As we all know bringing your baby to get emergency care is very anxiety inducing. Not only are you scared for what's happening but not knowing how much it's going to cost to get them treated is extremely stressful. I brought my cat in for a possible UTI and not only did they get her seen as quickly as possible but they also were extremely visible right away about pricing and all potential costs (very much a relief for those like me who are on a budget), they also were extremely honest about what tests and treatments they thought were necessary and which could be scheduled at a later date for a lower cost with our primary vet. Their love of animals and their job does not go unnoticed, the way they not only interacted with my cat but also with every other animal there only boosted my confidence that I had brought my fur baby to the right place. They were so accommodating of my cat and her particular needs - they made sure she was as comfortable as could be 100% of the time. I would particularly like to shout out Sydney who worked up at the front - she was so upbeat, warm, and thoughtful. I was extremely anxious and scared, especially being there by myself and she was so accommodating offering snacks and water, sitting with my fur girl while I used the restroom, and offering conversation to distract my anxious thoughts I would also like to shout out the vet tech (who's name I can't remember and feel horrible about) who was told I had a bit of an anxious kitty and brought a towel to drape over her carrier so she would feel safer I (of course) hope to never need emergency pet care again but if I do I will 100% be coming back here read more

I brought my dog to VEG 2 weeks ago with vomiting and diahrea, thought maybe she had a blockage, they did xrays said they came back negative they didn't see anything, they charge me $1300 for an xray, and sedation send me way with no diagnosis or what it could be, well here we are 2 weeks later and my dog is having emergency surgery for a blockage. It's all because VEG only cares about the money and won't help you out if you don't have money up front, it's crazy my dog might not make it , because they told me she was fine. There's a lot of stress when you need an emergency vet and don't know where to go. Thankfully our normal vet recommended VEG and I am so glad they did. Everyone on staff, including Regina our vet tech and Dr D'Addezio treated Tupper as if he were their pet. It's no secret that with pet ownership on the rise vets are so busy and yet this team took the time to gently examine our furry family member and clearly explain what the issue was and their recommended treatment plan. Tupper is so glad to have people in his corner and he is on the mend. Did I mention they checked in on us the day after? That's taking it to a whole new level of client care. My pet certainly DID get seen at your location. In fact, on one phone call I made, a very friendly young man answered the phone and when I told him my pet's info, he asked right away how he's doing and told me how sweet, adorable, and calm my pet was in person. Other docs also prescribed anti-nausea meds. You completely have your facts twisted. Elizabeth Crowling was a nightmare to deal with on the phone, but I'm glad I finally talked some sense into her and I ultimately got what I needed from her, which was the prescription. I told her I needed her to sign it and after she wasted so much of my precious time by being stubborn and difficult, she did I what I needed. But her demeanor treated this situation as anything but an emergency. All of you need to learn from the names I mentioned in my initial review, who exhibited upmost professionalism. But it only takes a few "bad apples" to make yourselves look really bad. Please undergo more rigorous training. You are an emergency service. Treat it as such and do not ever tell your concerned pet parents their calls are "extensive." Please familiarize yourself with the company model and motto. ====== I had high hopes for VEG Boston, but ultimately they failed our expectations with their crude customer service. Corporate had communicated to us that all the VEG locations, although separate entities, are still essentially one, unified team for requests, with access to all medical information and records. I had gone to VEG Newton, but decided to change to the Boston location. When my pet was going thru a deeply challenging time, one of the employees, Elizabeth Crowling, initially was not willing to prescribe him an essential food. Ultimately, she did prescribe it, but after I had to explain to her, REPEATEDLY, why it was necessary. This was an emergency, but she treated it like anything but. When I had come in person to the Boston location several times, there were two people who were always very kind and gracious: Jessica and Sydney. Also, Dr. Selleck, Dr. Cabral, and Dr. Roy very caring. Thumbs up for them. Everyone should follow their example, especially Elizabeth Crowling, one of the female phone operators I spoke with late at night, and the "manager" who left me a rambling voicemail, who had commented that my concerned calls about my pet were getting "extensive." Came here the other night with my mischievous cat who got into some flowers that I didn't realize had lilies in them. The staff were so kind, caring, reassuring, and as helpful as possible. Service worst than trump being in office. I did not want to write this kind of review, however this was the most traumatizing vet visit I've ever had. I went to this place about a week ago, because my dog was experiencing some medical issues; skin condition issue. I was frantically calling all around Boston because my dog could barely walk, because of how uncomfortable he was. I was directed towards this group out of everyone in Boston because they were full because of Covid and could not except new clients. On the phone with Veterinary in Emergency in Group, they seemed very professional and I gave a chance. Getting into the office I was put into a very open room along with other vet interns that were on lunch or break or maybe not even so but playing around in the office. My dog is a very hyper active anxious animal and needs to have his stress be accommodated too. That did not happen I sat on a couch in the middle of the room while these young girls came along and just did a physical, not even a full physical on him. Noticing they were so young and not taking the situation seriously, having a stressful environment around me I was overwhelmed personally. So was my animal which did not help. I continue to ask if I need to get in contact with my primary vet to transfer over any documents that can be helpful for his treatment. When I tell you I had to figure out everything myself and tell the vet how to do their job, I was. I was already under stress with the dog and then do all this transferring when they should of contacted my vet for me and not have THE CLIENT go through all this stress when they could of done this directly. That is not even the problem, after finally getting off the phone and transferring over the documents. The young vet intern comes up to me, and says my total is going to be blah blah blah. The money was not the issue the problem was of the presentation and for what it was for. I didn't even understand how they even got to that estimate when they only gave him two physicals, half ass by the way. She told me that she was taking samples of him to run test when she didn't even check the documents first to see if there was any connection to what he's been previously treated for. Also they had no medication lined up near nor did they ever look at the transfer documents even. I was so confused about how they came up with this total and I was shocked because of so. They didn't even have meds lined up yet! I just got back from York Village vet, driving an hour out of my way, my primary doctor looked at my dog for 20 minutes and knew exactly what it was, it was a very common skin rash and did not need any testing, prescribe some antibiotics and a medicated bath for the next couple weeks twice a week. Also my total was $280 compared to $450 for people that didn't even take their job seriously. It was absolutely ridiculous, I literally had an emotional breakdown and was crying when I left. I was so and completely stressed out they kept trying to call me to apologize, but obviously wasn't serious enough to follow up. Never will I ever go to another vet in Boston. read more

I can't thank them enough. I took my cat there at the end of her life, after a long illness, and everyone there treated both of us with skill, efficiency and compassion. You gave my little girl peace, and an end that was as dignified and loving as her life. Cannot recommend VEG enough. These situations with pets can be so stressful and emotional and they made it so much easier. We came in Sunday around 3PM because our 1.5 y/o puppy was vomiting, lethargic, diarrhea, etc. We were seen immediately by the vet tech (Sean I think?) for vitals and intake. It was his day off and he was still so friendly, patient and gentle. We were then seen by Dr. Roy who was also personable, calming and really listened to our concerns. Long story short, everyone who administered medication or care to our pup was just so incredibly warm, careful and accommodating to us and our puppy. We ended up with some anti-nausea medication and antibiotics and two days later our little guy is eating, playing and seemingly back to his normal self. This was the most pleasant experience I have ever had with any veterinarian. The staff is attentive and happy. The whole vibe of this place is loving and positive. I waited in a large room for a very short time. Vitals were taken by a tech. Then the veterinarian came out and sat cross-legged on the floor to examine my little dog. My dog is usually agitated during exams on those high tables. She just relaxed while the doctor poked and prodded. Some tests were taken....meds prescribed...and we were out in under an hour. I brought my dog in after a few days of vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. My dog is very anxious to begin with especially at the vet and the vet techs and the vet were absolutely amazing. They tried multiple times with different tactics to get his blood drawn when he was being difficult with them. They were all SO caring and understanding and kind to my dog and I and I am so so grateful. They were very upfront about the treatment options, costs and procedures available. Our 14 year old corgi Jack Russell woke up at 3 am in so much pain he was crying and shaking! We raced to VEG where we had gone for the first time two weeks earlier for a bee sting in his paw and they were so kind that I only pictured us taking our lovely little boy back to where he was treated like family (and so were we!) Unfortunately, there was nothing else we could do for him and decided to put him down. Dr.Mader was the most kind vet I have ever come in contact with in all my years of pet ownership. She was so compassionate and treated our dog like he was her own. She let us hold him the whole time until he slipped away peacefully in my arms. I cannot recommend VEG enough! We had an exceptional experience at VEG when our cat was having a vomiting episode. I called ahead and the receptionist listened to our situation and explained why she thought a visit was needed and was able to give an accurate estimate for the wait time. Parking was a breeze when we arrived around 7PM on a Sunday night. We were immediately greeted and triaged by friendly reception and tech staff. We waited about 15 minutes for Dr. Mader. She gave our cat a thorough exam, listened carefully to our description of her symptoms, and never made us feel rushed. She very clearly laid out her assessment, recommendations for care, and pricing. We never felt like we were being sold on something, and it was clear everyone had our pet's best interest at heart. I had packed a tote anticipating a long night of waiting, but we were home within the hour! We were seen in a private room, but it's true this is an "open concept" clinic so other animals being treated and chattering staff might share the space with you (which I could see might be distressing in a stressful situation). However, everyone we interacted with was extremely sympathetic and respectful. So impressed with VEG. I would definitely bring our cat back here if needed. read more

We came down from NH with a dog that has been attacked and had a terrible cut in his mouth that would not stop bleeding. The first place , MSPCA ANGELLS turned us away when over the phone they told us to get him there asap. So I found VEG, and we came here. The staff was INCREDIBLE!! Brought my kitten in after he got his collar stuck over his mouth and was bleeding and panting. The staff here were so friendly and helpful. They got my baby cleaned up and checked his breathing, temperature, etc. to make sure he is okay. You could tell they knew exactly how to handle him and keep him calm and comfortable. They sent us off with no charge and let us know what to monitor for over the next day. I certainly hope never to have to come back to emergency vet, but if it ever happens I know exactly who to call. We had the best experience with VEG and we highly recommend them! We took our puppy here after he ate a bunch of rocks. First, Dr. Cabral was there to see him immediately before we complete any paper works. He nailed the problem Lenny had and the X-ray took only several minutes. He communicated with us about the treatment plan and scheduled surgery on the same night. He was able to communicate us throughout the treatment and we were allowed to visit the puppy throughout the night and the 2nd post-op days. Dr Abell took over the 2nd day and she is very caring and sending us updates throughout the day to ease our worries about Lenny. Dr. D'Addezio also updates us with Lenny's condition after his night shift. Overall, all the staff here are extremely loving and friendly. The facility is clean and the set up is very professional and just look like a human ER! We couldn't be happier about Lenny's surgery and treatment here. The price might be expensive, but the service is worth it! read more

Its unfortunate that Im writing this but I was here earlier this morning during a rush hour with my dog, the receptionist was getting slammed with trying to help everyone out, but not one person came to help assist and as I was looking in the back everyone was on their phones doing nothing. Brought my dog here about 3 weeks ago after she'd been throwing up/diarrhea. Safe to say I left here absolutely traumatized, for many reasons. They have an "open concept" set up for your pet to feel "less stress". Meaning I held her while they took her blood work and stayed with her the whole time while being next to other people with their pets. There was one dog vomiting next to me, another getting its leg twisted back into place, and even a cat under anesthesia having some sort of procedure done, wtf?! She needed an iv for fluids, they struggled to get it in (which I understand can happen due to dehydration), but then passed her to me and told me to sit with her in the lobby. Her iv busted all over me, leaving me covered in her blood. I was pretty shaken up and they even had to nerve to become a bit rude and say "you need to take a minute for yourself outside." Interesting. My dog was also terrified at that point. Finally was able to leave after they finished her iv while busting 3 of her legs. Never again. read more

Recommendation: It would be very beneficial to more explicitly outline (on the website) what constitutes an emergency. Apparently my dog did not meet that threshold with a bad ear infection causing her pain, despite reading some of the previous reviews noting that their pets were seen for infections. I was informed that VEG does not see pets for infections. Very disappointing, as I had been happy to learn about this location in my neighborhood as a resource if I ever had an urgent issue and was not able to be seen by my dog's regular vet. read more

One of the best emergency vet clinics you'll find. The staff are amazing. Even if there's a wait, you will be triaged, spoken with, updated, and kept informed of the status. You stay with your pet throughout the entirety of your visit. The Dr.'s meet with you to evaluate your pet, explain a recommended treatment plan, and meet with you again afterwards with a further plan / recommendations after treatment. Everything is explained along the way. They are also very efficient; the wait times are always far less than other places, even with a long "line". read more

Friendly and communicative staff. Our dog is very anxious at the vet. She needed her dew claw examined and clipped which she is particularly sensitive with due to past trauma. They were very understanding, let us stay with her the whole time and offered to move us into a private space for more comfort. Our dog was given one injection of sedation and after an hour was still fighting the drowsiness, but everyone was so patient. They didn't force anything on her, eventually we opted for another round of sedation and finally once she was really calm the nurse was able to work with her (while she was mostly asleep) to take care of her torn nail. We were seen by at least 4 team members at the office and all of them were so sweet. Would definitely recommend. Thank you VEG Boston for your help today! read more

My dog could be in labor she's acting different doesn't wanna eat or drink water I am very scared, and she also had a major attitude because of the questions I was trying to ask. Also said my dog was not in any emergency and she had lots of patents dogs with emergency not know my dogs situation. Everyone else had great customer service except emmonie. Love this office . Everyone was nice and very helpful. Seeing how it was a stressful time for me , I'm not able to remember names. The office and room was very clean. They had a little nice area with coffee, tea and cookies which I thought was really nice. My kitten is sick and needed an urgent visit. I called the office and the person I spoke with was very nice. She sent me a link that I filled out so I'm all checked in by the time I got there. When I got there I called and they came right to the door and walked me straight to a room. There was no waiting at the door or in the waiting area.... Which I thought was amazing. I was happy I got to go into the room with my kitten. Again everyone was so pleasant at the office. Dr Abell was very nice and answered my question. What made me even love them more were these 2 next points. I sent an email last night with a concern and I swear within like 20mins Dr Abell called me with answers. She also texted me this morning to check in on my baby which shows they truly do care about their patient's. read more

My 10 year old Yorkie mix was fetching tennis balls when all of a sudden he stopped and wouldn't get up. Our regular vet had no availability until the following day. I didn't want to wait so asked for recommendations. They said other owners had liked VEG. Taking that as a good sign, I headed there. Long story short, my guy had torn ACLs in both rear legs and is unable to walk. He will need surgery on both. I have to admit the vet and the diagnostics were very good. However, the other components were not. The vet techs were very cool - little emotion or warmth toward my dog or me. When they gave me the scripts, they were both in vials that required syringe administration - a process with which I was very unfamiliar. (The second medication Gabopentin is available in capsule form.) Their instructions were "put the syringe in the vial and fill to this level." These instructions left me unprepared when the syringes would not move, the cap on the vial came off and the meds spilled everywhere. Extremely annoying and wasteful. The clinic is very high tech which makes for faster and (probably) more accurate diagnoses -- however, the computer lab feel felt very cold and impersonal. The atmosphere only added to the coolness of the vet personnel. Bottom line: It was a holiday and my regular vet was not available in what I considered to be an emergency so I took the suggestion to go to VEG. I don't think I would ever go there again except in an emergency where there were no other options. read more

We couldn't have asked for better care for our Great Dane puppy, Greta. She had HOD and ended up there twice within a few weeks. The techs were amazing and so caring. The vets were in constant contact with us and took such great care of her. We actually called and asked if we could have them as our regular vet for all of our pets. Several weeks ago i had to take one of my cats here since she was not doing well. While experience was very traumatizing just given how scared I was for my baby and how scary the situation was, every person at this office was always friendly, helpful, and understanding. Next steps were always communicated clearly and they were always open to answering any questions I had. Today another one of my cats was sick and given my experience prior, this is where I brought her. And i was not let down. They always communicate costs so there's no surprises at the end. I highly reccomend taking your pet to this 24 hour facility. My dog had a pretty bad wound on his tail and was very uncomfortable and needed to see someone asap because of how odd he was acting. I found this place and took him because I had no other option, and they took care of my Max really well. They took us right in, asked what the problem was, and did a full exam on him. We were in there for only an hour. They were super sympathetic and very on top of things. I know if I have another issue with my pet, this is where I'll be taking him in a time of need. read more
