Velvet. Vibrant. Versatile. This decadent frozen dessert creamery located on Ventura Blvd between Van Nuys Blvd and Cedros Avenue (but very much closer to Van Nuys Blvd) in Sherman Oaks is new to me, but not to the neighborhood since it's opening in late 2024. Formerly Pardis, a similar concept with a variety of gelato style flavors. Velvet takes it to a more elevated level with a great mix of assorted goodness, but also several dairy free flavors for lactose intolerant, plant-based and slightly healthier option. These options also include milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cookies, cookie cookies, hot chocolate, pints, scopes and more! All are available in vegan form I had a scope of the Peanut Butter Chip and it was an instant win! The physics menu inside isn't as easy to navigate as all the flavor options aren't played out but all the types of offerings are as well as sizes. The case where all the magic is and happens however very much has all their good variety. Don't forget some toppings and to put some change in your metered street parking (mostlywhats available here on Ventura/Van Nuys Blvds). Cool places to sit and hang, free Wi-Fi and lots of great lighting from the window. The girl who rang me up was nothing but helpful with extra sprinkles of kindness. Definitely would co here for a mini work day and try a good variety or maybe even grab a pint in their cold box to go. 2pm to 12am most days, including Monday through Thursday. Open until 1am Friday and Saturday and as early as noon of the weekends. "Scopes" the limit!

My kids really enjoyed their ice cream here! They both chose the Cookies & Cream flavor and loved it. The shop offers a wide variety of ice cream flavors and plenty of toppings to choose from, so there's something for everyone. The place is also cute, cozy, and family-friendly. We especially liked that they have games available, which kept the kids entertained while we enjoyed our treats. A great spot to visit with family!

Vegans and gluten free ice cream flavors and toppings. The vegan ice cream is oat based. They also have normal dairy ice cream. Plus they have fun table games to play with your friends - connect four, tic tac toe, jenga, etc. service was friendly and they let you try all the ingredients. It's a fun spot. Bright lively and kid friendly.

Great ice cream cafe! They have a very nice selection of different kinds of ice cream, the design of the place is modern and beautiful and they have different table games available, which my kids love so much. The customer service was excellent too. Will definitely come back for more!

OMG what a cute find! I would say hidden gem but it's on Ventura and not hidden lol. I was craving sumn sweet, but my partner is not eating dairy right now so that's makes it a little tougher for fining good places. We were delighted by the selection, even at the end of the night they had around 6 vegan flavors available and they were delicious! Shoutout to the lady working was SO kind and helpful letting us try as many flavors as our lil heart desired and joyfully! You can tell she enjoys working there and helping. I got a double scoop of orange creamsicle and Oreo crème and he got a vegan sundae with hazelnut crunch and oatmeal cookie gotta come back for the vegan chocolate chips! It's also very cute on the inside with plenty of seating and games!

After a hot and sunny day we were looking for something refreshing and decided to go to this ice cream shop. We've visited a few times before and it NEVER disappoints! Our go to favorite is the strawberry ice cream, the strawberries taste so fresh I've never had ice cream like that before. I also decided to try the ice cream latte with scoops of vanilla ice cream and it was amazing! Although parking is a bit difficult since it's on a busy street it is definitely worth it! The staff is friendly, the inside is radiant and welcoming.

It was a really quiet Friday night & we decided to try Velvet. They are very generous with your ability to taste. I think I could have had a sample of everything in the case & she would have obliged! They have a great assortment of flavors to choose from; we opted for a single peanut butter cup & a double raspberry cheesecake. The former was vegan & nothing gave away the fact this was non-dairy. The flavor was great - and the texture was light & airy. The raspberry cheesecake was also quite tasty - a mix of the two together was TO DIE FOR. The only difference between 4 & 5 stars for me, was the price. Definitely a pricey option, but definitely tasty!

I found this place by accident but I'm so happy I did! Best matcha near me for sure, service was amazing. They have games and it's such a nice little place to hang out.

Been to this spot when it was Paradis and now again as Velvet. Was nice to try so many flavors, most were really good! My faves were the ube and salted caramel. Our order was wrong but we didn't notice until after we paid. Gave the wrong size. I feel it is a little overpriced but glad we tried it. There are games (connect 4, jenga, etc), seating, and friendly enough staff. I do wish there were napkins available without asking at the counter. Street parking on Ventura can be tricky depending on the time and day, but we were lucky to find one quick on a Friday night.

I hadn't been here since the name change, but it was just as amazing as I had remembered it! I came during a quieter time on Saturday evening and was able to sample a couple of the vegan flavors before choosing which ones to include in a vegan brownie sundae. The employee working there was so upbeat and friendly and very helpful, ensuring me which items on the menu are in fact veganizable. I was delighted that they can make a brownie sundae and cookie sundae both vegan and even have vegan whipped cream to top them with! I chose the peanut butter chip and the double chocolate chip as my flavors for the brownie sundae and I was not disappointed! Both flavors were so rich and creamy and I would never have believed they were dairy free had you not told me! The brownies had a soft gooey texture and tasted fresh and the whipped cream was light and airy. I felt amazing after eating it! The store has such a fun and bright ambiance and there's even games on the table to play while you indulge in your delicious treats (ours had a connect 4). The tables are comfy and cozy and well maintained. The shop is also very clean and they constantly clean the floors and wipe down tables, so there's no stickiness in sight! Parking is pretty easy: you can either score a meter on Ventura or find some ample street parking north or south of Ventura in the neighborhoods.

Came here after lunch with some friends since we have never tried it. It looks like it's new- and we love trying new spots. There was only parking (metered) on the streets. The staff was super friendly, the ice cream was delicious, and the flavors were unique and amazing. Idk what got into me but I got an affogato but with the coffee chocolate chip ice cream. It was really good - just too espresso flavored for me hahaha. The only reason I took a star off is because there was an event with a cookie company, and they kept recording without our consent or told us about it or anything. I really didn't like that at all.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Parking: 3/5 I don't really eat ice cream but I have decided to try Gelato for the first time. Parking is bad as usual around here. Finally found the parking a block away from the store. The place was clean and neat inside. Few chairs inside and out. Pretty cozy hangout spot. Ordered classic pistachio Gelato. I have never tried authentic gelato from Italy so I have nothing to compare with. I feel like it just tasted the same as regular ice cream. Overall experience was great aside from parking. I will repeat.

    Ask the Community - Velvet

Is the ice cream homemade, made there in the store?

Yes all of our ice cream is made fresh by our chef in-store :)

Is this the same owner as the previous ice cream shop?

Yes, it's the same owners but the ice cream is much tastier and fresh since they make everything in house now.

I would like it every day but my doctor would probably have some words for me if I did. So when I actually do get ice cream, I want the best. And let me tell you, McConnell's is the best in my opinion. I would describe the ice cream here as being made with the freshest ingredients you could imagine. They have an assortment of interesting flavors to choose from. The staff is more than happy to offer you samples so you can pick your favorite, but always stick to my go-to flavors, which never disappoint. First is one of their original flavors, Eureka Lemon and Marionberries. It tastes like Italy in your mouth. It's sweet and light from the ice cream base but also tart and flavorful from the lemon and marionberry notes. My second flavor, and probably my number one if I had to choose, is their coffee ice cream. When I tell you, I crave this stuff, I mean it! I've had plenty of coffee ice creams in my day but this one is perfection. It has a strong coffee flavor that isn't overpowered by the sweetness and it's got little specks of coffee grind in it which is like a surprise for the palate. You wouldn't think these two flavors go well together, but they really do! I always get myself a double scoop (which is actually four scoops). So if you order a double you can actually get four different flavors. I always get it in a cup with a sugar cone on top. It's the perfect treat. They also offer some baked goods like brownies where you make sundaes with them. And while I normally think a brownie would enhance the ice cream experience, here I believe the ice cream is the star and you shouldn't ruin it! Now on to the negatives, and there aren't many. It's on the more expensive side for ice cream. But again, you are getting a premium quality product and I personally don't mind paying a little more for something I feel reflects the value. And while the ice cream here is the best, the parking is not the best. You can get lucky and find metered street parking but because there are so many popular businesses on this strip, it's usually pretty crowded. If you are willing to walk a little bit, you can usually find parking in the neighborhood behind the businesses. Or, and I didn't tell you this, you can park in the large Von's parking lot on the other side of Laurel Canyon and take the short walk over. That's actually probably the best option to get that exercise in before devouring your ice cream anyway!

Our most recent trip, we went on a Saturday around 5:15pm and there was one other group in there. However, when we left there were several groups in there. They were well staffed with at least five employees that I can remember taking orders. We ordered a banana split ($13.99) with vanilla, dulce de leche, and mud pie as our ice cream flavors. Our wet toppings were hot fudge x2 and marshmallow. My partner likes peanuts but I don't necessarily care for them, so he selected the crushed peanuts as our dry topping and requested that it only be put on top of the vanilla ice cream (his ice cream selection). Our server happily obliged. What I found to be really impressive was while we were waiting for our banana split to be created, we were approached at least three times asking if we had been helped yet. They are really on top of it here. In terms of the ice cream - it looks like a kid's dream, and tastes just as good as it looks. The banana split comes with two bananas, which tasted ripe, and it was definitely sharable between two people. Parking: We did end up having to pay $2 for parking. When we went up to the parking garage and scanned our ticket it said we were good, and once we drove to get out it told us we needed to pay $2. Turns out we were there for an hour and a minute - I guess that minute occurred between the two scans. In the past, I thought once we scanned we had 15 minutes to exit, but I guess things have changed. Just something to be aware of now.

The decor is amazing, the selections go on for days, cute gifts, a clean bathroom that was also fabulous! I'm a fan!!! Jesse offered ice cream samples and/or fudge. They also had cookies and candy. It was the kind of place you envision when you think of ice cream and candy. Willie Wonka-esque even. They had SO many amazing flavors. Jesse was super patient while i figured my life out. I'm currently stuck on this McConnells flavor that is from their See's collab, I admit that I was trying to create my own version of it. I did great!
