Overall i would definitely go back and try even more items on the menu! Ambiance was fine. Service was awkward and a bit on the slower side so 4/5 Beer flight was nice touch but a bit on the warm side Scallops(5/5) Steak(5/5) Ceviche (5/5) Tacos (3/5) fish was amazing but shells were dry Wings (3/5) cooked well and juicy but missing flavor even though they looked very flavorful Pudding dessert (4/5) Plantain dessert (3/5)

I was looking for a place in JP with gluten-free options and Vee Vee more than delivered. The inside seemed cozy but we went with a table in their "secret" patio, which is right around the corner and nicely decked out (I applaud restaurants' efforts to convert parking lots into feasible outdoor options at the height of the pandemic). Advise making reservations on the weekend and Thursday-Friday. The menu's pretty limited but that's not a ding in my book if the restaurant can ace the handful of dishes offered (better than a wide spread of mediocre options). I went with the chicken dish. Chicken breast, whenever I cook it at home, always turns into a dry, tough slab, so as it happens, that's usually a restaurant dish that catches my eye. This one was cooked beautifully, with a nice, crispy skin, and I loved the potato gnocchi as a side. Was it mind-blowing, though? I will say, for a chicken dish, the price tag of $31 was fancy steakhouse-level steep. Everyone's reeling from inflation these days but my wallet definitely felt a pinch. That said, the dish was cooked with attention and care. Our waiter made sure to offer suggestions and refill our water glasses. For parking, there's a municipal lot right behind the row of restaurants with lots of 2-hour spaces and free after 6pm.

Had to come back to add an updated review for the new Black Cat menu at Vee Vee. Same great patio and service, even more amazing food! Everything we tried was delicious, but highlight was the red snapper curry

Love Vee Vee! Such a great spot. Their new menu is super good. Flavors are unreal. The patio is such a nice vibe too. Highly recommend!

I recently came here after a menu revamp, for Black Cat @ Vee Vee. EXCELLENT meal. My friend and I split several dishes: red snapper crudo, wingz (with the red stripe and magnum bbq sauce), the fried rice, the beef empanada, and two tacos (al pastor and pollo). The tacos were pretty good (flavorful and lots of filling nestled in a double tortilla), but everything else was outstanding. I think our favorite might have been the fried rice, which is saying a lot coming from two Chinese girls. The bbq sauce on the wingz was addictive, and the crudo was fresh and just the right amount of heat from the pepper. The empanada was crisp and light on the inside with juicy beef on the inside and the two sauces it came with were perfect. We couldn't decide between two of the desserts so we got both. The soursop ice cream was so creamy and not too sweet, but the bruñuelo was (to me) the star of the meal. I thought it would be dense since I think it's made of plantains but it was sooooo airy and crispy and the sauce on top was *chefs kiss*. I am literally planning my next visit to try the other half of the menu, including more of their vegetarian options!

This is a hidden treasure and I love this place. I would do it no justice if I keep it a secret. I just hope after this I still get a seat.

Rating: 4.5 Came to…read morestopped by this local family owned Ethiopian restaurant for lunch on the way to Vermont. Street parking available around the area. It's a small restaurant with just few seatings and a counter. Inside was pretty empty. Looked authentic as everyone in there were African people and seemed to be speaking African language. We sat down and looked at the menu. Menu is small but offer authentic Ethiopian dishes. I ended up getting some samosas to start, spicy lentil, mixed veggie and beef. Had chai tea. Chai tea was nice and hot, chai flavor with subtle sweetness and creaminess. The samosas were fresh, steaming, crispy, and hot on the inside. Came with a dipping sauce the has bit of acidity. All the types were good but beef was my favorite. We got Ethiopian platter with meat. It came with large anjero which is a spongy fermented flat bread which feels and look like a pancake. It came with 5 different dishes on top which consisted of lentil mix, beef and vegetables, cauliflower and eggplant, chicken and veggie, and collard greens and vegetables. You scoop up the dish with anjero and eat them together. I've never had this kind of dish but it was very interesting and tasty. It had lots of vegetables and was large portion so even sharing with another person, I feel like i got really full and got my vegetables for the day. Everything was spiced and flavored well and reminded of authentic home cooking. Even though that taste of the food wasn't mind blowing it was hearty, soulful and healthy food that leave you feel satisfied. The service was excellent. The server which i think is the owner was very nice and helpful. Being relatively new to Ethiopian cuisine he was able help us navigate what to expect and order and answer any questions. He was very friendly and almost felt like a fatherly figure. Overall this place is definitely a hidden gem. If you want to try authentic Ethiopian soul food. I highly recommend visiting. Food and service were excellent. I enjoyed the experience and i was glad that i was able to try new type of food i've never tried before. These kind of family owned local restaurant are what i like to and want others to support.

The man working there was friendly and welcoming and we got an Ethiopian anjero platter with three vegetable stews, beef, and chicken. Everything was delicious and tasted healthy and fresh. I think I preferred both meat stews and the mixed vegetable stew over the lentils and eggplant stews, but everything was great. I'm going to have to clarify this next time maybe, but the stews came atop a large anjero that tasted a bit more sour than the smaller ones that came on the side. We remember the bread from the other Ethiopian place we've tried in the past to be more sour than both of the ones we had here. I looked it up and it seems there's a difference between the Ethiopian anjero (larger and more fermented/sour) and the Somali one. I like both, but it was just interesting to learn.

I ordered and was told one time, but the food unfortunately was still not ready on time. It did not appear busy inside so I am not sure what the wait was, but the customer service was better than most Caribbean restaurants. Appears as if a lot of locals frequent this establishment The oxtails only come in one size and I don't think it was worth the money. The rice had no flavor until I put the extra curry gravy on top. 5/10 Oxtails were tender but not many but they were hot 6/10 The escovitch snapper was over cooked and dry. Absolutely would not order again, upset that I waited such a long time for this meal. 2/10 Plantains were nothing special 4/10 Cabbage was average 6/10 I did overhear them mention an inspection that they recently passed, and how they always pass their inspections which made me feel good about eating here at the time. I do not think id return because I expected more & there's plenty of options in the surrounding area. The only plus is that they offer bar seating as well as dining inside which most Carribean restaurants don't have
