It's been about 2 1/2 years since I last visited this location, but it continues to be a relaxing oasis in the middle of Santana Row. I was way overdue for a relaxing treatment, and Burke William didn't fail to deliver! 10:15 AM on a Friday in late May, parking was easy, and most of the stores on The Row were just waking up. Ascending the staircase to the front doors of BW, almost feels magical. I was quickly greeted, given a key to my locker, and then the doors of Oz opened! The lighting is just right, and the facilities are spotless. The robe awaiting me in my locker, unfortunately, was a size petite... I'm 6'1" 250 pounds though! I encountered another patron (i think) who reached through an 'employees only' door to find a 4XL sized robe which fit perfectly. Took a 15 minute jacuzzi. After helping myself to some cucumber, water and lemonade, I relaxed/napped in the waiting room for about 10 minutes... Waiting for my name to be whispered. The shiatsu/Swedish massage from Deirdre (sp?) was exquisite! Right pressure. Right amount of engaging conversation. She answered my questions and offered suggestions with just the right amount of empathy. After the 50 minute massage, I returned to the locker room for a session in the sauna, steam room, and took a shower. I wish the changing area in the locker room was a bit roomier, but that is my only gripe. read more

I had a 10AM Facial scheduled they call me at 9:15AM to tell me that the person assigned to do my facial wasn't available and they could fit me in but not till 1:30PM I explained i came all the way from SF and was already in the area. Customer Service was horrible no remorse or didn't feel like they cared about how upset I was Didn't even call me the night before when she said they knew about it since the night before or I would've never made the trip out. Wasn't really give any other options but to wait till 1:30PM so I did not take that option since I was already in the area at 9AM. Horrible! I bought a membership here for my wife and have also gotten a few massages for myself. The quality of the massages have always been great - so kudos to the experience and training of the masseuses. However, nearly every time we've come here, the checkout process is somehow botched - resembling closer to a bad DMV experience - and takes way too long to resolve. And this is for monthly paying members. The checkout process should be close to SEAMLESS for a standard massage that's included in the monthly membership. Please review your technology behind the counter and/or the training you give your staff on those systems. My best friends treated me and our other best friend to a day at Burke Williams to celebrate our milestone birthdays, and it was such a special experience. The four of us arrived early and took our time enjoying the amenities. The cozy fireplace, the relaxing lounge, and the complimentary hot and cold wellness drinks were the perfect way to ease into the day. The only place we weren't able to go into was the quiet room bec it was full. I had a 50-minute massage with Sunny and she was incredible. She had the perfect touch and pressure, knew exactly where I needed the most work, and was so attentive the entire time. She even made sure my friend and I, together with our 2 best friends, had celebratory drinks and charcuterie after our treatments, which made the experience feel even more personal. We loved the hot tub, sauna, and steam room, and really took advantage of everything the spa had to offer. If I had to name one small improvement, it would be having more hair ties (had to ask for them) and some basic hair styling products available in the locker room. First, I want to say that I love, LOVE, L-O-V-E having the Deluxe Membership! After having it for a few months now, I absolutely LOVE it! It forces me to slow down & do something very nice for myself. I also LOVE the perks: - way better pricing (member pricing) - monthly member specials - their skin care products are amazing & members receive 20% off - points roll over to the following month (but will expire after that if unused, so again, forces me to do something very nice for myself on a regular basis) - the robes! Oh the robes! - the citrus water/juice. Oh my god! BUT, I wasn't a fan of the employee (uniform is black bottoms, white button up, w/turquoise scarf) standing at the entryway of what most day spas would call a relaxation room, but theirs is kind of a hybrid room. Anyways, she acts as a hostess. But, I've already checked in at the front desk w/my name, appt time, etc... She asks me if I have a service today? (Well, yes, it just so happens that I do... hence the big white fluffy robe & key card attached to me arm as In entering the "relaxation room". As a regular of downtown SF's Burke Williams, it was the end of an era when they shut down. Recently, my group decided to try their Santana Row location to see how it compared to the one we used to know. Booking our 80-minute appointments via phone was a breeze, & we were met by professional staff at check-in. They're in the business of customer care & it shows in all points of contact. My masseuse was completely lovely & used a gentle touch when I needed but I was working with an injury & I don't think she knew how to handle such an issue. As they aren't physical therapists, know your body's limits before engaging their services. Nice touch keeping my robe in a warmer during my treatment. After our massages, we took advantage of their amenities: steam room, sauna, quiet room, & jacuzzi (loved the cold hand towels to help keep you cool.) If memory serves (& if I'm not simply romanticizing my old fave), the SF location was more spacious & had a more updated appearance. As this location is inconvenient for me, I'll be booking Burke Williams far less than I did when they were in SF; but for those who frequent Santana Row, this day spa is undoubtedly a lush experience. read more

With its grand curved staircase to the entryway and it's absurdly high pricing, I was expecting quite the experience from Burke Williams, and it came pretty close to delivering. To start, the customer service here was great, probably the best part of my experience. Everyone was very professional and friendly, and ensured that the customer was number one. It was my first time here and I they were happy to help me schedule over the phone and give me a tour upon arrival. I came about an hour before my massage to get checked in and enjoy the amenities, check in and the tour took a little longer than expected, so if you're a first timer I'd recommend coming even earlier to really get to experience it all. The spa has a unisex waiting area and then a women's and men's side. The women's spa side included a very large jacuzzi, sauna, steam room (which was closed when I was here), quiet room with reclining chairs, showers, and plenty of toiletries. The amenities were nice and never felt too crowded, though I was here on a weekday in the middle of the day. After enjoying the amenities, I got what I came here for, a massage. Since it was my birthday I got an upgrade and chose to change my pure relaxation massage to the detox option. I probably wouldn't choose this on the regular as it is a bit more expensive and isn't as relaxing, but it was nice to get the himalayan salt scrub and the aromatherapy. My only real complaint about my visit is that it was pretty loud in the hallways. During my massage I could hear people scuffling by and having full volume conversations. I was first introduced to Burke Williams on my 24th birthday by my mom. And I must say... it's a must to come here on my birthday yearly! (I wish monthly lol) The staff is super friendly and attentive to every needs. You get your own locker which includes your robe and sandals. I bring a separate change of clothes and my bathing suit to use the amenities. They have a hot tub, steam room, sauna, misting room, showers and a quiet room. The staff are also very detailed on explaining the treatments given prior. They also have a clean organized station of towels, baggies for wet clothes, iced towels,razors and razor creams, hair brushes and hair styling tools. They also serve delicious and cold beverages as well as some fruit and hot tea. It is best to eat before (lightly) My new favorite booking is a spa facial. It's truly a relaxing and refreshing experience. I had Ashley today and she was so sweet and very helpful to heal my dry skin. The place is pricey but it's worth it! The Burke experience is only as good as your therapist and Allegra was incredible-- thus it was a remarkable experience! I don't know how to even describe how knowledgeable, experienced and technical Allegra was. It was so refreshing having someone with her expertise to be my therapist. There was a hiccup at checkup but Diana (the manager) was able to quickly figure out the problem, helped alleviate the stress and make things work. It was superbly clean and the attendants were attentive, always cleaning and just made the amenities experience bar none. It was the reset two tired moms didn't realize we needed. One important thing to note for future guests: although Burke Williams technically allows cell phone use, the service inside the spa is very poor. I wasn't really able to check in or use my phone during the session due to little to no reception. I took my mom here for a much relaxing day and omg we had such an amazing time! Love that we felt comfortable in the ladies only section since we wear a hejab. We were welcomed and accommodated . There is a steam room ( my favorite), sauna , jacuzzi, showers and locker room . They also provide a hair dryer and make up station which was awesome! This Burke Williams location is my all time favorite spa to date! I have gone here a couple of times with my friends and we always leave feeling relaxed and happy. You want to make sure you plan to stay there long enough to enjoy all the facilities! It is pricey and treatments do book up fast. I would recommend booking a couple months in advance to get the itinerary you want! Make sure to eat before because if you are there all day they really only have fruit and beverages. **Loved coming here--until today.** Let me start with the good things about this place. It's located in Santana Row, surrounded by great shops and restaurants. The waiting area has plenty of seating, along with items to browse or buy. On the men's side, there are lockers, a jacuzzi pool, steam room, dry sauna, and showers. There's even a quiet room if you want to relax and read a magazine. They also offer fruits, teas, lemonade, and water. If you're getting a massage, I highly recommend my favorite therapist, Saul--he's amazing and will probably have you drifting off to sleep. Lol. **Now, the not-so-great parts:** They recently started charging for parking, and the spa doesn't validate. Today, I found out my membership was canceled because the SF location closed. The staff at Santana Row never gave me a heads-up, and instead just blamed the SF location. Come on--you could've at least let me know and offered to transfer my membership here. Also, the jacuzzi is occasionally out of order, and there's no compensation or notice when that happens. The website for booking appointments is frustrating--there's no easy way to check your favorite therapist's availability. You have to check each day manually. I have been a member of Burke Williams for over 10 years. I have been struggling with my members which continues to expire. I recently signed up for the most expensive message ($250) because I did not want my benefit to expire. The customer service representative confirmed that my benefit will NOT expire because I was getting a service. A few weeks later, I called to check in on my benefits only to discover hundreds of dollars HAD expired. The agent could NOT explain what has taken place. This is not the first time I have run into this. Burke Williams continues to practice unethical financial corruption stealing consumers account balances. My wife splurged on a massage for my birthday at this location. She had a Christmas's gift card so we made a day of it. Took the rugrat to daycare and checked in to BW around 9:15 am to use the amenities before getting a deep tissue massage. Would I recommend BW Santana Row location? Sure. Do I think it was worth the price? Not really.. there are standard amenities in the men's side of the spa, jacuzzi, steam room, dry room, cold plunge, showers, toiletries.. I guess I just wanted a wow factor and I didn't feel like it was there. The place needs some updating. One of the men's room showers had terrible pressure. My deep tissue massage was needed. I had a ton of knots in my back. The masseuse was great, maybe I just need 90 min next time. I think the price of this location is a representation of where it is, rather than the experience. I received a gift card for Burke Williams for Christmas, which I recently used on my first visit to any Burke Williams Spa. I've always thought that the prices at Burke Williams were too high, which is why I hadn't gone out of my way to try one. For example, it's $200 for a 50-minute relaxation massage for a non-member. I have massage therapist whom I go to for a 90-minute Ashiatsu massage that's $180. I get that the hefty price tags at Burke Williams also include access to their spa and lounge amenities, but I've gone to more luxurious Korean spas with all the same offerings for a third of Burke Williams' price. That being said, I ended up succumbing to their 6-month essentials membership. It wasn't the spa amenities that did it for me but rather my massage therapist, Reyna. She was so sweet and highly professional, and she did such an amazing "pure relaxation" massage. It was such a contrast from the deep tissue work that my go-to massage therapist does with Ashiatsu. I loved the pure relaxation massage so much that I felt like I needed to include this as part of my wellness routine. Plus I liked Reyna and would only go to her. However, it only made sense to do the $155 essentials membership to make it worthwhile. My membership does include access to the members only spa, which may change my mind about the value of their onsite amenities the more I go. Lastly, I did appreciate the great customer service. Lisette, who helped me at the reception area, was very friendly and helpful. She gave me a tour of Burke Williams, including the members only spa after I signed up for the essentials package. read more

I had one of the most unprofessional massage experiences I've ever had, with Diego as my massage therapist. From the start, he asked what areas I wanted to focus on, and I specifically said my right shoulder area and my left low back. Instead, he spent the first 20-30 minutes only on my upper traps. The shoulder area includes the rhomboids, scapula, and around the shoulder blade, which I had to point out to him during the massage. When I asked for deeper pressure, he interrupted several times to ask if the pressure was okay, but he still wasn't going deep enough. When I pointed again to the shoulder blade area, he massaged there briefly but commented, "It doesn't feel tight here." I told him it was in fact tight, he just needed to go deeper. At one point, he offered if I wanted to change masseuse. I asked how much time we had left, and he said 20 minutes, and that if I did change it would have to be an hour later. I told him that's fine, then I'd rather him just finish up the last 20 minutes. About 10 minutes later -- now 50 minutes into a 65 minute massage -- he interrupted again and asked if I wanted to stop at 50 minutes and just pay for that time. I said no, I wanted the full session I booked, and asked him to focus on my low back for the last 10 minutes since he hadn't addressed it at all. At that point, he told me, "I don't feel comfortable, so I'm just going to stop it here and you can talk to a manager." He then ended the session prematurely, which was incredibly unprofessional. To make matters worse, as soon as he left the room, I got up and could not find my robe anywhere. It had been hanging on the door when I entered. No one told me robes are sometimes placed in a heater caddy, so I had no idea where it went. Feeling vulnerable and upset, I had to yell down the hall for help. Another staff member eventually brought me a robe. That moment left me extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully, the manager Inga was very kind and professional. She listened to me, comped the session, and even booked me another appointment with a different masseuse for Sunday. I greatly appreciate how she handled the situation and made me feel heard -- but the experience with Diego was unacceptable. I hope management takes this seriously, holds Diego accountable, and ensures better training in communication, professionalism, and client care. No guest should be made to feel embarrassed, unsafe, or blamed during a service they are paying for. read more

I'm kind of mad at myself. I've literally been sitting in $400 worth of gift cards to Burke Williams for YEARS now. Someone who loves me very much purchased them for me so I might treat myself. Well, fast forward to about $2K worth of gift cards getting stolen from my home, and realizing these were stashed away in a separate area, so I booked the Sunday before Mother's Day. I had a wet room treatment, and I knew it was important to go early and enjoy the amenities, and I arrived 4 hours before my service. I used EVERY single minute up. I was sad there were 2 broken features (the steam room and the tubs weren't available), but I loved the cold mist room. It was a pleasant way to cool down my core. And why is the lemonade and tea so tasty? I was on a bit of a fresh fruit/veggie fast, but I could have guzzled the lemonade up in my hydro flask. I wish I brought to go cup to take the yumminess home with me. Staff was friendly, accommodating, and kept the women's dressing areas clean and dry. I also heard staff approaching a taller, woman to make sure they had a robe that would be comfortably oversized for her. On my next visit I'll request smaller sandals, because I always feel like I'm wearing clown shoes in the one size fits all sauna sandals. But, my technician for the wetroom treatment was perfect. Initially quiet, very heavy hands during the scrub, I felt like she had wiped away all the dead layers of bad energy clinging to me. I left, still fat, but at least feeling refreshed, renewed, and in love with myself again. I know I can't do this weekly, but I do think it is important to find a quarterly budget for this type of treatment. Thank you Diedra, I will be back! The spa itself has a nice relaxing ambiance, and really nice facilities to enjoy before or after your treatment. After my experience, I decided to give the the monthly membership a try. I figured this would give me and my wife an excuse to visit Santa Row on a monthly basis. I've been coming to this place for a very long time, and after all these years, it's pretty much the same. Many reviews mention that the space could use some upgrades or updates. While that's not entirely wrong, the place is actually very well maintained and super clean. The upgrades I'd agree with are robes with pockets and digital lockers. When it comes to treatments, this place is excellent. The staff is great--I've tried several estheticians and massage therapists, and they've all been consistently good. You really can't go wrong. My main issue is with the behavior of some other spa-goers. This is supposed to be a place for quiet and relaxation, it should be more like a library but some people treat it more like a restaurant or bar. They talk loudly and continuously throughout the spa area, especially in the jacuzzi. It's frustrating and disruptive, especially since the jets make people raise their voices even more--right next to the sign that clearly says "Quiet Zone." Guests shouldn't have to be the ones enforcing the rules, so I rely on the staff to maintain a calm and peaceful environment. I did mention it to the front desk, and I hope they'll take steps to address it. I've been to other spas that manage to keep things quiet in a gentle, respectful way. read more

I've been plenty of times since then, and after going to many different spas across the California and the rest of the country, I've realized that the price you pay at Burke really isn't worth it. So, do they have excellent customer service? Yes. Have my treatments been consistently great? Yes. So why 3-stars? Has the spa had any renovations or upgrades in the last 20 years? No, not really. The facility hasn't physically changed in any significant way. Same decor, same lockers, same everything. Also, it's 2025. Can we get some pockets for our robes? Can we use digital locks so we don't have to carry around that annoying key? So even after saying all this, do I still like going to Burke? Visited Burke Williams at Santana Row to rejuvenate myself after a tough 2025 and to get ready for the challenges of a new year. Signed up for the 50-minute massage which includes free use of spa amenities. Everything like robes, slippers, and towels are also included. Only thing to bring is a swimsuit if you're self-conscious. Arrived about 1.30 minutes before appointment so had plenty of time to use the hot tub, sauna and steam room before my massage. Showers had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Cameryn (spelling?) was great. Even though it was a relaxation massage, she was able to loosen my neck and shoulders too. One week after the massage and I'm still sleeping like a baby. One downside to this spa is popularity. Think this is the only Burke Williams left in the Bay Area. Needed to arrive early to beat the crowd. By the time we left for lunch a little after noon, the place was bustling. Another downside is location. Took 1 hour and 10 minutes to drive down to the South Bay with traffic. The return trip only took 22 minutes. On second thought maybe this should count as a positive; otherwise, I would be at the spa every day, all day. So short of moving back to San Jose, wish they would open a location in the East Bay, somewhere like Walnut Creek would be awesome. read more

My recent "girls spa day" at Burke Williams was unfortunately disappointing. This was my first visit since before COVID, and while the interior and amenities were exactly as I remembered, the price had increased significantly, with a relaxation facial/massage now costing $200 for non-members, up from $140. The facilities felt tired and outdated. One of the steam rooms was still out of service, just as it was years ago. It's a real eyesore next to the hot tub, and it's frustrating to see it hasn't been fixed after all this time. The most jarring part of the visit was the constant interruptions. My group and I were repeatedly told to keep our voices down--we were told six times in an hour! We were not being loud, and other groups were making more noise, yet we were asked to keep quiet along with the other group. The staff explained that noise travels to the lobby, but it's unreasonable to expect spa-goers to be completely silent, especially when they're there with a group of friends for a relaxing day. It was incredibly irritating and made it impossible to relax. The service was also inconsistent. When I asked for a banana around 11 a.m., I was told they were out, which seemed odd so early in the day. However, I noticed after my facial that all the fruits had been restocked, which made me feel like the staff member either wasn't looking or didn't care to help. On a positive note, my facial was great. I didn't catch her name, but my esthetician was informative and sweet. She's the only reason I'd consider returning. This was also a birthday celebration for my friend. I had notified the staff when I made the reservation, and after a mix-up with the name, I had to call and correct it the day before. On a previous visit for my mom's birthday, they provided a lovely treat plate with a sign. This time, however, there was nothing, only the birthday enhancement. It felt much less celebratory than I had hoped, which was especially a shame since it was my friend's first time there. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this spa. The Hubby got me a gift certificate for Christmas and I ended up becoming a Deluxe member so I enjoy my spa day every month. Nearby parking is free for the first two hours and the location is right in the heart of Santana Row. Unfortunately I can't take photos inside but once inside you'll be greeted with a warm smile for your check in. There's two sections for members and non members. Both sides offer personal lockers, individual showers, saunas, hot tubs with BW toiletries. There's always plenty of water, lemonade, and hot tea as well as fresh fruit. There's so many spa services available for men and women. The hot tubs have chair lifts for accessibility. Everything is super clean and safe. I would like to shout out Destiny for always being so polite and friendly and the front desk team for such excellent customer service as well as Vi who has magic hands. read more

I wanted to follow up on my previous experience. I'm so happy to share that this visit was a complete turnaround. All thanks to Jeri, who went above and beyond to make things right. Her follow-up and effort truly made a difference, and that kind of care and attention is what makes a business stand out. From the moment I arrived, the staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. My massage started right on time and lasted the full duration I had booked. This time, everything felt perfectly in sync. Each massage therapist brings their own unique touch, and while my last therapist did wonders for my back, this time I had someone who was absolutely amazing with leg work. I'm usually very ticklish on my legs, but she used just the right technique so that it felt therapeutic instead of ticklish. She also worked on a knot I had in my neck, which brought much-needed relief. My pregnancy bath was once again relaxing and soothing, and this time I had a different selection of fruits and sweets that made it feel fresh and new. What I especially appreciated was having time to unwind with some tea, a quick restroom break, and just breathe before the bath began.. Something I didn't get to enjoy last time. Overall, this visit felt calm, unhurried, and deeply relaxing.. Exactly what I needed! I left feeling cared for and truly at ease. I'm so pleased with how everything was handled and genuinely look forward to coming back postpartum. Very posh. Very upscale. Very boutique. Kinda expensive? Most definitely it's relaxing. The sitting area is super cute, decorated with rich colors and vibrant red pillows. I tried an hour massage here and I wish I remember my therapist's name but he was a delight, i'm pretty sure Burke Williams probably has it in my records when I signed in. Anyway 10 out of 10 stars for my massage therapist. The jacuzzi was all so nice and relaxing. My only thing about this location is that they do not offer couples massages which would have been beneficial for all my friends who got married this year as I like to give luxury experiences as wedding presents. But only four stars for Burke Williams because there are some mild pure pressure tactics to try and sign up for a continuous service which did not allow me to give it much thought so I declined at the time but I do hope to come back and experience their day spa again. read more

I came here with my mom and her friend to relax. I've had my eye on this place for years, but I've never had a good reason to come here until now! I booked us all Burke Williams 65 minute massages. Coordinating to make sure that there are three scheduled openings on the website was difficult, so definitely periodically check. I wish we got here earlier prior to closing, but we were running on a time crunch. The amenities are lovely. I almost felt like I was paying for access to the lounge and the hot tub/showers/sauna instead of the massage service instead (I'm 200% sure they bake that into the price tag as an indirect cost, so if you're just looking to get a massage on your lunch break definitely do NOT go here, it is not economical). It was a very luxurious experience that I enjoyed immensely. I felt my worries wash away in the hot tub and sauna, and drinking the infused water and lemonade with a cold towel on my face helped me calm down before my massage. My masseuse was positively lovely, she spoke with me when I showed interest (since I'm sure that some people prefer to be quiet and enjoy their massage in silence, each to their own) and was very receptive to when I would flinch or relax. I would much rather pay for a massage in the morning and then spend the rest of the day enjoying myself in the spa, I don't know if they have in and out privileges but if they did I'd spend the entire day at Santana Row!! read more

This was my first time coming here. I was very excited for an all inclusive spa day. The facilities are a little out dated but the atmosphere is lovely. The staff are nice and helpful. The amenities are nice. There is a hot tub, steam room, mist room and a quiet room. Water, tea, lemonade and fruit are out for everyone. Makes for a nice experience. The services. I got a 90min massage and a 20min bath soak. Let's start with the massage. The tech was nice and asked a lot of good questions. The table was awful. I was tilted downward the entire time. The blood rushed to my head so fast I felt sick. I told her how uncomfortable I was and she adjusted my head which was not the problem. I repeatedly told her I was having a hard time breathing due to the table being tilted so far forward. She just told me the table isn't tilted....im the one barely breathing I think I know. The massage was ok but would have been better had I been able to breathe and relax. The bath...I don't recommend this. The tub is high off the ground making it hard to navigate getting in and out safely, also there is no privacy. Guest stood right outside and had loud conversations about their personal lives. Absolutely zero relaxation happened. There should have been a sign that said services in progress please be quiet. All in all not the best experience but hoping next time will be better. I always give two chances to places. The three stars are for the nice atmosphere and staff. read more
