This all-vegan food cart at the Corner 14 Foodcarts in Oregon City is a tasty treasure. Offering a number of bowls and one burrito/wrap, all made with fresh ingredients like greens, avocado, veggies, brown rice and pan-fried soy curls, everything is made to order. House-made sauces top off the bowls and wrap for that extra special burst of flavor. I had the Heavy Veggie Burrito, made with brown rice, soy curls (I ordered the pineapple sriracha curls), black beans, greens, avocado, and a couple of sauces (Richi's Sauce & tofu "sour cream") and I can tell you this: it was sooooo good, I would have ordered a second one if my stomach wasn't completely full with the goodness of the first one I had already eaten. The Corner 14 Foodcarts has a parking lot adjacent to it, clean indoor eating area for those cold rainy days and a covered outdoor seating area with center-of-the-table fireplaces. Always get the east bowl and the west bowl, always add the pineapple sriracha curls - although to be honest there is so much food you don't need them, they're just so delicious. Veggie bowl used to be called Richi's. Several years back it was a brick and mortar cafe in Hillsboro. That's where I had my first taste of their delicious food. It was a sad day when Richi's closed but then it was reborn as a food cart in downtown Portland. Now Richi's food cart has moved to the PSU food cart pad on 4th between College Street and Hall Street. It also now goes by the name Veggie Bowl. No matter the location or new name, Richi's food is still delicious! He serves a choice of five items. Each item is a tasty combination of healthy ingredients that is filling and nutritious. I came to Veggie Bowl last week to pick up food for my sister and I. I was able to order quickly since it was after the lunch rush. The menu is clear and easy to read with pictures. My sister recommended the sriracha bowl so I went with that. I got her the same as well. I added avocado to mine. I paid with card and waited for my order. I was offered utensils but declined and then went to my sister's house. We sat down together and enjoyed our food. My avocado was fresh and perfectly sliced! The bowl was amazing! "Veggie Bowl" proves that just because it's vegetarian and healthy, it doesn't mean the food can't be absolutely delicious! My "Nori Bowl" was a delight just to look at. So many beautiful colors that lit up the dreary Portland day. The bursts of sunflower seed flavor were a pleasant surprise each time one popped in my mouth, and with the dried seaweed strips all the flavors came together to create a deconstructed sushi experience (minus the fish). I really loved the rice and quinoa mix, the best part of which was the SAUCE: a creamy, chipotle-like mixture that held the base together and had me savoring every single bite. The "Sriracha Bowl" was also packed with flavor, albeit of a different kind. The strips of soy that substituted for meat may as well have been chicken. Each strip was bursting with flavor since it has been soaked in the sauce, instead of the sauce being thrown on top. For someone who usually finds soy bland, it was clear the folks at this cart cooked this the right way. PSA: Beware the pickled ginger! Though the beautiful color is perfect for pictures, it's one condiment that kicks you in the nose. My buddy was keeled over, chugging water because it was worse than wasabi. It's 100% vegetarian, and I am pretty sure it is vegan. However, their food is FULL of flavor. I love greens and grains but most bowls are really off on proportions, texture or spice... sometimes all 3! THIS HOWEVER!!! LOADED with veggies and balanced out well with rice and quinoa. I got #1 veggie bowl with spicy soy curls (get the soy curls get the soy curls get the soy curls) topped off with some pickled ginger and sesame seeds. Soy curls well seasoned, good texture, are not over fried. Spice was not overpowering but provided a nice warmth, definitely feel a kick. Possibly due to the ginger as well.
