Not sure what all the bad reviews are about but personally I have went here a few times for the chiropractor and my back is starting to feel better after getting rear ended. My doctor is Nathaniel Ju, he's very quick, but gets the job done. I've only went twice so far so let's see how things are later on. Also I went here for my optometry appointment with Jennifer and my visit with her went well too, it's just hard to get a sooner appointment at a good time which kind of sucks. I've been coming to vista community clinic since I was a teenager I am now 28, and have 4 children they've all came here and I've gotten my prenatal care here as well at the vale terrace women's center location. I can say the front office ladies and gentlemen are usually so helpful and as well as the care I received and my children received from their doctors. The only one thing I don't like and it's always been this way since I've come is the wait time the clinic ask for you to be 15 minutes early and sometimes when I come in I'm not seen for another additional hour so I'm sitting and waiting and the my actual appointment is only like 10-20 mins but then you're sitting waiting again I understand places get backed to but l it just frustrating when this happens. Other than that I'll be going to this clinic till I can't anymore. read more

The level of unprofessionalism is off the charts.. I went with my case manager in mid June to make an appointment for a TB test which ended up being July 10. They sent me seven texts in the weeks leading up to my appointment, reminding me then re-reminding me about the appointment only to cancel the night before.. huh? Wtf? So I go in and they offer me an appointment with the mobile clinic which I decline.. but the next possible with them is another month out.. and they acted like I did something wrong. Have to say, with the numerous times I have had to deal with this place, it has become clear they are a disorganized time suck! First I could not get my blood test results until I complained on Yelp. You have to jump through hoops for everything. They make it as hard as possible to get anything done. Period. My wife had to wait forever to get results from a biopsy which was damn stressful for her. She had to make unnecessary trips. Calling, what a nightmare. Understanding the staff can be difficult, I have no issues with other ethnicities but when you put someone on the phones who have a very harsh accent, it seems a bit defeating. We have to find a new Doctor immediatly. This place is not organized, they cause so much wasted time, wasted calls, wasted trips, redundancy beyond redundancy that it becomes something we have to just laugh about. How does this kind of care even exist? I have received better treatment and care in Mexico or other countries. Looks elsewhere if you can. Total pain in the arse this place. read more

I can't stand Vista Community Clinic!! They are ill equipped to handle their patient load. Every appointment is set weeks out. They say you can do walk ins but that is a lie. The receptionist at Horne Street is one the people and she be in her line of work. People go to the doctor because they need help not to be belittled. Vista Community Clinic needs a complete overhaul. They are the absolute worst!! I don't recommend going to V.C.C to anyone. read more

I firmly stand by my previous review of the care that my adult son and I received at VCC. Lower income adults are invariably given bargain bin MDs, and Medi-cal HMO programs serve adults far less comprehensively than children. Some pediatricians have a serious case of Epic Fail Syndrome too, but children's healthcare through California is generally superior to what adults receive. My 5-stars are specifically for Dr. Bradley McCammack - VCC: Oceanside Location - North River Road - Pediatrics. Not only does he pull off wearing fancy bow ties (as any Doctor Who fan knows...bow ties are COOL), but won't shy away from any question or discussion about your child's health and will err on the side of caution when implementing any treatment plan. My younger son is autistic (like his mom and older brother...I'd venture to say there's a genetic component, but I'm no scientist; I just play one on Yelp). In September, I removed him from Middle School. Two years of Pre-K, then 1st-5th Grade...7 years in a placement devoid of educational curriculum ("Special" education: At 21, you get a certificate, the district thanks you for those extra funds... but diplomas are for college-bound students! Public School: Stigmatization through Separation.) He was behind on 3 vaccines, as his pediatrician, "Doctor Bob" Sears actively discouraged inoculating his autistic patients after diagnosis. Since he was the "expert," I bought it, briefly. I had 3 shots, but probably ate my body weight in lead paint chips in the early 80's. Once reason and logic kick in, you feel as though you've escaped some PretendyLand, like Oz, Narnia, Scientology, or wherever they make Sporks. Slightly awesome at first, until you realize how utterly useless and time consuming it is. I'm sure there's a Cult of Spork somewhere. What else can you stir your Kool Aid with? :) Dr. McCammack (and his outstanding bow tie) chose to educate rather than berate. He broke it down in very easy to understand layman's terms, and explained why waivers are reserved only for those who have anaphylactic reactions (like me...thanks, Herd!) Pseudoscience is like listening to a Katy Perry song. You know it's not good, but it sticks in your brain and pretty soon, you're a fiiiirework... Dr. McCammack let me know there are risks with ANY medication, but vaccines have infinitely less complication rates as, say, measles...or polio. He did notice there had been some strange symptoms after one series of shots; so he suggested we start off with the Polio shot, as it has the least chance of side effects. A month later, he administered the DTaP. I waited for him to become more autistic, but alas, he didn't catch the SuperAutisms. We're going back for his MMR; though I wasn't worried about getting the vaccines, I found Dr. McCammack's approach to be remarkably conservative (must be that bow tie...) Dr. McCammack went into medicine to help others. He's exactly where he wants to be - providing quality care to all of his patients, taking time to listen to parent/caregiver concerns, and providing them with necessary tools to educate themselves. Knowledge is power; and families of his patients can feel confident taking the reins when making decisions about their child's healthcare. Finally, I'll pull out my Dr. McCammack Pokémon card and throw out some stats: He started working at VCC in 2014. He attended Medical School at Keck School of Medicine, USC School of Medicine and completed his Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. McCammack is fluent in both English and Spanish. Unfortunately, his bow tie is not. He's a remarkable pediatrician, and our community is lucky he values people over profits. read more

Don't ignore all these negative reviews! I'm a get along kind of person, and I don't complain as a rule. I prefer to walk away and go elsewhere instead of whining. However, after just now paying $2000 for a blood test because VCC improperly filed the claim with Medicare, I feel a need to warn others. I realize that clerical mistakes go with the territory these days with medical offices being staffed with a continuing turnover of under trained and under motivated staff, but I do expect them to eventually be corrected. In this case, I made many attempts to get the problem rectified, and was met with lies from the staff. Not misunderstandings, but bold faced lies. "It will be taken care of". "My manager will call you" etc. NOT taken care of! NEVER a call back. When the lab started threatening sending the case to a collection agency, I paid the bill. If someone at VCC would like to respond to this review, with something more than the standard "Sorry you're having a problem. Feel free to call us so we can rectify the situation" BS, I'm all ears. read more

I had my first appointment today with the nurse practitioner. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and uses modern equipment. I didn't have to wait very long and was able to accomplish everything I needed to do today. I'm very happy that I chose Vista Community Clinic as my health provider. read more

Every year I have to do a TB test for my work, I was looking around to see where I can get one immediately I happen to come across Vista Community Clinic. I called them to make an appointment and they suggested that I could just walk into the nearest Vista Community Clinic, the closest one to me is the one located on Horne Street. When I walked in I was greeted by Janet and she is such an amazing person, he made me feel welcome. I was in and out within about 20 min. I have been coming to this VCC site for a year now and the front desk team has always been helpful and quick. I always see Brittany at the front desk and each time she has always been the best. The MAs Janet and Catherine usually draw my blood and I have really small veins but it is never a problem here. Finally! My provider Jennifer Kessler, from our first meeting, has always been informative and attentive, answering all of my crazy questions. I do not spend that much time there even when it is busy it moves pretty quickly. Best team ever. Thanks ladies!!!!! read more

This clinic, along with the sister clinics provide sub-par and outdated care. I have been a "client" at Vista Community Clinic for over 3 years now and have experienced extremely long wait times just to get in contact with someone who can schedule an appoint or resolve an issue. Scheduling an appointment can be done via text, through their online portal or via a phone call; however, expect an appointment (this is based on every experience I've had making an appointment with VCC) to be scheduled a minimum of three weeks in the future, all the way up to a a month and a half in the future. This is probably due to the high-volume of clients they attempt to expedite through their archaic health-care providers. Who in the world has their time to fuss with such slow and half-baked services when many of us have work, school and multiple personal issues to deal with on a monthly basis? Expect passive-aggressive retaliation by staff if by chance you can't make one of their appointments, as per my experience with VCC. Furthermore, doctors I have been seen by at each of the various VCC locations (especially Horne St.) have provided sub-par care with an, "what kind of insurance do you have?," attitude. Doctors who are not Psychiatrists are willing to malpractice by prescribing psychiatric medications without referral to an actual Psychiatrist, as per my experience. The staff Psychiatrist here was lauded, by staff, as an excellent Psychiatrist; however, it has been my experience that they cannot communicate effectively and are only interested in serving lay-folk who won't question their business-first practices. It truly doesn't seem as if the health-care providers, or staff, truly care about hearth-care or their, "clients," at Vista Community Clinic (VCC) and this has been my experience. I would be happy to elaborate on specific past experiences if necessary. I hope that this review can offer a realistic view on the services provided here. read more

Making an appointment can be a daunting task - I waited over an hour for a call back, I asked if they checked for kidney infections, told him I was there last week (which was a way smoother appointment and way better customer service) and have had pain for 4 months but I don't have health insurance nor the money to go back to the ER, he informed me that my last appointment was with the women's health department and asked if I still wanted to make a primary care appointment, I told him I don't really know I just want to see a doctor, he repeated his question and I told him again I don't know and I just want an appointment with any doctor for my kidney pain and if he thought it would be better to see the women's health department then transfer me - he didn't like my tone and hung up on me. If I was in the wrong place, then you could have just transferred me to the Women's Health Department. This is how you treat patients that just need help from a community clinic, help from a doctor? This is how you treat people that have no idea where to go b/c they have no money or insurance and the hospitals don't treat uninsured folks with kindness or the same? I don't know who took my call, but sir - you are absolutely a terrible and disgusting person. I would piss on your grave. How's my tone now? read more

When you go to the doctors there is a minimal expectation of care that should be provided. VCC does not meet that by any measure. If you are paying for insurance don't waist your time going to see doctors that do as little as possible to help you. Today was a second visit that we had to pay for because the doctor will not call you back when your symptoms worsen. We paid $100 dollars for them to say that there is nothing that they can do. The customer service here is horrendous! They took 50 minutes to walk my mother into her room even though there were only 4 patients there before her. Once in the room, the nurse only asked why we were in and left, basically only taking us in so we wouldn't complain about still being in the waiting room. The air conditioning was set up way to cold for a place where sick people go in for treatment. What bothered me the most is that some random worker had the audacity to RUDELY tell me to turn down my phone I was using to listen to videos with my siblings, even though it wasn't even as loud as the tv they have going on in there. I wasn't even in this place for half an hour before I wanted to storm out and never come again. I made the mistake of coming here because the vista clinic didn't have appointments until later, but I will NEVER be making that mistake again! I truly recommend you stick to the vista clinic and not to this little home made "clinic" where they don't even have manners for the people PAYING them read more

I saw nurse practitioner, Jennifer Kessler, who listened to me through my whole visit and gave me very good information. I first saw NP Desprosperis at the Women's Center in Vale Terrace and initially loved her care. I even tried to leave a compliment for her through the VCC website, but they never got back to me on how to do so. Anyway, I ended up following her to this clinic for similar care, but at this location she didn't even really have a proper appointment with me. The first time she was about 30 mins late past the scheduled time. She only brought me to the room to discuss her plan and didn't take any vitals, only did lab work and did not ask how I was doing. She told me she was rushing out because they were prepping a surgery for her to do next door. Then today, I show up early as asked, but she comes in an HOUR later than the scheduled time. This time she told me that she just did surgery before my visit (why are those cutting into MY time?). She is always rushed and never asked how I was AGAIN. This time they took vitals, but I had new symptoms to discuss and didn't even have to chance to let her know. I had to cut her off to ask her to refill medicine because I realized she wasn't going to give me any time to talk. Plus, she told the front desk staff about my diagnosis (because I needed to schedule an appointment with my family med provider) but the other patients in the waiting room could HEAR! Can you say HIPAA violation?! I'm disappointed. I still think NP Deprosperis is a great person, but she always seems so rushed and that is leading to a decrease in quality of care. Choose a different clinic if you can. 2 stars only because they did labs and could easily schedule my appointments (rather than calling and waiting 30 mins). read more

My favorite clinic to go too even though i live far i prefer it bc best customer service and the providers are the greatest bc they actually lisent and try to guide you and help you if you need medicine or referals. The waiting time sometimes it takes a bit but at the end is worth it! read more
