10 visits later, and it's still one of my favorite dining (esp brunch) spots in Boston!!! Food (5/5): Brassica nails the balance of creating an evolving "American" menu with crowd-pleasing staples as well as bites with extra splashes of deliciously balanced creativity. - staples: the chicken and waffles as well as the sweet fried rice are my go-tos. the balance of sweet and salty is perfection - donuts/biscuits: soul-comforting doughy delights Ambience (4.5/5): the dress code is anywhere from "put together casual" to business casual. Music never too loud for meaningful convo. With the expansion, tables are now spaced for comfortable and intimate convo. Other: - service: casual, relatable, and attentive - parking by the forest hills mbta is pretty reliable - resy: must book in advance and show up within 15min We'll be back!!!

Walking into Brassica the vibe is instantly casual and welcoming. Our server Ana was fantastic. My husband can't have any food with alcohol in the cooking and instantly upon hearing that she had the chef mark up a menu - something we SO appreciate. At a new to us place We like to know "what shouldn't we miss", and Ana's recs were spot on. The Crab & Donuts were incredible, with the sauce being "lick the bowl clean" delicious. The pork belly with brown butter marshmallow is not to be missed. The risotto - using Parmesan 3 ways was also delicious. And the pizza was incredibly fresh and spring-like topped with snap peas and arugula. We (i) also enjoyed a cocktail (First Date), sweet but balanced. And the chocolate flan a perfect meal ender. We can't wait to go back and try brunch there

I really like what Brassica is doing. The entire menu has a fresh spin on items you might haveve had, but prepared in a unique way that you won't forget. I got a latte, the brunch fried rice, and a pancake. All 3 were great! Our server was also great and it was so cozy inside. I'm excited to go back and try the new space, as well as try the dinner menu, which I believe they are known for.

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed brunch this much. The pretzel biscuit was simply incredible. As someone who loves pretzel anything, this was like heaven for me. So soft and warm, and the honey butter was great. The hashbrowns were also excellent. Perfect little potato bites, soft on the inside and the perfect crisp on the outside. Cheese sauce also great. The brunch fried rice was the most unique thing we tried, and it did not disappoint. Super yummy, and had a nice kick to it. Big fan. And chicken and waffles were also great. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and paired well with the very soft waffles. Good to mix and match with all the hot sauces, too! The service was great, the coffee was great, all around can't say enough good things about Brassica!

Quaint place near the arboretum we were visiting. Great food and service. We went there for brunch on Saturday. I had the tofu gravy and pretzel biscuit...really good. Marinated firm tofu worked well with the dish. I tried my wife's fried rice and sausage, which was quite tasty, as well as my son's pancakes...also yummy. Had some great homemade donuts at the end. Go there!

Celebration brunch after our daughter graduated from college on Saturday. Reservations absolutely recommended as it is a very popular restaurant! Bustling high energy ambience with small tables best suited for 2-4 people. Friendly staff. We ordered the brunch fried rice, the tower street sando, the chicken and waffles, and the tamale with caramelized mushrooms. Very satisfying delicious meal! Our daughter mentioned Brassica a few times in the past 4 years, so I'm glad we got to check it out!

It's been a while since I've reviewed brassica but that's what happens when you are a frequent visitor. They do a solid brunch. There's enough savory and sweet options for all palates. I love that they do a breakfast fried rice; not a lot of places have this option- it's usually waffles, french toast, and pancakes, which are great but hey, more choices more fun. I also get their maple umeboshi latte which is phenomenal. No one else makes this flavor. Umeboshi is a sour Japanese plum btw, I googled for you! Always worth a trip and yes, make a reservation way in advance.

So yummy! Very diverse and interesting flavors. Plates are small but filling, the fried chicken was delicious and juicy and had a side of pickled cabbage and I believe strong wasabi mustard that complimented the sweet chicken sauce. The risotto had a very strong parmesan umami flavor, it might be too strong for some but I added some hot sauce to help. The corn salsa was amazing, a good soft heat. The inside is a cool vibe and outside seating feels very private. The dishes were all different, with cute patterns. Our server Josh was very kind, funny and knowledgable about the menu! Very welcoming and I appreciate the pricing transparency, the tip and tax is included in the menu, big fan.

This might be my new favorite restaurant! Everything we had was amazing and it truly felt like the executive chef thought about every detail of the food. I was really impressed and will definitely come back here.

Have been wanting to try Brassica Kitchen for quite some time and managed to get an elusive brunch reservation on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were incredibly friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was more like that of a high-energy cafe rather than a typical brunch spot. The menu is short and sweet, with a lot of focus on their "hero item" -- fried chicken. Everything we ordered was delicious. Despite not being a big coffee drinker, I loved the flavor of their Maple Umeboshi Latte, which was one of the best iced lattes I've had in a while. The Biscuits & Gravy with their signature fried chicken, unique pretzel biscuit, and scrumptious gravy was top notch. The only downside is that it's pretty difficult to walk-in, so definitely try to grab a reservation in advance! Food: 1. French Toast Bites (4/5) 2. Biscuits & Gravy (5/5) Drink: 1. Iced Maple Umeboshi Latte with Oat Milk (5/5)

Small plates: beets - 4/5 subtle flavor, nice textures with the crunchy topping and creamy sauce dry aged beef marmalade - 4/5 cracker that comes with it a bit too crunchy and thin duck breast over charcoal - 4.1/5 nice breadth of flavor from savory to sweet fluke ceviche - 3.8/5 very spicy, maybe too spicy dessert: frank's flan - 3/5 standard flan, nothing special drinks: meguro #1 - 3.2/5 dead ramones - 3.3/5 Nice place for dinner dates or eating with friends and family. Small, lively space. There isn't much seating for larger groups from what I could tell. I enjoyed this place for its small sharable plates and the creativity that goes into each plate for unique flavor combinations. Having said that, there wasn't anything that really stood out to me this time around. Service was great. Very polite staff that was helpful in providing details on dishes. They were out of quite a few items when I went for a later dinner, but the staff kindly communicated these details to us. Parking can be a bit tricky. There are a few street parking spots just outside the restaurant. Outside of that, you may have to walk a bit further to find a spot.

TAKEOUT review * My…read moredaughter's friend recommended this place. Easy to order online. Keep in mind they are tapas so the quantity is smaller than an entree. There were 6 of us and we ordered 6 things, and fortunately we weren't ravenously hungry because otherwise we might've needed at least 3 more. We ordered mushroom salad, pad paa (a scrumptious concoction of veggies in sauce that comes with jasmine rice), crab fried rice, roasted brussel sprouts, grilled pork cheek, chicken ka praw. The order was ready for pickup within 30 minutes (which is what it predicted online). The food was freshly made, hot, ready to go at 8 p.m. and the staff were friendly and helpful. It looked like the customers there were having a fun time. We all really enjoyed every bite, particularly the pad paa with jasmine rice. It ended up being enough food for us as well.

The fried chicken skin was a standout. The crispy skin paired perfectly with a cold beer. The Pad Thai was also delicious, the Brussels sprouts were wonderfully crispy with a simple but flavorful seasoning, and the beef Massaman curry was rich and comforting--I'd definitely recommend ordering a bowl of rice to go with it. The pork cheek was incredibly tender and very filling. Not every dish was a hit, though. The crab fried rice was a bit disappointing. It was essentially regular fried rice with just a few pieces of crab sprinkled on top, so it didn't feel worth ordering. The crab curry was also a letdown. If you do order it, I'd recommend having it with rice instead of the rice noodles, as I think that would make it more enjoyable. Overall, the quality of the food and the excellent service made for a very enjoyable meal, and I'd happily come back to try more dishes.

Overall, everything tasted great (esp the fried chicken and home fries) and the portions were massive to just right. If there were a few kinks to iron out, I'd say that the beignets weren't really airy and some of the mushroom stems in the omelette were really tough and should've been discarded before cooking. Next for dinner: their fried chicken dinner which came with Mac and cheese, collard greens/broccolini, cornbread, and the tempura hake, and a side of cornbread with pecan butter. That pecan butter was delicious, we definitely asked for more. The fried chicken dinner was also amazing, every single dish in it. The hake while crispy, didn't have enough salt. The server fixed it immediately with a side of garlic aioli and that was great. If I could make a suggestion, I would say they should swap out the celery root slaw for something that goes better with the fish. Service was excellent both times. Very friendly and accommodating, always asking if we enjoyed our meal and they were quick to make things right if we had requests. Ambiance is really nice, very warm, inviting, perfect for a sit down meal. Apart from a few kinks in their dishes (which I'm sure they can resolve), I'd give them 5 stars.

This review falls somewhere between 3 1/2 to 4 stars…read more Ever since I heard about Don't Tell Aunty opening up last year I've been itching to get in and try it, especially as someone who loves Indian cuisine and someone who is often intrigued by fusion concepts and modern twists on classic dishes. We finally decided to go for a mid afternoon meal on a Saturday in the beginning of June. We looked at the menu online ahead of time to refresh our memories on their offerings, and the food was listed all together in a section called "all day menu". We had some dishes in mind that we wanted to try, namely the tikka tots, the mirchi bhajji and the rasam ramen. Unfortunately none of these items were on the menu when we went in. I realized that they have separate menus for lunch and dinner with the lunch menu being more limited, which I know lots of restaurants do. Nevertheless we were still excited to try the food there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. Beautiful design, very comfortable and the music was a vibe. Contrary to some of the other reviews here saying that the service was aloof and lackluster, we found that it was prompt and down to earth. We opted for some Indian beers over cocktails. For food we decided on some curry dishes. Boyfriend ended up with paneer butter masala, I had Goan fish curry and we split some garlic naan. The guy did warn ahead of time that the fish curry was a naturally spicy dish, to which I stated that I was totally cool with that since I love the spicier dishes. Boyfriend asked for his butter masala to be extra hot. The presentation of the entrees is absolutely stunning. The rice was fluffy and the curry hit all the flavor notes as it was a little sweet, a little spicy and a little tangy. In hindsight I think I should've asked them to make it a tad spicier for me, but the flavor was definitely there and it was a pretty solid, filling dish. Boyfriend really enjoyed his butter masala, saying that they delivered on his request for extra heat. The bread wasn't bad, though the portion is rather small and it kind of reminded me of the packaged naan bread you can get at the grocery store. Overall it was a good experience at Don't Tell Aunty. I did see on the website that they were making changes to the menu, so I look forward to seeing what else they can do.
