I had an old Alienware Aurora R8 computer, which ran super hot all the time. I needed to upgrade. So I did some research and found Velocity Micro. I went ahead and bought the Raptor Z95. The one word that comes to mind when I think of Velocity Micro is EXCELLENCE. And that is a quality that is hard to find these days. I was going to buy solely on their website, but I had questions, so I called and they completed the purchase by phone. There was no pressure to upgrade certain components, the gentleman helping me just answered my questions, gave me the information I needed to make an educated decision, and left it up to me to decide. So......I just got the new PC in the mail. It was extremely well packaged. They gave directions for unpacking the PC that were really clear, it didn't take me long to figure out what to do. Plugged everything in, and WOW. This PC is built with excellence in mind. I can't think of any higher praise. So I'll leave it at that. I even called them up to ask a question about the RGB fans, and I was quite distracted while I talked with their Tech Support, but the gentleman on the phone was so patient with me as I was figuring it all out. Velocity Micro assembles their PC's in America. And if you need your PC serviced, or upgraded, you can send it back in (it's not free because they are providing a service) but that really helps me to know they have my back. No, I don't work for them, nor does any family member of mine. I just really am THAT pleased with this company. So I hope this helps anyone thinking about purchasing from this company. They are WELL worth your business. (If anyone tells you I had a tear in my eye when I first fired up the PC, they're wrong. I had a piece of dust and I had to wipe it.) There was a backlog of my graphics card and kept me informed, communicated when it was ready to ship, and technical support helped me with a couple of specific issues on software to get me going. Purchased a PC from them years ago and was quite happy. They have gone quite downhill since then. Ordered a PC from them this year. When it was two weeks past the delivery date (with no contact from them), I talked to their chat support. They said 'they were sure it would ship soon'. I asked for a more concrete date than 'soon'. They said 'probably this week'. I finally got the PC 3 weeks after that. Again - at no point did they email me letting me know about any delays. Since then, I have emailed questions to support twice - and never received a reply. read more

OMG, the worst customer service! I purchased 2 very expensive custom builds and BOTH times they have let me down with no communication and no computer. Fool me once shame on you.... Fool me twice.... Why did I ever HOPE it was an isolated incident. When you order, they take your money, give you a ship date right up front.... Then WAY WAY after the ship date when YOU have to call to find out what the heck is going on they tell you they do have or can't get the part. Really, you should order the part or be able to say within a day if you have the part or not. How hard is that ? Now when your deadline is 2 weeks past.... They won't even step up to the plate to ship it to you next day because it would cost them money to get it to you by the deadline. Paul, the salesman is like please don't raise your voice ( poor baby) D something Paul ! But all you hear from them is it isn't my fault..... Then who's is it ? But don't ask to speak to the corporate office.... Because no one is there and no one calls back. That's if they don't hang up on you - twice. Ok, I've canceled my order !!!!! I will never purchase a $4000 custom computer from you again.... 2nd time! You've lost a customer.... I know you don't care. And you left me hanging for the last time costing me a ton of money waiting & relying on your company. All you had to do is communicate, call, send up smoke signals.....anything like, hey we cant get that part... or this part.... And then I can make a business decision. We ordered a high end video workstation from Velocity, and they estimated a 12 day build.. I paid $6,800 and followed up 10 days later. The reply to that follow up said that the new estimated delivery date was ANOTHER 30 to 45 days, all based on one $100 part, They said they had everything else in stock.. After consideration, I decided to cancel the order because they did not come close to delivering on time... They processed my refund minus a $1300 "restocking fee", for parts they said they already had in stock!!! In short, these guys are a bunch of greedy crooks. Can you believe it, a $1300 fee to cancel an order they were going to deliver 45 days late!?!? read more

I bought a computer from them a couple years ago and it's worked okay, but I way overpaid for it. Whatever, I was too lazy to build my own this time and paid a premium. I'll give them a pass on that. What I can NOT forgive is the way they treated me when I called them asking to purchase a replacement case. I had just moved cross country and the case got a huge ugly scratch on it in the moving van (we're talking like 18" so it's not an insignificant scratch). When I called the first time they said it wasn't a problem and that the case was about $230 and I said okay. They took my card over the phone and I thought all was well. A few hours later I got a call from somebody else that said that they can NOT sell me the case at ANY price because it was proprietary to them. The only option was to ship it to them and be without my computer for weeks and weeks and pay them more money to fix it. My computer was well out of warranty at this point and I just wanted to swap the case myself, but nope. Apparently they were terrified that I was going to try and sell a "bootleg" computer or something? I dunno. It was freaking weird. All I wanted was the same case that came with my computer. I didn't want a different case. I like my case. But my only options were to: #1 send it back to them and be without my computer for WEEKS and pay 3x what the actual case costs for them to swap it for me. or #2 buy a whole new computer from them. Well screw you, Velocity Micro! My computer works just fine but I'm going to have to live with a huge unsightly scratch (this is like a 18" scratch here) or buy a different case. I can't be without my computer for weeks at a time. And if I'm going with a different case I might as well just replace the whole computer. They treated me like I was some sort of bootleg criminal. Like seriously, there are waaaaaaay better ways to make money than selling "fake" Velocity Micro computers. I wasn't asking to buy 100 cases. I just want ONE for my own personal use! I'm looking at the scratch right now and just looking at it p*sses me off! read more

This was the first computer that I haven't built myself in the past 20 years. I recently bought a Z55 model, and have been extremely happy with its performance, and the build and assembly quality was amazing. I had several contacts with customer service while determining the configuration I wanted, and the people I communicated with could not have been more helpful. Overall a great experience. read more

Takes money for products they can't deliver. In August of this year, we ordered a new machine from Velocity Micro, and were quoted a delivery time of about three weeks. Three weeks came and went, and I contacted them, to be told that the motherboard our system needed was backordered, and there'd be a delay. Turned out to be about a month of delay. Later, that same system needed an upgraded power supply due to some parts we added. Velocity told me they could do the work, took our money, and we shipped the machine back. Now, they've had it for over a month and have told me a series of stories about cases being backordered, things not working, etc. The moral of this story is to not trust Velocity Micro if you need a machine anytime soon. read more

I originally one of their desk top machines loved it. So when it came time for me to buy a new laptop i thought i would go with the Raptor MX70. When i first got it , it was set up for the wrong person. I'm a programmer so i know a little about computers, my machine should have no problems doing the tasks i need it to do. when i first turn it on it works ok then as the day progresses it gets slower and slower preforming the same tasks until i'm waiting 3 to 4 mins for the laptop to save my progress. Tech support had me run a bunch of different tests found nothing to explain what was going on. Told me to send it back at my expense for them to check it out. i spent close to $2500 for the laptop an this is there best answer. read more

I have bought 2 Velocity Micro computers in the last 7 years, and both are working fine. The latest one I purchased just this year, and it will work with Windows 11, when it comes out, from all of the information I have. I highly recommend their products. I bought my first Velocity Computer over 12 years ago, have bought a few since, but even the very first one I bought is still running in our office. I tried other brands, but as an extreme user, with 3 CPU's running at the same time, I was frying others, in less than a year from massive amount of processing multi-media, graphics, video, encoding, and other high resource demand jobs. Hint" don't be cheap, pay a bit more for a slightly higher model than you think you need, and stay away from the disposable computer brands. They just burn out and take up space in landfills. read more

Update to my 2016 review: My original Z25 is still being used daily and I'm still more than pleased at its performance. A few months ago we purchased a second Z25 and I passed my original down to my husband. Again, great customer service and great performance in the new one. I purchased a laptop through them a few years back and specifically called them to double-check that I would be able to upgrade it to keep up with the times and not only was I told later it was unable to be upgraded, but when I actually learned more about computer and it's components I realized I overpaid tremendously and could have built a supercomputer for the amount I've spent. Lesson learned! I recommend before buying take some time to research components, builds, etc. Even now I see laptops for over $3000 that can be built for half the price if you get the same components yourself, and with newer better components. It's a trap for those who are not computer savvy. If you've written a 5-star review, do the research and you may feel differently after. Oh, and customer service didn't seem to care at all once I mentioned the above. You'd think they'd offer a trade-in with a discount on a new rig to make up for the misinformation, but no they said to buy a new one from them. Yeah right! I built my monster myself for less with an RTX 3080 which I don't see offered on their site only older models (2060, 2070) overpriced and I am extremely happy with my new build. read more

Do not order from this company. We have ordered both desktops and laptops in the past 2 months. The desktops were not delivered WHEN promised, and without any notice of the delay. We had to contact them and escalate the issue to get an answer. The laptops were worse. Not only were they significantly DELAYED in shipping, they fraudulently substitute another model - again without any notice or explanation. When confronted, they offered nothing but excuses. DO NOT trust their website or promises. Find another vendor, there are plenty who are more reputable, honest, and reliable. read more

Bought my first VM computer over 10 years ago, have purchased 4 more towers since and one laptop--have used these for both business and personal. Just placed an order for another desktop and had a great interaction with their customer support folks to help me optimize the build for large-file data crunching, as well as occasional gaming. The reason I keep going back is that their computers are superior to any that I've gotten through work or other brands that the kids wanted. After specing out the last one I got for work, I asked the IT guys if they could build me a similar computer from the brand that is normally supplied for a similar price and they said I was better off to just get the VM... nice testament from people in the business! read more

I purchased a desktop PC and had the worst experience I have had with any computer vendor dealing with VM. First of all, the computer shipped from VA to California with a defective memory. I had to call customer service a bunch of time while we tried to troubleshoot and ultimately had to send it back. They took no steps to expedite the delivery but rather I had to wait a week shipping each way to get it back. When they sent it back to me, they apparently had loaded on Windows 8 from another CD rather than the OEM version so I could not activate the product. I literally called 8 times to try to straighten this out before they finally got me a new product key. In the interim, they made me call back several times, call Microsoft to try to work it out, and send them various pictures. This process began in February and only was finally resolved in May! I found the customer service people to be generally unhelpful, rude, and not at all taking ownership of their product. I would never shop with them again, even though the computer I received is pretty powerful for the money I spent. I would gladly have spent another $300 to avoid all the delays and aggravation. read more

I ordered an Edge Z55 from them and couldn't be happier. I looked at a couple companies for a gaming PC and chose Velocity Micro because they had the best prices. For $2000 I got an i7, GTX760, 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM. The machine is a beast and has been playing everything on ultra settings and HD resolution. read more

I am on my 2nd computer from Velocity Micro. This one I have had 5 years with no problems until this summer. I contacted their support people and received excellent help. Finally it stopped working. I carried it in and about 3 hours later they called with the news that my power supply was bad, which I suspected. They also suggested a new hard drive as mine was not performing properly. I gave them the go ahead and the next afternoon I picked up the computer and could not be happier. Their personnel were knowledgeable and helpful. They have my business. read more

I am a computer resellar in NM. Bought 2 Cruz tablets. One was DOA. Sent it back on an RMA and never heard another thing from the company. I'm out $200 and can't find anyone to talk to about it. Thay discontinued the Cruz line and don't care about screwing a customer. Can't get to the corporate office. No phone number available. read more

We have been very disappointed with both the quality of our Velocity Micro laptop and the company's customer service. In less than two years, we've had to replace the laptop's harddrive and motherboard. The company repairs its computers in Richmond so we had to send our laptop there for the motherboard repair. The company provided us with a shipping label, but we paid the $29 cost to box up our computer for mailing and the $288 repair cost. A week after our laptop arrived in Richmond, customer service contacted us about sending a shipping label, although the computer had already arrived at their offices Another 5 days after we informed customer service they already had the computer, they verified their receipt of it and put it in the queue to be worked on. It took three more days for the motherboard to be replaced and shipped back; however our laptop returned with a dead button battery and would not boot up. It took us an additional 10 days to get a replacement battery, which came without installation instructions (which we received after another 4 days). We lost access to our computer for much longer than expected and lost business and personal data when the hard drive was wiped during repair (customer service reps. did not inform us about the wiping when we requested the repair). We discussed our problems with company representatives, but were unable to come to full resolution on them. As a result of these experiences, we would not purchase another product from Velocity Micro. read more
