    The Chinese Chicken Salad
    Beatrice V.

Stopped by again as this place is always one of my go tos! Service wasn't quite as impressive as usual, maybe bc it was a weekend morning so they were busy but they were certainly less attentive. We sat down at a pretty dirty table after ordering inside and it took a while for someone to come and clean the table off. It also took a WHILE for our food to come out. It feels like we waited forever! Don't recommend coming if you need a quick meal or have a tight schedule to stick to. My friend got the poached eggs & fine herbes toast. I got the Chinese chicken salad. And my bf got the steak & eggs. Poached eggs were good, comes with a large quantity of arugula. The Chinese chicken salad wasn't quite as good as I remembered it to be last time. The chicken had kind of a weird creamy texture. My bf liked the steak & eggs, the chimichurri sauce over it was nice. Still a good go to in the valley but a bit of a miss this time! I'll probably be less inclined to go here when it's a weekend morning given how busy it can get.

First of all, gorgeous "inside" and overall decor! Nothing but street parking and boy was it busy over the weekend. We walked a few blocks down just for parking. They have a very tiny spot though. You have to go inside to their gift shop/coffee area to order and then they give you a "food name" as your order "number" which is honestly really cute because the hostess just randomly yells out HIBISCUS if you have that name card lol! Food took about 30 minutes for takeout and we enjoyed it at home. My mom liked her omelette and my bf liked his turkey sandwich. I didn't have much of an appetite so I just had the two egg breakfast scrambled with apple smoked sausages. Pretty good but would love to try their other food next time I'm hungrier lol. Croque Madame

Cute cafe in the area, they have a nice indoor dining area (not air conditioned) and also a lot of outdoor seating. Downside is you have to find street parking and for breakfast you'll need to park by the residential streets. Went here for a business meeting on a Monday morning so we probably stayed for over 2 hours. This was my 2nd time here and I swear I thought I wrote a review for this place already. That said for this visit I ordered croque madame. My bosses ordered their usual and I tried the pancake... wow I loved the pancake. Not sure what makes it decadent but I've had many pancakes in different places but this is the best, without any butter or syrup it is very good. And the right texture and thickness for me. As far as the croque madame, the gruyère cheese was sooo creamy and the whole dish is just yummy! The greens break the richness of the sandwich. Definitely recommend if you want to eat something French to match the Parisian style interiors.

Sweet Butter has one of my favorite matcha drinks. The iced pistachio matcha is tasty, sweet and slightly salty. Topped with pistachio cold foam and some pistachio nuts. It is fairly small inside and kind of confusing where to order. The service was alright, could've been a bit more friendly and welcoming but it also could've just been one of those days for the workers which I can understand. I definitely plan on stopping by again and trying some more items on the menu!

Sweet Butter Kitchen truly feels like stepping into a hidden European café. The interior features a charming alleyway with twinkling lights, mock windows, and lush plants that make you feel like you've been transported to Paris. My friend and I stopped in briefly to share a dessert, but everything--from the sandwiches and quiches to the prepared treats--looked incredible. The nice man inside was helpful and kind. It's such a quaint, cozy spot that's perfect for a date or catching up with a friend. I'm already planning to come back earlier next time for coffee and a full lunch!

This review is for the coffee only. I haven't tried the food. I'd go back again and again just for their einspanner. The pistachio matcha was just as good. I'm glad I skipped the hot latte this time and discovered their iced options instead; that mocha, rich and chocolatey, felt like a total treat. Parking on a Sunday afternoon wasn't too bad, though you'll likely have a short walk to the spot. The ambiance was busy and lively, with people enjoying both the beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

Sweet Butter is a cute little cafe on Ventura Blvd. that serves breakfas, lunch, and a variety of pastries/cakes. They have a pretty extensive selection of items, ranging from pancakes, waffles, eggs, sandwiches, salads and more. The patio is lovely with many tables, but you can also sit in the inside area like my son and I did. We placed our order with Abel who was very kind, approachable, and patient. Molly also helped me on deciding which quiche I wanted since I wanted something eggy and they only served Eggs Benedict on weekends, which is what I was really in the mood for. We sat down and waited for our food which came within 10 minutes. It was around 4pm on a Tuesday and the place was pretty dead, but don't let that fool you. This place gets PACKED and it can be a long wait for a table. I ordered a Decaf Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk ($5.95 and +$0.95 ea for the vanilla syrup and oat milk) and a piece of Cinnamon Bread Pudding ($7.75). For my main entree, I decided on the Italian Tuna Sandwich ($19.50) but subbed Sourdough in place of the Ciabatta. It came with Red Onion, Parsley, White Beans dressed with Our Vinaigrette & just a touch of Mayo with Kalamata Olive Tapenade, Arugula & Roasted Cherry Tomatoes. My son ordered the Grilled Veggie Salad $18.95 +$8.00 for chicken) which came with With Laura Chenel Goat Cheese, Mixed Greens, Asparagus, Corn, Zucchini, Cherry Tomatoes & Avocado with Dijon Vinaigrette and we got a slice of Bacon-Cheddar-Asparagus Quiche to share ($12.95). The quiche came with a side of undressed mixed greens and I opted for shoestring fries with my sandwich. Everything tasted great and we pretty much cleared every crumb off of our plates! The place was clean and so were the bathrooms. Unfortunately they dont have any parking but there are some metered spots around. We were lucky to find some residential parking for 2 hours. Make sure you check the signs. t's been several years since I was last here but it's an enjoyable place to be. It was a nice outing with some good food, nice ambience, and lovely jazz music playing through the speakers. There's something for everyone here. Thank you Abel and Molly. We'll hopefully be back soon again.

Sweet butter is another go to for the valley. They are really known for their bakery items and sweet and savory breakfast fare. When it comes to their baked goods everything is large and dense so be aware of that. Each item is really meant to be eaten alone. Of the items I've had here their croissant is my personal favorite. Nothing else really stood out but again the dense part makes it hearty. As for their breakfast items they have some fancy choices such as one that involves steak, big pancakes, etc. every time I've been here everything has been solid but nothing to rave home about. The pancakes tend to be the fave for locals They have a lot of outdoor seating with just a few in their enclave (but have heaters). Food was quickly brought out and everyone was attentive. Parking is street so be aware of that when it gets busy on weekends as it can take a hot second sometimes if it's after 9 on weekdays or during the rush on weekends.

Side of fruit, mushroom soup, and match cloud
    Manny P.

Been driving by this place for over 10 years, and been wanting to try it out. Today was the day. For first-timers like ourselves, the entrance was a bit confusing. There is a host table, but there is no sign telling customers to go directly to the counter. I hope the pictures help. We arrived at 8:10AM, 10 minutes after opening. There were 4 other tables before us. The service seemed slow. The staff is professional but are not necessarily talkative and warm. No pleasant greeting, take order, drop off order. Ordered mushroom soup (why a cup instead of a bowl???), side of fresh fruit, matcha cloud, and chicken & waffles. Despite the unorthodox vessel (LOL) the mushroom soup had good taste. The fruits, I appreciated were ripe, firm, and fresh. Wife liked the matcha cloud. The chicken & waffles aside from being delivered 15 mins after everything else and only after I asked where it is, only then did they deliver to the table. This means it was ready and sitting around and forgotten by the staff. The wait was not worth it. The chicken lacked flavor/seasoning. Coincidentally it appeared that the owners and their young children arrived 30 mins after us, and got the full attention of the kitchen staff. Their complete food and drink order was delivered before ours.

Joey is awesome and he is so helpful. I can't believe I've never been here before it's so cute! It's a restaurant and a store and a bakery all in one. I bought a peanut butter oatmeal gluten-free cookie and it's quite tasty! They have a wide array of coffees and matches and pistachio lattes. I highly recommend! I love the merchandise, they have some great retro items

Nothing too special, the food was good and the service was fast paced. We ordered then waited to get seated, it was a Saturday so they were pretty busy. Ambiance was nice we got seated indoors, which is what we preferred as opposed to outdoors with the view of Ventura Blvd.

Cute little corner spot in Sherman Oaks with lots of outdoor seating- don't go when it's cold or rainy there's no inside seating. Great place for people watching !!! The staff were incredibly nice. And the food was ok. Nothing spectacular. The poached egg on the avocado toast was hard boiled and the portion was small. The power protein scramble was good and it came with a huge mountain of arugula. They have tons of different coffees to choose from and really delicious looking pastries and baked goods.

I've come back for the chicken and waffle and they were scrumptious. The food here is fantastic and so too is the ambiance. The service is hit or miss but could definitely be friendlier. All in all, no sour on the sweet butter

Both great and happy kids. Michael took my order and was pretty knowledgeable with the menu. I ordered the Crema Burrito that came with: Tator Tots, Scrambled eggs, Avocado, and Jalapeño. They had 2 of the same Burrito. One with Bacon, and the other one w/out ($15.56). Portion of the Burrito was very small for the price, and was lukewarm. Food overall along with beverages were expensive! I also got a single butter Croissant and asked him to warm it up. The Croissant was nicely warm, flaky, buttery and very good! ($6.23). The Baked Goods case was practically empty. Wanted a Blueberry Muffin, and they were out. Last but not least, got their 16oz. Coconut Cloud Matcha ($9.34). Matcha was made perfectly. They have beans of light roast, medium roast and dark roast and sell by various weights for a very reasonable price. They also sell various tea leaves, baked goods (croissant, muffin, scones, bagel, Danish, coffee cake, Dessert Therapy cookies, and merchs. They also have a seasonable menu that changes. When I went, it was the Sakura season menu. Staff were all friendly and were very willing to answer any questions regarding the menu. Please note, the base coffee blend for each day varies and rotates on a daily basis For my visit, I tried ... 1. Buttered Coffee (4.5/5) The base coffee for the day was the Peru single origin, which was well-balanced; slightly sweet with a hint of tartness and nuttiness. They then add a chunk of butter into the coffee, which helps cut some of the acidity, but also is supposed to enhance the caffeine effect and give you additional energy from the fat. It does leave a layer of fat/oiliness so if you are not a fan of that, then this may not be for you. The butter did give it a subtle buttery flavor, which I personally liked. 2. Matcha with Sakura Cold Foam (4/5) The matcha was blended smoothly and was not grassy at all. The Sakura cold foam didn't really taste like Sakura (been to Japan, so know what real Sakura flavor should taste like), but instead, just tasted floral. 3. Columbia Supremo Whole Beans Full body and aromatic. Good for those who like to drink black coffee 4. Guatemala Huehuetenango Whole Beans: Crisp, acidic and a hint of nuttiness Glad I found this local roaster where I'll definitely be coming back to get some more fresh beans.
