This is one of my favorite locations. It's just a cute location. Our server was great. She was attentive and friendly. We only ordered drinks today. Monkey Punch is the way to go! Food- I've only had tots from here and you can't go wrong. Drinks- Kennedy School has the Winter Breeze. The brunette bartender with glasses is the best at making drinks! Winter breeze is so good: grapefruit and fruity! Ambiance- eclectic, fun, nicely lit and overall this is a good spot for a first time date. Staff isn't very accessible/kind, the beer is overpriced. I wish there were a little bit more variety. Food is ok but so overpriced. We come here when we have a gift card. This is after years and years of patronage fro this location to Edgefield, to the Crystal location. So disappointed. read more

I really like McMenamins as a whole and this location is worth stopping in. I don't like it near as much as the other spots throughout the area due to its size and layout, overall vibe. We went here on Saturday night at 5pm. Sat down. Got our menus. Ordered our food. It took awhile for the food to come out. This Mcmenamins used to be an old church. A small church. There was a wall clock at one end of the wall that isn't working properly. The other side has an Odyssey mural on it. Parking lot is very limited. Side street parking is a must. There is only 5-6 parking spaces outside of the Mcmenamins. They share a very tiny parking lot with the Clackamas County courthouse. read more

We normally love all of McMenamin's locations. The food here is normally good but the last time, the fries came out very late and cold. The waitress was super apologetic but now we are worried that we will have the same experience if we go back. I think I'll stick to the West Linn location for now. read more

We went here yesterday and decided to sit on the patio. The sign said seat yourself. So we did. And we waited, and waited, and waited till finally a waitress showed up. It was clear that she was very busy and trying very hard under difficult circumstances. Anyway to make a long story short, the service was awful, not because of the waitress who was trying hard to do so much but because their just wasn't much of it and there were long waits for everything. Even for a check so we could finally leave. We did eventually leave, however, after placing $60 on the table and walking out - never to return. My sympathies for anyone who works there. read more

Any time I want something consistent, whether it's the food, the ambiance, the service, or the drinks, I choose McMenamins. This location is the closest to where I live so I go here more than any of the other locations but I've been to them all because I'm a McMenamins Passport holder and that's what passport holders do. Right? So consistency. McMenamins Oregon City has never had what I'd call "great service" but after all these years, one can usually bank on the consistency that is a long wait for food and drink refills. They've always had what I'd call an interesting menu, with seasonal offerings, and if you're looking for a burger, a salad, or some fish & chips, then McMenamins is probably the place to get it. The Oregon City McMenamins has a rustic feel to it, with seating in booths or at the bar. Another consistent thing McMenamins does is their alcoholic offerings. Along with McMenamins-brewed beer and wine, they offer hard ciders and distilled liquors from their distillery such as whiskey & vodka... and my favorite: Herbal No. 7, which is a tasty liqueur. Parking can be a challenge, especially during weekday working hours, but if you're not in a hurry, check them out. There's gotta be something on that menu that you'd like! read more

So I do like to go to McMenamins all over and I do have a passport. But not living in Oregon I don't get to stop in the "little" ones. I really like this place and its neighborhood feel. I ordered the blue cheese burger which tasted great, even though I had to drain it a bit almost like they put really wet lettuce on it. I had a side salad and stole a couple of tots off a friends plate. I have never had their ciders before and had a flight with blackberry, cherry and standard apple cider they were all delicious, so I may have had a couple of pints of cider and a whiskey flight. Food was delicious, hot, and felt home cooked. Service was good. If we needed anything while our waitress was away we went up to the bar. Ambiance is perfection. The booths create a more private space but it still feels open and relaxed with the tall ceilings. Will be back! read more

Of all the locations this one is the worst. There are only maybe 6 parking spots, the rest are either street pay to park or part of city hall. Worst thing and most confusing is that they do not allow dogs on the property including on the outside patio. We have a small licensed service dog so we sat outside, I went inside to let the server know where we will be sitting as the sign said "seat yourself", She said she would be there in a few minutes. About 30 minutes later she came to our table and we were asked to leave because dogs are not allowed on the premises. We got our stamps and left. It wasn't busy at all, there were maybe 2 other people sitting and having a drink. Every location I have been to is dog friendly except for this one. read more

It's been about a year since we were last here and we had the absolute pleasure of having her as a server again. She remembered us and where we sat last time, a year later! First time in a McMenamins in so many years. I've been to this location before and it's a small, quint little pub. Very intimate setting, stopped in for a Hammerhead and an appetizer. Order was taken quickly. Overall, a great experience.... the Hammerhead ale is great and still the flagship ale for McMenamins. The Cajun tots were very tasty. So after all these years, McMenamins is still delivering the goods. The artwork is typical of the establishments... very cosmic and trip-tacular. Burger was so overcooked it tasted like char and went untouched, server didn't notice - but somehow was cold. All the food was cold, slider cheese didn't melt and made fish and chips.:. cold fries num! Very hard to get drink refills and anything like a side of ranch etc - which was actually requested at the time of order. Literally one of the worst restaurants I have been to in my entire life. The reviews don't lie- the service is TERRIBLE. It looked like they only had one waiter, so I understand the struggle to keep up but the waiter and what I assume was the manager were so horribly rude. The manager who took our order was cold, snappy, and seemed like she didn't even want us there. I heard her greet another table much more kindly so I'm not sure what was different about us. They were out of lemonade, and instead of apologizing or even offering other options she didn't even look at me and simply said "I don't have lemonade." Wtf?? I was here recently with a group. Half of us had arrived, so we asked if we could be seated. The response was, "We know you had a reservation, but we weren't sure you would show up, so we gave away your table." The kicker - we were early. So, they had already given away our table at least 10-15 minutes before the reservation time. If you can make a reservation but they won't save a table, what is the point? Fortunately, it was a nice day, so we sat outside, and the food was good. It's your service you pay for, take the time to set it up or take the time to have some courtesy with customers rather than blowing them off and saying it's their fault for not click a button on a program they pay for and set up? We love all the McMenamins historic locations and this one is just as much fun as the rest of them. It's fun to check out the art on the walls, grab something to eat with a drink or two and don't forget to get a passport. My all time favorite is their Portland dip with Cajun tater tots. It's a French dip sandwich with turkey instead of roast beef. I almost always get a cup of clam chowder with it too. Try out their season ciders or one of the house beers. Parking can be limited. You may have a park a few blocks away but walking through downtown Oregon City can be fun on its own. All the side streets also have parking spots so you're sure to find one not too far from the location. The servers are usually really great here but the bartenders can be hit and miss. Sometimes they're really great and other times they'll act like they can't be bothered to serve drinks. I always find that crazy for someone working in the service industry to have that sort of attitude. We're cosmic tripsters several times over so we've been to every McMenamins location several times over and we've stayed at several of the hotels and this is one of our local favs. read more

This building use to be an old school house so it has some great architecture, and it is pretty cool to check out. Had some sliders, garlic fries, and one of use ordered a melt with some chowder. Everything was delicious, though I wish they would have roasted or grilled the garlic on the fries I am pretty sure it was raw. Overall food was great, drinks were strong, and the service was awesome. I am certainly coming back here when I visit again. read more

Never again will we visit this McMenamins. We like the chain usually and know that you don't go there to get fast service. However, no matter how slow, the staff at other locations are very sweet, relaxed, and nice. NOT HERE. Not only did it take almost an hour and 20 minutes to get acknowledged, seated, and fed, we were treated extremely poorly. As if we were a nuisance by just existing. We came to a restaurant looking for food and beverages. How DARE we?!? While there I saw at LEAST three other couples arrive, be ignored, and walk back out without notice. They were quite busy, but we've been to other McMenamins which were equally busy and had no problem doing their jobs and being kind. I'm a big, tall gal and am fairly certain I'm not invisible, but these women ignored me (and others) masterfully. It takes WORK to avoid eye contact at that skilled a level. Since it was so unpalatable, the next few days we wondered aloud about this location and heard from other patrons about it. The consensus is generally the same: Hit or miss on the service. Definitely don't sit on the side of the restaurant that has one certain server, and don't go during a busy time. It's also preferential if you're with the in-crowd: The younger server saw two patrons (obviously familiar to her) come in and ran up to them with a 'Hi Kids!', hugged them, seated them immediately, and they had their food in 20 minutes. Guess you have to know someone. To our specific experience: We waited standing inside the door for at least 10 minutes. It took at least 8 minutes for someone (the youngest of the servers) to acknowledge our presence and tell us it would be a few more minutes until we were seated. There was a group of 3 women in front of them and they didn't get acknowledged much either, but at least they got a smile and eye contact. Once we were seated, we were acknowledged with a head nod and a 'we're busy so it will be a few more minutes, and she just had two more tables in front of you'. The woman put down some menus and ran off. Our server (an older woman who was curt and icy) literally said fewer than 15 words to us the entire time. This woman gave zero flying figs. At least 15 minutes after we were seated we were asked what we wanted to drink (not given water or anything upon arrival) and asked what we wanted to order for food at the same time. We ordered a glass of water and a soda water. It took her another 15 minutes to get it to us. She slapped some silverware and a napkin down with the drinks and ran away. Cue another 35 minutes until we finally asked about the food. At this point it had been over an hour from front to back and we'd seen our server 2 times. At one point I tried to flag down another server to ask for more water (one refill). As she blew by the table she curtly said the other person would be right with us. Nope. The food came. My burger was fine. My husband's sausage platter wasn't done and one of them was lukewarm. Our server came by once more (because at this point it was after 2 pm and the lunch rush was over). I asked for the bill and a box at the same time, because we didn't know when we'd see her again. The woman was SO RUDE I do not have the adequate words to describe how hurtful the experience was. I don't care if you're overworked and busy, etc. You make eye contact with people and acknowledge their presence. We were low maintenance. Only at about the hour mark did we ask about the food to make sure it was coming out/that the order was actually put it, and my husband - who is a saint and extremely patient - did it nicely. She was defensive and said in one breath, 'I don't know it depends on what you order other people just ordered salads and that stuff comes out faster I'll go check in a minute'. Gee, thanks. We weren't sure how a restaurant worked, but glad you bit our head off about it. A smile would have done wonders. An acknowledgement that we weren't pestering her simply by existing would have been great. I've never seen a more tight-lipped, rude set of servers in my life. I have to give it to the young gal on shift because at least she smiled occasionally, but the other two would've rather shaved off our eyebrows and kicked us out the door than look at us. We almost got up and left about four times. We should've - there are other restaurants within walking distance and I would've felt more validated as a human. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I love this location, especially with the rockin' new deck. Aside from one bizarre incident a few years ago, the service is consistently friendly and well-paced. The burgers seem especially good here, as do the Cajun tots. It's where I first fell in love with Black Rabbit, too. A female server met us and said very rudely "I'm not taking any more tables until my other server get's here at 12:30, you can sit inside!" No "hello" greeting, OR ANYTHING. Very rude.
