The emergency vet is what happens when the day breaks open. This was my third visit to an emergency vet. I have a small frame of reference. It is not a frame of reference anyone should want. Newburgh was the best of the three, and not by a little. The staff were calm without being clinical, caring, attentive. They moved like people who understood that the dog on the table was, to me at that moment, the whole point of everything. I am grateful they were open. I am grateful they were good. I hope I never see them again, in those circumstances anyway.

Now, they have changed their story to claim they cannot give an estimate because they can't trust another vet's exam. This is a deflection. I never asked for a guaranteed, binding final price; I asked for a standard baseline estimate range for a Grade 2 dental, which is a routine administrative request. More importantly, their revised response still completely ignores the core safety issue: the practice manager explicitly told me she "cannot authorize" me to speak to a veterinarian regarding my dogs' general care. Changing your public response overnight doesn't change the fact that you are actively blocking a paying client with four animals on active plans from speaking to a doctor. I have four dogs on payment plans at this clinic, but the customer service from the practice manager has been an ongoing issue and barrier to their care. Today, she refused to provide a standard price range/estimate for a Grade 2 dental procedure. More alarmingly, when I asked to speak directly with a veterinarian regarding my dogs' general care, the practice manager told me, "I cannot authorize that." A practice manager should handle business operations, not act as a medical gatekeeper blocking a paying client from discussing health concerns with a doctor. While the medical staff might be good, the management makes advocating for my pets' health incredibly difficult. I expect the clinic owner or corporate management to contact me to resolve this.

She takes her time with our dog and is quick to refer out if she has concerns or feels the issue needs specialty care. I really appreciate that about her. The Vet Techs are great (Sarah) and Jeanne, at the front desk is great as well. I feel like they are part of my extended family. All my dogs, over the years, have been comfortable when going there, and my current dog, Jenna, always wants to follow them in the back. I keep saying she wants a job there. Beyond that she really listened and personally offered to assist me in any way that she could. Turns out, I needed to take my other pup in for an ear infection. The practice manager helped to set me up with a doctor that fit my schedule. Dr. F. was beyond fantastic. She was a gentle and kind vet that remembered my dude from his very first visit. Her demeanor and bed side manner were amazing. I look forward to working with her in the future with my dogs.

The other day I…read moresent my younger brother there because it is much closer to us, and since he is new to the area, I didn't want him driving the longer distance to our regular vet. My mistake... After seeing the bill for services, which I felt was excessive in price and scope, I drove to the office where, as I was explaining my dissatisfaction to the receptionist/assistant, another customer began to chime in with, at first just her disagreement with what I was presenting, then later a verbal assault on me. I asked the lady to please refrain, I asked the receptionist/assistant to please have the other customer sit down since this wasn't her animal, but those requests were to no avail. It was obvious that the other customer likes BAH and that's all fine and dandy, but I prefer to discuss my issues with the staff, not the customers. The receptionist/assistant did nothing to stop this woman from using profanity and other derogatory language towards me. I would have liked nothing more than to give it back, but when you are the man in a situation like that, you will always be the bad guy. So I waited as the receptionist finally went and got the office manager, who I believe as another reviewer mentioned, is the doctor's wife. When she arrived she escorted me and my brother to another room where we discussed the billing questions and the front desk issue. In the end, the bill was credited for medications, etc. that I believe I can find elsewhere much less expensive. As I have two other dogs, I know that I have bought similar medications for less. Maybe not the exact brand so I cannot say that any particular brand they may not be cheaper and I will leave it at that. As for the front office issue I was given their apologies but to me the damage is done. I will never again set foot in that office and I would recommend to anyone who is considering using this facility to make sure you have looked at all others in the area before making your decision. Save yourself some grief. I wish I had stuck with my initial assessment and saved some grief for both myself and my brother. Edit 7/26/2013: Got contacted tonight by a new Yelp member who took an unusual amount of concern with my review. I can only guess, but that guess is that she is somehow associated with the animal hospital. Maybe, maybe not. I have heard from owners and managers in response to my review before but this was a bit over the top. They accused me on not being able to afford the care at BAH. Upon arrival a young woman comes out and states, "the vet did not show up today".... and then proceeded to add that "the vet in the Monroe location didnt show up that day either." So that was my first try, took day off of work, drove an hour to the facility, vet doesn't show up for work, customers get screwed, oh well. After leaving I found the customer service phone number in their website, attempted to call but guess what!? NO ANSWER AT ALL....10 MINUTES I WAITED FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER. So I learned on that day that this company has veterinarians that don't show up when they feel like it, a customer service department that DOESNT ANSWER the phone, and no accountability to the community. The ultimate "too good to be true" company in terms of pet care. Continuing on for the next few weeks I regularly called the location AS WELL AS the customer service phone number AND NOT ONE TIME IN 3 WEEKS DID ANYONE ANSWER! NOT ONCE, NO ONE, 0. And now to today and the latest round of comedy from this derelict organization. I am off of work tomorrow and planned on making a final attempt to bring my cat to their office to be vaccinated, but the best laid plans of mice and men! I checked their website to make sure they are open today and then I place the call, guess what!? Its 10:37am, hours state 10am-7pm...the answering machine picks up, the location is closed! Hilarious. The left hand doesnt speak to right at vetIQ that's for sure. Then I proceeded to attempt calling customer service again, guess what, NO ANSWER AFTER 5 MINUTES OF WAITING. Nothing at all, not even thank you for calling well be right with you...I mean absolutely nothing. So finally I decided to complain about the difficulty I am having through a "contact us" form submitted through their website. I GOT A RESPONSE TO THE CONTACT FORM! Customer service agent claims its also notmal for vets to just not show up. Agent also said that even though the website says they are open they are actually closed because THE VET DIDNT SHOW UP TODAY AND MOST LIKELY WONT SHOW UP TOMORROW EITHER! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE THIS PLACE IS!!! RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND EMPLOY THE SERVICES OF A REAL VET THAT CARES ABOUT THE PETS IN THEIR COMMUNITY, THIS COMPANY SHOULD SHUT ITS DOORS FOR GOOD.
