I brought my cat last Friday July 24th and her two newborn kittens to this emergency hospital on July 24, 2026, because one kitten was critically weak. A wonderful nurse immediately checked the kittens and found one had dangerously low blood sugar. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour and half Dr. Alexander Bingham told us our kitten had no chance of survival and strongly recommended euthanasia, saying she would die within hours and nothing will help her. We refused to give up. Another doctor gave the kitten corn syrup, and she became more responsive almost immediately. He came again saying that its agony movements... We took her home, kept her warm, bottle-fed (that we bought in petsmart) her, and today she is completely healthy and thriving ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That same day, my cat was later diagnosed with a deceased kitten still inside her. Dr. Alexander Bingham repeatedly pushed for emergency surgery and spaying.Wheny I asked why spaying he said "it's just how I work". However, after receiving oxytocin, she naturally delivered the kitten herself just before surgery, making the procedure unnecessary. She also made a full recovery. The bright spot of our experience was nurse Amanda R. Anette, whose kindness, compassion, and empathy meant everything during one of the hardest days of our lives. My biggest disappointment was Dr. A.Bingham's lack of empathy, poor communication and speaking faster than you can hear. Absolutely willingness to give up so quickly and trying KILL instead treating. Instead of offering hope or discussing all possible options, he immediately recommended euthanasia for a kitten that is alive and healthy today because of mine and my fiancee stubbornness. I am incredibly grateful for the nurses and the second doctor (I don't know her name) who gave my pets a chance. Without them, the outcome could have been very different. Veg Nanuet provided impeccable service. Our cat had an emergency health issue and needed to be brought in right away. We called ahead and explained the situation and were assured due to the seriousness (as she was in much pain) her care would be prioritized. Upon arrival, the staff had a table all ready for us, and immediate action was taken to prep her for examination. It was respectfully, professionally, and tactfully communicated to us the exact diagnosis our cat was under, along with the reasons why that conclusion could be made. Unfortunately it was a fatal condition and nothing could be done besides relieving her pain. She lived a long and happy life of 18 years. Despite the outcome, the staff was empathetic and supportive during the process and afterwards. The loss of a pet is never easy, but the way the situation was handled was the best it could have been. I would first like to start off by saying THANK YOU to the staff at VEG for being so caring and loving to my dog during a difficult time. I took my dog on a Sunday at midnight to VEG because my dog was not acting like himself. Turns out that a mass on his spleen ruptured and was internally bleeding. The doc that night was sympathetic and honest. She helped us have a smooth transition to another hospital for more in depth information about what was going on with my dog. Long story short my dog ended up having his spleen removed and was transferred to VEG for an overnight stay for close monitoring. The staff that night was amazing too! They kept my dog comfy and kept us informed as well. I live really close to VEG and they had told us to come see my dog, Mikey as many times as we wanted. They would even set up a little place for us to sleep if we decided we didn't want to leave Mikey alone. They have pillows, blankets, a snack station equipped with tea, coffee and snacks. VEG is not only about the immediate care for your fur baby but also putting pet parents mind at ease as well. In case anyone has read this far, my dog is CANCER FREE!! Thank you again to all the wonderful staff we encountered along the way. You are all a blessing and I will be speaking highly you all. 100% would recommend to anyone seeking emergency care. The space was very clean and well organized, which instantly helped put me at ease in a stressful moment. The veterinarian, Adam Stever who cared for Romeo, was absolutely incredible. Compassionate, gentle, and incredibly patient. He took the time to make sure Romeo wasn't frightened or overwhelmed, and he explained everything to me thoroughly and with kindness. You could tell he genuinely cares about animals and the people who love them. While emergency care is never cheap, I found their pricing to be fair and reasonable given the high quality of care and attention we received. Yes, the wait was long, but that is part of what comes with emergency care, and it was well worth it to know my puppy was in such good hands. Just wow. I was even blown away by the phone call I had with this hospital prior to them even knowing me or my dog Bruce! I spoke with someone on the phone who was very sweet and even offered to put the doctor on the phone prior to me coming in just for some advice on what to do with my dogs situation. I've never heard of the doctor coming onto the phone prior to meeting the pet and that absolutely blew me away. I knew I was making the absolute best decision coming here for an emergency. Bruce had something going on with his eye, green boogers, closed shut, all the works. So I had called Oradell, Blue Pearl, and AERA. All of which had a 6+ hour wait!!!!! I came across this hospital online and saw it had good reviews and thought let me give it a shot. Like I said above, I spoke with someone and drove their immediately. Prior to arriving there, they sent me a link to fill out (which was super convenient because there's nothing worse than filling out paperwork when you're all anxious). They knew who we were when we walked in and took us in right away. I actually really liked the lay out of the place. They brought me to the back which is where all the cages and workers are. At first I was like well this interesting but then I realized everything that was going to happen with Bruce will happen right in front of me. There is nothing more comforting then watching my dog get treated in front of me so I know exactly what is going on. Dr. Amelia Nuwer was fantastic! She stained Bruce's eye and had me look at what she was seeing and explained all those fancy Veterinarian terms. The entire staff was SO helpful - I can't say it enough. They provided me with a bunch of different ophthalmologist's for Bruce to follow up with, they treated me and my dog with such kindness and most importantly kept telling me how darn cute Bruce is :)!!!! Our cat, yuzu, was lethargic and needed medical attention late in the day. We went to VEG and was treated with great speed, love, attention and expertise for both us and the cat. One star off for the pricing. It's not cheap. But, they are only open at night. So I guess they deserve a bit more money than normal..... The facility is setup for emergency triage and seemed well equipped. Our Dr., who recently came from Canada, spent lot of time with us and answered all questions. I really liked her and her staff. My 14 year old dog had a sudden, what we think was either a stroke or brain aneurysm, and had to bring him in immediately. The wonderful staff was so attentive, empathetic and caring, it made a horrible situation a bit better. Having to leave our pup overnight was very scary for us but the staff reassured us a numerous amount of times that we are free to stop by anytime and for as long as we wanted. We were able to stay with our dog every step of the way. All her treatments were administered right in front of us. They explained absolutely everything they were gonna do and why (more than once). My mom was in a bind. She was unable to drive all the way to her regular vet to pick up fluids for her 18 year old cat with kidney failure. I'm in California or I'd have driven over there. We wanted to see if someone closer to home would sell her the fluids - without seeing the cat. We hoped we could have her regular vet provide a prescription. We called Veterinary Emergency Group and spoke with Paul. He seemed genuinely disinterested in helping. He finally agreed to talk to someone, but hung up without getting my mom's contact info. Have taken my cat here twice during emergencies. Both times have been great experiences. Staff and doctors have been exceptionally friendly and helpful. I wish I could remember the doctor's name who took care of him the first time because he was great. I don't usually take the time out to write reviews, but I must say after my wonderful experience with Veterinary Emergency Group in Nanuet I feel compelled to do so. I needed to make a same day appointment for my cat Merlin (the love of my life:) due to some mysterious sores that appeared on his mouth that morning that had me very concerned. His regular doctor was not in the office that day, but the staff at Orangetown Animal Hospital recommended I try the Veterinary Emergency Group, so I brought him in right away. Dr. Joffe and her assistant Olivia took care of us immediately. Not only were they both very gentle and caring with my Merlin, but their knowledge and skill made me feel very confident that he was in excellent hands. Sam at the front desk was wonderful too! I also noticed that the facility was extremely clean, which is obviously very important as well... The next day, I received an email with a detailed report of our visit/diagnosis. This was also emailed to my primary veterinarian so they will have everything they need to know when I have a follow up visit next week. After being attacked by a 15lb French Bulldog (not kidding!) my 110lb sweet as pie Pit Bull mix required 8 stitches in her hind leg and her tail wounds debrideded (yep the savage tried to bite her tail off and when that didn't work went in for her thigh). It was traumatic for all to say the least and because of Covid19 we were unable to go inside the facility to be with her at all so that made it worse. However the ladies on staff were very empathetic and compassionate which made it bearable. They were quick to inform us of what needed to be done and called us as soon as surgery was completed. The only thing I did not like was while she was still in surgery a receptionist called for my CC number to pay the bill! When I asked how my dog was doing she told me she was still in surgery and the dr would call me later... I just felt it was a tad insensitive to look to collect while the dog was still in surgery where anything can happen! This place was amazing. My dog was injured from a deer A few weeks ago. It was 1 AM and we did not know what to do. We were referred to this place By a friend so my husband rushed our dog here. Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 ,he was unable to go in with her. There were 4 people waiting outside when he arrived and took her immediately. Unfortunately, she had spinal cord damage and he had to make the Dreaded, humane choice. Sad because she was only 5 years old. The vet put me on a conference call so I could listen in. She advised us that surgery would be a long haul and not guaranteed. She was unable to urinate on her own and had no feeling in her back area. We had her cremated and were able to pick her up a week later. They gave us a beautiful box with her name on it and also a "paw print " in stone. I would highly recommend this place. Yes , emergency vets are expensive but, I felt the price was very reasonable . read more

I had a frustrating afternoon at this clinic. I waited over 2 hours for my dog to be seen, and the staff was unable to give me any updates along the way. I wouldn't recommend going here if your pet doesn't have a true emergency, since they will prioritize those cases over yours. The staff was curteous but no one apologized or took responsibility. And, I needed to call to get these updates. At one point I waited on hold for ten minutes and then they hung up on me. read more

The doctors and staff at VEG Nanuet are the best. They recently nursed our dog Bruno back to health from a bladder infection, IBS, and pneumonia. We didn't think he would make it, but after a weekend at VEG Nanuet he came home, and now 10 days later you'd never know he was sick. Dr. Antonpoulos and everyone else there treated him like he was their own dog, and they've called to check on him after he got released. They also diagnosed a thyroid condition we didn't even know he had, but they noticed something in his blood work, so now he's on meds for that and he'll be fine. We just wish they were open 24x7, we'd use them as our regular vet! read more

I am presently here with my dog. She is here ( for 3 days) for pancreatitis. The staff here has been AMAZING!!! Each one is so nice,comforting, efficient, and they all work together and know what they are doing. I can recommend this hospital, which is now open 24/7, without any hesitation. If you have an emergency, try very hard to avoid taking your precious pet here. We have had two horrific experiences here. The first had to do with our puppy needing oxygen and they put him in the tank and oxygen was empty and they had no backup oxygen in the building. Our puppy almost died. Thankfully we knew to leave immediately and go to another hospital. Second incident just a day ago. Our pet wasn't doing well and unfortunately had no other choice but to bring our dog there. Vet did xrays and told us her heart was so enlarged and could be heart disease and could be going into cardiac arrest. She was kept in oxygen and the tank was most likely not on. I witnessed her collapse in the tank and the vets, techs and receptionist were all having a fun time at the front desk laughing and not paying attention to my collapsed dog. I tried calling the number, no answer and they were all at the desk. I knocked and they didn't hear me. I banged loud on the door for a good three minutes and they finally opened the door and said my dog collapsed the oxygen isn't working. I had to bring my dog to oradell after and she passed away. This location in nanuet is negligent. After reviewing radiology reports. Vet wasn't even close! Stay away and save your pet the distressing experience from this place. They will cause a death if you're not careful read more
