Twice in six months we've had to take my pupper in at night. First time was Dr. Mak back in November. This time Dr. Chung was there, then Dr. Miller took over and ran with him through his recovery. Both times there was a full team there--people coordinating, moving fast, staying calm. They explained what was happening without talking down to us. Just focused on getting our dog through it. Extremely knowledgeable and patient-oriented. I'm not great at these reviews but I needed to say it somewhere--they genuinely SAVED HIS LIFE this time. We're grateful doesn't even cover it, but that's the honest version. If you need emergency vet care in Brooklyn, they're the people to call! A big THANK YOU to everyone like Abigail, David, and many more I can't remember from the heat of the moment. I'll be sure to be more careful, in hopes I never need their services again.

I took my beloved 14 year old cat Benjamin to VEG last night around 11pm. He has never been sick before and I was extremely worried and emotional. I was met with kindness and respect from literally every person working last night including the security guard at the front door. I wish I had gotten everyone's name. I was able to check in online during my Uber ride to hospital and was immediately taken back to the ER. I was brought tissues and a cup of water as Benji's vitals were taken and was quickly assured his vitals were normal. Dr. Cale Toews examined Benji thoroughly and gave me several options for treatment plans and the differing costs of each plan. I did not feel rushed or persuaded towards one plan over another and he made it clear I could ask as many questions as I needed to feel comfortable. Thank you so much Dr. Toews, you were so kind and reassuring. Other thank yous: thank you so much to the woman who greeted Benji, brought me water, and settled me in the ER; thank you so much to the vet tech that administered Benji's fluids and antibiotics; thank you to the tech that took his vitals immediately and reassured me he was stable. PS: I'm surprised at the one star reviews here but recognize that being in an emergency situation with your pet is extremely difficult. While I was there last night a true emergency came in with a cat that didn't make it. The owner was rightfully distressed and defensive and the VEG team took great care in de-escalating while focusing on how to make the cat as comfortable as possible. I was very impressed.

    BabyGirl...God's sweetest Blessing to me...

I would like to start by thanking every single person that was present on that night. On 04/02/25 at Midnight...I was frightened...heart-broken and torn between feeling ungrateful to God for not wanting to let my Baby go and compassion to let her be in peace. The staff was skilled...kind and educational to me, in a state of confusion. BabyGirl would have been 19 on Mother's Day. I adopted her when my Mom passed. Your gentleness to her was so appreciated. To the staff...I send you nothing but thanks and Blessings. To the Doctor...please know that I will never forget those last moments with her.

I was there the third time in two years and I always left with a happy face because Doctors are AMAZING there!!!!! I Thanked the Team and All Doctors for Everything they have done to make my baby boy happy and myself as well.

this was the fb post we responded to. Went late at night to rescue him to just be taken away by VEG and put at ACC

If I could give a negative 5 review, I would. I am a rescuer and my friend and I rescued a very friendly orange cat 2 nights ago bc someone posted him on FB. We rushed there and managed to get him. He was extremely friendly, but hungry and dirty. We wanted to do the right thing and brought him to VEG (it was after 10pm) to scan for microchip. We had 2 rescues and several individual lined up to adopt him, but wanted to make sure he was not someone's lost pet. A front desk person got the carrier and brought to the back to scan the cat. When she came out, the cat was not with her. She informed us that bc he is microchipped, she can not give him back to us. We were shocked, but trusted the process. We said we are going to wait there till she finds out if the cat has an owner. She tried to call, but there was no answer. We asked when can we find out if the cat has an owner and if one is not found, when can we pick him up. Rayana (spelling?) said that if I leave my information, she will contact me and let me know and if no owner is found, I can come and get the cat. We walked out satisfied although very disappointed. No one called me the next day so I called and inquired about the cat. I was told in a very cold tone of voice that since I surrendered the cat, they are not giving me any information. You can imagine how I felt. I explained numerous times that I never ever agreed to surrender him and had people that wanted to adopt him and we only brought him in to scan for a chip. The woman was very rude and transferred to front desk. A person at a front desk informed me that since I surrendered the cat, there is nothing she can tell me about the animal and to check ACC in several days. I was beside myself and asked to speak to a manager, she refused. Several people called VEG on Ralph ave trying to see how we can get the cat that we rescued from the street back with no luck. They were rude and even yelled at one of the rescuers. We all are devastated and heartbroken and want our cat back. We did not rescue him from the street for him to end up at ACC where he will get sick or worth - put down. He is totally adoptable and super friendly and healthy. Please do not repeat our mistake - do not bring your animal there. They will take them away and you will not be able to follow up or find out what happened to the animal. Horrifying experience.

Pricey, but would visit again in an emergency. They took great care of my lil guy, even if it wasn't pocketbook-friendly.

I must highlight the entire ICU staff as I have never seen people that were so involved with their patients as well as the families. The Doctor that took care of our pet deserves to be mentioned. Dr. Curtis Rheingold took such amazing care of our beautiful pet and showed such empathy to our entire family. I have never met a doctor like him. He was with our pet for days and gave her the best care possible and I am comforted in knowing that he did everything humanly possible to keep her alive and comfortable. Thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at VERG. From the time we walked in to the time we left . A painful experience was handled with such grace and care. Thank you Dr. Rheingold . I will never ever forget all you did for our beloved pet. Thank you VERG! With much gratitude, the Siedman family.

I brought my cat to VERG Animal Center on August 13th to see an internal medicine specialist…read morebecause of persistent diarrhea. He had already been treated for Tritrichomonas by his regular veterinarian, and the specialist recommended repeating the test to confirm that the infection had actually been cleared. I was told that once the results were available, we would discuss the next steps and develop a treatment plan. I brought in the requested stool sample the very next day, August 14th. Today is August 25th, and I still have no results, no treatment plan, and no communication from the internal medicine department whatsoever. I have called and left four messages, sent an email, and specifically requested that an office manager call me back. Despite all of these attempts, nobody has returned my call or contacted me to discuss my cat's care. I paid approximately $350 for the internal medicine consultation, and at this point the entire visit feels pointless because there has been absolutely no follow-up or continuity of care. I understand that veterinary hospitals can be busy, but 11 days with no response after submitting a requested diagnostic sample--and after repeatedly contacting the hospital--is unacceptable, especially when this involves an ongoing medical problem and a treatment plan that was supposed to be discussed based on the test results. The biggest issue here is not even the delay itself; it is the complete lack of communication and accountability. I should not have to repeatedly chase a specialty veterinary hospital just to get an update on my pet's test results and treatment. I expected much better from a specialty hospital and would not recommend VERG based on this experience.

Joanna responded immediately and she also was able to get a hold of a couple of strong volunteers to help lift our dog into the cab. She swiftly transported us to the ER where Joanna got out of the cab and made sure that personnel brought a gurney for my shepherd who could not walk & was promptly admitted. Joanna was so caring and kind during this terribly upsetting time. I had to call upon her again when our shepherd was discharged a week later and had to be brought to the vets for medical boarding. Joanna also sent her son to transport us and he is a truly lovely young man and equally as helpful. I again called upon Joanna when our Shepard needed to go to AMC for a check up and transportation back to the vets for another week of medical boarding. Pet Cab was so prompt so professional so caring Joanna is simply the greatest. and I will be calling upon her again because our dog. will need further transport. Transporting an 84 pound German shepherd is not an easy task and requires a lot of assistance and Joanna was always able to find assistance since neither of us could lift such a large dog. I simply cannot say enough good things about Pet Cab as a company they are reasonable reliable and just such lovely people. I very highly recommend them to anyone who needs to transport an animal.
