Bland and lacking any real flavor. The noodles and veggies were fresh & the portion size was great. I got mine with tofu that I thought was cooked to a nice chewy consistency. I just had to add an abundant amount of Tamari, peanut butter & sweet chili sauce. Would I go again? The answer is yes because the food itself was fresh. I would try a different dish. My wife and I have been huge fans of Veggie House for years. We haven't gone there often lately because it's gotten just too expensive. This time around, once again a simple lunch for two (no drinks) ran to over $60, but that's not what was so disappointing. The food was just terrible. I had the green curry stir fry, which was a pile of bell peppers (not found in Thai food, BTW) and onions, with just a few sad bits of protein. My wife's sweet and sour was a collection of fried dough, the protein indiscernible. What was unforgivable, though, was the rice was old and tough, obviously left over from the previous day, and reheated in a microwave. If they're cutting corners this bad, they don't deserve to charge such exorbitant prices. read more

My family and I were in the mood for a colorful veggie meal after traveling cross country. I got the mixed veggie stir fry with "chicken", California roll, spicy mango roll, and edamame. The stir fry was wonderful, the edamame was tasty and tender, the sushi was okay...not the best I've ever had, but adequate. Overall, it was a great meal and we were happy. Only bad part, the neighborhood is kind of rough. Prostitutes and homeless people are walking the streets...not somewhere I'd bring company you're trying to make a positive impression on. read more

I really wanted to love this place. Lots of positive reviews on Yelp. I was hoping this would be a new favorite. But, our experience was less than memorable. Curb appeal is lacking but I thought the inside would make up for it. Clean and tidy, but the plants in every corner and crawling across the ceiling were a bit too much. You order at the counter, but there are no prices either on the board or in the tiny menu they offered. I felt like the prices were high. $12 (or whatever it was) for two fresh spring rolls or six tiny pot stickers seemed excessive. Now if they had been the best ever, or if you couldn't find a vegetarian version in the entire valley ... maybe. But, the spring rolls were average and the dipping sauce was hoisin sauce with peanuts sprinkled on top (not peanut sauce like she told me it came with). The potstickers were deep fried and very crispy and small. $2 each? Our third item was the tempura vegetable rice bowl. Fine but nothing exciting to write home about. I was watching a show last night where the main character was eating lo mein and immediately had a craving for it and had to order delivery. I've been wanting to try Veggie House for a while and they had a veggie lo mein with tofu that I ordered immediately. As I was scrolling through their menu I saw that they had SO many veggie options, which is always so exciting for me to see. But, my heart was set on lo mein and once I get an idea in my head I can't let go of it, so that's all I ordered. It was really yummy! It was one of the only place I could find that had tofu as a protein option so I was excited. It had a ton of good flavor and was packed with veggies. It was the perfect temperature when it arrived for delivery and it was enough food to have leftovers to heat up today. I'm excited to go visit this spot in person and get a more fresh experience, as well as check out their other menu items. They have so many options and I can't wait to try them! read more

The food tasted good but we were surprised that the entree came with half of the dishes to be rice instead of a full container of the entree with rice on the side. If "no oil" isn't your problem they made a very good stir fried eggplant with tofu. I also enjoyed the fresh spring roll. There is dining inside and out. My sister and her husband kept raving about this place and brought us for dinner. I was surprised when we pulled up because the outside doesn't look very nice and the parking lot is tiny. We went inside and it's nice but a little small. You order your food at a counter and then they bring it to your table when it's ready. There were so many dishes to choose from, and all vegan! We ordered lots of dishes to try between the four of us and took a seat. The couple behind the counter were very nice and helpful. I figured the food couldn't be THAT good to warrant such praise from my sister, but I was open. When they delivered our food and we started trying the dishes I was blown away! It really is that good!! Everything tasted like authentic Asian food. I never would have guessed that it is all vegan. We loved the tempura vegetables! Probably our favorite item of the night. We also had the fried rice, egg rolls, and Vegas roll which we loved. A soy beef and green pepper dish, noodles (good but nothing special), orange chicken which was super good, and a stir fry with mixed veggie dish. Most of the dishes were really, really good. We kept telling my sister and brother in law that we could see why they loved it so much. They do a really good business and there were plenty of customers in the restaurant, as well as coming to pick up their takeout orders. When we were almost finished with our meal someone came in to sing karaoke for entertainment. It was harder to talk after that and it was distracting so we left a little earlier than we probably would have otherwise. So GF and I were out and about and the hunger pains were a calling. Decided to stop and try out the place after driving by a million times over. I wanted to like the place, I really did. But despite my best efforts I absolutely did not like the food (GF did not either). Now I hate to throw food away, it's just against my nature, but I simply could not finish anything I ordered and ended up tossing everything', as did the GF. Ample portions but I just couldn't power through the taste and texture. There was a greasy taste I couldn't identify not get out of my tastebuds for a while. I'll stop my negative review there. This place was a great place to visit while visiting SLC. Vietnamese American version of vegan~ vegetarian dishes. From bánh mì , pho , lemongrass tofu with rice. All was delicious and a great quick lunch was fantastic. Definitely will go back when we are back in town. read more

The food was good, but I would not return because of the outrageous prices. It is also worth noting that they do not post the prices on the menu, and I was shocked when I found out how much they were charging! The food here is so good! I had heard a lot about the place and meant to come here for a long but finally got the chance and took it! The food was tasty and the serving sizes were large. The only downside is how expensive it was. I would plan on spending at least $10 per person if you come here and, of course, you'll want their fresh spring rolls because they are delicious, so I'll likely be more. If the place was cheaper, we would probably be regulars! I also want to leave some praise for the soy beef. I've had a lot of imitation meats and their beef was the best I've ever had. I love love love love LOVE this place. The entire establishment is fantastic and ALL VEGAN! Locale: Super cute, cozy little space with plenty of live plants hanging around. You order at the counter and they bring your food freshly prepared to your table. Menu: Almost at the point of overwhelming, you have plenty of options to meet whatever savory Asian flavor you have a hankering for. Food: The only thing I didn't love was the pad thai, but that's probably because I'm used to the version I make at home. This is no big deal for me because there are so many other options worth getting. The lo mein is great, all the rolls are super flavorful, and they have multiple plant meats to choose from: shrimp, chicken, and beef; or you can stick with the classic tofu. The food and service were excellent like always. On this visit I ordered the phö and Vegas roll, their mushroom phö is on my list of comfort foods, it never fails to nourish my body and soul. We also ordered the avocado salad, tempura bowl and curry. The portions are generous, and food is well prepared and flavorful. This time we went in for a celebratory lunch in honor of my daughter and husband, and we're pleasantly surprised with an offering of veggie potstickers brought to our table and an impromptu birthday karaoke serenade from the gentleman tending the restaurant, not sure if he's one of owners. The ambiance is serene with a feeling that are walking into a secret garden. Although the restaurant and parking lot are small this is even conducive for a more intimate dining experience. I love that there is a vegan Asian restaurant in Salt Lake, and I also love that it's so clean and crisp and inviting!! (Too many places we've been to have great food but are dubbed takeout-only - amiright??) The outside is nothing special (except for that amazing mural on the wall!) and there's only like 4-5 awkward parking spots, but don't pass this place up, guys. I waited for a few minutes at the counter because we arrived early to an empty restaurant and they hadn't heard us, but it was okay because the menu is full of amazing-looking options and we needed a second to take it all in. They are really helpful with answering your questions too. Almost the entire menu is vegan except for a few of the sushi rolls which are vegetarian (but I overheard one of the employees say that it will be all-vegan soon.) The portions are huge and we took two full containers home. Most of all, I was impressed by freshness of the food, the inviting presentation of vegan food, and the ridiculous flavors and textures of the soy meat options they have (my kids had no idea it wasn't real meat.) We ordered the (soy) chicken Pad Thai for the kids to share and I got the Combination Pho (because how can you pass up the temptation of trying animal-free pho?!) which included the soy chicken, soy beef, tofu, and soy shrimp (?!?!) I LOVED that they used wide flat noodles on the Pad Thai - it was so surprising and still brought out the flavors of the dish without a hitch. The peanuts were actually freshly crushed on top into a super-fine sprinkle instead of those weird, slightly-too-big pieces of peanuts that some Pad Thais give you. I seriously could not believe how real the soy beef looked and tasted. Not exactly like the real thing, but they nailed the texture and chewiness. Lots of fresh bean sprouts and green onion and a big half of a lime to squeeze over. The Combination Pho was impressive and very pretty - it arrived with a generous serving of proteins and lots of fresh onions, green onions, shitake mushrooms, cauliflower, big chunks of turnip (I think?), and of course all the toppings, which were super fresh, bean sprouts, jalapeno, limes, Thai basil, cilantro. The broth-to-noodle ratio was perfect, and the broth itself (which was listed on the menu as roasted mushroom broth) was unique and not unlike meat pho broth but definitely not like it either - less heft and much lighter - no grease at all! - and still very appealing and delicious. I actually felt healthy eating it. The technicals: You grab your own silverware, water, and hot sauces, and are expected to bus your own table before you leave. Their soy sauce and chili sauce is labeled vegan (which I didn't even know existed!) and tastes a little different than the regular brands, just FYI. Lots of people do takeout here so they're good at that too. Can't wait to come back and try the fresh spring rolls and their other curry and stir frys. This place is a total winner!! SO glad to have such delicious vegan Asian food around. read more

Let's start with the ambiance. Despite the cheerful and friendly staff, the lack of air conditioning was a big negative on a hot day. The restaurant felt humid and closing in on 90 degrees. Murder, screaming and blood on the loud television (is that vegan?), they did turn it off on our request. The interior lighting and design were uninspiring except for some really nice plants. Really nice plants, for sure. On to the food. Yes, it was vegan. But both the yellow curry and the Vegas sushi Roll that we ordered featured a sickening level of sugar. The Vegas Roll in particular was more reminiscent of pancakes soaked in maple syrup than of traditional sushi. Vegan does not always equal healthy, of course. We did have some deep fried vegetables (tempura) which met reasonable expectations. We were not able to come close to finishing and didn't request a doggie bag. Not that there was a server on hand offering one, nor even a glass of water. Lastly, and most unforgivable given the rest of the experience, is that none of the items on the menu were priced. Three plates and two canned drinks with a 15% tip rang up to a rather shocking $49. A lot for a basically self serve place. While I seldom leave a one star review, the pluses didn't come close to making up for the sugar bomb and discomfort. read more

Let me start this by saying I am not a vegan. As an "on-the-fence vegetarian but will likely never completely give up meat" person, I compare all dishes with alternative meats with the "real deal," whatever they are trying to imitate. I ordered the Orange Chicken and Vegas Roll, and was not impressed by either. The Vegas roll was pretty tasty just because of the sauces drenched the roll and dominated the flavor and it was still warm from the fryer. The fillers looked like egg cake and had no taste and a kind of spongy tofu texture, so a slightly under average Vegas roll compared to most other experiences. The Orange chicken sauce was pretty good, but the breading gets soggy quickly. The meat/texture and flavor was not too bad, but there was just too much soggy breading. They seemed to be doing a more Panda Express style orange chicken sauce instead of the classic Chinese orange sauce, but it doesn't hold a candle to the king, or even to Ginger Street (who I award the silver medal for their orange chicken.) All in all, I would say not terrible but still not very impressed. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Don't come at me.. I have worked in the food industry. So we pulled up -15 minutes before they opened. Clearly we were the only one in the parking lot. We waited to enter the restaurant once it was 11 AM. We came in and there was a female cleaning up. We inquired if they were open as we weren't greeted. She then said yes and something along the line of the kitchen not being ready. We then asked if we could sit and she some what acknowledged... so we sat for about 5 minutes with nothing from the staff. She didn't indicate how long it would be till the kitchen could take orders.... no small talk of what brought us in or if we wanted a menu. The female continued to mop the floor which apparently was more important than paying customers. I hate to give bad reviews and you can see my history via Yelp activity.
