I came here with a friend to do the deep scalp clean. It came with a shoulder massage as well. This was around $110 overall I felt like it was a very refreshing experience injury calming. I even fell asleep for a good amount of time because it was so relaxing. They showed images of what my scalp look like through a detector with their iPad so I can see the screen before and after it was clean and there was noticeable difference and they also recommended certain techniques for washing hair to keep it clean, especially the scalp. I was in the same room with my friend. The massage on the scalp was really relaxing too. They did use their nails quite a bit so depends if you like that or not. I thought that they washed my hair very thoroughly and definitely got all the places. They also had a steamer that I really liked for my face and applied a lot of good scented products. The water ring got really ticklish because I'm not used to like being sprayed with water and those areas on my neck but I got used to it. I would definitely come back again. read more

My fiance booked us a massage + facial +head spa. Now I know that with all that, there has got to be a focus and for this visit it was definitely the upper back massage. My lady went innnn and I loved it! Couple things from this package that I didn't find impressing is the enclosed massage hole. I dint feel like I had great airflow and the idea of breathing in from a sink just doesn't seem appealing nor was it enjoyable. The facial; the products didn't sting however it did when it got in my eye, I was a bit panicked bc I felt a bead in my right eye, I washed it off, it got better as the day went on but my eyelids were on fire for days, she didn't leave my under eye or my top lid alone instead she applied the products on top of them which I thought was interesting. The final thing I wasn't a fan of was that she kept putting her fingers inside my ears! I've been to a head spa in Orange County and they try their best not to wet your ears AT ALL, I mean, think about it, you're relaxing, and then boom! Water in your ears and fingers in your ears... idk, maybe to some it's not bothersome but to me it was uncomfortable. The ladies were so sweet though and nice, they blow dried my hair halfway which is totally fine. I definitely think there are couple things to consider but it wasn't a horrible experience! I have been to many head spas and was looking forward to redeeming my gifted 60m Deep Scalp Therapy session. It began with a very brief scalp analysis using a camera. I'm talking 1m of assessing a small portion of my head. After, I was given 50m of scalp cleansing and 10m for hair drying. I was serviced by Jackson who offered amazingg pressure during the scalp massage. They were gentle during the hair washing and gave me a nice blow out. In the end, my scalp felt squeaky clean and my hair super smooth. Typically, you are shown the aftermath of the scalp treatment using a camera but I did not experience this here. Other places also finish off with some sort of scalp therapy (serum, red light wand, etc.) but I was given simple hair oil for my blow out. The customer service overall was subpar but I may consider booking an Acupressure facial massage with Jackson; his massage technique earned this place an additional star :-) read more

Overall, booking process was easy and had a lot of options to pick from. The reason why it wasn't 4 stars was that I didn't appreciate that my shampoo lady was switched 20 mins prior to my appointment. I booked about 1-2 weeks in advance and did some research and picked my lady specifically. However, 20-30 mins prior to my appointment I got an unknown call so I didn't pick up. There wasn't a voicemail, but something in me told me to check the phone number and it was a number I had called before. So when I called back I was informed that the lady I picked is not available for my time-slot but will be available an hour later because they are with a client. Well this is where I am confused. Why did the lady I pick for my time-slot go into another appointment? Why didn't the other lady who was offered to me not go instead? I said fine because I was already on my way, but I basically never got the experience I was expecting. My lady was fine and I still had a decently good experience. As we checked in we were escorted to the back in front of glamour mirror and barber like chair. The host comes and run this device on your head to show you on his think pad or I pad the crap you have in your head. Once that done a room is prepared for your experience. We got the 60 min Scalp Care & Facial ($128 pp) couple package. which included a scalp analysis, deep scalp cleansing, steam mist treatment to remove buildup, deep scalp ...wow once the service stated I went to sleep for 20 mins because it felt good and relaxing. After seeing numerous insta ads for velvet head, Spa on Instagram, I decided to visit their location in Santa Clara today. They graciously accepted a very last minute appointment from me, the front desk staff was so nice. My hair wash tech was also kind. I want to mention that my expectations are very high as a consumer so please take that into consideration as you read my review. I do not find the experience to be anything luxurious or mind blowing. You must remove upper body clothing for the wash. They typically start with a facial, which I chose to opt out of. As this was my first experience at a head spa, I had questions throughout the service on what was being used, etc. if I did not ask, information wasn't shared. I mentioned that I have wavy to curly hair with the person who booked my appointment. Most of the service was a wet and cold experience. The beds aren't heated. My tech gave wonderful head massage, I just didn't like that she went straight from the foamy product being applied to my head and then spreading that foam along my neck and collarbone area when she was giving me the massage. I don't think they carry any luxury brand hair care here. Uncertain how they sanitize their brushes. They mentioned the products are all organic. The reason I left angry was: As my hair was being dried towards the end of my service, I noticed the BRUSH she was using on me!!!! The plastic bristles were all bent inwards and outwards out of shape! She used this on my WET hair. I even told her I had a wide tooth comb if she liked because I have curly hair. If this is what I noticed when my eyes were open, I can only imagine what was used during the washing service. The lack of consideration for their clients is obvious. I forgot to mention, when I walked out of the room where my hair was washed, I had to wait to get my hair dried because all the chairs were occupied. They have more wash rooms than chairs available so you continue to enjoy the wet and cold experience until a chair is empty. I just am so angry with myself for coming here. I booked a spontaneous appointment here after shopping in the Rivermark center and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. I stopped in early to check out the facilities and to ask what products would be used on my hair (Opalex and Ouai). The space was beautiful and relaxing. I am a Black woman with braided weft extensions and am very reluctant to have anyone touch my hair because of the complexity for the untrained stylist on my specific hair type. I want to point out that the woman on all of the professional photos for this experience looks Black with curly hair, so that is marketing directly to someone like me. When I arrived at my 6 pm appointment, I was greeted kindly and taken back to my room. The room was clean and dimly lit. I booked the basic scalp care with a back massage. My technician/stylist was Daniel. Daniel was excellent and gave an awesome back massage, he checked in on me several times to ensure that the pressure was sufficient and that I was enjoying. The hair wash was wonderful! Daniel was so kind and handled my hair with care. Daniel washed my hair thoroughly and the head massage was a 10 star experience. Daniel also checked in on me during the wash and ensured me that all was well and that I could relax - I thought that was so kind of him. After my wash, Daniel took me to the styling chair and offered to blow dry my hair, which I kindly declined (I went home right after this appointment to fully style my hair and it's best for me to blow dry my hair wet and then flatiron/style directly after). What Daniel did do at the styling chair is patiently ensure that my hair was detangled. He took such excellent care washing my hair that my hair was not tangled at all and combed out easily. Extra points for having a wide tooth comb for my curls - smile! Over all, this was an excellent experience, however, I am not sure that I would come back, only because I am a bit confused with the 1/2 done hair concept. Even if Daniel had blow dried my hair, at that point, my hair is only 1/2 done because there is no styling. I couldn't tell if this is supposed to be a massage salon that does hair washing or a hair salon that does massages. Regardless, I still came home and spent 1 hour blow drying and flat ironing my own hair, but I was completely relaxed while doing it. At my regular hair salon, I would have paid less for a wash, blow dry and flat iron, but I would not have received this amazing massage (scalp or back). Went here for a ladies spa day to unwind and reset. I've always been wanting to try this place and found out that they opened a 2nd location in Santa Clara. They currently have a promo going on that offers 20% off your service (not sure how long this promo with last for). My friend and I both got the 90 mins Velvet Head Spa Signature. Before they started, they showed your scalp through what looks like a stylus microscope. They went over how dry or oily your scalp is and what you should do to prevent it. Then they walk you to one of their 5 rooms. My friend and I were able to share a room for our service. They first started off with a 25 min neck, shoulders, arms, and head massage. Then moved on to the Acupressure facial therapy with deep cleansing, face massage, face mask and neck mask. Lastly, they did a deep scalp cleansing, shampoo and massage. Once they wash your hair, you then move to the drying station where they blow dry your hair. At the end, they show your scalp again and you can see an improvement. Overall the experience was so relaxing and refreshing. The staff were very friendly and nice. I was surprised how good the massages were given that they specialize in scalp treatment. The deep scalp therapy is great, they look at your scalp on some sort of magnifying thing and then tell you what they see and what they think you need in order to improve your scalp health. One thing I wish they had done was show me a post-treatment scalp analysis so I could see the difference after the session. I could smell alcohol in one of the products that was sprayed on my face which left my face red and burning. It's been a couple days since the appointment and my skin is dry and flaking/peeling everywhere. My skin has never reacted this up until this point. Made an appointment over a month ago for a Mother's Day gift for my mom. Two hours before got a call from an unregistered number, they didn't leave a voicemail. When I called they asked if they could push back my appointment. I agreed to that. 10 minutes later they called again asking to push it back another 30 minutes. That was unfortunately the case here. Ailyn was kind and reciprocative to my request but the technique was lacking. The experience itself was relaxing, and it was nice to do something different together. That said, I feel this is more of a one-time treat. The pricing felt a bit high for what it was, and I didn't notice a significant difference in my scalp, even with the before-and-after imaging. One aspect that really bothered me was being contacted twice to come in earlier than my scheduled time. There was no specific reason given--just repeated requests to move my appointment up. It made me feel like my chosen time wasn't respected, or that maybe they were trying to accommodate someone else. The spa is absolutely stunning modern, clean, and beautifully designed for that perfect Instagram worthy moment. Aesthetically, it's a 10/10. Unfortunately, the actual Velvet Special experience fell short in a number of ways. The facial didn't feel like a facial at all, it was more of a light pat down with minimal technique, no real massage and certainly no lymphatic stimulation. My upper back was never touched, despite that being part of the expected service, and the scalp therapy was indistinguishable from a regular shampoo. It felt rushed and lacked the attention you'd expect from a premium treatment. The hair service was especially disappointing. After the wash, hardly any product was used, leaving my naturally textured, curly hair dry, brittle, and completely unstyled. It was clear the staff was unfamiliar with how to care for my hair type, and there was no communication or realistic expectation setting about what the end result might be. I walked out feeling more embarrassed than pampered. While the spa's ambiance is undeniably beautiful, the actual services don't match the luxury aesthetic. For a place that markets a high end experience, more attention to technique, client comfort and inclusivity in hair care is badly needed. They spend a majority of the session squeezing my head especially over my temples and when they did the analysis afterwards you could clearly see several red marks over my scalp from the aggressive scrubbing - these were not there when they analyzed my scalp before the treatment. I did the couple velvet signature with my husband. We came on a Friday night at 5 pm and were welcomed with an analysis of our scalp. They gave some good advice on how to improve your scalp so that was nice. They started with a massage, then did a facial massage and the scalp routine. I felt like they took their time with it because we were there for quite some time. And they ended it with blow drying our hair and he actually styled it which was nice. I would def come back! I'm writing this review as someone who's been coming back monthly since 2023. I started off going to their Campbell location for about a year and a half, and now my new go-to is the Santa Clara location. My favorite techs have been relocated here anyway. I'm genuinely impressed with all of the techs who have touched my head and face. Even my "worst" experience, I would still rate it four stars. They all follow the same main steps, but the way they implement those steps varies between technicians, and that's what I love. I appreciate the little "innovations" and unique style each tech developed. Without looking, I can immediately tell who is working on me by their signature technique alone. When my preferred tech isn't available, whoever gets me still delivers, so that calms my anxiety knowing I'll be in good hands regardless of who works on me. Now, one thing I do want to point out is that some of them wear gloves and some don't. I'd preferred no gloves, but I fully respect any tech's decision to use gloves for their own safety and comfort, as long as the gloves fit nicely on their hands and fingers and do not make me feel like loose latex/nitrile is being rubbed on my face. Now, Velvet Head Spa is very lucky because they have very competent techs who carry the entire establishment. The front desk staff, however, is between 3.0 and 3.5 stars. They're sometimes inconsistent about their processes. Sometimes they skip the scalp evals either in the beginning or at the end. There were multiple times they tried to move my appointment around to accommodate their operational needs. But isn't the point of having a schedule is for customers to choose the best time slot that works for them? This may become an issue on a busy day for me. I don't spend a lot of time with the front desk staff, so I let the little annoyances go, as the main event is the service itself. They've come a long way since 2023 and truly embodied continuous improvement. I'm very picky and can be a perfectionist, so impressing me is no easy feat. Velvet Head Spa honestly earned this glowing review! I didn't jump on here to write this review because they wowed me 1 time. I was waiting to see if they're going to flop... and they never did. I might shed a tear or two because finding a beauty service establishment that lives up to MY standards? Unicorn status in my eyes. read more

I wish I had a better experience but maybe I was just assigned to the wrong person. I see how the headrest is supposed to look in the picture, and when I was laying down on my face, there were no towels. My face was in so much pain stuck in the hole. In addition, the lady who was assigned to me didn't introduce herself or anything. I've been to a $40 head spa and the customer service there was soooo much better. She didn't even tell me "please let me know if the pressure is too much for you" before she started the massage. Of course I could have said something but having gone to other cheaper head spas, it's natural to have higher expectations when you're paying more for the service. I'm also not sure how experienced she is at giving massages because she was digging straight into my bone. I'm pretty sure that's not how massages work. I'm not at the chiropractor's. I don't want my bones cracked. The funniest part was at the end when she couldn't even dry my hair correctly. I had hair sticking all over my face, and she just left it there. Also, the heat from the dryer was so hot I'm pretty sure it burned my scalp. I had to ask multiple times to lower the heat. I feel like it's common knowledge that you don't leave the dryer in the same spot for more than a couple seconds. Somehow my hair looked terrible after the dry lol To top it off, when they were doing the before and after of my scalp imaging, it lowkey looked the same.
