How is street parking in the surrounding area and are there any parking garages that URvet Care validates or has discounts with?

No parking lot, it's Midtown so better to take a bus or taxi if you can't walk to the destination. There's extremely limited street parking.

But there were no surprises and we were guided through the various test options along the way to help control the cost. All of the ladies working there and the doctor were so professional and clearly dedicated to their jobs. They were very gentle with our sick cat and patient with us worried parents. And after we'd gone home they kept calling to check in on our cat to see if we had any other questions or concerns. They were so wonderful. Again the costs kicked our butt but in an emergency they were amazing.

Called this place after doing an extensive search for a decently rated pet ER (not many around me). I am so thankful there is at least one, and they're open 'round the clock. Was placed in an examination room and was seen fairly quickly by a tech for vitals, followed by the vet (I swear I tried so hard to remember her name to give her a personal shout out but stress took away my memory). She was awesome. Thorough and caring. While nothing appeared to be an evident emergency, my cat was clearly suffering from something hurting him. Recommended course of action seemed slightly excessive, but this vet truly stepped up to help me out. I consented to an xray, which indicated constipation. Treatment included sub-q hydration, anti-nausea medication, and a laxative. Cat had never been poked and prodded so much in his life. But he was such a good boy, and thankfully never bit or scratched- just growled and hissed. I would have too, little buddy!! I truly, sincerely appreciate knowing my boy doesn't have any bowel obstruction or anything worse. Great relief that we'll manage with the laxative and hopefully he'll be good as new. Thank you to the Vet Tech and the assistant who were both so helpful and supportive (and whose names I also forgot). Great team. I really, really love that every staff member called my boy "friend" and treated him like their own.

The staff was phenomenal: kind, compassionate to both our cat and us (we are a queer couple so this matters considering our general experience in the world as of late). The front desk people - we were there till 2 am so multiple shifts - without exception were kind and caring. The doctor (Peter Arena) was informative and honest, patient and generous with time and care. I am so sorry I don't remember the name of the rest of the staff - the doctor's name is on our discharge papers and I was quite delirious from exhaustion by the end. They quoted us slightly more at first but it turned out to be not as bad so we got refunded a bit. This is such a stressful time/event and everyone made it bearable. Our cat was purring and wobbling around when we got home so she didn't seem traumatized. Thank you to all the staff on the night of Saturday January 3rd - January 4th.

I showed the nurse right away and was told it could be an initial transfusion reaction. I was terrified and pleaded for help, but was told all tests had been completed and he was still sent home. The doctor never spoke to me. Over the next three hours, I watched him deteriorate -- breathing heavily, confused, and clearly in distress -- while I was completely powerless to help him in his time of need. No words can capture how painful and traumatic it was to witness. St. James lived such a beautiful, joyful life, and he deserved comfort and dignity at the end -- not this. We are left completely heartbroken and still without answers as to what caused his death.

Is the way that this place goes about discussing financial costs and paying your bill shady and blurry as far as ethics? Abso-f...ing-lutely!! The one rating because no amount of kindness or talking to me in an annoying baby voice could erase the trauma, and financial manipulation my family experienced. I am not going to tell to go here, but I will recommend that before you go, please level set, maybe talk to a loved one or even a trusted neighbor/coworker to come up with a number that is feasible for you, no judgement of it feels too high or too low, but absolutely be ready to walk away if the number that VERG quotes you is even a dollar above that, because it will eventually be more. Our cat went in upon recommendation from our vet after being sick for almost 6 week, we discovered she swallowed something that punctured her intestines. It required surgery, the doctor was very optimistic about her chances at recovery, she was only two after all. In hindsight, she was very depleted already and likely not a good surgery candidate. Below, you'll find pics of letter I wrote to VERG on 12/21 in my apple notes, expressing my utter frustrations snd despair with the whole situation. I ultimately did not send because shortly after I got a call from Dr. H saying (after spending over 15k), they were going to be gracious enough to not charge me anymore . Though, that also meant that our cat would no longer receive any treatment. She was euthanized 2 days later. Sorry if it's not chronological, Yelp uploaded it weirdly.

What an incredible group of people!…read more My dog is susceptible to pneumonia and when he had a wet cough on a Sunday, I knew it couldn't wait for his primary vet on Monday. In the past we went ton other emergency vets and unfortunately it was always a long wait, you were away from your dog the entire time, and they wouldn't release your dog to you until after you paid. VEG is different than all those places. We were seen immediately and while they do have an open concept ER, they gave us a private room just in case. The nurse (Diana) and the vet (Dr. Schwartz) were all incredible. They took such good care of our dog and us! They allow you to be with your pet during X-rays which I found amazing. No paying first then waiting for your pet to be discharged. You're as hands on as you're comfortable being. Amazing place.

What is there to say besides don't trust this place with your pet, your time or your money…read more To say we had a negative experience would at this point be an understatement. The behavior this practice has exhibited has been avoidant, evasive and disappointing. I called distressed after my dog was having complications healing from surgery after a lipoma removal. We arrived on a busy Sunday and were taken at the end of a triage. During our time there I voiced to MULTIPLE techs that my dog was bleeding through his gauze. 2/3 responses were a deadpan stare and the words "ok". It took 3 times of me asking/ pleading for someone to listen to me. Even then I was armed with loose gauze and a wee wee pad. When we were finally seen I was so relieved i let this all fall away. I was so happy my pet was taken care of I went home following their orders and protocol. The next day I realized all the sutures at the site had fallen out and we were back at square one after spending hundreds of dollars. Naturally I was upset and placed a call to the location. I was placed on an infinite hold 3 times with no answer until i called from my friend's phone to which they picked up immediately. I have been calling every day since Monday with not a single person giving me a call back or without any financial compensation for the negligent job they did. I have given them since Monday to give me a call back and fix this. I've called every day without a call back. So if you don't care about your pets or spending unnecessary money this is the place for you!

This place, and the caring people in it, made a very difficult day more bearable…read more I came in knowing that I was going to have to put my almost sixteen year old cat down, and as we pet parents know, Sidney was more than a cat to me - he was family. He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

My second visit to VEG, two years after my first, was for a completely different issue for my cat…read more Once again the team descended upon me and my boy immediately, and calmly and thoroughly triaged him and took me through all the intake questions. I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

Supposedly, management(?) has changed? My story: I knew my dog was elderly and had some kind of "issue". For $995, they gave him a shot (not a drip) of saline for hydration and standard blood panel. And, this was only after I had paid and was ready to walk out after almost 2 hours of waiting. ( I get that ERs can be busy, But really? As soon as I was leaving, they *sprang* into action.) Then, I was told that my dog had major kidney failure. Ok. 16 y.o. dog. Not surprising. But, he was not that sick. Them: "You can have him put down now for the low fee of $$$$. RIGHT NOW". Huh?
