Always happy coming to Veggie House. We have gotten to go orders, but mostly dined in. Always great experiences! The food always comes out hot and fresh with large portions. Our favorite order is to get the vegan beef fried rice, soy beef and broccoli, and the vegan orange chicken (made with mushrooms). The staff is always pleasant as well! It tasted like a mildly seasoned bland broth with frozen dumplings, not wontons. For$8 for a small bowl, it was so disappointing. The kung pao tofu on the other hand was exceptionally good!!! It was drenched in sauce, and I thought it was interesting how they added literal orange slices and chunks to enhance the flavor (a bit on the citrus side). It was definitely a nice touch! I wish the portions were bigger; it might be more appropriate for one person rather than sharing with a group of 4. - Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower: (5/5) Looking back, I think I would have preferred if they made it with tofu, but cauliflower is fine too! The sauce they provided was spicy and sweet/sour, and the texture was good and crisp. It also had little rice cracker (?) bits on the bottom too. Service/Ambiance: There was ample seating, and the restaurant was spacious. Maybe it was because we came on a weekday, but it was quiet, and there weren't too many customers. The workers were friendly enough but didn't check up often, but it was not a big deal at all. This was a cute little spot in Chinatown that's a very solid option that is veggie centric. The braised eggplant was on point and had all the garlic and spice flavor for a soft textured dish. The dumplings were okay, not my favorite, I prefer meat dumplings for sure which means I would order something else the next time I come. Told the server he didn't seem to care. I typically would have sent it back, but I was just so over it! The crab ragoon I had was just OK. White rice was $2 for a tiny bowl. $3.25 for a can of ginger ale ...GTFOH...Not worth the price point. Very disappointing. Will not return. It's rare I don't take home my leftovers when dinning out, but those sweet and sour mushrooms went to the trash where they belonged. And further more, I also had to pay for parking.... We were directed to a table and a tablet to browse through the menu and to place our orders. We ordered sweet and sour chicken: which was crispy and chewy and tasted good but noticed that the chicken nugget was a small piece of cut mushroom deep fried in batter (mostly fried batter). Beef fried rice was surprisingly good, better than I thought it would be. Mongolian beef was surprisingly flavorful with the mixture of green onions, red chili, dried noodles, which was tasty. The overall dining experience was great, they had pretty decent portions, a little pricey but overall it was a great first vegan experience in Chinatown.
