We love this place and have come here for years. We also notice the price increases and slower service. It took ten minutes to get coffee this morning and I had to ask a kind female server for that. She was friendly and kind. Our service barely checked in with us. This has been how it's been the last few times. We also don't prefer to sit back in the dark bar area. Came here today for Father's Day breakfast, had one of the rudest waitresses I've ever had. She ignored as after we sat for 15min and when I asked for water she gave me an attitude and said she'd tell the server... which was her.. My husband and I stopped in during a road trip. Hostess was polite and very thoughtful. Ambiance is a fast paced diner. Wait was only 15 min at 10:45 on a Sunday, forwhich we were grateful. Once seated we waited 15 minutes for a server so we flagged one walking bye. Fin apologized and went on a search for our waitress. He said he could find her and offered to take care of us. In the past I always found myself excited to be near Oregon City so I could dine at the Hive. But tonight we ate there and I was very disappointed. The prices for what we order were high, the glass of wine was not a full pour, the menu had changed considerably since my last visit and the food was mediocre. Don't charge $17 for Burrata and tomato salad when the tomatoes were not heirloom and had little flavor. The $14 string beans were plentiful but had little taste (altho they were crunchy). The oven roasted potatoes were not crisp and were only saved by the buttery garlic sauce. They are off my list and I will be dining elsewhere in the area. read more

What a great little place! The clean and modern speakeasy aesthetic really shines here. They nailed the vibe all the way down to the menu font. But the food and service are the real stars of the show. The chicken and waffles are a contender for the best I've ever had. Their matcha latte was the most rich and flavorful rendition since getting some at the source in Kyoto Japan. If you're into either of those things alone it's worth the visit. Headed down to the hive social for brunch on a Monday afternoon. The staff quickly seated us and accommodated our large party. The inside of the hive was adorable and modern. Lots of seating available! One one side there is the restaurant and the other you can walk up for coffee. The food was fresh and came out relatively quickly for such a large party. While nothing was bad, nothing was particularly good either. I love the concept but the food for the price point was not hitting the marks for me. Definite skip on the iced cold brew as it looked like ice tea it was extremely diluted. We appreciated the staff splitting our bill and I will be back to try the dinner offerings. read more

Went here for bridal brunch! Very cool spot, a little dark towards the back and felt like it was in the late afternoon. Food was tasty and big portions. You can split with two adults. Maybe the breakfast portions were not as heavy but the burger, be prepared to have napkins and taking half home. Coffee latte was delicious. Parking was is a bit hectic during busy hour or day. Pricey for brunch but a cool spot to check out and fresh food. It took them awhile to come out with it and that's not a bad thing. I normally have a great time at this restaurant, food always meets my standards and its a place i recommend to people visiting. However, today i was deeply disappointed. First, i ordered a latte dairy free and was brought one with milk. My spouse also ordered a matcha with milk and was given what was supposed to be mine. I also watched as one of our guests ordered drip coffee, asking three separate times where it was, while other tables were served. It took the entirety of waiting before we were able to get someone's attention to remedy this issue and even after writing it down, they still brought back the wrong drink. Our server was snobby, rude, and glanced at our table without actually checking in. The kitchen staff were kind, and ended up being the ones to solve his problems. He did not deserve a tip, however we left one as a courtesy. My friend's eggs were ice cold, even though they were the last item to be brought out. I'm very disappointed and am certain I will not be returning. read more

We can very early in the night and it made no difference for the quality of the food. Came into town back in November for a wedding weekend and I'm still thinking about this spot! Got served by incredible people. Carson described the boring benny as an old friend, and the salmon benny as a new friend. We had to come back the next day to try the salmon benny and it did not disappoint. Now I'm seeing the Texas Benny and I wish I lived closer... I also tried the seasonal soup and to my delight, it was a rabbit noodle soup that was SO TASTY. We came in for breakfast/brunch and sisters coffee and Gerry's milk will never disappoint. The ambiance is swanky and chic. We dined in the front, in the back near the bar, and also upstairs at Arc Light for the wedding we were attending. Everything was spectacular. Cold wasn't bad but for expensive money I expect hot food service was iffy. I went here this last Sunday with my family and we really enjoyed the food! We were seated really quick but I believe they might have been short staffed - since, it took a while for a waitress to take our order and food took a while to arrive. The waitress was really sweet and apologetic and to be honest we were not in any rush. I have worked in the restaurant industry and I understand days like this, are out of the staff's control. This upsets me because I normally don't carry cash on me, so when this charge isn't presented upfront, like before I order, I'm forced to pay an extra 3% for eating there. To the Hive Social directly, this is what the State of Oregon Requires when you pass credit card fees onto the customer: Surcharge Disclosure Requirements for Oregon Merchants Since Oregon doesn't impose state-specific disclosure rules, businesses can default to federal standards and card network requirements.
