chosen the right place when I had my older dog put under anesthesia and was nervous. They called to invite me to the tour the week before the procedure was scheduled. One of the technicians took the time to explain a lot about the procedures that they do and how some of the equipment works. My dogs are an important part of my life, and I'm thankful that I've found a trustworthy and talented group of people at Daniel Webster Animal Hospital to help keep them healthy. read more

I recommend this practice to everyone. Dr Tucker is one of the best in the field, especially with surgery. I also recommend Drs Heald, Peterson and Rooney and Jenkins. I have been coming here for 22 years. There are a few newer drs that i do not care for that seem to lack experience beyond the basic annual shots/checkups, so i simply have it noted on file so i am not put with them when i call for an appt. Exceptional care for your pet. Dr Tucker please dont ever retire! They are more expensive though in comparison to other vets. Many people seem to think that way. One of our yorkies had an abscessed tooth which had broken through the jaw bone. Dr. Tucker was able to wire the jaw together and the dog is doing fantastic. They also give senior citizen discounts. Based on Yelp and other internet-sourced reviews, I was expecting at the very least a decent experience at DWAH. My cat had developed a skin lesion, and I made a last minute appointment to have him seen for the lesion and for a more general new-vet-check-up. The desk staff were pleasant and helpful, as was the vet technician. However, the Veterinarian (Dr. Huelle) was terrible. He spent 2-3 minutes in the examination room, barely looked at the cat, passed the lesion off as 'nothing', and the exam was over. This was my cat's first visit to DWAH, and the Vet didn't take his temp, didn't examine his teeth, didn't check for any internal issues, and, again, didn't seriously examine the issue that precipitated the appointment. Being my first vet visit in a few years, I thought this was odd, and not ok, but maybe normal. So before writing this review I scheduled a visit at another local animal hospital, and even though they worked my cat's appointment in last minute, that Vet spent a solid 20 minutes with my cat, performed a full general examination, and took several samples of fur and skin from the area with the sore to examine under the microscope. She diagnosed it as a probable allergic reaction, prescribed appropriate medicine, and asked to be called back with an update even if the condition improved. Basically, a model experience. So while I had the one bad experience with DWAH, the most important part of that experience was so flawed, particularly in relation to other vet care available in greater Manchester, that I would strongly recommend that you not even bother. read more

Dr. Dutton is amazing and the staff at VCA are so friendly. Lily loved Paige, who took good care of her for her first exam! I purchased the care plan through them and I would absolutely recommend it. I love having the ability to go whenever I have a concern and know that it's already paid for. The facility itself is really nice and very clean! This is the most professional, clean and trustworthy vet I have ever been to. We have three dogs and I wouldn't bring them anywhere else. We mainly deal with Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Rosa but wouldn't hesitate with anyone at the hospital. I had a pretty traumatic experience at another vet, so I wanted to see someone who knows their stuff, and won't try charging me for things that are not necessary. That landed me here, and seeing Dr. Tucker. Walking in, my first impression was, "Did we just walk into a real hospital?" because the front desk looks like more of a nurses' station than a vet's office. I checked in, waited a few minutes and was put into a room where the vet tech met me almost immediately. I didn't need to rehash much of what was going on, because most of it was in his charts already. My friend and I waited a few more minutes, and in came Dr. Tucker. He was focused without being cold, and his ability to work with my cat Jeeves was nothing short of magic. Though still freaked out, obviously, Jeeves was a lot calmer by the end of the exam than he ever was at any other vet visit. He didn't even pee in his crate! (OK. Maybe TMI. But it's a thing.) He explained the how and whys of what he noticed, and addressed my concerns thoroughly. Every question I had was met with extensive experience and knowledge, and all my options were laid out for me. I left there with confidence that my little fur-baby was getting taken care of by someone who cared, knew exactly what they were talking about, and not someone trying to make a buck off of guilt-ridden, panicked pet owners. The friend I was with me for the visit is switching his cat's care over to Daniel Webster Animal Hospital, and convinced his roommate to do the same. He said to me, "... Even if I don't get in to see Dr. Tucker, his extensive knowledge and competency as a veterinarian reflects upon Daniel Webster as a whole, and it is most certainly somewhere I want to take my cats to get seen." read more

I have been taking my cat to DWAH for many years now. I got a rabbit who recently had her first visit. I am always so impressed with how caring the staff & vets are. Dr. Petersen usually sees my cat while Dr. Bright sees my rabbit. They both take very good care of my animals. My cat gets combative when we take her outside the house yet they are very patient & gentle with her. The doctors & staff take the time to understand the reason for the visit and help explain things clearly to me. They also do a great job educating me on how to trim their claws, give medicine when needed, and always seem happy to answer questions I have over the phone. While the prices here are higher than at other vets I've seen, they are reasonable for the quality staff they have. I highly recommend using DWAH. read more

I would recommend Dr. Jenkins (she is awesome!) but I DO NOT recommend Dr. Bright. She was so nasty to me and my dog when I brought my dog in for a visit. I am a previous custom of Daniel Webster Animal. My boy Sawyer (a beautiful 6 year old Schnoodle, schnauzer/poodle mix) was in for a routine exam. It was noted that he had a bad tooth and needed his teeth cleaned. I have always been afraid of having a pet under anesthesia. I was assured everything would be ok and blood work would be done to make sure he would be ok. The procedure went fine. In recovery, he was placed on some type of an electrical warming pad, sounds comforting right? This pad had exposed wires which severely burned my best friend while he was out cold. The months to follow were excruciating for both of us. Heartbreaking to see the sweetest, happiest pet, bare his teeth from sheer pain that he did not understand. It has been a very long road for his healing process. My dog needlessly suffered from this hospitals neglect. The trust is gone. Never again....... read more

Terrible experience with Daniel Webster Animal Hospital. Brought my calico cat Spitfire in for a first-time visit. Was asked, could I please come back in about an hour -- they just gave a dog a shot that gave it a fever and respiratory issues. After our visit, went home and got a call from DW Animal Hospital -- could I come right back? Turns out they'd given my cat a DOG distemper shot. I brought my cat back the next day (Spitfire is flipping out at this point) only to be told no, they shouldn't have told me to come right back; it might be harmful to Spitty if she has the shot so soon after the last one. Can I please come back in a week? Then a Dr. Tucker (apparently one of the owners) came out to apologize. At one point he shrugs his shoulders and says "I feel like I should be giving you gas money or something", but doesn't actually give me any refund. When I get home, there's a message from Dr. Tucker saying that he wants to talk more about what happened, and that he'll call us on Monday. I get home from work on Monday; no calls -- and they have our home & cell phone numbers. I call DW Animal Hospital to let them know we're dropping them and why. I'm told that they'll pass my comments on to Dr. Tucker, who finally leaves a message at 9pm stating that I need to call him to arrange Spitfire's follow up shot. I am very disappointed with this facility and will not trust them with the care of my pets. read more
