At a time of pet health crisis, I depended on Yelp reviews to choose an emergency vet, so I want to pay it forward and add my 5 stars for VEG. I have nothing but praise for the staff and doctors at this location. From the first call, we were welcomed and our sick kitty was treated with the highest level of care. Our journey included surgery and a several-day stay which was made so much easier with update calls from the vets and the ability to visit in person at any time. Over the week we were there, I believe we met every doctor and most of the staff and techs and couldn't be more impressed and grateful for the level of care and support. While I hope you never need pet emergency care, if you should, this is the place to come. read more

Called ahead to see about a wait time for my dog who had allergies and was scratching incessantly. the tech rightly informed me there was no wait. We got triaged right away and eventually saw Dr. Newsome. She is very nice and professional as were the techs. It took a little while to get to the meds my dog needed but there was another dog in there that had more serious issues so it was understandable. Once we got the meds (my dog needed sedation and then had to wake up) we were good to go. It's pricey but we got seen right away and got professional meds and take home meds and the care and compassion were great. I'll go back if I we have another emergency. read more

Raced to VEG after my bloodhound woke with panting. He had earlier eaten a HUGE amount of cheese off the counter earlier in the evening. Fearing bloat, we made our way. Dr Nina and the team greeted us and quickly x rayed and determined it was NOT bloat. Fantastic service and while I hope to never need their services again, I will sleep better knowing they are there. Has been about a year. We took our puppy that we had rescued here. He was sick and nobody could figure anything out. We specifically went here for endoscopy. We were refused the procedure. Had they of done the endoscope, they would have found the needle in his gut. It now resides with his ashes on a shelf. Thanks VEG!! read more

The past 48 hours have been more chaotic then I could ever imagine. I thought my dads wreck was unbearable until I'm dead center of a emergency vet clinic with my 10 year old, CoCo bulldog being pushed to the priority list due to a ruptured spleen. The place was packed with other emergency pet cases and the doctors and nurses literally were so organized and efficient that not one thing went missed. We literally almost lost her. Dr Cocker and her team moved fast with pure confidence. After emergency surgery, they let me stay with her all night in the middle of the room so CoCo and I were monitored all day and night. They even let Jimmy Dean stay for moral support. They saved my babies life. My heart is so grateful for the doctors that took care of us and for my American Express to have a high limit for us to stay at the VEG Luxury All Inclusive Resort Coco is home now and resting. She is drinking water, eating 5 star dinners and escorted around what is now called her CoCo Cadillac until she can get back on her feet. I can't thank all the doctors and nurses for keeping my baby alive. I'm incredibly impressed with the way things were handled. read more

Took my dog here at 4 am after nonstop vomiting all night. Can I just say, I need whatever the staff is taking to be so cheerful and helpful at that hour of the day. I was so out of it and stressed and everyone who worked there was so lovely and understanding. My nose started bleeding I'm assuming from the stress of dealing with a sick dog and a nurse immediately got me tissues and was so kind and made it a funny situation. The vet that saw my dog broke down my two options, explained the cheaper treatment option and the more expensive investigative option, and even encouraged me to do the cheaper option and then observe my dog at home to see if anything else came up, which I really appreciate because I feel as though a lot of vets use shame as a tactic to get you to pick the more expensive services. I hope to never have to go to an emergency vet again, but if I do I will definitely go straight to VEG read more

Incredibly wonderful experience! Doctors and vet techs that actually care about both pet and people! They are treating our Schnauzer mix for pancreatitis and are patient and thorough in providing information and talking through decisions. Clean. Well-staffed. Provides info at 3 pm for the anxious pet parent. They even offered to set up a cot for me to stay overnight! Right off 75 at Knox/Henderson, we hope not to return but would in an instant. read more

It's always unfortunate when you have to take your pup to the ER. This was my first time taking ours in because I thought she had consumed a wild mushroom. I found VEG because they had a booth at my local dog park and handed out magnets, toys, etc. Luckily I had their magnet on my fridge. Prior to my arrival, I called in and a vet picked up right away. No confusing automated systems or long hold times. She was patient, kind and answered all my questions. When I arrived the place seemed quite busy, but I was greeted and triaged at the reception immediately. Within minutes, two veterinarians briefed on the situation came out with a scribe to the waiting area to ask me more about my concerns and the events leading up to the visit. They listened to my concerns, efficiently asked questions, and suggested treatment options. I brought the remaining parts of the mushroom that my dog consumed and they quickly looked through it, did their best to identify it as likely nontoxic, and gave their thoughts about the situation. I felt as if they were genuine, honest, knowledgeable, and cared about my pup. Because my visit was brief they also decided not to charge me for the visit, which was totally unexpected! The customer service, care rendered, and overall environment exceeded any and all expectations I had for bringing my pup to the ER. If I ever have an emergency again I know I'll make the trip out to VEG. Thank you! read more

I've taken a few months before I wrote this. I lost my sweet baby Juno in September after noticing his breathing was short. I took him to VEG the same afternoon and the staff was nothing but amazing. From calling and getting the information and assurance I needed to know I needed to bring him in to every single dr and tech being amazing. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do to help him but they really made sure I had all the information I needed to make such a hard choice to let him sleep. I felt so seen and taken care of in the midst of an awful awful day. They cared for Juno like their own and made sure we were able to have ample time before saying goodbye. I can't thank you enough for what you did for me and my baby that day. All I wanted was for him not to suffer and you helped me do that. I am endlessly grateful. read more

Wow! Truly incredible! Our cat had a seizure late in the evening. We called and asked what to do. They let us know that we should come in. We arrived, and it was like a scene out of a show, they had a table ready for our cat with a board with her name and Illness, a tech and a vet. This was my first veterinary emergency. I had been fostering my precious Theodore for only 8 days. He had been a stray and was already underweight, and suffering from what I thought was canine influenza. During those 8 days, I had been keeping him on bed rest and loving him hoping to restore his health. On the 8th day, his scrotum ruptured from an inept neutering procedure and he was bleeding. There was no vet at the local municipal shelter so my friend and fellow foster parent brought Theodore to VEG. I am so grateful we did. The team there was so very kind to my precious boy. They examined him and diagnosed him skillfully and found that in addition to his underweight body condition, and infected scrotum, he was also suffering from pneumonia and an enlarged liver. The team at VEG helped me understand that my poor Theodore was suffering and to my very great sadness convinced me that I should let him go. They were so skilled, kind, and compassionate at VEG, that I will be forever grateful to them. I encourage anyone to take their pet to VEG. Giving one star back for the excellent post- survey followed up. Dr. Parkinson, the medical director of the facility it called me back this morning in response to the survey that I returned to them. He was warm, and kind, and asked how my baby was doing right off the bat. He refunded my monitoring charge, recognized the deficiency in care that evening with regard to lack of monitoring, and welcomed the constructive feedback wholly. I am confident that this will reflect in the care given going forward, and I'm happy to recommend this facility and should I find myself in a situation needing vet care outside of my normal vet's office hours, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this facility. read more

I took my dog to this emergency group and they were very busy. Once they got to Belle (my dog) I was allowed to stay with her while they were running tests. Each test they ran seemed to indicate that they needed to do further testing. I was told the price of what it was going cost for all the work they said my dog needed, and I agreed to all of it because I was very vulnerable. Tears spilled out of my eyes with each step they needed to complete. They were putting my dog through so much. They asked me to leave her overnight which I was hesitant to do. She has never been boarded in her 6 years. I knew my dog would be traumatized by leaving her. But I was led to believe it was in her best interest. The bill kept getting bigger and bigger. I kept giving my consent for them to do more work on her to find out what could possibly be wrong. In the end each test they ran was inconclusive. If you are a dog owner you know how I must of felt. You will do anything for your furry best friend. Unfortunately I don't think I was thinking as clearly as I should. I had spent at least ten hours there the first day and I left feeling pretty empty. I left my dog in their care. Once again I agreed to another test. One that was more invasive We had done X-rays and sonograms which they have on site. (Very convenient to have all these devices in one place) I thought that they could diagnose her. The options they gave me didn't look favorable . I was beside myself. Going home I thought this is crazy. The next day they were going to biopsy her liver and biopsy her bile duct for bacteria. I just wanted my dog to be back to her normal self. They told me what time they were going to do biopsies and I got there early so I could tell them I don't think she needs the biopsies When I got there she was coming out of the operating room. She was over drugged and really didn't get back to herself until 48 hours I have had dogs sedated before for various reasons and I have never seen a dog that was so drugged. I felt she was in pain. The vet had told me when she came in she had a tender stomach . That was really all that had caused all these tests. We were sent home after another 10 hour day with antibiotics for possible bacteria and something for pain. They sent her home and I needed to watch her because she could possibly have internal bleeding from the biopsies They had preformed another sonogram before we left to see if they could see any bleeding in her stomach. I do not know exactly how many sonograms they did. Traumatized and exhausted I took her home waiting to hear from VEG to what I needed to do after they had a culture grown from the bacteria they took and to have her liver check for malignancies and shunts. Guess what. I never heard from them. They found nothing wrong with her. She was healthy. This cost me a mere fortune and I am not upset about the money. I am upset because what my dog HAD TO GO THROUGH . Before your spend your hard earned money and if your dog is not critical and dying don't let them take advantage I never do reviews but I couldn't keep quite. I just need to inform all the animal owners who will do anything to help their pets. read more

Dr Connor efficiently diagnosed my dog and then helped us get immediate treatment from one of few Neurologists in Dallas. Dr Connor recognized a rare issue and we are blessed that she saved my dog's life. I do not say that lightly- we were there because his condition escalated after being reviewed by a primary care vet and radiologist just 2 days prior. For those of you with less rare issues- the staff was attentive, technology is advanced creating a quick check in, their wait times are much faster than neighboring clinics, and the setup is open so there is transparency with what is happening in the clinic with your pet and where you are in line. read more

10/10 recommend this place. I can't thank the staff enough for helping my puppy Coco. I would like to specifically mention Dr. Conner. I think all the Drs here are great, but she has been with us the past 3x we have been. She is very intelligent and caring. Even if I ever move an hour away, I would still come here for emergencies to have her see my pet. She is just that great. Also the techs (I think we had Mari and Makenzie) were so sweet and loving towards my dog. They treated her like she was their own dog. They even sent me pics of her after hours. I think that is such a nice touch when you are at home worried about your dog and unable to sleep. To get a photo and know that they are in good hands and okay is so reassuring. We have been to a couple other emergency vets in the Dallas area, but nothing compares to this place. I definitely recommend bringing your animals here! I would also like to point out the other vets in the area do not let you be with your pet or enter the building. This place will let you come inside and be with your pet during the time. I cannot recommend this place enough. We've been here twice and 2 weeks ago we had to take our baby Dixie because she was really sick- she didn't want to eat anything or drink anything. Turns out she had parvo but she was seen so quick and received amazing care and she is perfectly fine now. Special shout out to Hannah. While giving my baby and injection (which of course had her crying) Hannah was so sweet and caring. We live in Mesquite. On July 4th, at the time I-30 was clogged with folks watching fireworks, our 14-year old cat started bleeding from her left eye. OMG! Our after-hours vet was closing and they suggested that we head to VEG. What a blessing. Dr. Marhanka and tech, Gyuanna, rushed us into triage. The two of them worked swiftly to determine no outward injury to Harriet's head, ears or mouth and, used drops to determine that she had no scratches or abrasions on her eye. Harriet was deemed stable - no unnecessary expense - no unreasonable tests - and suggested that, besides the kidney disease we told them about, we should follow up with our regular vet because Dr. Marhanka thought Harriet might have high blood pressure. The receptionist was exceptional, too. Kind and gentle with our cat, I cannot praise VEG enough. Oh, and Dr. Marhanka was right on the diagnosis. Harriet is now on blood pressure medicine and no more eye bleeds. We will be going to VEG again. read more

So today has been a hard day. 2 weeks ago I lost one of my fur babies and today I had to put my other one to sleep. VEG went above and beyond to help me. I live 1 1/2 hours from here but any local place near me said 5-6 hours before they could even see her. My fur baby 17 was in her final stages, ready to pass on her own. Dr. Tyler took amazing care of her and ONLY had her best interest in mind. Of course my CC was declined do to fraud I didn't know about. (Actually bank being over protective and all charges were right) His techs alerted him to her breathing and he came right in. He explained that she was in her final moments and to worry about payment after we take care of her. His kindness and heart went a long way! He had a hard time getting a line in her due to dehydration and said he had to do this another way. I wasn't about to leave my baby alone so he made sure I did not see how it was done (he did explain) and all I had to do was comfort my baby. He and his staff were so caring and made me feel at peace or as best as one can be in this situation. Let's just say that I am so glad I did the drive because VEG went above and beyond. I would have no problem taking any injured emergency to them in the future. My baby has crossed over to Rainbow Bridge but she had a caring health team by her side! read more

From start to finish everything was perfect. The atmosphere and attitude at VEG separates them from the rest. The team loves what they do so much it's palpable. The open room concept makes asking for help easy and everyone could check on us with a glance. Being able to stay with May made it way less scary for both of us, too. Without going into too much detail, we needed some help on 2/14 with an pet whose injury had to do with this weekend's snowstorm, and no other vet in the area that we called was able to get us in. My experience here was unreal. Everyone was so helpful and nice. The receptionist saw how sad we were because of the situation with our dog and offered us water, to talk or even just a shoulder to lean on. I cannot thank VEG for saving my baby!! When we went to his regular vet for an emergency follow up and were forced to wait for 5 hours to see a doctor, he had worsened to the point that he could not walk and was throwing up every time he moved. VEG took him in and immediately started measures that ended up saving him. He had to stay for five days post-surgery (intestinal blockage) and I was able to visit and be with him at any time (24 hrs/day-7 days/week). While I was there I also got to see them with dogs, cats, and birds of all shapes and sizes and they are just exceptional. On top of that, they have water, snacks, etc available for the pet parents. I called ahead when needing medical attention for my dog after a dog fight. VEG's online check-in process was so easy and as soon as I arrived at the clinic they were able to see us right away. VEG was our last chance to save our dog. We had completed surgery for our elderly dog and her glucose levels were crashing. We had been referred to VEG and the staff was incredibly attentive. As soon as we walked in the staff was quick to act. They were extremely welcoming and we were with our dog every moment. We could not be thankful enough for helping our dog on death's door that evening. We were lucky enough to level out her glucose levels for her to come home. With the ice storm coming in we had to go home and could not stay overnight but the vet was incredible on sending updates frequently/answering questions via text in a moments notice. This place is unique among emergency vets. I have been there 3 times, and each was a great experience. They have an open floor plan, where you can see everything that's happening and have access to staff at all times. They allow you to stay with your pet throughout, not sitting in a waiting room or in your car. This is such a stress reliever, for both the pet and the owner. They tell you everything that's going on, and are great about answering questions. The staff is friendly and caring, and obviously love what they do. I want to thank Melissa and Dr. Lake, who helped my dog Zoe through a recent painful episode. I was able to watch while they did a sonogram and explained everything they were (and weren't) seeing. While Dr. Lake was running tests, Melissa came over multiple times to keep me updated and later took me to the computer so I could see the results myself. They made me feel like Zoe was their most valuable client, not just another case passing through. Another time, I had an emergency with another of my dogs and had no way to get him there immediately, so I called instead. A doctor got on the phone with me and walked me though what I could do, even if I couldn't get to the facility. Who does that?? This place, that's who!
