    *Mushroom Tacos *Kimchi Veggie Bowl
    Marisa Q.

Veggie Grill *June 2, 2025 *11am- Monday *5 Stars Seating/ Environment: *Self Seating *Lots of Parking *Self Service Kiosk Food/Drink: *Mushroom Tacos *Kimchi Veggie Bowl I checked out this Veggie Grill near UW for lunch and had a pretty solid experience. I've had vegan food here and there, but this spot definitely stood out. The mushroom tacos were flavorful with a good bite to them, and the kimchi veggie bowl had a nice kick without being too much. Everything tasted fresh and came out quickly. It wasn't busy at all when I went, so finding a seat was no problem--pretty ideal for a chill lunch. Parking was also way easier than I expected for a campus area, which was a nice surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even though it's a counter-order setup, they made sure everything was smooth. I'd come back to try more of the menu if I lived around here.

Very small chocolate cake, $9, more fudge than cake.
    Just I.

First time trying out this place. The hydration smoothie is so tangy it's hard to drink. The Mac n cheese was not very cheesy, had a weird flavor, and the slightest spiciness to it. The tiny chocolate cake, which the cashier assured me was good, is good but more fudge top and little actual cake. My meal was $31 plus change for a 14oz smoothie, snack size mac n cheese and small piece of cake. They do have student discount of 20% but the sign is (in)conveniently located around the counter after you pay, I obviously do not see this until after paying which was disappointing. Also the guy who is calling names when food is done, does so very softly and my food sat, smoothie melting, for quite a while before he called the name again, I wasn't the only person who was waiting for food that was done and did not hear him call the name. They also need an extra employee to maintain the dining room better. The cashier is swamped and doesn't have a lot of time to wipe tables between customers, when I arrived the seats and almost every table was dirty. In my hour long visit I saw her try her best to keep up but the constant stream of customers in line made it hard for her to get anything else done. I think this is one place I can confidently say I'd skip next time.

This is my second time at veggie grill, but first time at North Seattle location. I got the sesame tofu salad and it was fantastic! If I lived nearby, I would eat that salad multiple times a week. Delicious!!

Disgustingly dirty seat back cushion - just a fraction of the filth you will find.

Slimy filth covering every surface, including the silverware and cups they give you. The toilet seat in the women's bathroom has been dangerously loose for many many months (6+). I've complained to management and even sent an email to VG about it, but they leave it. I guess they want a lawsuit? Also, every time you walk to the bathroom you risk breaking your neck because the floor is super slick from their kitchen. The seats in their book look like someone took a knife to them, seriously.

I don't always go to chain restaurants, but Veggie Grill is always a safe bet, even when I'm hanging out with omnivores. All vegetarian all the time, they have a small selection of beer/wine and they provide tasty cooked to order food. I've been to several Veggie Grill locations over the years and this one is basically on par with the others...just as a chain should be. Menus are provided right at the front of the door so you can sit down and decide at your leisure what you're trying to eat today. I know I always struggle a bit because there are so many options I want!! Also look around for the seasonal menu sign - there are usually 5+ more choices that aren't listed on the normal menu. This establishment had sticky all over the floor (I was wearing my hiking shoes, but still not happy), but was overall fairly clean otherwise. I decided to go with a Reuben and some mac & cheese. The sauerkraut was a bit different that other places, which isn't a bad thing, has a kinda dill pickle note to it. The mac & cheese was crazy bland and I hated it. Seems like Veggie Grill pasta items and I don't mix, never again. Overall a great place to get some good veggie friendly food.

Southwestern Nachos: deliciously loaded & extremely yummy!

I will be raving about this place to anyone with ears to listen. This is vegan junk food that doesn't skimp on quality, quantity or presentation - everything looks just as mouthwatering as their menu pictures. I'm amazed because the prices were the best I've ever seen (in university village, too!) and the burgers and nachos were among the best I've ever had. Inside was casually cozy, with warm lighting creating a nice ambiance. Service was prompt and friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and there weren't too many people on a Saturday night. - Southwestern Nachos ($8.50) - fully loaded with beans, guac, cheese, corn, sour cream, pickled peppers, tomato, taco meat, and extremely delicious!!! They sure don't skimp on variety. Crispy and yummy. - House Veggie Burger ($9.95) - one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. Extremely moist and well balanced with pickled onions, bitter arugula and rich spicy patty. Certainly recommend to blow the minds of veggie burger skeptics everywhere (like it did mine)! - Sweet potato fries (small, $2.95) - just how they should be and loved how they were sliced like ribbons which gave them more crispiness. Chipotle aioli was good but it didn't stand out. - Reuben on Rye ($11.50) - a little salty and oily but my meat-eater friend couldn't believe it wasn't meat! It a bit lacking in texture but otherwise hit the spot. Bread was done just right with a big crunch. Again, the prices! The high quality food!! The deliciousness!!! I had my doubts but it just completely blew me away. Veggie Grill is a must-try for everyone.

I really love this Veggie Grill location. It has a lot of Vegan options and they are incredible. I especially like the buffalo chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, and nachos. I also enjoy the bbq Mac burger. Whatever your taste, I am sure they have an option for you. I also like their selection of beverages and organic sodas. Their carrot cake is also one of the most delicious vegan carrot cakes I have ever eaten. The staff is always friendly and their service is prompt. I have never had an issue with them getting my order correct. Their is ample seating room and a nice, casual vibe. I highly recommend this veggie grille location for a great plant based meal. I like it more than the downtown Seattle location.

    Spoiled Chocolate Pudding
    Chantel H.

The burger was edible, but the middle was cold so I didn't eat half of it. When I ordered I asked for ketchup and ranch and was waved off and then served a mystery dipping sauce that was very good but not what I ordered. I tried one bite of the chocolate pudding and it was like putting acid in your mouth. It was so sour and very obviously spoiled. I had to spit it out. I have ordered this same dessert at the downtown location and know what it normally tastes like. You can even see clearly in the photo that everything is separating and the topping is clumpy and "curdling". I've been to the Veggie Grill in downtown Seattle and loved it so much. If this University location was my first impression of Veggie Grill I would never ever give them another try.

So I'm sad to see the decline in this establishment. Upon entering I immediately noticed the worn upholstery in the booths. A serious makeover is needed. So trashy. But I get it times are hard. My food arrived on a chipped plate - time to throw it away folks. The counter server was very friendly as normal so that's a definite plus. However the BLT I ordered looked like they threw all the ingredients on the toast with no real prep. The tomato jam was not jam but pieces huge chunks too big to eat. While I'm glad they aren't skimping on the ingredients it was piled so high that it was challenging to eat. I ended up eating it in pieces with my fork and as such lost the tastiness of a combination of the flavors as it quickly became a deconstructed mess. A huge plus - the Seattle Fog was probably the best "London" fog I've ever had !!! Bravo. Not sure I'll come back again this visit. Maybe I'll check it next summer to see if improvements have been made.

They have so much outdoor seating, on both sides of the cafe, which I really like. Way more than downtown. Food came out super quick too. My go to order has always been the Mr Breakfast plate, it's super hearty and full of great breakfast foods. However, the price has increased exponentially and quality has definitely gone down. I used to pay around $15 for this plate and it included bacon and now it's $17 + an extra $4 to add 2 pieces of bacon. (The bacon is totally worth it though). The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. That was the only thing that remained on my plate when I was done! and the soft boiled egg tasted a little off to me, like it had been sitting for a bit long. Other than that, the Turkish eggs and chopped chicken salad were very fresh and good. Staff were super nice when ordering at the counter, coffees and pastries were good as well. Overall I will come back here, just would like to see some quality changes with the Mr Breakfast as it used to be very good.

Get: Miso Roasted Mushrooms, Herb Crush Salmon, Katsu Chicken Peanut Salad Skip: Nothing we ordered The Herb Crush Salmon came with truffle beurre blanc, creamy mashed potatoes, preserved tomatoes and vegetables. It felt substantial enough to be a full meal rather than a salad you regret ordering when everyone else's food arrives. We shared the Miso Roasted Mushrooms, made with shallots and white wine, and those were excellent too. The Individually Baked Apple Tart was worth it, but took a while to arrive. We were asking for the check instead when it arrived. The wait was long, but the complimentary champagne and mocktails were a thoughtful touch, and the service throughout was great. Great first impression since this was my sister's first time at Joey, or so I thought. We get seated at the outside patio and we order water to start. The water glasses came in a very small glass and since it was hot out, we drank our cups fast. I asked our waitress if we could have a pitcher / jug / container of some sort explicitly saying we want to refill our glasses. I suppose there was a miscommunication because a different waitress brought a bottle and then 3 more glasses out. We were then charged $10 for the bottle. I really just wanted a pitcher of tap, ice cold water we could drink since our waitress was not attentive to us whatsoever. My frustrations lie with the service we were given. 3 people eating at Joey is NOT cheap. It took 20 minutes for us to order our drinks and appetizer. Our appetizer came out before our drinks. We waited another 15 minutes for our drinks after that. A different waitress brought them out so at this point we have three waitresses, have been there nearly 50 minutes in the heat, barely any water with NO ice, and still have not ordered our food. I am disappointed since it had died down and there were only 3 other tables occupied outside at this point. Our waitress finally asks for our orders and we wait another 20 minutes for our food to come out. My partner ordered a larger size steak - $7 more. When the plates were brought out my sides were paired with his steak on my plate and vice versa. We asked the waitress can you verify that the 7 oz. steak was present in front of one of us since we were paying more. She left and checked with the chef, but we had to wait even more time before we ate in case they needed to take our plates back. We eat our meal and finish with our plates cleaned, glasses empty, and all stacked with napkins on top indicating we were finished eating. Our waitress walked past multiple times without ever checking in on us. She walked by and I eventually waved my hand and asked for the check. I see the $10 bottle was charged and asked for it to be removed. Thankfully, they did. Food was good as I have eaten Joey at the Bellevue location, but for the $160 tab I am VERY dissatisfied with our service. For the time and money we spent I would have appreciated more check ins, our food plated correctly, and WAY faster service. All in all, we sat there for over an hour and half when it could've been an hour max. Also, we were served room temperature water on a hot day when other tables had ice. Hoping the managers work on service. Don't waste your hard earned time and money by visiting this location, just go to Bellevue. Never had this bad of service there ONCE.
