I took my kitten to y'all at VEG Ralph Ave. because I was concerned he might sprain or broken his leg because it swollen. I call ahead and explain to y'all what was going on with my kitten and I also googled what was going on with my kitten, google answer was the same as I already suspected. Y'all told me I have to bring the kitten in before y'all can tell me what was going on with my kitten yes y'all did told me i have to pay $195 for the doctor to tell me what was going on and what needs i need to do, l know it was a lot to just talk to the Vet but my daughter love the kitten so i was willing to make the sacrifice to make my daughter happy. if y'all had told me l was going to get a huge bill over $1100 just to tell me what I already suspect then y'all going to tell me that my kitten might need surgery which is going to probably cost thousands of dollars. Now I'm going to have to take the kitten to a shelter because I cannot afford any surgery and now they might have to put him down. you're a bunch of scammer to poor people. i will be writing a review on google and anywhere i can find. to make sure this does not happen again to someone unfortunate like my family!! read more

I brought my Shit tzu in for examination. She was not eating and had lost a tremendous amount of weight. They ran a complete blood panel, Doppler and ex-rays - the entire works. The results were that my dog was in pretty good health considering her age (she was 17 years old.) I asked why is she not eating or drinking; they replied that she had a swollen lymph node and that can be a contributing factor. The doctor informed me that the lymph node can be reduce with medication that he prescribed along with an apatite stimulator and antibiotics for the infection. All together, they charged me $1,997.00 for the service. Not only did my dog NOT respond to he medication, but within 3 days I called back to speak with the same doctor who told me to bring her back in. In the end, it was noted that her lymph node not only did not respond to the medication, but got larger within the 3 days after they saw her. My dog had a grand mal seizure and had to be "put down". In spite of paying $1,997.00 three days prior, those bastards had the gall to charge me $500. to euthanize my dog. People, VEG is all about making monies. They catch you at your most vulnerable moment and stick it to you; with incorrect diagnosis and exorbitant prices. Please, Please go elsewhere for your pet medical services. This is the place to take your sick or injured pet. I took my fur baby there and they care of her and me. The nicest most thoughtful group of professionals I've ever gone to. Most of the time they meet you as you come in the door.The concern on their faces is real so is the relief as they send you and your pet home. The doctors and techs work as a team. My 20.5 year old cat who just so happens to be the sassiest cat out there and is named Queen Cosbon made a visit to VEG Ralph Avenue about a month or so ago with my dad in the middle of the night since she was howling in pain and was unable to pee or poop in her litter box. Not only did VEG hit the nail on the head with their diagnosis, but she was very happy to roam their facility after giving the techs and the vets hell. Queen Cosbon would like to apologize for yelling at everyone who helped to take care of her when she was at VEG; she's sassy and old and got a long lecture once she got home about how she has to be nice to others. read more

Compassionate vets and staff that clearly care about animals. We sadly had to have our elderly cat put down, and the staff at this facility was everything we needed. Everyone was apologetic and sympathetic to the situation. There was zero wait time, and our private room had soothing soft lighting and plenty of tissues available. We were able to stay with our cat the entire time. We were told at every step of the process that we could take as much time as we needed alone with him before anything happened. They even said we could stay the entire night if we felt the need. There was a call button when we were ready so we literally never had to leave his side and were also never disrupted during these moments. We were given many different options as far as cremation and urns. There was never any pressure or upselling at all. They were also able to save some of his fur for us. At the end of the day, this was never going to be an easy thing to do, but VEG made it as peaceful as it could be. We are very appreciative of this positive experience for our cat and us in his final moments. read more

Just rescued a dog, who developed a sudden cough within the first two weeks of adoption. I brought her to VEG on 1950 Ralph Avenue, to be seen as an emergency for fear it was kennel cough as it could potentially spread to my senior dog she lives with, or fear of something worse. We waited over an hour, in a small room where my dog was anxiously crying, and not one tech came over and even took her vitals. We were totally disregarded. Upon inquiring about the matter we were told to go elsewhere because they had more important cases at hand. The front desk gave us a list of places that were all closed for the weekend. First i want to say i give this place a 10/10. The environment is super clean and the staff are so generous and welcoming . I took my dog there for an emergency and it was the best decision i ever made . Big shout outs to Dr.Sayaka Yogo and Dr.Karedia they are literally the greatest . Even though emergency vets are pricey they do not pressure you at all to do the treatment plans or make you feel like a bad dog mom . I'm happy i made a decision to go there and was able to leave with medicine to make my dog comfortable . Please go there you won't regret . read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS...We took our dog here in labor. They did an ultrasound and determined the baby was dead. They suggested an Rx to see how many more babies she had, and they saw only 1. After this, they suggested that the best option was to induce more contractions, and for that, we also paid to check the calcium level in her blood, according to Dr. Ortiz, the calcium level was on the lower side of the acceptable range, but he decided she needed more calcium and oxytocin to induce the contractions (she got 2 shots of this), after 1 long hour of my dog experiencing excruciating pain trying to deliver the dead baby, the nurse came to attempt a maneuver to remove the baby manually, and this didn't work either because she noticed with her fingers that her birth canal was too narrow. After a few hours there, they came saying that according to the Rx, the head of the baby was to big (approximately 2.7, and the birth canal was only 2.1). Even though they could have noticed this from the beginning, they still tried to induce her to give birth on her own. My dog was pushing and pushing with no success. Then Dr. Ortiz came up with the idea and a quote for $2.5k to do a C-Section to remove the fetus. Thanks God we decided to leave that place at that time with the dead baby still inside and go to her regular vet the next morning. That night, we ended up paying approximately $900 between the Ultrasound the Rx and all the shots of oxytocin, calcium, antivomiting medication, etc. These people only care about money, they don't even know how to properly read the Rx and do a simple math to see from the beginning there was no way for my dog to deliver the baby by herself. After the C Section was successfully performed next morning by her regular Vet (way cheaper), we found out that all these unnecessary induced contractions caused the ingress of fluids into her abdominal cavity because her uterus busted. I don't want to generalize, but my impression is that the people working in this place are simply improvising and cooking numbers. read more

Staff was friendly and welcoming initially but in terms of care it was not genuine . Everyone had me waiting with my cat while they came up with an "estimate" for treatment ... they told me for hospitalization and IV I was looking at 4K for the night which I paid . They sat around in a group on computers eating snacks and joking while I was sitting waiting for my cat to get IV.... (They could have started her on IV but left her severely dehydrated which they told me initially before payment ) but didn't do a thing until they received payment ... They said once I pay they will start but only one staff member was actually helping and running around .... Making the issue seem less severe . Following they told Me overnight stay would Make her comfortable with an iPad to watch birds there was nothing . Numerous times IV was forming bubbles . And each time a new doctor rotation occurred each doctor gave me a different story on what was told Previously . I asked each doctor the same set of questions to hear if communication among staff was clear and it was not . From Thursday -Friday she declined significantly and they told Me she hasn't eaten or drank but once I got there and gave her food and water she did drink . Showing me that water was not actually given to her just placed in the cage . Then they advised me to pay 10K for ultrasound ... I took her to another facility the next day where my price was more reasonable and they conducted tests within an hour of be being at the new facility versus 1am-5am of just watching them sitting around to treat her . Overall staff operate via payment first then the care of the pet . I do not recommend this facility . read more

I do not recommend at all. The way they held my almost dying cat was inconceivable. Some of the staff lack bedside mannerism. I changed my mind about having my cat euthanized and that upset them, so they took it out on the poor baby. I wish I made a video of the way two of the female veterinary assistants held my cat's limp body that night, no sympathy at all. The cost of emergency care at the clinic is high, but I don't mind paying to receive the best care for any of my fur babies. Everyone's experience may differ, but ensure that you are present to monitor your babies' care. read more

I've not been to the new location but it's the same team and they are the best. Three times I took my dogs here for different things and always got wonderful treatment from compassionate people who work there. The last time I brought my pup in and it was to late, she passed on the way there of sudden heart failure. They were really so kind and I'm grateful to them. They let my husband and I stay in a little room to say goodbye and we couldn't bear staying to long but never was rushed n they took care of the cremation etc.Also they have fair prices , some or most really are rip offs read more

My soon to be 16 year old precious dog rapidly declined over a two week period - she was really suffering - i made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her instead of consenting to a possible surgery that possibly would have killed her or uncovered more medical problems such as cancer - this was a no win situation - I couldn't bear to see her suffering and woke early on Friday morning and took her to VEG on Ralph avenue - I was grateful they are located where there is ample parking as I was in no state to look for parking. As soon as I said out loud to a vet tech why I was there I burst out crying - I was led to a room where the nurse Jocelyn greeted me very warmly and compassionately - she listened to me attentively and patiently as I explained and handed me a box of tissues as I was sobbing uncontrollably- she shared a bit of her own journey loving and losing beloved pets - she really held space for me to grieve and I am very grateful for this - at some point Dr Ortiz cane in to speak with me - he also was incredibly caring and kind and held my Chloe with such tenderness and even kissed her forehead - this kindness and warmth was much needed medicine for both Chloe and myself - I knew I made the right decision coming here - Chloe was treated with great respect and dignity as the procedure took place - I was with her throughout - everything was explained to me and I held Chloe as she passed - Dr Ortiz then let me spend time alone with Chloe after she passed - I was grateful for that as well - thank you Jocelyn and thank you Dr.Ortiz for your kindness, attentiveness and compassion to both myself and Chloe read more

I called to inquire if they covered low cost care because a family I knew on public assistance had a cat urinating blood. They said they only charge 195$ for a check up. I asked if the family qualified for credit card- could they use that to pay for the 195$. They said yes. The family came to the clinic. For 195$ even though they knew what the symptoms were - cat urinating blood - they put a cone around cats head- gave a dental and muscular exam- took temperature and said there was nothing else they could do because bloodwork cost 500$. They examined the cat for everything but what it needed and sent them away with nothing and charged them 195$. Communication needs to be clear and transparent. If the family told you cat was urinating blood- then the vet should have been honest- we need bloodwork and that is an additional 500$ to the 195$. The bloodwork and or sonogram should have been correctly expressed to family to make best financial decision. But- they took the 195$ on credit and said there was nothing else they could do. I did not like my experience here they did nothing for my dog except take X-rays and Dr. Anderson trying to rush us to other locations to take an mri. Dr. Anderson telling me my dog isn't going to walk again and being passive aggressive and just not kind with the way she talks. I was offered no meds for his pain. They are very money hungry. The places they recommended to do a MRI some dont even do it or go by appointments only because I called to find out. I would have wasted my money and time if I had gone there. I was able to get a second opinion somewhere else got meds and was able book a mri and surgery at a fraction of the cost out in Long Island. The quotes they were giving me for surgery and a mri would have run be $25,000 from them and their recommendations. Please save your money and time. The only good thing about this place was the front desk lady she is such a sweetheart. read more

We brought our dog, Sadie, here on a late night in April 2023 and the medical staff were kind and tried their best to diagnose my dog. They lacked a radiologist so could not offer a more comprehensive ultrasound. They did an X-ray but referred me to VERG for specialty diagnostics. I give a positive review/3 stars for the sweet medical nurse and the doctor but dock two stars for the inconsiderate front desk woman. While we waited for Xray results in the lobby, another dog came in and the front desk woman came up to us and addressed our dog to say that other dogs have it worse than Sadie does. Sadie died of metastatic bone cancer a few short weeks later. You cannot judge the severity of someone's medical status. I would think she would have known better and wished she had not said anything at all. Compassion is key in this type of work...or so I hope. read more

The Ralph Avenue location was absolutely horrendous. We found a stray kitten and had been caring for her when she suddenly became limp and unresponsive. Took her to this emergency location and they stated she had fluid in her lungs and was critically ill. They would not provide treatment without $6,000 upfront which was not affordable. They suggested we euthanize if we couldn't afford care. Thankfully my gut said to bring her home and get a second opinion. Upon bringing her home she rested and became responsive again. She ate and drank later in the day without issue. The next day we received a second opinion and they said she is perfectly healthy but had low blood sugar due to being abandoned by the mom too early. They found no fluid in her lungs and no illness. This clinic would have killed a perfectly healthy kitten because they wouldn't look further without $6,000. I'm disgusted by the lack of compassion. Obviously they have no clue what to look for and only care about money. If you love your pet avoid this place at all costs read more
