If I could give this place infinite stars, I would. The employees there actually care about their patients and are genuine in nature. The do an amazing job at making you feel right at home. I will NEVER ever go to any other vision place but this one. Also, Dr Paul Veld is a class act guy. He takes the time to explain things to you and make sure you are comfortable. He also goes out of his way to help as much as he can. Again, I cant emphasize enough at how amazing this place is. Please, give them a try, you won't be let down. This place is amazing! I never needed to see an eye doctor in my younger years but I realized the past couple months I can't read far things as well as I used too so I did a little research and called Veld Vision just to inquire and the woman on the phone was so sweet and explained how things worked and they were able to get me in the next day! My niece had new eye glass frames that i had to have. She referred me to Veld Vision. I passed many eye class stores to reach Veld. I was a walk in. One lady helped me with my vision insurance. I had a picture of the frames. A frame was ordered. After a few days, I hadn ' t heard back so i called to inquire about the frames. I was told they were in so i went in. These were not the frames. I broused & choose a pair of silhouettes instead. The lady who measured & processed my prescription was cool, very unfriendly & right to the point. I didn' t hear back after a few days so i called 1/4/17. I was told they were in & that a message had been left. I searched my phone & found NO call from Veld. I came in to pick the glasses up. The same lady i dealt with prior brought out the glasses for me to put on. Asked how do they feel & that was it. She DIDNT ADJUST THEM, I got" NO GLASS CASE", NO GLASS CLEANER, NO SMILE OR A THANK YOU!!! These days glasses can be processed the same day!!!! I will NEVER patronize or refer anyone to this place..... read more

I have been going to Veld Vision for about 10 years now. We have since moved out of the Crete area, but I still travel about thirty minutes there for my eye care. Veld has great customer service, reasonable prices and the staff is very friendly. I haven't found another Optometry location that compares. read more

I used to go here years ago, and always liked the service. i recently gave them a try, and I won't be coming back ever again. Dr Davids was incredibly nice, detailed and professional, but ultimately this practice is hurt by what I found to be very unhelpful staff. I finished my eye appointment and then started looking around at glasses. When I used to go to places like Target Optical, the employees would help me pick out frames, give me advice, etc. Here nobody even paid attention to me. Once I found a pair of glasses I had to ask someone to go through my lens order with me. The employee sat down and kind of slammed my paperwork down. She did really ask any questions, just picked up the glasses, looked at them, took measurements, etc. She eventually asked about anti-reflective lenses, which I've always had, but they were very expensive here, so I said "I usually get them but I'm going to skip it because my glasses are already over $250" (more than I paid at Target where they only give a partial reimbursement through VSP) and this would add another $50. She just said, "Ok," and gave no further advice. Once I got my glasses, I couldn't see out of them. Everything was foggy looking because I was seeing the reflection of my face and the lights in my glasses. They were useless. I called and asked if they could add the anti-reflective coating after the fact and they said, "sure, bring them in. When they were brought in, the $50 was out the window because they already processed my claim, so now it added another $90. I was pretty upset. I expressed my dissatisfaction (and very calmly) to another employee and, though she was sympathetic, she ultimately said there was nothing she could do, even when I said they've lost a customer over the fact that I wasn't really given advice or anything when buying the frames. I'd advise people to stay away. The prices are really high, and when I had a problem and contacted them to calmly express my disappointment, there was still nothing they could/would do to help. They're a business; there's ALWAYS something you can do if you care about your customers. Again, the Doctors here are great, but I guess I drew the short end of the stick with the staff because I really felt like it wasn't important that they guide me through to a good selection of options for what I'm used to. The woman I talked to when I made my complaint even said, "I wish you had seen me when you were in." That's not a good practice when there isn't consistent service and when a customer expresses disappointment in their service you just kind of act apathetic. read more

Zero stars. By far the worst customer service ever. They wait until less than 12 hours before your appointment to let you know there is a problem with the insurance. I have had the wrong contacts ordered on numerous occasions (each time they tried to pin the blame on me). The front office staff are rude and uninviting. I asked for a few sample contacts for all the grief and inconvenience and was told that was not their policy. They did nothing to make amends. I'm crossing the border and heading to Illiana Eye Care to see the best doctor ever. read more

I have never seen a more incompetent and rude office staff in my whole life. This place is more concerned about getting your money than your welfare. I have worn glasses and contacts for over 30 years and I have never had this much trouble with an eye doctor. The staff calls you repeatedly before your appointment to find how you plan to pay for your services. They called my insurance company before I came in to make sure I wasn't, "lying about my coverage". At that point I should have known something was wrong . After they verified my coverage they called to inform me it was "OK" to come in. Gee, thanks for allowing me to give you my business. After the doctor completed the exam they still could not figure out how to bill my insurance. Furthermore, they refused to order my contacts, until I straightened it out???? At this point, the insurance company was starting to make fun of them. In the end, I paid everything out of pocket and submitted the claim to the insurance company myself. I was reimbursed in less than a week. A glutton for punishment, I returned to have glasses fitted. Once again they could not figure out the insurance even with a three way conference call with the insurance company. Having had enough, I left without the glasses. I went to Lens Crafters and bought the same pair of glasses for $50 less. They billed my insurance, no problem. I had my glasses in an hour. I will NEVER go back to this place. I do not know how they stay in business. One other thing, it took three fittings to get my contacts right. I have never had that happen either. In total, I spent at least 8 hours trying to get contacts and glasses. Who has that kind of time? Not me. read more
